Glenn Hauser logs April 15-16, 2021 |

Friday, April 16 2021
** CUBA. 11850, April 16 at 0108, RHC Spanish is sup-torted, while 11760 is merely under-modulated; 11670 is off; but 13740 is VG and the OSOB. Something`s always wrong at RHC. At least, neither 11850 nor 13740 is in English tonight like before (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 9465-9505, April 16 at 0113, jamming against 9490 is splattering plus/minus 15 kHz; but on 9490 itself, R. República via RMI via FRANCE is overcoming it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6165, April 16 at 0250, RHC English is JBM here, much louder on 6000, with COVID-19 advisory. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6970-AM, April 16 at 0120, emphatic talk at S6-S7, probably the pirate relay of Fox News Channel, but not synchronized and can`t stand to watch Cable 48 more than a few seconds at a time, during Hannity. By 0128 is too weak anyway but still on past 0203. Strangely, no reports of this at HFU, like the last time I heard it after 0600. There is a report of it at FRN: http://www.frn.net/vines/read.php?5,8924,8924#msg-8924 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6935-USB, April 16 at 0121, hard talk/rock, maybe in a loop, deliberately distorted with hard background noise. Then slightly more intelligible dialog, 0127 song. Off at 0203 recheck. Other reports of this mashup: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,80341.0.html Maybe Big Badfish Al in Central Pennsylvania explain it?: ``Captain Black Baerd Radio/Sycko R. 5130 USB was 6935 USB 0115 UTC 16 April 2021, SIO: 444 in CT. 0125 - A mixture of radio stations overdub and some electric. Thank you Captain Blackbeard and DJ Sycko for relaying his station`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW kHz, April 16 at 0244 UT, Enid`s NDB, EI, is gone again. Algo JBA probably DNI and/or OIN. Latest reactivation of EI was only April 14 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, April 15 at 1805 & 1825, no signal from REE N American overfrequency, not propagating? No, I think it`s OFF, since neighboring FRANCE manages a JBA carrier on neighboring 17850. But Spain`s 15520 & 11920 are only JBA carriers. Richard Langley, NB, also thinx 17855 was off today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. ** CUBA. 6060, April 15 at 0627, RHC English with bigbuzz; 6100 & 6165 OK; 6000 & 5040 off. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13420 vs RTTY, 13490, 13560 vs local Part 15 ISM pulsing, 13630; 13770, 13840, 13909, 13979-trace, April 15 at 1412, FMish spurblobs with F# tone at ~70 kHz intervals, out of RHC 13700-AM which is only S9-S7 and undermodulated during `Sonido Cubano` music. Not in the order tuned. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI [and non]. 846 kHz, April 15 at 0600 UT, JBA carrier again tonight, presumed R. Kiribati, Xmas Island; no TA carriers, but another on 1098, likely another TP, Marshall Islands (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 341-MCW kHz, April 15 at 0610 UT, Enid NDB EI is still on, alternating nicely with OIN Oberlin KS; almost same periods but eventually will overlap (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PERU. 4752.468v, April 15 at 0024, R. Huanta 2000 presumed, again tonight within 4 Hz of where it was SDR SAM-measured last night, via TWR KiwiSDR, Boa Vista, Brasil, S8-S9 but VP unreadable, so with BFO I just listen for the carrier to drop, which it does at 0028* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 305-MCW kHz, April 15 at 0604 UT, NDBeacon RO, which is 150 watts from Roswell NM; I was tuned to 303-USB. Seldom heard, last logged even later on Feb 19. Earlier tonight also had RYN Tucson on 338 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2081 monitoring: confirmed final repeat, UT Thu Apr 15 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S9/+10 into Bonaire SDR. NEW WOR 2082 should be ready by early UT Fri Apr 16 for first broadcasts on WRMIs 5850 to NW and 7780 to NE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Chris Gay, KU4A, notified the WOR iogroup at 0117 UT April 15: ``840, WHAS's Facebook page says they will go off the air at 11 PM EDT tonight (0300 UTC 15 April) for "several hours" of maintenance. A great chance to DX the frequency, especially for people like me who are only 80 miles from their transmitter.`` An amplified compendium of my replies: At 0301, WHAS still on with ABC news, 0302-0304+ own news; heavy 5 Hz SAH from KVJY, normally audible with WHAS nulled. Night pattern with 1 kW is supposedly fat cardioid toward SW, protecting WHAS to NE, and with very little signal due north toward me: https://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/amq?list=0&facid=64629 Well, WHAS still haven`t gone off by 0321 UT. O, just cut off rudely at 0323 uncovering KVJY Spanish praise music. What else? CMHW Cuba should be heard. At 0330, KVJY ID as ``R. Aléluya, 1600 Pasadena Blvd., Pasadena, Tejas``. With WHAS off, 1.6 Hz SAH between KVJY and something. Streaming linx for comparison https://radioaleluya.org/ https://www.cmhw.cu/ Listening to CMHW webcast, ``s/off`` and Cuban NA by 0400 -- but continues with ``W Santa Clara, en el centro de Cuba`` --- and ``informativo de CMHW...`` The major other UStation on 840 is news/talk KXNT Las Vegas NV, 25 kW but major lobes to north and SSW. At 0400, KVJY, Pharr, Texas, brief legal ID in English. Pharr is far from Houston, but apparently programmed from HQ. Webpage has listen linx to it and 3 other sibling stations, so not simulcasting? And WHAS, 5 Hz SAH cut back on by *0416. Off again by 0422*. WHAS on again for a few seconds at *0424 - etc., etc.? Not listening closely after that, but WHAS back on to stay by 0500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU [and non]. 11835, April 15 at 0626, 3 x 3945 R. Vanuatu with talk in Bislama, S5-S6 better than usual; also JBA on 7890 = 2 x 3945. No sign of co-channel China on 11835. At 0632, NZ inbooming S9+10/20 on 11725 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 2182-USB, April 15 at 0613 UT, YL making a call, no reply heard. I bandscan across here every night, but hardly ever hear anything on this once-major calling/distress channel. Must stop and sit on it for longtime (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1647 UT April 15

Thursday, April 15 2021
** CANADA [and non]. 800 kHz, April 14 at 0606 UT, after hearing Mexican NA probably XEROK, where it`s ``midnight``, English talkshow giving phone 1-800-675-1010. Most likely CKLW Windsor, easily dominant here despite KQCV and the other 800s at night; so suspect with a network program originating at 1010 CFRB, Toronto. Anyone confirm? Reverse phone lookups are extremely unhelpful. Both are now iHeart stations with same show `Power Play` at 2 am, but websites show different call-in numbers. There are 5 other Canadians on 800, the others not listed as news/talk (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 5025, April 14 at 0552, R. Rebelde is S9+20/30, just barely modulated, minuscule improvement since my last check at 0109 of a trace. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13912, 13841, 13771; 13629, 13559, 13489, 13418, 13348, 13268-trace, all wide and approx., April 14 at 1317, spurblobs out of 13700-AM RHC, with F# tones and in FM quiet audio on the closer ones, approx 70-71 kHz intervals. 13981-trace, 13911, 13841, 13770; 13630, 13560, 13490, 13420, 13279-trace, April 14 at 1353, another survey finds them slightly different averaging closer to 70 kHz. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11880, April 14 at 2223, this RHC is off while it should have been in French; while 11950 is on early? By 2315-2317, 11880 is on during English, merely S9, undermodulated during North American weather outlook but fade down when name of Chief Meteorologist is outroed. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, April 14 at 0602, JBA carrier, in bandscan going up from 531 kHz, now too late to hear anything from Europe, until I get to 1215; but not too early to hear R. Kiribati in the UT +14 zone equivalent to UT -10 plus a day. Really no other possibility so I dare not to declare it unID tho I never get any audio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW kHz, April 14 at 0558 UT, Enid`s one and only ND beacon, EI, is reactivated at Woodring Airport, 25 watts. Checking for it nightly, not heard since March 26, when it showed briefly after another silence since March 15. Now mixing with OIN, Oberlin, Kansas. EI still on, alone and reconfirmed in daytime 2128 UT April 14. For how long this time? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA. 17614.986, April 14 at 1405, JBA carrier and also the SSOB and OSOB, surely SRI/SBA, which used to be slightly offset to the plus side, now varying more downward (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, April 14 at 2058, REE is JBA S2, but axually improves later, N American frequency both on the air and propagating this late for the first time in the A-21 season. By 2157 it`s S7-S8 and better than 15520 now which was S5 an hour ago. 11940 is S5-S7 as token Wednesday English starts at 2200. 11685 for Africa, normally the worst, is now S6-S8. Justin Coe introduces: feature after some news will be about the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Second Republic in 1931y; and concluding about Catalan composer Federico Mompou. First news by Alison is doubling of COVID-19 cases in Spain due to a fourth wave caused by eased restrixions for Holy Week {DUH!). 17855 down to S7 by 2207, some fadeouts to 2210. At 2211, 15520 a JBA carrier; 2212 about República 2 underway as I find 11940 best. By 2214, 17855 is almost gone. We shall hear how well it hold up as more and more insolation brighten the North Atlantic path over the next bimonth, with 17855 starting out at ``midnight`` local time for English. Probability of sporadic E boosting it into further F2 refraxions is also going up but unreliable (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 14 at 2158, VOT IS vs RTTY, so is on today; 2205 during English news, careful `545 notching almost eliminates the RTTY as variable bandwidth and passband also help audiblize it. But TRT can hardly expect such capability at every receiver. Something`s always awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2081 monitoring: Richard Langley, NB, confirms the 0230 UT Monday April 12 on WRMI 7780 but 5800 not checked. Confirmed here Wednesday April 14 at 2100 & 2200 the pileup of airings late in the program week: at 2100, JBA on WRMI 7780; and ~20 seconds later on WBCQ 7489.92v, S7-S8. Also confirmed at 2200 on WRMI 9955, S9 peaks but fades vs jamming. Next, and last: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Randy Stewart, Battlefield MO, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com Not necessarily in US funds, and says, ``Glenn, it's about time I contributed to your (virtually) lifelong efforts on behalf of DXers!`` One may also contribute, by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 4905, April 14 at 0553, JBA carrier vs CODAR. Normally hear nothing, sometimes RTTY. Certainly not Tibet at midday there, leaving R. Relógio Federal, Brasil, which is sometimes reported but not by me. IIRC despite the legacy timesignal name, it`s gospel-huxter programming, the only other known possibility; unless another ute (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2350 UT April 14

** ANDORRA [non]. More info on the R. Andorra tribute via AUSTRIA, April 12 at 1700-2045 UT I heard on 6180 via UTwente SDR:
``And the presentator will be Max Lafontaine, former announcer (1970-1972). A nice souvenir for people who were in Andorra for EDXC 2019 (Christian Ghibaudo, France, BDXC-UK news April 10 via BC-DX)`` ``RADIO ANDORRA HIT PARADE. For those who haven't been able to listen to the Monday night special broadcast, There is a podcast. https://www.mixcloud.com/AquiRadioAndorra/hit-parade-radio-andorre-du-12-avril-1981/?fbclid=IwAR0srWHBIWcjavu5PKcARdtzTXdKoOZUrzDMlpbfs12HQ0rJtElOWLwsvtk (via Ghibaudo, April 13, BDXC-UK news)`` (via gh, WOR) ** CHINA [non]. 11895, April 13 at 0608, Chinese at S9, as RFA is scheduled 0300-0700 via SAIPAN. Don`t think it be jammer as nothing else on 25mb, besides 11725 NZ; not even 11835 Vanuatu/China (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also CUBA ** CUBA. 6000, April 13 at 0559, RHC English is back on correct frequency after stray to 5990 last night, now overpowering weak Mali 5995 properly from the plus side, as last hour repeat starts a bit early into news already. Also on 6060 with some buzzes; 6100 with some squeals; 6165 with some hum; and 5040 is off. Somethings` always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11980, April 14 at 0050. CRI English, S8 fading to S5 and undermodulated, i.e. 2 x relay on 5990, confirmed by // on two receivers. Someone else heard this recently but did not realize it could be an harmonic, altho I have reported it a number of times before. Not always audible, but something is always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, April 14 at 0109, R. Rebelde is S9+30 of dead air, or with a trace of modulation? Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13740, April 14 at 0113, surprise, RHC in English here, supposedly only Spanish, S9+30 and better than // 6000 & 6165; and it`s the 13 MHz OSOB. During weather outlook for all of North America, including USA, Mexico, Central America, Cuba, temps in F&C, from ``Cuba`s Chief Meteorologist``, didn`t catch his name, who will be back tomorrow. A new feature? Never encountered that before. Perhaps trying to one-up Radio Martí, which has long provided Cuban weather info from afar. But is English on 13740 another feed mixup, like when once heard on 11850? (not now - still suptorted Spanish); an experiment or an intentional summer improvement? Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PERU. Re my report of 4752: ``Looks like R. Huanta 2000. Website: https://radiohuanta2000.com/ not as in WRTH with fm after 2000...`` Dr Hansjoerg Biener replies 13 April on the WOR iog: ``Peru: It is a very difficult task to keep track of websites, e-mail addresses, phone numbers etc. It seems that Huanta 2000 regained the rights for the domain (note the copyright year 2021 for the design). According to my files http://www.radiohuanta2000.com/ was used in 2016 but became unavailable in 2017. It was then replaced by the domain http://radiohuanta2000fm.com for about two years. In 2019 I noted that the new "fm"-domain had expired, but I was unable to find any new website``. 4752.464, hearing it again tonight via TWR KiwiSDRs Bonaire & Boa Vista, Apr 13 from 2358 with music thru hourtop, mostly talk after 0009 April 14, S7 but unreadable with a lot of storm noise altho Blitzortung shows very little lightning in northern S America, so maybe from C America if not Oklahoma. Still past 0026 but gone at 0035 recheck; did not hear it cut off, but that was exactly when it did so last night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 7420, April 14 at 0057, RRI with music not // 7375 IS, so separate programming unlike all-English last time I heard them. But something`s wrong with the 7420 transmitter: altho quite strong, the signal level is pulsing, more obvious on S-meter if I attenuate it; at same time as the frequency wobbles slightly, revealed by BFO. 0100 break for RRI ID in Romanian, back to music but cuts off the air by 0101.5*. 7420 is Galbeni, supposed to run Romanian 0000-0157; 7375 is Tsiganeshti, English until 0057, French as heard from 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SRI LANKA. 11905, Apr 14 at 0051, S Asian music from SLBC, VP S8-S5 with flutter both vertically and horizontally, i.e. signal level and signal frequency, Doppler effect on trans-polar route. A few years ago this started circa 0115 with mistimesignals I would track (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2081 monitoring; next: 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Randy Stewart, Battlefield MO, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com Not necessarily in US funds, and says, ``Glenn, it's about time I contributed to your (virtually) lifelong efforts on behalf of DXers!`` One may also contribute, by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, April 13 at 0609, no signal at all here from 3 x 3945 R Vanuatu, nor CNR2 as sked; suspect RV be absent, as still getting Chinese on 11895 S9 from presumed Saipan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6205.038, April 13 at 2356, ROCV with dance music, S8-S9 via TWR Boa Vista, Brasil SDR, distorted but stronger than TWR Bonaire was getting it, and now S5-S6 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7828-USB, April 14 at 0055, 2-way in Spanish, repeatedly referring to Ecuador (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0239 UT April 14

** ANDORRA [non]. 6180, R. Andorra tribute special via AUSTRIA, continued from previous report starting at *1700 April 12:
Mostly unfamiliar pop songs in French, obviously from the 70s/80s. Tho playlist includes half a dozen in English by big names, which I never catch except for one I don`t recognize either, checking in occasionally from 1730 to 2030. Also some long segments interviewing DJ. Apparently a count-up rather than count-down, spoiler alert! Plays leading songs in the Top 50 at first, and by 2000 UT working down into the 40s, heading toward finale by 2045. At 2037, just in case, I check it direct to here, but still too early, no signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 2749-USB, April 13 at 0254 UT, Canadian Coast Guard robo-YL, not with marine weather but message about COVID-19 travel restrixions against US vessels? entering Canadian waters. As usual, hard to copy it clearly. Nothing on NL frequency 2598-USB now but 2749-USB would be VCS-21, one sesquikilowatt from Halifax starting at 0240; not listed as bilingual at dxinfocentre.com but switches to robotic French at 0257.7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11850, April 13 at 0226, RHC is S8-S9, JBM so I can barely decide it`s Spanish, instead of English which has shown here by mistake before. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6000, S9+30, April 13 at 0233, and 6165, S9+20/30 both with equally sufficient RHC English modulation for a change (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PERU. Tnx to this tip on the WOR iog at 0017 UT April 13 from Lúcio Otávio Bobrówiec, Brasil: ``Spanish talks on 4752 kHz seems a LA station. 4764, Huanta 2000 silent for some 3 weeks. Congratulations Glen! 73 Lucio, Brasil`` --- Got it immediately at 0030 via Bonaire SDR on 4752.15 - Spanish with reverb, live remote? Promoting a ``Casa de Campesinos``, --- ``aquí en Perú`` --- with phone 940-99-77-28. Brief song, then mentions Huamanga, another phone 996+. 0035 suddenly off leaving CODAR. Not on 4764 either. Looks like R. Huanta 2000. Website is: https://radiohuanta2000.com/ not as in WRTH with fm after 2000. Audio en Vivo does not work. On page are other phones starting with 933, 960. Tuned around but not found on 4747 or elsewhere - just 4775 Tarma, and horrible spurs from 4765 Cuba about 4783 and 4747 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 11940, Monday April 12 at 2203, REE token English underway, best here on SAm frequency as 17855 to NAm is not propagating at all, or equally likely, off. 15520 JBA; 11685 is second best with no RTTY. Alison Hughes with a few news stories: elexion in Ecuador with large showing by indigenous write-in candidate; Israeli cyberattack on Iran nuclear; Yemen vs Sa`udi Arabia; Myanmar; Gagarin in space anniversary. Then another YL with feature on ``magical trio`` of art musea in Madrid. By now 11940 is fading down; if NAm were still on 9690 it would remain loud & clear. 2224 Justin Coe concludes with a Blues concert, something new in Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 12 at 2202, no RTTY to bother VOT in English, but still no good, undermodulated on S9/S6 signal. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6205.039v, April 13 at 0138, ROCV, poor only noisy S6-S7 into TWR Bonaire SDR, romantic music with loud noise bursts every few seconds, which seem to be transmission or feed defect rather than QRM. 0143.5 Morse code ID cuts thru but barely readable talk including ``R-O-C-V``, back to vocal music. Still the same past 0208. At 0235 I check 6205 direct to here: as usual ROCV achieves no more than a JBA carrier --- but the noise bursts hit S8, *much* stronger now, as loud as they were in Bonaire, while ROCV can`t surpass the background noise level of S2-3. Therefore the bursts *are* external QRM against poor ROCV, not its own defect. Further, I can now tell that the noise is on LSB only, inaudible in USB. At 0310, Bonaire is still running as I hear another ROCV ID in code and voice go by, continuing VP with the noise bursts, also LSB only. Maybe time for another QSY? Has ROCV been off? Last report of it I find was April 4 by Manuel Méndez, Spain. I had not sought it lately; my last log was April 1 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0348 UT April 13
