Logs
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Wed Dec 14 at 1455 tune-in via
Argentine remote, LRA36 already on with song, only S6 so not enough to
overcome noise level. 1501 standard canned sign/on, multi-lingual
advisory, staff names, ``Nacional, la radio pública``; 1502.5 theme
song; 1506 recitation with musical background; 1507.7 song; 1511.7 ID
ending with ``su compañía`` and start live YLs chatting led by María
Eugenia, as programa #35; 1519 strength surges briefly to S7/S8; 1526
contact info; 1527.7 song; 1530.4 ID with `Nacional, nos une``,
this-week-in-history starring with 12 diciembre. I have to quit now
for an appointment, but did not miss much as Gary Pence says it
dropped off sometime between 1532 and 1545.

Here`s info about the 2022 and 2023 seasons, including full names of
the four women now and then; from Radio Magazine, on FB originally in
French, into Spanish via Juan I. Gutiérrez, AER Foro DX, a lot better
than a machine-translated English version:

o lra36nacional@gmail.com`` By postal be sure to include code 9411
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ARGENTINA [non]. Re my last report copying the RAE in English times
on the WRMI skedgrid, Harold Sellers replies quite differently:

``According to my recent monitoring I believe RAE’s English
programming is carried by WRMI as below.
0200-0230 5800 Th, 5850 Mo & We, 9395 Tu & Fr
0500-0600 Th 7780
2330-2400 We 7570
Harold Sellers, Vernon, BC`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 750, Dec 14 at 0726, CKJH liner between rock songs, exactly
like last night, never with call letters, but beachradiosk.ca Chuckle.
Second of two nights WSB off for maintenance. Melfort appears to be
the dominant signal all over USA. There are no other US powerhouses at
night except 20 kW Portland OR, but it`s cardioid into Pacific, deep
null eastward. Well, also 50/50 kW ND KFQD Anchorage, which might have
a chance were it not for CKJH. The Spanish I heard last night was
probably R. Progreso, Cuba. Others I have heard before: KAMA El Paso
TX, 1 kW; KOAL Price UT, 6.8 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Dec 14 at 0734, R. Rebelde remains reactivated, VG here
but no 10050; nor RHC on 5040 & 10080. The other side:

READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW --- December 14, 2022 POLITICS
Why are the ballot boxes in Cuba guarded by children and not by
security forces? 'The clearest proof of the banality and theatricality
of the Cuban electoral system.'
YOAN MIGUEL GONZÁLEZ PIEDRA | Holguín``...
https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1670970511_44022.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, Dec 14 at 0739, S9+20 of dead air from RHC; also 6165,
S9+10. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Dec 14 at 2242, no signal into UTwente from R.
Cairo in English for a sesquihour from 2115. Something`s always amiss
in Abis (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Dec 14 at 0728, only 9/kHz split JBA carrier
is here, R. Kiribati (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Dec 14 at 0740, no signal from VON (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. Don`t you believe that `StarDate` is on KGOU
Norman and its satellites, daily at 7 AM & PM CST = 13 & 01 UT. Still
not having located it on the `upgraded` KUCO, if at all, I bring up
the KGOU stream at 0100 Dec 14. Instead, after the `Fresh Air` opening
teaser, this news hole is filled by `National Native News` as on KGOU
sked, with nothing specified for 7 AM. Looking again at the website,
somewhat obscure is link to affiliates:
https://stardate.org/radio/affiliates
upon which is a USA map where you have to click on a state.
Considering that all OK entries are wrong, I would not believe any
without confirming. Guess what: publicradiofan.com doesn`t know of
any, just as a podcast. Furthermore, StarDate website credits for show
does not even mention the only voice we always hear, Billy Henry,
ex-Sandy Wood. It does name several people behind the scenes in
scripting and produxion. He is elsewhere on the site or search on his
name.

Next I try KUNM Albuquerque NM as it and all its relays are on the
affiliate list: 7 pm [MST] except Sundays 6:30 pm - CONFIRMED, UT Wed
Dec 14 at 0200 on KUNM webcast, even tho it is too insignificant to
appear on KUNM`s own skeds, as if `Espejos de Aztlán` start at 7 pm
sharp, lunes a viernes. Music after StarDate is certainly nothing
Hispanic. O, on Tuesdays, `Home of Happy Feet` starts at 7 altho the
title is `centered` as if it start an hour later (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Dec 14 at 2300, token English from REE, billboard
of features starts with something about silly ballgame players, so I
ditch it for TURKEY q.v. instead. But a quickcheck later finds it`s VG
into Maryland SDR, while 12030 & 11940 are JBA and 11685 inaudible if
it even be on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.001, Dec 14 *from a few seconds before 2300
timesignal, VOT S9+35 into Utwente. Now seems to be coördinating with
BBC Oman until 2259.5* so as not to overlap with IS. Usual sign-on
with jumbled English schedule, and soon there is surging caused by
open carrier from PBS Xinjiang, Urumqi, East Turkistan, land of ChiCom
genocide against Uighurs and other Moslems, which has also just opened
on a slightly different frequency making subaudible heterodyne - SAH
fading. Not until 2311.7 do the ChiCom bring up the relayed CNR1
modulation, after which the CCCCCCI is rather annoying. As usual, VOT
is undermodulated so that I have to open SDR and own volume controls
to max, but aside from the QRM would be sufficient considering how
strong the signal is. After news and music break, 2322 feature title
now sounds like `Clipping Files`? It`s about genetic diseases and
social media addixion causing depression, narcissism. At the closing
it sounds more like `Gripping Piles`, more next week. 2326,
multilingual ID filler reel. 2328, `Weekly Commentary`, by some prof.,
can`t understand name or institution, about Xi`s official visit to
Sa`udi Arabia, what effect it could have on the ME. Usual too-heavy
accent by YL reader. 2353 recheck closer to 5960.002, already in TRT
IS and the CCCCCCI is even worse. 2356 begins interspersing German
IDs. 0000 Dec 15 still on, signing on German, mixing with ChiCom
anthem. 0008+, enough cacophony. Something`s always erroneous at
Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2168 monitoring: confirmed UT Wednesday
December 14 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S8/9+10 into Maryland SDR.

Also confirmed Wednesday December 14 at 2205 the 2200+ on WBCQ 7490-,
S8/S9 direct but vs S5/S6 high noise level, really unlistenable. Via
Maryland SDR, however, it` S9+10/20 -58 Hz offset = 7489.942. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Logs
** ARGENTINA [non]. 9395, UT Tue Dec 13 at 0200, RAE ATTW in English,
VG via WRMI, show dated Wed Dec 7! Preview not mentioning any `DX
Actuality` on this one. System G/ray skedgrid shows RAE English at
0200 UT Fri & Tue -- other RAEs not always at this time otherdays. I
guess RAE are still producing only one new semihour per week in
English? Several other times for it shown on convoluted skedgrid:
0200 Tue & Fri 9395
0200 Thu 5800
0930 Wed & Sat 9455
1100 Thu 15770
1130 Fri 15770
2330 Wed 7570
If anyone confirm or deconfirm any of those, do let us know (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA [and non]. 750 kHz, Dec 13 at 0741 UT, Spanish music during
WSB absence, tnx to tip from Les Rayburn of the CPC, to be 0500-0930
both tonight and Dec 14. Not sure whence, but by 0744 some hard rock
music dominates instead: I bet it`s CKJH. Yes, 0746: ``wherever you
go, you can find us, beachradiosk.ca`` -- always good for a chuckle,
their beach-branding far from any seacoast at Melfort, Saskatchewan.
25 kW day and night, and what do you bet they are ND rather than
aiming NNE with a notch toward WSB? Now, if only I could DX the Okie
on 750 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Dec 13 at 0128, Spanish, presumed R. Rebelde is back on
with strong signal here, but no harmonic on 10050. 5025 activity bad
news for Quillabambans and Honiarans and those who would hear them.

10080, Dec 13 at 0128, RHC harmonic is on with music, not // 6000
English nor 11760 Spanish. 0131, RHC theme and French which is
supposed to be on 5040, but a JBA carrier there, as transmitter
mistuned to X2.

This is the situation at later chex 0727-0730: 10080 with RHC music
S9/+10, but 5040 a JBA carrier only. 10080 with RHC news in Spanish at
0730. No 10050 now, but 5025 with Rebelde ID at S9+20.

6000, Dec 13 at 0728, dead air at S9+20/30 and 6100 dead air at
S9+10/20. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11850, Dec 13 at 0726, S7/S8 of dead air, no doubt the most
silent of RHC transmitters supposed to be off long before now. Proving
propagation from Cuba at this hour is the pulse jamming against
nothing, neighborly on 11860; but not 11930 this time. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Dec 13 at 2118, R. Cairo S9+40/45 into UTwente,
huge humbuzz and whine with traces of extremely distorted talk
modulation in presumed English. Something`s always egregious in Egypt.
Let`s hear it for Pres. Sisi! Made it onto air today (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Dec 13 at 0738, JBA carrier from R. Kiribati;
only other one on 1215, see UNIDENTIFIED (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, Dec 13 at 1642 UT check, K17JN-D, Enid, is still,
no surprise, off the air. I would be surprised if K17JN-D have any
significant viewership besides me - tho never for the gospel-huxter
program content! It gets absolutely no publicity in Enid: no newspaper
listings, not on cable [tho 3ABN by satellite is somewhere on a high
tier], and most Enidians unaware of it, or if they are, don`t know
it`s really here. Only way to run across it is making a DTV set scan
for OTA channels --- when it`s not AWOL (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.002, Dec 13 at 2300, VOT VG S9+35/45 into
UTwente with timesignal, English sign-on with jumbled sked, news; 2309
Review of the Tuerkiyish Press, by now with CCCCCCI making a medium
SAH. VOT is somewhat undermodulated but sufficient on very strong
signal and no hum or other extraneous self-imposed noises. 2315
`Weekly Commentary` by a guest prof, but I give up trying to
understand it vs the reader`s heavy accent: something about Xi and
China. 2352 sign-off and 2353 IS stays on a while for a change. 2356
starts interspersing IDs in GERMAN twicemal per minute. 2358* chops
off totally uncovering the ChiCom at only S9/+5, also on 5960.002 but
still with that medium SAH which must be caused by some other carrier
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE [and non]. On Mon, Dec 12, 2022 at 04:44 PM, Glenn Hauser
wrote: ``I have not tried to hear `Ukraine: Security Issue` for some
time via website, but as of Dec 12 it stops at Dec 1 - what now?

Volodya Salmaniw replies on the WOR iog: ``When I checked 1386 last
week [via Lithuania via remote SDR], RUI continued in English for some
25 minutes before switching back to Ukrainian. I do see that the RUI
link is active with current programming. Maybe some sense of returning
to a new normalcy? Digging a bit deeper, they are there. The cover
page wasn’t updated. Here’s a link for December 11th:

Richard Langley, NB: ``That page gets updated sporadicly. But, as Walt
said, you can find the audio file on the daily program pages on those
days that the English version of "Ukraine: Security Issue" has been
aired. For example,

http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/schedule/period-items.html?channelID=4&date=2022-12-11
"Ukraine: Global" also aired on that day following "Ukraine: Security
Issue." You can select a different day using the calendar to the right
on the page -- Richard Langley`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2168 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday
December 13 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S8/9+10 direct; following Jeff`s
Tecsun commercial attempt after ID, ``The world is in turmoil...`` for
which I, gh, take no responsibility.

NOT confirmed Tuesday Dec 13 at 2330 on WRMI 9955 - now replaced per
sked at 23-24, `Living by the Sword`, politico-religio about leftists
in Mexico, Peru. That leaves us with zero emissions on 9955, the
remaining two on sked being imaginary. Next, I hope:

0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW

** U S A. 5950, UT Tue Dec 13 at 0134, WRMI with strange show about
astrology, Geminids MS peak, mispronounced Geminides. At first I
thought it was a hamish subshow on Legends, but not // 9455 during
this hour. Time references make this seem live. 0142 says is now also
on WBCQ, but which? Not 7490- but there he is on 6160-, `Your UFO
Show`.

Here it is on WRMI Programming page in a variety of fonts, illustrated
logo a hand-drawn flying saucer with alien pilot, [sic]:

So is he on the WBCQ schedule yet? Of course not:
http://wbcq.com/schedule/index.php?fn=sked&freq=6160
Shows 6160 not on air before 0200 except UT Mon, Sat and Sun, which
means there would be a conflict with AAAWWW on UT Sat. BTW, this fails
to show any TOMBS at all on 6160-, which runs all-night, until when?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 9330v, Dec 13 at 0731, NO WBCQ/WLCR, and no Cuban
Spies either. What a waste of spectrum. O -- when they are on, still a
waste! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1550, Dec 13 at 1623 UT, rock music // and synchro with 1130
KLEY Wellington KS. Therefore its long-silent sibling station KKLE
Winfield KS is really on the air. Furthermore, 1550 loops correctly
NNE/SSW, but it has a fast SAH from an Okie. On Nov 18 in the
nightmiddle 0803, when 1130 is supposed to run ONE WATT, but always
with 250 W day power, I heard a joint ID for both of them among
several others including FM translators. All have had
financial/ownership problems; tho run from the same address in
Wellington, 1550 originally was separate news/talk format (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1215 kHz, Dec 13 at 0737 in JBA 9/kHz split carrier
scan, surprised to hit one here, only one besides 846 and vs lightning
storms just west of here. Much earlier in evening, 1215 would
obviously be Absolute Radio, UK, six synchros totalling 366 kW; only
other TA possibilities this late would be three X 15 kW COPEs in
Spain, if still on air. But e.g. London sunrise today is not until
0758, almost as late as it can be. How about TP? Only one 2 kW from
NZ, and nothing on islands closer (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs December 11-12, 2022  View Printable Version
Tuesday, December 13 2022

Logs
** CHINA [and non]. 11590, Dec 12 at 1607, Firedragon jamming mixing
with Chinese talk adding up to S8/S9; i.e., against R Free Asia in
Mandarin via TINIAN at 1600-1900 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5990, Dec 12 at 0730, S9+40 of dead air except for humbuzz.
Got to be the transmitter supposed to run only at 23-01 UT for CRI
relays in English, Spanish. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. No
other Cubans on air on 5, 6, 10 or 11 MHz bands. The Other Side:

``How is judicial independence trampled on and controlled in Cuba?
DIARIO DE CUBA spoke to former Cuban judge Edel García about how
judicial independence is violated on the island and how the principle
of 'equality before the law' is violated.
José Luis Reyes, Madrid 09 Dic 2022 - 19:12 CET

Why in Cuba are the judicial cases of political prisoners such as José
Daniel Ferrer, leader of the dissenting Patriotic Union of Cuba
(UNPACU); rapper and activist Maikel Castillo "Osorbo," and Luis
Manuel Otero Alcántara, artivist and a leader of the San Isidro
Movement, dealt with "from above?" What does it mean that, in the
proceedings against such high-profile figures, judicial action is a
pure formality, given that their imprisonment had been decided before
their cases were ever submitted to the regime's courts?``...

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Dec 12 at 2233, no signal in English from R. Cairo
into UTwente (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Dec 12 at 0731, JBA carrier from R. Kiribati
is the only 9/kHz split audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Dec 12 at 0728, no signal from VON (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 255 MCW kHz, Dec 12 at 0743 & 1545, SW, ND beacon at
StillWater, is off again after several weeks reliably on whenever
checked, day or night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, KUCO-FM: just as I feared, now that we are into
weekday programming, Monday Dec 12, before 16 UT and after 18 UT
whenever checked, we are no longer hearing the once-familiar voices of
local classical announcers. The ``upgrade`` means outsourcing the
DJing and most of the classical music programming. Don`t get me wrong:
I have no complaints about the quality of music programming and
announcing from elsewhere, but it`s a shame KUCO is giving up its
identity.

At a 1902-1904 UT break, however, Curt Timmons is still to be heard
with local weather for OKC as well as the satellites in McAlester,
Woodward. But then it`s back to ``Classical 24`` rather than his own
presentation. His title is ``Announcement Coord``. He does the same at
2002-2004 UT. But at 2004.5, `Birdnotes` appears, upcut. These may be
the spots for more modules now. No module in the 21 UT ToH newshole,
but at 2103 local Kent Anderson introduces some Chopin --- so at least
this hour it`s back to KUCO origination? All very confusing. No, that
was a brief interlude. By 2107 it`s back to C24 with something else.

Classical 24 originates with Minnesota Public Radio, not WFMT Chicago,
tho I am sure I heard Peter van de Graaff, an announcer on WFMT`s
Beethoven Satellite Network last week. Maybe KUCO is using both, or
experimenting with both at the outset? Both of these try to sound
``local`` by being generic without ever mentioning their network! It
appears that KUCO`s multi-thousand CD library is now largely
redundant. See Wikipedia for more about Classical 24, including
dismissing its only Black announcer for what he did after George
Floyd`s murder by Minneapolis police.

My initial impression of C24 is that it tends to play more shorter
pieces, which allows plenty of breaks for `underwriting` commercials
and promos. The weekday 3-5 pm bloc on KUCO used to accommodate some
longer symphonies, etc. by not taking a break for anything at 4 pm.
Not any more: after weather, Kent again gets to play only a snippet of
Chopin fill music before back to net. KUCO DJs have plenty of
experience with back-timing: fade up some music in progress so it will
end just before a net join, as that is less jarring than starting at
the beginning and having to fade it out. But some of the transitions
are still abrupt.

We are still awaiting info on resumption/rescheduling of several
``modular`` few-minute programs on KUCO which no longer fit into the
clock, such as `StarDate`. Its own website provides free transcripts,
but there is a price for hearing them unless a day later:
https://stardate.org/radio/listen
No doubt we could track down some other webcasting stations with
StarDate at regular times. Own list shows 7 AM & PM daily on one other
Okie, KGOU/KROU. KUCO never ran it on Sat/Sun, as if the Universe
grind to a halt on American human weekends.

For `A Day to Remember` we have to go to disgraced FB for update, also
transcripts and illos not on the radio:
https://www.facebook.com/ADayToRememberRadio/

``A Day To Remember - Radio 2h · Greetings ADTR friends and fans! If
you listen to the broadcast over the air on KUCO, there are a couple
of schedule changes to note: the morning broadcast moves up five
minutes, from 8:06 to 8:01 am. The afternoon show will now air at 5:01
pm rather than 3:01 [sic: it was 3:06]. Thanks for listening!`` It`s
sort of like Paul Harvey`s TROTS = The Rest of the Story, leading up
to a big reveal at the end. Heard more like 2302 UT Dec 12; spoiler
alert: the first mo/tël! KUCO also used to air BBC news at certain
hours, but no longer? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, Dec 12 at 1706 past 2400 UT, NO signal from
K17JN-D, the 3ABN translator and Enid`s only local TV transmitter.
Isn`t that unusual for a city of 50K, 100 km away from nearest major
market? Was still on nominally as recently as yesterday with multiple
TV and audio substations. No storming as an excuse for outage. No
doubt it`s unpersonned, and may take a while for HQ to become aware
and get a contract engineer out to fix it. Info re:

https://rabbitears.info/market.php?request=station_search&callsign=K17JN
The other Enid station, on ch 32 at precisely the same geo
coöordinates as 17, is imaginary (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PANAMA [and non]. 7193 LSB, Dec 12 at 0722, ``Triple H Net``, first
from K9RM, then KJ6MS with a long list of instruxions on how to
participate correctly; apparently building up WAS contacts is its
purpose. Finally HP3EFS, Mingo is allowed to make contacts. Here`s all
about it:

not explaining where the HHH come from. The net itself issues award
certificates.

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Dec 12 at 2309, tokEnglish from REE, main feature
by Justin Coe is interview about a new produxion in Madrid of
Bellini`s opera `La Sonnambula`, 13 performances until January 6. 2324
more Mundial nonsense about some Spanish player. VG into Maryland so
not even checking the other three or direct; but by 2348 in French,
9690 fading down considerably. Still no DX/mailbag program for months
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.002, Dec 12 at 2300, VOT S9+30 into UTwente
but CCCCCCI already undergoing by 2305. After SPAIN, tuned over to
here at 2325 as `New Day, New Choices` is ending, right into next
segment with back-to-back themes, `Did You Know That?` about the first
medical school ever, 700 BCE in Anatolia; briefly, and later, music.
2353 sign-off with jumbled but correct English schedule, 2355 only
first few notes of IS before chopped off with no finesse, uncovering
XJPBS ChiCom achieving S9/+10 all by itself but noisy on 5960.001
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE. I have not tried to hear `Ukraine: Security Issue` for
some time via website, but as of Dec 12 it stops at Dec 1 - what now?
http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/ua_security_issue
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13565 CW, Dec 12 at 1508, K6FRC ID over and over is JJBBA,
the allegedly only 1.8 milliwatt HIFER beacon in CA, occasionally
making it here and always in the mornings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2168 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
December 11 at 2100 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz only, S7/S9
into nearby Noale SDR, very little CCI; following at 2058 some
Horn-of-Africa? music, unreadable announcement chopped off for 2100
ID, WOR.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 12 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9+10 into
Maurice LA SDR, S7/S8 into Maryland.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 12 from 0404 on WBCQ Area 51, 6160
minus 52 Hz = 6159.948, S9 into Missouri SDR after JL ran late before
he ``gotta go`` at 0403. ACI splash from 6165 Cuba worse on NH SDR. S9
direct and measured 6159.939. Next:

0130 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba]
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW

** U S A. 15770, Sun Dec 11 at 2113, `TYROT`, over and over in
different versions, mostly vocal, i.e. `The Yellow Rose of Texas` as a
propagation experiment for Europe by Texas Radio Shortwave via WRMI.
This was supposed to start last Sunday and repeat Dec 18 & 25. It`s
S9+10 but hardly a solid bigsig here off the side of the 44 degree
azimuth, as ever with this WRMI frequency. Includes announcements and
even breaks for SSTV beepery at 2119.6 and 2134. Terry Colgan said
there would be 23 versions during the 21-22 hour, and a special eQSL
available. If I listened to the whole hour, feared the otherwise nice
tune might become engraved in my brain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Mon Dec 12 at 1552, WRMI-3 is off again unlike
weekends, so bad news for 1530 DX/media program strip: Mon Wavescan,
Tue Shortwave Radiogram, Wed Hobart Radio International, Thu
Frecuencia al Dia, Fri World of Radio -- except Wavescan with a
tridozen other times, not so many for the rest (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, Dec 12 at 0728, JBA carrier from R Vanuatu still
here and no harmonix of 3945 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
