Logs
** CANADA. 2749-USB, Nov 11 at 0725 UT, two different stations, same
YL robovoice with marine weather in English, QRMing each other at same
level; sometimes a few seconds apart, othertimes not matching. My
first log of the season of Coast Guard broadcasts. Checking
https://www.dxinfocentre.com/mb.htm
this frequency applies only to Metarea 4, but nothing scheduled at
this hour, the closest being VCO Sydney NS, 550 watts from 0740z in
EE/FF. They do switch to French with a ``securité`` advisory, so maybe
a special transmission; and then both are gone at 0727*. The other
stations on frequency which are supposed to alternate at numerous
times rather than clashing! are VAR-9 at Yarmouth(Halifax), VCN at
Escoumins, and VCS-21 Halifax. This info may be outdated as top of
page is dated 2020-05-13. Nothing on the NL-area channel now,
2598-USB. Hepburn replies ``Most likely a warning broadcast on
receipt. William`` --- so I guess with such urgency they don`t care
whether they QRM each other or not --- but rather self-defeating. I
hope everyone survived (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 9330, Fri Nov 11 at 0716, dead air soon occupied by
Spy Numbers, so WBCQ/WLCR is off again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, Nov 11 at 0720, S7/S9 open carrier with hum, must be
lingering RHC, and on no other frequency. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ITALY [non]. 7295, Fri Nov 11 at 1817, IRRS via Bulgaria with
`Radio Curious` interview about ``tapping my own phone``, in the spot
where WOR used to be; as heard via UTwente. Rather than fragment,
occupies full semihour until 1846 PSAs for SmokeyBear and COVIDmasks,
1847 Willie Nelson, ``I`ll Fly Away`` and more music. Here it is:
http://www.radiocurious.org/2022/11/04/ron-whitehead-sarah-elizabeth-beat-poets-of-kentucky-2
1854 birdcalls open `TUC Radio` which is bound to be chopped off
shortly, at 1857* but carrier and loudulation from CGTN Radio start on
7295 already at *1856; 1858 with US stock market info! (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** MALI. 15125, Nov 11 at 1616, S9/S8 with romantic song or hymn? but
in Chinese. By 1620 YL in Arabic. This is CRI Arabic via Bamako at
16-17, 100 kW at 85 degrees, to be followed at 17-18 by Swahili at 111
degrees. Yet it`s the SSOB comparable only to 15140 Cuba less
modulated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 13755, November 11 at 0713, JBA carrier no doubt the
new frequency of RNZP, ex-13730 which had interference problems, as
frequency manager Adrian Sainsbury had notified us a few hours before.
Unfortunately conditions are very bad tonight with nothing else on 13
MHz band, making this the OSOB and SSOB! I was hoping he could justify
going down to 11 MHz band which would be better for the extra N
American audience beyond. Website sked now:

06:59-12:58 13755 AM from 11 Nov Pacific Mon - Sun
08:59-12:58 13755 AM from 11 Nov NW Pacific Vanuatu Solomon Isl PNG
Mon - Fri

Thus on Mon-Fri only the last four hours are on a dual/split antenna,
both NNE and NW, so the signal may be weaker thisaway? HFCC azimuths
are 35 and 325 degrees. 13755 no doubt chosen as an open frequency,
however with considerable Asian adjacencies on 13750 & 13760 tho not
audible here, yet, anyway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 25, KWTV-DT ``9``, CBS from OKC, UT Friday November 11
from 0430 UT is just fine direct to my antenna, fortunately, since
``Optimum`` ex-Suddenlink cable has replaced it with tone and color
bars, the 3/4 variety, with a floating white rectangle in the center!
Thus subscribers without antennas are deprived of Colbert, `Late Show`,
then the `Late2` show and beyond, still not restored by 0700 when we
quit; but back the next morning. No other OKC channels appeared to be
blocked on cable. What could explain this? And the floating rectangle?
And how could one calculate the value of such an outage to claim a
rebate? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 12030, Fri Nov 11 at 2315, token English from REE is
interviewing someone who is campaigning to Free the Dolphins from
captivity in aquaria and zoos - no excuse, they are not endangered and
such intelligent beings should not be encarcerated. At the end her
name sounds like Olivia Malo? or Mandel? I`m listening off the back of
the ME beam which is reaching Maryland SDR just fine. So is the NAm
frequency 9690 but there is heavy clicking QRM over it, like OTH
radar: see UNIDENTIFIED (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 11 at 2330, VOT in `Feeling Supreme` with some
kind of advice; 2339 `Did You Know That`, something about Atatürk. VG
modulation this time and S9+30/40 into UTwente, but with some CCI from
understation, PBS Xinjiang, East Turkistan, land of imperialist ChiCom
genocide against Uyghurs and other Moslems. 2352 sign-off now has the
UTimes correctly. 2354 fragment of IS, and off* uncovering XJPBS
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2164 monitoring: confirmed first
broadcast, UT Friday November 11 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9 but JBA in
high local noise level. I hope the signal be usable somewhere,
presumably on antenna aimed SW from FL, like Central America where
there are no SDRs to check it. Also, as always on this System,
starting exactly the same time as WOR playback is a loud noise burst
atop for about 15 seconds, obviously a defect at WRMI.

Also confirmed Friday November 11 at 1530 ex-1430 on WRMI 9955, S9/S5
and no jamming audible; off the air after 1600.

Also confirmed Friday November 11 at 2130 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1323 kHz, S9+10/15 into nearby Noale SDR with little QRM except for a
fast SAH. Preceding show was `Shortwave Report` from California, but
chopped off before final item could complete, IRRS ID and WOR. Next:

0130 UT Saturday WRMI 5850 to NW, 15770 or 7730 to NE
0500 UT Saturday WBCQ Radio Angela 5130v to WSW
2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM

** U S A. 15750-15755-15760, Nov 11 at 1617, WINB DRM, now with DRM
noise on the lower half, other secret beepery on upper half, opposite
of usual configuration. Then after 1630 I try to decode it via Kansas
City SDR, but not enough signal to hear. Does display: ``1AAC (1001))
WINB EE? audio 8.28 kbps``

This flip was originally reported Oct 26: ``There are two separate
elements when tuning through the digital WINB signal: The DRM "roar"
as well as a "buzzwhine" that is presumably the trading data. For
quite some time the DRM was on the low frequency side of the signal,
but on recent checks it is now on the high side, as the two
datastreams have swapped places. Wonder why? Stephen Luce, Houston,
Texas`` To which I replied at that time: ``??? As far as I have
noticed the DRM roar has always been on WINB`s high side`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Regarding WTWW and Scriptures for America, I came across
this rather negative resumé about SFA and PPPP, altho it does not get
into the SW broadcasting angle:
https://www.encyclopedia.com/politics/legal-and-political-magazines/scriptures-america

Also, characterizing SFA as ``owner`` of WTWW may have been an
exaggeration. Wikipedia goes into its history, already in the past
tense with latest developments of Nov. 9-10, 2022:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WTWW

Pertinent excerpts: ``...programming from the Scriptures for America
broadcast network, part of a long-term leasing agreement that
continued throughout WTWW's existence.[citation needed]``

``Owner --- Ted Randall and Holly Misslin (Leap of Faith, Inc.)``

However: ``I am President of Leap of faith, Inc. owner. George
McClintock, 11-11-2022``, he tells me.

WRTH 2022 page 511 lists the ``L.P.: Pres (Leap of Faith, Inc.) George
V. McClintock; Engineer: Ted Randall``. So it looks like a
long-running 2- or 3-way power struggle (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9666-9696, Nov 11 at 2310, loud rapid clicking is QRMing
heavily English from REE SPAIN q.v., as received not only by Maryland
and Virginia SDRs, but at least as bad at UTwente. So it is certainly
external from Spain and the SDRs, Soviet? Er, ``Russian``? The other
three REEs are in the clear. 2355 recheck during REE French, the clix
have stopped (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5950, Nov 10 at 0717, one WRMI frequency is back on air

Next check at 1544: 9395, 15770, 17790 are on; 9955, 9455 off. No 5s

Subject: Hurricane Nicole Report - WRMI

Dear WRMI Clients, Friends and Colleagues:

I am happy to report that Hurricane Nicole did only some minor damage
at the WRMI transmitter site in Okeechobee last night and early today
(November 10), and all of our frequencies are back on the air on their
normal schedule today. We did sign off early last night on most
frequencies for the safety of our equipment and staff, but we had no
power or Internet outages, and everything was working again this
morning. Hopefully this will be the last storm for the 2022 hurricane
season!

Jeff
Jeff White, General Manager
WRMI Radio Miami International

Okeechobee, Florida 34972 USA
Tel +1-305-559-9764
Fax +1-863-467-0185
www.wrmi.net`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9329.946V to .959, Nov 8 at 1938, WBCQ-6/WLCR is finally
back on air,
S9+10/20 in English; had been missing for more than a week, and now is
off-frequency minus instead of plus. Varying audibly as I try to
measure it {date and time had been omitted} (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD
OF RADIO 2164)

** U S A. 9330+. Nov 10 at 0720, WBCQ/WLCR is on, in Spanish as on
their sked this hour only, 57 degrees toward Spain, S7/S9 and again
offset plus rather than minus. Thursday is an off-day for Cuban spy
numbers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5830 & 9475, WTWW-1 have not been heard for quite a while.
Those should be carrying programming from the station`s owner,
Scriptures for America, yet the #2 transmitter with Ted`s rock music
or ham shows, on 5085, has continued regularly heard in the evenings
on a widely variable schedule --- but not any more: UT Nov 10 at 0205,
Dave Zantow in Wisconsin says, ``on 5085, Ted Randall has been
babbling that tonight will be the last broadcast due to financial
issues. That will continue on the internet with the same oldies and
Bible-beater junk.`` I myself did not hear this, but I am told that he
also announced that it would be his last broadcast on 5085, unless he
could raise $ 15,000 from the audience. Rodney Johnson in Minnesota
says ``there`s lots of talk on their FB group as well``. Walt Salmaniw
in BC says ``they usually boom in to Massett, and I will miss them as
they play some really nice music with good fidelity``.
Axually the real problem is that for some reason, Ted Randall has been
failing to carry the Scriptures for America broadcasts. They, after
all, own the station. So, on Nov 9th or into 10th, a representative
from SFAW in Colorado came in and closed down the station, and ousted
Ted Randall. This is a breaking story as we go to ``press`` on
Thursday afternoon, and I`m sure there will be more to follow. Maybe
Ted will find some other station to carry his stuff (Glenn Hauser,
WORLD OF RADIO 2164)

** U S A. 1140, Nov 10 at 0735 UT, open carrier dominates some C2C
station, i.e. KLTK, 5 kW DAYTIMER in Centerton, NW Arkansas, as
previously concluded (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1170, Nov 10 at 0734 UT, WWVA ID as I tune across, as Tulsa
may be in a fade. Site in OHIO diminishes signal toward Tulsa but not
a deep-notch null:
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WWVA&service=AM&h=N
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890, 11835, Nov 10 at 0724, no signals from R. Vanuatu
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6082 USB, Nov 11 at 0017, 2-way in Spanish with ``engine
noise``. I do wish some native speakers would monitor these things and
get some of idea of where they are, what their ``business`` may be
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Subject: [WOR] Glenn Hauser log roundup November 3-10, 2022

NEW ZEALAND 13730, Nov 9 at 0704, RNZP sufficient S8/9+10 with RNZ
news of US elexions in American Samoa, another Pacifican, Guam? Never
mentioned in Mainland WTW elexion coverage. Adrian Sainsbury tells me
they are working on solving the China clash at least at 08-09.
Wolfgang Bueschel says there is another 13730 collision with Austria
at 11-12 UT; I`ve forwarded that also to Adrian, and hoping for an 11
MHz band replacement, better for the extra N American audience.
