Tuesday, April 04 2023
** CUBA, 6000, April 3 at 0605, RHC English S9+30/40, only 49m still on but JBA at 0624 on second harmonic 12000. Also 9700 // at 0620, S7/S9 and no CCI - if 300 kW from Romania aimed thisaway 0530-0630 really be on? Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. 6185-, April 3 at 0603, S9/+20 of dead air from R. Educación instead of eclectic music, and as always slightly low in frequency. I gather from other reports that XEPPM appreciates its SW audience and sometimes calls out to them (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7255-, April 3 at 0602, no signal from VON (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7319.998, April 3 at 0601, S3 music direct, presumed pirate, Radio Vostochnaya Zvezda, last reported to be on 7320, and this is very close. Nothing else known on this frequency. Ron Howard was also hearing it, as usual much better: ``April 3, I was listening from 0625 to 0655 UT, to Radio Vostochnaya Zvezda (Radio Eastern Star), again on 7320 AM; pleasant listening to mostly Russian songs, but also some instrumental music. Is wonderful that the station occasionally plays an old Russian IS. My audio posted at https://app.box.com/s/ql1oec2kkkapgg0vx01irw3sxqk7mb23 Ron, California`` Arthur Pozner replied: ``This Interval Signal was very commonly heard on the internal Home Service (All-Union) broadcasts since 1964 until the fall of the USSR. And that song in the audio recording goes back to the Civil War era (1918-1922)`` Walt Salmaniw, BC: ``Yes, I was listening just before then and agree that reception was quite good in to Masset. I posted on the HFU, and received an eQSL from the operator quite quickly. Nice touch. 73, Walt`` Gary Pence also reports at 0640: ``The Russian guy at 7320 --- Hi Glenn, I was listening on 7320 khz at 0632z, good S7 sig, KFS omni and omni at Point Reyes. N. Utah has him OK as wo71 [?] in Northern Nevada. What has changed since 4015 is that Southern Nevada radio ranch no longer heard there and now doing a little better in Stauffer, CA KB6c and the best sig in KFS southeast at S9+5 so he must be somewhat in front of this 60 degree beamwidth. His audio is really tweeked well for AM and sometimes a little over driven. I wouldn't mind if someone tried another TDOA on this current frequency. 73s, Gary, KM5X`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, April 3 at 2220, VOT English to us manages to be on air today, VG into UTwente on the way, but overmodulatedistorted. `Feeling Supreme/The Healing Spring` until 2228, the horribly-accented YL with something about how to breathe correctly while exercising; later, a `DYKT` segment (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13563.5 CW, April 3 at 1458, HIFER beacon PCO from Pine, Colorado is JBA, and so is on 13565, K6FRC in Patterson California --- and seems to be another JJBBA somewhere between them but uncopiable. Several shown here: https://www.lwca.net/sitepage/part15/index.htm (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2184 monitoring, next: 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [low power] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated; by MO or check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. RF 34, April 3 at 1533 UT, one TV DX signal decodes briefly as 33-1, KMSS-HD. That`s the 1 megawatt Fox station in Shreveport LA, correlating nicely with APRS map showing a large tropo blob between here and there. Rabbitears.info shows it has an X direxional pattern, the NW leg good for us, and not too far off the fixed beam of my antenna aimed SSE at OKC. City/city distance 574 km = 357 mi. Also, BAD signals on the STB from these RF channels: 31, 28, 26, 22, 21, 14, 12, 11, 8. Not enough DX to disrupt any of my semilocals, but marginal 16 is also Bad (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, April 3 at 0602, no signal from RV on 7260, 7890 or 11835. But at 0608 a JBA carrier on 5040 - I bet that`s it, as later confirmed by Ron Howard: ``5040, Radio Vanuatu, 0659-0750 UT, April 3. "BBC World Service" promo, available on 104 FM Port Vila (my audio attached); 0701-0713, news in Bislama (several items about the number of households in Vanuatu without clean water and food, a month after the recent natural disasters [news story - http://bit.ly/3U72sVZ ], etc.); island pop songs; 0730+, generic PSA about cyclones; somewhat readable. Ron, Asilomar State Beach, Calif. (near Monterey), Etón E1, external antenna: 100 ft. long wire`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0021 UT April 4 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Monday, April 03 2023
** CHINA. 17880, April 2 at 2240, Chinese opera, like Firedrake plus vocalizations, then Spanish announcement, S3/S6 with flutter and the OSOB. CRI scheduled this hour from Beijing 572 site. HFCC shows 500 kW, 318 degrees, i.e. aiming NW across Eurasia. Followed by 23-24 Portuguese on same parameters, but slightly different SAm CIRAF targets. It`s antipodal to Bahia Blanca, Argentina, so any direxion should work, aside from other propagational factors. And I wonder what the real ID is now in Spanish? Translating ``China Global Television Network Radio`` could get really cumbersome (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. 21530, April 2 at 2242, JBA carrier is the OSOB. Exploring 13m after hearing nothing but Beijing on 16m. Aoki shows it`s CNR1 jamming vs Sound of Hope from Maoli, Taiwan nominally starting at 2300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9710, Sun Apr 2 at 2247, RHC Spanish, S9+20 talking about ``tormenta solar``, so must be the propagation sexion of DX program `En Contacto`, probably starting about 2235; website has no current program timing info. Wolfgang Bueschel`s DX program schedule for A23 shows it Sundays at 1335, 2235, Mondays 0135; but not 0635 when I have heard it if a Spanish frequency be running late. Now at 2247 other active Spanish frequencies are 11850 - axually modulating, 11760, weak 9535. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TIBET [non]. 7505, April 2 at 2253, JBA music vs high storm noise level from southern OK vs a really nice day here: per Aoki, RFA scheduled Tibetan this hour only via Dushanbe / Orzu, TAJIKISTAN. HFCC is less specific about the station, just USAGM, but more specific about the dialect, ``Bod``. OR, of course, ChiCom jammer. WRNO could be on 7505 as early as 2200 but never is (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, April 2 at 2247, no signal from VOT English for N America. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2184 monitoring: confirmed Sunday April 2 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9+10/17 into nearby Noale SDR. I kept running it but at 2010 I am cut off, canned ``sign-off`` 207, 918, 1323 kHz in English; and stays on with frenetic Italian programming starting with 22:10 local timecheck, then with some English mixed in. Also confirmed UT Monday April 3 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into Louisiana SDR. On WBCQ Area 51, 6160 -67 Hz = 6159.933 via Maryland remote, S7/S9, Johnny Lightning keeps on going past 0300, 0337 says something about staying on for 4 hours - just tonight? On and on, about gun control, etc. I`m then listening via webcast, but at 0400 I recheck 6160 via SDR, and it`s already back to TOMBS, no WOR on SW! But WOR does start on the webcast only at 0404. Next: 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [low power] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated; by MO or check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490-, Sun Apr 2 at 2326, continuous instrumental rockish music from WBCQ direct. Same stuff was playing from 2205 when I tuned in the `7490` webcast. At first I assumed that was this week`s fare on `UBMP`, but never heard any announcements, and continued past 2300 without a break, when `Le Show` should be heard. What`s going on? Of course no twit from AW to explain it, nor anything on the homepage. WBCQ overtaken by fill music. Listening a while longer, I realize it`s a loop repeating same tunes. Harold Frodge replied, ``Heard clanking bells & weird music at 0215.`` Arthur Pozner replied, ``The carrier is 70 Hz below the assigned frequency of 7490 kHz. Brother Stair came back suddenly at 0228 UT`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, April 2 at 2251, this WRMI-5 is off, as seems to be more than on at random chex many different hours; despite nominally 24/7. Still off at 0006 April 3, when it`s supposed to be `WRMI Legends` on System K (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9975, UT Mon Apr 3 at 0210 check, still NO signal from KVOH. Not scheduled to resume until UT Fri at 0000. Looks like SCG really need a new transmitter. But they hardly have a monopoly on God`s alleged Word, nor even the ``Voice of Hope`` slogan. However the Listen Live link on website plays (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0422 UT April 3 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Best wishes and 73, Alan Roe ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, LRA36 on again Sat Apr 1, first notified to WOR iog: ``15476v USB LRA 36, 20.54 UTC audible with weak signals in Elverum, Norway. Levi P. Iversen`` [who used to live in Paraguay] I start monitoring at 2233 Apr 1, at first camping on Argentine SDR, S5/S8 greeting Marambio Base. 2245 interview on phoneline with hum and distortion, now hitting S9. Reconfirming there is still a reduced carrier, JBA by tuning to 15475.0 USB. After 2300 ACI from 15480 China, and no LSB available to distance from it. I`m not listening closely, too much else going on, but at 2336 Morse code catches my ear. ID as LU1ZV, which is the ham station at Esperanza, but not on ham band, also voice ID; 2343 Morse ID only again. April 2 at 0010 I check for it direct and do detect a trace vs S5/S6 local hi noise level. Back on remote, no longer hearing it circa 0145, maybe off? But others report it still later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9700, April 2 at 0631, RHC English with UT Monday jazz show, S9+10/20 undermodulated. Nowhere in the 5s, 6s or 11s this time, and no CCI; but there might have been from Romania at 0530-0630, also 0200-0300 as duly registered in HFCC. NZ also has dibs on 9700 after 0700 but not currently using at that hour. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 3885+v, April 2 at 0615. Music in hamband, AM subband area, last few notes of `When Johnny Comes Marching Home`. Initially with het; trying to measure, off and on with bits of music, like 3885.1, 3885.22, 3885.26. Nothing reported around here in HFU recently or in the past week, but once something on 3724.8 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PERU. 4810, April 2 at 0623, S9 of dead air vs CODAR, presumed R. Logos, Chazuta which apparently often leaves carrier on overnight. This time would have been listenable if modulated. Also a much weaker JBA carrier on 4820, presumed R. Senda Cristiana. Seems the STANAG 4810+ from Martinique? is gone for good. Ron Howard reports: 4820, Radio Senda Cristiana (The Christian Way Radio) via Cotahuasi, Arequipa, 0735-0805 UT, on April 2. Surprised by the very decent reception! Perhaps the result of them still adjusting the new transmitter? 0735-0758: Radio drama - my three minute audio - https://app.box.com/s/540ojbc4k3g7y1xya0ftc77ywr568f7r 0759: Unfortunately the 0800 ID was the weakest audio heard today, otherwise decent modulation - my three minute audio is at https://app.box.com/s/13ljo5n1e0feialqyswsnac7erw3cozd Ron, California`` Closest to an ID is mentioned at 1:36, ``R-R-I`` on Facebook, presumably meaning Red Radio Integridad (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 11785, Sat Apr 1 at 2200, VOT English with VG signal into UTwente, but I`m devoting full attention to OETA with PBS show `Outside: Beyond the Lens` episode with stunning views in HD of Zion and Bryce NPs in Utah. Video expires 4/8/23 it says here: https://www.pbs.org/video/outside-beyond-the-lens-zion-bryce-canyon-1200lc/ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2184 monitoring: confirmed Saturday April 1 at 2230 on WRMI 5850, S9+3/10 into Missouri SDR; and 15770, S9+3 into Maryland SDR. Also confirmed UT Sunday April 2 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S5/S6 direct vs high noise level; at 0040, S9+10/20 into Louisiana SDR. Also confirmed UT Sunday April 2 at 0320 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, S9+20 direct, about 11 minutes into, so started early circa 0309. Did not notice whether it were on or not, 24 & 48 hours earlier; how about 24 hours later? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, early UT April 2, WTWW-2 off again, not heard. WTWW update from George McClintock, April 1: Subject: WTWW: Harris SW100 results --- Mike Sabin {of TWR} working on the Harris SW100. - Saturday. Driver tube working at last. Now high voltage to be turned on next. Possible outcome: A. High voltage will not come on. B. High voltage will come on and arc, turning it off. C. High voltage will come on and I will be able to tune up the transmitter. D. The unknown result. Driver cover plate was missing from the driver tube causing it to not receive sufficient air flow. I was unable to find the cover and had to steal one from the Alaska transmitter in the middle building. Ted left it off and was a serious mistake. Switching modules received from CHINA, placed on burned power modules.
