mentioning COVID-19, Nigeria. It`s BBC in Hausa, which I always have
trouble recognizing, not knowing any keywords (Glenn Hausar, er,

** BRAZIL. Between two Mexican beacons by Es, one phone station
audible on 10m, Sept 24 at 2222, by TE/F2: 28391.5 USB, ``PY2ZEA,
Willie in São Paulo state``, barely contacting Fred, NB4M, unheard

** CANADA. 284 MCW kHz, Sept 25 at 0705 UT, dash and QD, 500-watt ND
beacon at The Pas, Manitoba, which is next to SK and barely in the
southern half of MB, 1956 km = 1215 statute miles from here; hardly
anything else audible on LW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11670, Sept 25 at 0628, RHC English on wrong frequency and on
late, during UT Sun jazz show, S9/+10 and distorted. Only //s found
are 6165 --- and 5025!! The Rebelde frequency carrying RHC, while 5040
and all other 6 MHz channels are off. By 0641, 5025 has dropped to
dead air; by 0648 so have 6165; and 11670 except for trace of music.
Final check 0712 when weekly Esperanto should be on 6100, or
somewhere: 11670 with suppressed/distorted = suptorted modulation in:
Esperanto!!, 6165 and 5025 still open carrier. Ron Howard and Ivo
Ivanov observed more total mixups like this later in the morning,
Rebelde on several RHC frequencies. Something`s always wrong at RHC!

** CUBA. 13700, Sun Sept 25 at 1500, RHC still on, S9/+10 in Spanish
but no spurs, std announcement that is now on 15140 & 11760 + FM; 1501
IS and staring Esperanto! and 13700 soon turned off ASAP, but not soon
enough; Esp`o continues on 11760 and much weaker 15140, sign on claims
to be at 0800 on 6100, altho I had just heard it at 07 on 11670! and
at 16 on 11760 - only, they never realise the addition of 15140; and
2330 or 2230? on 15730, where we haven`t heard RHC at all, lately, but
maybe, need to check. The Esperantists are clueless about times and
frequencies they are really on! Turn on a radio? I also catch them
mispronouncing words, like ``polítiko`` instead of ``politíko`` -
accents added by me for clarity, unable to break from Spanish habit to
Esperanto, where penultimate stress is absolutely invariable.

** KIRITIMATI. 846, Sept 25 circa 0655, no signal from R. Kiribati,
where it`s already Sunday night, also missing last two or three weeks,
at least. Tonight, Gary Pence found it also absent earlier after ~0430
sunset into Hawaii SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. Sporadic E MUF not caught exceeding 88 MHz since July, and
not much activity even above 28 MHz, but a couple Mexican beacons make
it on September 24, looked up at this reference:

XE1RCS beacons on 28.182 and 50.019 MHz now transmiting from new site,
Cerro Gordo about 70 km northeast from Mexico City. This new site,
Cerro Gordo is about 3100 m above sea level, near Teotihuacan
pyramids. The site is owned by Radio Club Satelite.

XE1RCS/B on 28.182 Mhz. has an AR-10 antenna with 8 watts, and on
50.019 has an AR-6 with 50 watts. All the antennas are mounted in a 40
m tower with surge protection and battery backup.

Also we added a new experimental beacon that is on 144.295 MHz with 5
watts into a F-23 antenna, transmiting CW and FM with ID alternately.

that`s what I have been hearing cut off at other times. This time
followed by Allen Graham from Ecuador ID, and intrusion of a few
marimba notes followed by noise over the first 10 seconds or so of my

about 5 minutes into so started circa 0313, close to nominal 0315,

*1459 cut on in music, VG S7/S9 signal, 1501 standard s/ons with staff

1513.5 ID with `su companyia` and into live talk by the YLs starting
the 22nd program of the season with guests, chicos from the
secundaria. Certainly a repeat of what I heard Wednesday, so I don`t
pay much further attention; but at 1525, just in case I try for even a
carrier trace direct: no. 1534 greetings from phone callers, but chop
off during chat at 1542*. In case, I let it run until 1600, but

** CANADA. 750, Sept 24 at 0627 UT, WSB is off for tower-light
maintenance the third and last? night in a row. On DX398 with internal
antenna only and altazimuth wrist mount, not much from Cuba this time,
but Spanish looping NE/SW, i.e. KAMA El Paso, see USA. From NW/SE in
English, ``Now, let`s put on some tunes``, and 0635 ``80s, 90s, Beach
Radio, more? fun``. At 0627 I had thought it was ``News Radio``. This
is the 25 kW Canadian far from any ocean beach in Melfort SK, CKJH.
Atlas shows Sask. River in the area and some little lakes, maybe
providing some kind of beach, or wishful branding? Website pictures a

heard this before with or without WSB. Supposedly direxional almost
all northward at night with a notch toward WSB, ND daytime (Glenn

11950, Sept 23 at 2313, RHC with loud Spanish, presumably the
alternate TV audio hour of `Mesa Redonda`, but nominal // 6000 is off.

9535, Sept 23 at 2314, Chinese has CCI with a SAH presumably caused by

follow. YL accent so heavy she`s almost impossible to comprehend;
alternating OM is better but subjects do not grab my attention. 1904
brief noise burst and running-H2O QRM. 1905 mentions ``92.0`` and
abrupt cut to music. That`s their FM frequency in Bamako (Glenn

station on 1120! So I look up KRMG SS times. It would be a rare day
indeed if a clear channel station ever sic`ed the FCC upon such repeat

still
undermodulated, relaying and // music on 95.7 FM KXLS, S9 enough to
block the channel.

At end of AAAWWW on WBCQ before 0100 UT Sept 24, reading some items
from FRW specially compiled by lw, since new issue of FRW edited by
Dave is never done before Saturday morning; including ``Good Buddy
Radio`` in OK on CB ch 19, 27185 --- I never heard it called that. Did
some otherokie report it? AW never mentions who logged the items he
refers to, all too briefly, an opportunity ``not to encourage``
piracy, instead buy legal time on WBCQ, the only licensed [ex]pirate

** SPAIN. 17855, Friday Sept 23 at 2200, tokEnglish from REE, VG into
Maryland SDR, previews an interview with some scientist about the Juno
mission exploring Jupiter and satellites. In a few minutes I am
listening mostly to that rather than the simulcompetition from Turkey,

** TURKEY. 9830, Sept 23 at *2158, VOT carrier on at S9+45/50 into
UTwente, 2200 opening English but very undermodulated so again I have
to run both remote and local volumes at max for `normal` listening
level. But the competition from SPAIN has a more interesting topic

** U K [non]. 11825, Sept 23 at 2318, surprised to find an S1/S5 yet
sufficient signal from BBCWS in English discussing expansion of
Commonwealth to unlikely members like Mozambique. This hour only it`s
direct from VOA Tinang, Philippines relay for Indonesia, so not even
on a 21-degree antenna thisaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2157 monitoring: Still confirmed
Friday September 23 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz. Noale SDR has
timed out so I try the two in Parma, Italy: 2059 cuts off some other
program for ID and WOR, S9+10/20 but noisy, no QRM, and still not on
918 or 207 either; adjacents 1314 in Spanish, i.e. RNE R5 with three
synchros totalling 40 kW; and 1332 in Romanian, i.e. 50 kW RRA in
Galati. Other Parma gets better S/N, but also audiblizes some musiQRM
under.

Also confirmed UT Saturday September 24 at 0400 on WBCQ Radio Angela,
5129.973, S9/+10 into Maryland SDR; by wrapup 0428 peaking a little
higher, S9+13.

Also confirmed Saturday September 24 from 1942 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM,
Gateway 160 Newsletter, Wentzville MO, VG steady groundwave S9+17 into
nearby Warrenton SDR, and no storm noise. Also from 1930 on WRN N
America webcast; missed checking first reliable airing at 1600. Next:

way off-frequency, S7/S9 into Maryland SDR, as `AAAWWW` has started on
UT Saturday. Rest of it I monitor on 7490 webcast; strangely, never
heard a single dig at Democrats being Commies, nor anything political,
maybe because TimTron is guest in studio. Allan is in Monticello
master control, Angela remote on the phone, so no fiddling with her
microphone as normally starting. Temp is 46 in Maine, expecting high
winds from edge of H. Fiona. Lots of talk about electric vehicles: TT
got a ride in one on the way in, and is impressed. 0020 thanking staff
and listeners. 0046 current date Sept 23, YOOLF 2022 and
quadri-casting. 0055 a few advance Free Radio Weekly items from lw -
see OKLAHOMA. Prayer and closing as usual run slightly over into Hal

Show` from WWCR pounding in as usual here tho not targeted thisaway;
unusually plays some instrumental classical music from cylinders circa

** U S A. 750, Sept 24 at 0639 UT, WSB is off for tower-light
maintenance the third and last? night in a row. On DX398 with internal
antenna only and altazimuth wrist mount, not much from Cuba this time,
but NW/SE in English, see CANADA: and NE/SW Mexmx and Spanish,
certainly not Cuba, and unlikely any of the minor Mexicans.
Fortunately US counts upon a border station trying to sound Mexican,
which now YL IDs as ``en Kama750.com``, that is KAMA EL Paso TX, U4
10/1 kW. Website is really kama750am.com. Seems to take turns fading
up and down with Melfort, but anyway mutually nullable. Appropriately
I am DXing this while lying in my cama. Believe have heard before with
or without WSB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890, 7932 & 8620, still no signals from RV, Sept 24 at
0643 check (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1449.94 approx., Sept 24 at 0120 UT, het to the 1450
graveyard pileup. What`s this? MWoffsets has lots of precision
measurements but none lower than minus 15 Hz in the US (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4905, Sept 24 at 0705, S9+10 signal sounds somewhat
musical in a loop, maybe ute? Possibly R Relógio, Brasil, never heard
elsewhen and it`s too early for Tibet (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. RF 8, 10, 12, 28, 35, Sept 24 at 1540 UT, BAD DTV
signals into my SSE antenna, probably Wichita area as APRS map shows
tropo enhancement north of here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
