** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, July 19 at 1350: 16100 S6-S9; inband
15165 with VOA Thailand CCI, // 15130 but no VOA Philippines audible;
13920 S7-S9; 13640; at 1356, 13530; but none lower in the 13s, 12s,
nor 14s, nor higher in the 15s or 16s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13762 & 13638 approx., July 19 at 1355, plus/minus ~62 kHz
spurblobs out of RHC 13700-AM; and F# tone when tuned in FM mode; Also
second-order blob about 13578 altho 13576 calculated 2 x 62 below.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 9705, July 19 at 1428 open carrier S7-S9; 1430
music and ``konbanwa`` by YL so Japanese for good evening. Aoki shows
Furusato no Kaze from Japan via TAIWAN at 1430-1459 daily; also
duplicate? at 1330-1357, flanking another 9705 user, BBC Hausa via Sao
Tome M-F at 1400-1430 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6960-USB, July 19 at 0102, pirate music S6-S8, DJ
talx about albums, Radio Free Whatever ID; many more logs here:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,84080.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2095 monitoring: NOT confirmed
Sunday July 18 at 2000 on IRRS via AM Italia, 918 kHz, Villa Estense;
rather IRRS ID, and back to music, S9+25 including noise level at
Noale SDR.

Confirmed Sunday July 18 at 2200 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 minus 111 Hz
= 6158.889 kHz into Maine SDR. 6160 presumably had been on all day now
with TOMBS but at 2157 tune-in the usual The Planet ID and IS loop was
playing. At 2200 cut back to TOMBS for a few sex before WOR start at
S9+10.

Also confirmed Sunday July 18 at 2250 the 2230 on WRMI 9955, S8-S9
over a trace of pulse jamming, into Maryland SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday July 19 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct.

Also confirmed UT Monday July 19 at 0130 on WRN N America webcast.

Also confirmed UT Monday July 19 at 0230 on WRMIs: 5800 into Bonaire
SDR but some squeal in USB & LSB modes at S6-S8 but S9+10/15 in AM
mode; and 7780, S9+10 into UTwente Holland SDR. Both were playing
Cuban music until the 0229.5 ID. Next:

1330 UT Tuesday WRMI 15770 to NE
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary
support: thanks this week to Peter Jones in East Sussex for a

to: Glenn Hauser, Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330.043, July 19 at 0532, JBA talk, presumed an old WBCQ
unit typically off-frequency, substituting for broken SuperStation
with wacko World`s Last Chance Radio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Previous report about WTWW said 9950: typo for 9940 (gh)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4975, July 19 at 0232 via Bonaire SDR, weak carrier
S4-S5 in LSB-narrow mode vs 4980 WRMI splash; in SAM mode carrier
offset varies plus 5 to minus 1 Hz. Maybe a trace of modulation on
4975. Could be Latin American rather than European (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6115, July 19 at 0531, JBA carrier: very intriguing, as
CONGO Brazzaville was reported to have permanently closed down SW
several months ago, but this used to be a possible time to hear it.
The only other 6115 at this hour is R. Nikkei-2, JAPAN, but it`s
awfully early before sunset there especially in summer: 0953! UT.
Also, there is NO signal on clear 6055, sibling R. Nikkei-1; both of
which are supposed to be on air during long span. BTW, WRTH classifies
these SW as National only, not International (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, July 18 at 0616, RHC English check: this one strong
humbuzz over JBA modulation; 6100 sufficient; all others off, 6165,
6000 and 5040. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, UT Sun July 18 during pre-bedtime relaxation?
KUCO-FM Edmond which is supposed to be relaying overnight classical
music from WCPE in NC, instead at 0537-0549 is firing its canned ID,
the same one over and over, every few minutes, long dead air, bit of
some classical music, and again. Finally Kimberly announces that they
are in backup programming while maintenance is underway. She
introduces the same fill music again but it`s always being
interrupted. I time starts of several IDs at these separations: 4:19,
2:20, 2:19, 2:25 minutes. They are joint with two satellites likely
affected same way: 91.9 KBCW McAlester, and 95.9 KCSC Woodward.
Probably kept doing this all night like last time; when I spread the
word as a defacto meteor scatter DX test, but then there were nothing
but IDs back-to-back every 34 seconds (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2095 monitoring: confirmed UT
Sunday July 18 0344 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, S9+10 via KB0FX nearby but
with storm crashes, about 16 minutes into so started circa 0328.
Next:

** U S A. WBCQ check via Maine SDR, July 18 at 1927: TOMBS S7-S9 on
7490 -92 Hz = 7489.908; S7-S9 also on 6160 -113 Hz = 6158.887; S8-S9
on 4790 -27 Hz = 4789.973; zero on 3265 which was also off yesterday;
JBA carrier on 9330, S2 including noise level. Homepage still has
nothing about 4790! Schedule page concerns only 7490, 6160 and 9330.
All times are mislabeled EST instead of EDT, but are correctly 4 hours
behind UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, July 18 at 0614, WTWW-2 on late as happens
unpredictably, Ted interviewing an author about UFOs. Is this
considered part of his ham radio block, not rock music, or just
off-the-wall? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (91.7), July 18 before and after 0500 UT, KALW San Francisco
webcast during `Tangents` eclectic music and ethnic show which is one
of my favorites, host Dore Stein informs that from next week Tangents
will be cut in half, two hours instead of four, 05-07 UT Sun instead
of 03-07. Newish GM is revamping programming with 6 new DJs on
weeknights, 03-07 UT which somehow requires cutting down older shows
on weekends. He plays clips of her justifications and contradicts
them. Feels it is unfair and counterproductive to reduce his hours by
50%. A lot of the KALW schedule contains non-local shows duplicated on
KQED et al. Dore also explains about this in his own newsletter, which
I posted on the WOR iog. Also sent it to the internetradio hcdx group
but it bounced as ``too big`` pending approval. Too bad, since there
is so little traffic on that list anyway. More at
https://www.tangents.com and https://www.kalw.org/ (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Sat July 17 tune-in at 1500 via
Pardinho, Brasil SDR, S4-S6, historical talk about something in 1816y;
1501 LRA36 ID, music; 1505 ID for the miércoles 11-13 transmission;
1518 music alternating with frequent IDs; 1545 still with song past
1600, 1643, 1652, 1704 rechex; 1719 ID, music; 1729 Antártida song but
cutoff just as lyrix start at 1729.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer check just in time July 17 at 1358: JBA carrier
on 12820, but S8-S9 Chinese music/talk on 12880, 13020, 13130. I`m
tuned to the last one until 1400 timesignal and abruptly off* (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 7105, 7130, 7140, 7150, 7157, 7165, July 17 at 0632, approx.
peaks of weak pulse jamming from Cuba; vs no hamcomms at all heard
near them. July 18 at 0308, only one is 7165 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE [non]. 9395, July 18 at 0000, Atlantic 2000 special via WRMI
as publicized; +31 Hz carrier offset, more than usual for WRMI.
Multi-lingual ID opens but then DJ in French for their July emission,
to include music dedications. Starts with Lovin` Spoonful from 1966,
in English. Strange how so many European/Free/pirate stations play
nothing but the narrow genre of rock, as rechecked a few more times
during the hour when I am really watching BBC America with a pleasant
$ tereo music soundtrack about animal life in the megacity of Tokyo
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. No Es DX to be found, but some bandscanning
circa 1802-1820 UT July 17 finds KS signals enhanced,
Wichita-Hutchinson area, e.g. KHCC 90.1 overriding KUCO OK without
even trying into the caradio vertical antenna. However, next check
after 2100 finds weather has reversed, now with OKC signals enhanced
such as not normally audible dominating 92.9, ``From the Lucky Star
Casino, KOMA HD2 The Edge``, not to be confused with the primary KOMA
on 92.5. 92.9 is really:

K225BN KOMA-HD2 92.9 OKLAHOMA CITY OK ROCK 92.9 THE EDGE 0.2 0.2
267.7 267.7 35-32-51 97-29-30

A sibling translator on 95.3 of KOKC 1520, always audible but stronger
than usual:
K237GE KOKC-1520 95.3 OKLAHOMA CITY OK TALK KOKC 95.3 FM 1520 AM
0.25 0.25 0.0 0.0 35-32-51 97-29-30 35FE KOKC Talk Radios New
Generation 95.3 and 1520 KOKC News

Of course 95.3 is not really at zero height above average terrain! I
figured it would be on same tower as 92.9 and the GC do match. In
fact, 95.3 has to be way up there for consistent coverage as far as
Enid with 250 watts ERP. HAAT may be uncalculated but FCC shows it is
314m above ground = 1030 feet.

I moved out of OKC in 1961, one reason to get away from all the local
RF hampering TVDX. Now I shudder to think how Citians are blocked from
getting out-of-city FM signals by all the local translators of AM
stations or of HD FM channels where no one is listening to their
original intent; e.g. forget about Tulsa into OKC on 92.9 or 102.3,
etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 4790, July 17 at 0624 check, the new WBCQ is
still on with TOMBS, S9+10/20 direct but noisy. Probably all-night or
even 24 hours all day. Yes, 4790 checked July 17 at 1612 via Maine SDR
is on at S9, -26 Hz offset = 4789.974. But 3265+ which ought to be
audible that close in daytime if on, is not. More TOMBS on 6160 S5-S7
minus 712 Hz = 6159.288 kHz.

I wonder who does WBCQ frequency management? 6160 was a bad choice
next to Cuba in primetime, as I repeatedly outpointed, but no
broadcasters anywhen anywhere around 4790. Latest HFCC dated July 17
still has WBCQ on 5130, no 4790. Does show 6160 24h, and 3265 at 22-10
UT only, tho is also running it in daytime. Also the 500 kW on 13570
where it never went before it broke. FCC did not get around to
posting A21 schedules until April 26 and not updated since.
https://transition.fcc.gov/ib/sand/neg/hf_web/A21FCC01.TXT

7730 & 7570, July 17 at 0628, WRMI TOMBS but with long dead-air
breaks; internet feed buffering? They do satellite too (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13565-CW, July 17 at 1401, K6FRC HIFER beacon JBA with
continuous IDs vs CODAR, allegedly only 1.8 milliwatts at Patterson
CA. Last time logged was June 27 always around this same hour (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2095 monitoring: barely confirmed
Sat July 17 at 1327 the 1300 on WRMI 15770, JBA but sounds like me.

Also confirmed Sat July 17 at 1600 on WRN webcast to N America.

Also confirmed Sat July 17 at about 1801 on IRRS 7290 via Bulgaria;
listening to UTwente recording later without exact times, but usual
pattern of Aida theme JIP circa 1759, brief sign-on, pause and WOR to
almost 1830. Altho missing from 918 Italia AM on July 16, today July
17 confirmed also there via Noale SDR at 1820 check a few sex out of
synch with 7290; S9+15 but a lot of local line noise.

Also confirmed Sat July 17 until 2003 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville
MO, VG S9+10 via nearby KB0FX remote; so started circa 1934.

Also confirmed Sat July 17 at 2000 on WRMI 15770 about S9 into UTwente
after SMTV and Everglades ID.

Doug Smith, TN, W9WI, replies on the WTFDA gg Jul 17 06:56AM -0500:

``KOZB filed a silent STA on May 26th, 2020 citing financial
difficulties. They filed to extend it in January. I don't see any
"resumption of operations" filing, but on May 18th they filed a
technical STA requesting authority to operate the station at
reduced power. ("The licensee hopes to be able to operate at 8.7kW
ERP, but a lower power may be necessary.") That STA was granted the
next day.

Given that KOZB would have fallen afoul of the off-over-a-year law in
eight days, I think you can reasonably presume it did return to the
air on May 19th. FWIW, four other co-owned Bozeman stations have made
similar filings: KBOZ-1090; KBOZ-FM 99.9; KOBB-1230 and KOBB-FM 93.7.
Sounds like Bozeman may have been a great place to DX for awhile!``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4975, July 17 circa 0630 again that JBA carrier, but
unlikely to be R. Deltracks, as Gianni Serra, Roma, agrees:

``Glenn, it is hard to believe the JBA carrier you caught on 4975 kHz

considering the low TX power of 350 Watts (or below 1 kW): sunrise in

All on my own 2004 Nissan stock caradio in real time, no recording, no

inserting relays: for clarity, I am just copying entries as are,
without editing redundancies, etc. Finally I add city-to-city
distances from distancefromto.net, not site-to-site. This not finished

I do not find that Res in my Rand McNally; must be very small? But
Balcarres is NE of Regina on the way to Melville and Yorkton. So this
is it as per WTFDA:

CHXL-FM 95.3 OKANESE INDIAN RESERVATION SK CAN COMMUNITY RADIO 50.0 kW
Horizontal-only 71.2 m HAAT H-only 50-56-34 103-23-53 --- yet I am
getting it on my vertical-only car antenna! It is said that sporadic E
fortunately tumbles the original polarization of signals. From
Balcarres: 1665 km = 1034 statute miles.

I wonder if these Creeks be any relation to the Muscogee/Creek of
Oklahoma? BTW, in OK you see a lot of Tribal license plates --- once
considered prestigious or at least funding tribes rather than the
state in general, but since McGirt shakeup in federal/tribal, vs state
jurisdixion of crimes against Indians, many of whom you would not
recognize as such without their plates, news reports say criminals are
now singling them out as targets less likely to lead to prompt
prosecution (WORLD OF RADIO 2095)

** U S A. 4790, July 16 at 2044, surprise new frequency for Brother
Hystairical. Richard Langley heard it first at 2015, good signal in
NB, transmitter? I hastened to do TDOA on it, not enough sites but
came up with Rutland MA area W of Boston. But at 2100 WBCQ ID on 4790
and // 7490, into `Behaviour Night`. I was about to suggest digits
jumbled 7490 into 4790 but they are both on! TOMBS continues on 3265 &
6160; and 9330 weaker than 500 kW with WLCR. Recheck at 2105,
Behaviour Night on 7490 only, 4790 has switched back to TOMBS along
with 3 and 6. So it`s an additional transmitter rather than a change.
SDRs in SAM mode show minus 28 to 29 Hz carrier offset. Some in the NE
get it well, others hardly at all. A new one has popped up in Halifax,
but its waterfall shows no signals received anywhere! 4790 recheck at
2335 via a remote, still on with BS: probably 24h like the others.

(7489v), July 17 I tune in late at 0014 to WBCQ webcast of `AAAWWW`
when he is talking with Freddie on phone about the new 4790, more Free
Speech Radio, first day on air! It`s the #5 transmitter permanently
retuned from 5130 which has been off for months due to too much QRM.
Says he tuned it up nicely and quickly. Discusses crystals for
frequency control. No longer being manufactured, but TimTron grinds
them at home with Comet cleanser. I am sure this is quite a craft, but
also explains why WBCQ is hardly ever spot-on-frequency.

0022 prompts Angela to do a datestamp, but she doesn`t know what day
it is; finally, July 16, YOOL 2021. She used to feed 200 ducks. Allan
likes chickens and thinx they should be celebrated for providing
humans so much food; also can be pets if imprinted as chix. 0033
another vague reference to threats against WBCQ being handled by his
lawyers; administrative problems. 0043 laments that Gideon Bibles are
gone from hotels, not p.c. [Really?] Quadricasting tonight on 3265,
4790, 6160, 7490. Did not hear him say anything about 9330 back on the
air with substitute transmitter; maybe was in first quarter.

0044 reads a lot of pirate logs from last week`s Free Radio Weekly.
0053 starts reading another e-mail, then decides it`s not suitable for
broadcast. Pray for the audits in GA and AZ so T**** can be restored
as Our President. FCC rules change for CB to allow FM mode. Allan
likes all music except can`t get into jazz. John Carver`s version:

``Tonight's show started on time on 6160 and 7490 with 7490 having the
better signal again. Didn't check 3265 for the reasons mentioned last
week. Allan and Angela in the studio and opening talk about
microphones again. Phone call at 0007 from Freddie. While talking to
Freddie Allan states that they are broadcasting on 3265 also and
testing on 4790. Said that they were using the old 5130 transmitter
for 4790. He also mentioned that they were broadcasting 9330 on
another old transmitter but didn't mention which one. After the phone
call Angela tells us about how she used to feed two hundred wild
ducks. Allan said that she was now feeding and taking care of some
young groundhogs and their mother. He also commented that he loved
chickens and liked being around them. A bit of political talk with
them referring to our beloved President Trump and then talked about
things in general for a bit. Reading of last weeks Free Radio Weekly
at 0045. Reading of emails at 0056 with one referencing a recount of
last election's votes in two states which prompted Angela to hope that
Trump would be restored to office. Rambling closing prayer at 0058 and
off the air at 0100. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. Several US FM stations included in the July 14 CANADA [and
non] Sporadic E DX report, q.v.

Minor Es FM DX opening implied on DXMAPS so go to the car July 16:

92.9 at 2201, ``--WC? Valdosta`` and some music is all, but it is:
WAAC 92.9 VALDOSTA GA USA COUNTRY 100.0 100.0 153.0 153.0 30-48-13
83-21-20 9430 WAACFM 92.9 Country --- 1485 km = 922 mi

93.1 at 2202, CCI praise music which would not be KS either, but then
mentions ``Daytona Beach Shores - thanks for living the coast life``:
WKRO-FM 93.1 PORT ORANGE FL USA COUNTRY COAST COUNTRY 93.1 24.5 24.5
53.0 53.0 29-09-15 80-59-45 A7D8 Title & Artist on 93.1 Coast Country
Country --- 1770 km = 1100 miles; right next to Daytona

Not much else; some more CCI on 93.5; 93.7 with Spanish rap then
morphs into English, so maybe KSPI OK was doing that. It`s too hot and
I bail out. Maps soon show MUF falling (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA [and non]. Still researching IDs etc., of the huge sporadic
E FM DX opening from Saskatchewan, Alberta, Montana, July 14 1702-1953
UT. Hope to be done in time for next report (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6100 & 6165, July 15 at 0617, RHC English both S9/+10 and
undermodulated; again 6060 algo JBA; 6000 off; 5040 in Spanish.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11850, July 16 at 0128, RHC is a steady S9+20 but JBM and
suptorted. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 7435 & 7335, July 15 at 0612, Radio Martí again on
extended schedule and atop jamming, also weaker 6030 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 7133-LSB, July 15 at 0612 unreadable QSO in
Spanish, and not much else on this part of 40m band, except for
amorphous weak jamming sounds as Ryan Ellegood had forwarded a
K0LWC Youtube report that Cuba had started jamming in the ham band.
Listening to it myself, it`s rather like what seems to be spurious
jamming in the broadcast bands, so can`t be sure it`s intentional, but
spurs from R Martí frequencies above 7.3 MHz seem unlikely. I find
sort of peaks circa 7105, 7120, 7130, 7140, 7157 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. OG&E crew from OKC finally came July 15 between 14 and 18
UT trying to locate source of the S9 line noise level I have been
suffering for a month or so, from LW thru MW and most of the SW range.
But they could not find it; offered to come back soon if it get worse
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** U S A. No FM DX today, but a bit of sporadic E beaconing on 10m,
July 15 at 1737: 28286+ partial copy before fadeout, surely:
``28.2865 WBØBIN C SABIN, MINNESOTA # 7W, GP VERTICAL New 22 April
18`` as heard several times before; and definitely:

28245.2, July 16 at 1740, VVV DE K0WKT/B IA IA IA 5W with call
repeated several times; per WJ5O list:
``28.2453 KØWKT ? MAY CITY, IOWA # 5W, VERTICAL New 25 July 2018``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

First airings confirmed UT Fri July 16 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5800 S9+20/30
and 7780 S8/S9, but both with considerable storm noise from Kansas
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330+, July 16 at 0421, WBCQ back on here, tnx to tip from
Dave Zantow, WI, but it`s surely not the broken #6 500 kW transmitter,
rather one of their ``classic`` units as Walt Salmaniw, BC also
agrees; I try Maine SDR first where it`s too close anyway and JBA
carrier; no better at Rochester NY; but near Washington DC it`s VP
S4-S5 presumably with WLCR flatearthiness, and in SAM mode varying
plus 12-15 Hz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 3215, July 15 at 0610, TOMBS is back on WWCR-1, missing
