for S America direct at 0655-0900 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. Sporadic E was pushing 88 MHz earlier Oct 8 but no FM DX.
By 2207 I`m checking 10m CW beacons and find two of the reliable XEs:
28183.2, dash and VVV XE1RCS/B, and at 2209 on 28276, XE1JAL/B with a
VG signal, each logged several times before. In the WGB list, XE1JAL/B
is in Xalapa, Veracruz but XE1RCS not listed on any frequency. So this
was my last log in 2023y:

band. Look at WWV prop as of 0600, notably K-index of 7.33!

** SPAIN. 17855, Oct 8 at 2204, REE N American frequency finally back
on air, last heard on Sept 25 and off by Sept 27, roughly one biweek.
But if it`s Tuesday, there must not be English, rather Ladino at this
hour. 17855 is S6/S9 direct, about equal to 17715 for S America, while
17855 ought to be much stronger, so something is still wrong. 15390
still gone of course, leaving 15520 backwards for ME the best at
S9/+10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 11785, Oct 8 at 2158, VOT IS VP S7/S8 direct vs
local HNL up to S9+10, and even ROMANIA 11800 is a JBA carrier.
Propagation very disturbed. But at 2230 into UTwente, RRI is VG
S9+20/25, while there`s algo JBA around 11785 not even synch-locking,
so VOT must have crashed or be exciter-only as nothing else scheduled.

Postmarked 1 Oct 2024 Raleigh NC 275, received 7 Oct. Enclosed
photocopy of info sheet about ``Greenville`` station, including: 8
high-power SW transmitters. Five are rated for 500 kW, three for 250
kW, but all eight operated at 250 kW to reduce operating budget.
Equipped with approx. 40 broadcast antennas, between 03 and 305
degrees. 305? Per azimuthal map, that would aim at S Pacific, northern
Australia. I had emailed a report as requested on the DRM text;
axually decoded by NH kiwiSDR, not aimed thataway. This was not one of
those transmitters, only 6.5 kW as in my original report and reply
from him here:

S6/S9 direct. At least no jamming heard, with outages and breakdowns

abbreviations. The PJB logging brought up a question about, let’s call
it taxonomy. Looks like there is a list of List of ITU Member States

and a List of all geographical area designations

So Bonaire, a “special municipality” of the Kingdom of the
Netherlands, gets two designations: HOL is the ITU code for the
Kingdom, and BES is the code for the group of special municipalities
in the Caribbean (Sint Eustatius and Saba being the other two). If
this sounds like the DXCC “entity” shenanigans that happens every few
years in amateur radio, you’re getting close. And in fact, in 2010,
these very islands changed their status and that was reflected in the

direct vs S9+20 peaks of intermittent local noise level. Slightly
better on this backward ME beam than on 17715 to S America; 17855 for

into UTwente, not off the air. 2200 timesig and s/on as if it`s 1230
on 17620, no preview of program segments; 2201 olds starting with
pressure on Israel for cease-fire. By 2217 `Weekly Analysis` about
Iran attacking Israel, most of the military targets supposedly hit,
but Israel censors such news. By John Hodgin[? sounds like], Senior
Foreign Policy Researcher.

2221 `Letterbox`, for ``my lovely dear listeners`. 1) Jayanta
Chakraborty, New Delhi, a regular, report of 20/8 wonders who wrote
national anthem, and are there parks for endangered animals? And wants
stamps for collexion. Gives name of composer which we should Google.
but no way without spelling it - or, way: see my 7275 report; well,
there are zoos. Halil host says after 12 years in Turkey, his
Malaysian wife`s visa has to be renewed every two years at
considerable expense, dual citizenship not allowed. 2) at 2229,
Siddartha ---, India, reception report and question about suicide rate
in Turkey. Halil doesn`t know but says Japan is ``top suicidal
country`` and also high in Singapore where it`s much more stressful
than ``relax`` Malaysia. 3) at 2234, r.r. from Dymantis? in
``Letonia`` or is it ``Letunia`` so is it Lithuania or Latvia?? 4) at
2234 another from Sid about suicide but different date. 5) at 2235,
Annan --- ---, Pak or India? It`s India on behalf of 324-member club
in India, wants stuff. 6) at 2238, Tampere, Finland, Perki[?] ---,

Germany, 8/25, asserting SW is more reliable than internet. At 2249,
``goodbye, my lovely3 listeners, bye2`` - so this one has run a good
28 minutes. 2250 music. 2254 s/off of 17620, and fragment few notes of
IS before 2255* chop, no finesse. Something`s always erroneous at

** TURKEY. 7275.02, UT Mon Oct 7 at 0321, VOT undermodulated with
music, 0324 more music, S9+20/30 direct with flutter as K index =
5.33. BUT: This is not a replay of the Sun 1230 broadcast like heard
at 2200 on 11785+, which it normally would be, since by 2221 The
Letterboxxe Programme had started! Something`s very erroneous at
Emirler. They are broadcasting something other than the last English
hour. By 0353 just in time I`ve tuned it via UTwente refining the
frequency to 7275.019, greater offset than usual and a different
transmitter as it`s also squealy, instead of English s/off at this
minute, the *different* IS they play for the Turkish language service,
interspersed with Turkish IDs, i.e. about to start at 0400. And at
0355 the choral national anthem is playing, which we never hear on the
external service == but it`s chopped off! a few sex later. Meanwhile I
switched to 6165 which is supposed to be // 7275 in English, but it`s
off already. Turkish from 0400 is supposed to be on 6040 & 9770,
unchecked as I only uplooked HFCC later. The anthem:

listen. Checked at 2227 into UTwente when measured, now only S9+5/10
with flutter during music. By 2251, flutter is heavier even unto
there, 2251 s/off and only fragment of IS before 2252.5* chop, no
finesse. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,

October 6 at 2155 the 2130 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.002+ at
S8/9+10 into UTwente.

NOT confirmed Sun Oct 6 at 2330 on WRMI 7570, because it`s OFF the
air, nor on later in evening. WRMI-11 sked 2300-0400, first hour RAE,
rest TOMBS per xmtr grid. But WOR still shows on the System D sked.

Confirmed UT Monday October 7 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+10 into
Georgia and Missouri SDRs.

Also confirmed UT Monday October 7 at 0300 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160-,
S9+20 with auroral flutter direct.

** U S A. WTWW: George McClintock informs me at 2315 UT Oct 7: The
Overcomer website has been hacked, and can`t get any program feed.
They will have to get outside help to restore it. Tried filling with
other programming, then turned 9930 off until it can resume. However
at my 2335 check looks normal and is playing:

At 0151, TOMBS night channel 5920 is off, but the other one is on,
5085.

Says Bro. Scare had confessed his sins personally to George, so
respected him but can`t understand why so many love(d) him. Other
transmitter 9475 is OK - tho not on the air at 2330 check -- frequency
changing wasn`t working until some lubrication applied loosening
plungers into the coils.

Also says according to Bob, WRMI had considerable damage from Helene,
some antennas and feedlines down such as for 5050, and expensive to
repair. I read somewhere else that WRMI is not insured because of that
expense. And here comes another hurricane tho apparently not for a
