** ANTARCTICA. 15476 RCUSB, LRA36, poor into Arg SDR at 2206 April 8, another Saturday broadcast, getting to be routine. But off by next check 2240. Did anyone hear it earlier, or later? Probably started circa 2100. One reply on the WOR iog:
``I heard it at 2238, quality signal varied a lot, from strong to weak in few minutes. Here is a 5 minute recording using Argentine Kiwi-SDR: https://app.box.com/s/chscd02zugmk04eoboucs43eq1e13vge Marcos Cox, Chile`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 346 MCW kHz, April 9 at 0708 UT, dash and YXL, 500 watt ND beacon at Sioux Lookout, Ontario. A regular but less and less heard vs storm noise level. Really wish I could hear some `new` ones (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** COLOMBIA. 6010, April 9 at 0645, LV de tu Conciencia, S7/S9. Earlier I requested eQSL for my April 8 reception: ``Hi Rafael, Would appreciate an eQSL for LV de tu Conciencia, which I logged for certain last night, direct on my R75 with 30m E/W longwire: 6010, April 8 at 0615, song at S7/S9, title or refrain, ``por qué``. 0620 announcement by OM and then YL with ID ``La Voz de tu Conciencia`` as we have been assuming. Next song with yelling, ``El 19 de marzo...``, SINPO 25342. May we expect Alcaraván to resume too on 5910? Either continuing past Easter? Thanks, Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, USA`` Promptly a reply: ``Greetings, after more than 5 years off the air, the signals at 1.530 kHz-HKV82 and 6.010 kHz-HJDH have been put into operation again, both teams are still making adjustments to improve their signals. Work is also underway to make a new local production, and link via internet with the studios in Bogotá for live programs, this in the medium term. Likewise, work is being done to put the signal on the air at 5910 kHz in the short or medium term. I send you the eQSL and Pennant from the station, you can print them to be part of your collection. dxdesdecolombia.blogspot.com/ https://www.youtube.com/@DXdesdeColombia/video Thanks, Rafael Rodríguez R. QSL Manager`` Nicely designed, even reproducing a real postage stamp: https://www.w4uvh.net/eQSL_LV_de_tu_Conciencia_GHauser.pdf https://www.w4uvh.net/Banderin_LVdetuConciencia_6010kHz.pdf or Nos. 140 & 141 via: http://www.worldofradio.com/QSL.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, Sunday April 9 at 0712, no signal here nor anywhere on 6, 9 or 11 MHz bands from RHC, so weekly Esperanto also missing. Still announced as 0800 on 6100, initiating a real broadcast at 1500 Sunday April 9 on S9 11760 and JBA 15140 instead of 1600 on 11760 only as the Esperantists remain clueless about their own true schedule. Unusual propagation now: NAm & Cuban sigs above 13 MHz much attenuated, such as JBA carriers on WWCR 15825, 13845; but 9980 still blasting, 12160 only S8/S9. Some further signals still making it on 15 & 17 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17470 & 17480, April 9 at 1508, JBA carriers from Dengê Welat & Recep the Turkish Jammer, or vice versa, failing to collide. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauer, OK, WOR) ** PERU. 4820, April 9 circa 0645, no signal from R. Senda Cristiana; Ron Howard was not hearing it too at 0739, 0759, 0818. On April 8 he got a reply from them: ``Hi Glenn, The following is an email from Brad Shaw, of Radio Senda Cristiana. His info is at https://quechuamissions.com/about I have replied to his email with a number of questions I have about the station. Will have to wait to see if he responds. "Thank you for your kind words. Great to know you were able to hear us. It must be working well. We are broadcasting with 1k watts, but we are thinking of only 4-10pm [2100-0300 UT] and 4-8am [0900-1300 UT] Peru time for the next year or so. Brad Shaw, Peru" -- Ron, California`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.023, April 8 at 2220, VOT is S9+45 into UTwente, going from `Gripping Piles` to `Turkey`s Geomarked Products` - both exact titles uncertain. Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2224 a different OM voice than usual with `Weekly Analysis` about fake yogurt made with buffalo milk (?). Somewhat overmodulated/distorted. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. From 2230 mostly music. 2254 s/off; 2255* after IS played only twice. BTW we recently ran across an off-air recording made years ago of their previous IS which was on piano with variations: nostalgia (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 347 MCW kHz, April 9 at 0709 UT, AFK, 25-watt NDB at Nebraska City NE, JBA next to stronger YXL 346 Canada. 251 MCW kHz, April 9 at 0711 UT, AM, 100-watt NDB at Amarillo TX; not often heard among few Texans despite neighborliness (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2185 monitoring: confirmed Saturday April 8 at 1930 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+18 into nearby SDR, about 13 minutes into so started early circa 1917. Also confirmed Saturday April 8 at 2239 the 2230 on WRMI 5850, S9+5/10 into Missouri SDR; and WRMI 15770, VG S9+30/42 into Maine SDR, and at 2257 also holding up at S9/+15 into UTwente where it`s targeted. Also confirmed UT Sunday April 9 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S8/9+10 but noisy into Missouri SDR; S9+10/15 into Louisiana SDR. Also confirmed UT Sunday April 9 at 0326 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+20 into nearby SDR, about 4 minutes into so started circa 0322. Next: 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [low power] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated; by MO or check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, April 9 circa 1500 and many other random chex, no signal from WRMI-5 supposedly scheduled 24 hours per transmission grid still dated March 12 for B-22. Also, I have just noticed that both WRMI-1 and WRMI-2 are shown as on 7730, zero hours per day, at 44 and 160 degree azimuths respectively. Yet 7730 remains for many blox on the program/system skeds below. We never hear it nor have we for at least 6 months. There are also lots of other blank hours on the grid; at 16-21 UT only 4 frequencies in use of the remaining transmitters: 17790, 15770, 9455, 9395 - make that three! BTW, this weekend Jeff & Thaïs White were to be visiting NSW and a DX meeting to welcome them was organised (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1150 kHz, April 9 at 0601 UT another DX test from KSEN, Shelby MT is scheduled to start. On the DX-398 with due north KSAL nulled as much as possible, I briefly think I hear some sweep tones, but must have been spurious sounds, wishful as absolutely nothing in the nature of a DX test perceived until 0620 and another check around 0640; mainly two stations echoing with C2CAM. No one else heard it either. Paul Walker then informed us: ``A little oopsie with the KSEN test --- There was a bit of a mistake. KSEN programming staff accidentally scheduled the test for Monday morning at 1201 [0601 UT April 10]. KSEN has been lowered to proper night power and the test will run as scheduled just a day late`` causing a lot of lost sleep, not including me (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7890, April 9 at 0704, JBA carrier, no doubt 2 x 3945 which R. Vanuatu has reactivated. Probably starts 0700 after 7260. 11835, April 9 at 0705, S9/+10 of W&M conversing in Bislama, ``b`long`` the keyword, as R. Vanuatu is back on 3 x 3945. One of my best signals yet from this. Glad to have them again. The question remains: are these harmonix really accidental? And why don`t they occur when same? transmitter is on 5040, 7260. Marshall Reel, near Washington DC, says 11835 cut off suddenly at 0859* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7480.07, April 9 at 0650, S6/S8 dead air. No broadcaster listed; ute, or possibly warmup channel only for a nearby frequency, like VOA does (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7647.4 USB, April 9 at 0648, 2-way in Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1953 UT April 9 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Saturday, April 08 2023
** COLOMBIA. 6010, April 8 at 0615, song at S7/S9, title or refrain, ``por qué``. 0620 announcement by OM and then YL with ID ``La Voz de tu Conciencia`` as we have been assuming. Next song with yelling, ``El 19 de marzo...``, SINPO 25342. Ron Howard was simulistening:
``6010, LV de tu Conciencia, 0615-0645 UT, on April 8. Playing mostly non-stop LA songs and several instrumental selections; pleased to hear a definite, but faint ID; stronger reception today, probably a reflection of the adjustments still being made to the transmitter. My audio at https://app.box.com/s/v0fsnz3fia4vn32mn47p9tpiv74pcpsv Ron California`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 11760, April 8 at 0623, RHC English, S9 with commentary. This time no // 9700, just German from Romania. All 6`s are off. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846, April 8 at 0632, no carrier detected from R. Kiribati. Saul Broudy replies to my previous about the TV documentary: ``Pacific Heartbeat --- Anote's Ark #901>>> If you go to the PBS app (public TV in USA) or to https://www.pbs.org/search/ and search for "Kiribati", you'll find this program video, as well as Anote Tong's appearance on the Christiane Amanpour show and other relevant links. -- 73, Saul Broudy (W3WHK) Philadelphia, PA USA`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17460, April 8 at 1539 talk at S3/S5 with flutter, no QRM; and 17470 JBA carrier, so evidently Dengê Welat and Recep`s Turkish jammer again failing to collide. Is no one paying attention? Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7320, April 8 at 0611, rock song with heavy disco beat, YL singer, not sure of language, S9 from R. Vostochnaya Zvezda, pirate in SW USA, quite regular now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 15540, April 8 at 1532, mixture on & off of voices, one sportstalk found // 1390 KCRC strong local, and not its // sibling 1640 KZLS which is not synchronized but a couple seconds delayed. Usually these things are explained as external? mixing with a strong real SW signal displaced 1390 kHz, but that does not compute now: 16930 or 14150 -- unless maybe a local ham on the latter, neither checked at first before calculations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PERU. 4810 open carrier stronger than 4820 carrier, April 8 at 0626, S6 vs CODAR pulse peaking S9 on 4810, i.e. Logos, Chazuta. 4820 then seems to cut off and on with a warble. Evidently new Senda Cristiana is having problems. Other reports on the WOR iog: ``Hi Marcos, April 8, at 0752 UT and re-checking at 0835, found 4820 silent. No Perú! But later at 0936, heard a decent level open carrier with no audio. Still working on the transmitter? Ron California`` ``Hi Ron, Their transmitter was on when I heard them around 01-02 UT, but they were silent, hopefully they are on the air with something today. Marcos C [Chile?]`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAO TOME. 4960, Sat April 8 at 0631, carrier on & off. That fits VOA`s sked per EiBi: 0530-0630 M-F only in French, 0700-0730 daily in Hausa. Starts at 0400 daily English, 0500-0530 Hausa (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2185 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday April 8 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, S9+20/30 into Missouri SDR. Also confirmed UT Saturday April 8 at 0400 on WBCQ Radio Angela, 5130, minus 19 Hz = 5129.981, S9+5/20 into Missouri SDR, vs storm crashes from off the TX/LA Gulf coasts. Also confirmed Saturday April 8 at 1600 on WRN N America webcast; preceded by quick FSN, ID, intro, and always a pregnant pause before playback start. Next: 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2230 UT Saturday WRMI 5850 to NW 2230 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 0030 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to SW 0245vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0457] 0800 UT Sunday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [low power] 0830 UT Sunday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [previous episode] 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? 880, April 8 at 0601 UT on R75 with E/W longwire, two news stations mixing, Fox on KRVN Nebraska and WCBS NYC. DX test from KJJR supposed to start at 0601, but not heard until 0605 on the DX398, Morse code: VVV VVV VVV DE KJJR - and repeated several times. So that`s it: won`t need to listen another bihour. Besides, this is not the second, not the third, but the fourth DX special from KJJR, Whitefish, Montana in last few years when I also heard it: Nov 8, 2020; Jan 8, 2022; Nov 5, 2022. It`s 10 kW on ND day pattern. Peaks NW/SE but can`t eliminate KRVN, WCBS nor something in Spanish. At 0607 sounds like SSTV which is a new mode for these, and no way am I going to be able to decode it. No doubt there will be countless other reports about in IRCA. Tnx for the test. Sibling station KSEN 1150, Shelby MT, to do the same thing 24 hours later. In this case day pattern will be advantageous, SSE instead of NNW at night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, April 8 at 0610, JBA carrier presumed RV still here. I`m not up after 0700, so Gary Pence, KM5X, says: ``Same report as last night. Report for April 8th, 2023: Hello Glenn, at 0713z from KFS NW [antenna on California coast] just under S9 on 3945 and S9 on 7890 and S9+5/12db on 11835 kHz. 73, Gary`` He also followed up on April 7: ``Hi Glenn, just happened to check KFS SW and Vanuatu seems to be off air sometime before 0900z. On all 3 frequencies heard after 07z. Gary``} (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1907 UT April 8 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Saturday, April 08 2023
** CANADA. 284 MCW kHz, April 7 at 0651 UT, dash and QD, 500 watt ND beacon at The Pas, Manitoba. Also detectable, 332, QT, 1000 watts at Thunder Bay ON; and 248 WG, 1000 watts at Winnipeg MB. WG to be decommissioned on April 20. Will really miss that; has been most reliable Canadian beacon (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** COLOMBIA. 6010.00, April 7 at 0630, S8/S9 music, noisy, presumed LV de tu Conciencia as IDed last night. Within 1 or 2 Hz of exact frequency; while Brasil if active would be further off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, April 7 at 0620, RHC English, S9+20 about T****; also // 9700, April 7 at 0627, undermodulated S9+10. Unusual to have two extra frequencies at once; all the 6`s are off. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUAM. 15385-15390-15395, April 7 at 1527, DRM noise. EiBi shows it`s KTWR in English to S Asia (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, April 7 at 0645, JBA carrier from R. Kiribati, and no other 9/kHz splits. Later, I just missed an hour about Kiribati, a low-lying island country in danger of drowning with sea-level rise.* On the PBS World channel as on OETA-2 in OK, check your own listings for repeat times. It`s (c) 2018 and may well be available on web if you search it out: ``Pacific Heartbeat --- Anote's Ark #901 The Pacific Island nation of Kiribati (population: 100,000) is one of the most remote places on the planet, seemingly far-removed from the pressures of modern life. Yet it is one of the first countries that must confront the main existential dilemma of our time: imminent annihilation from sea-level rise. While Kiribati's President Anote Tong races to find a way to protect his nation's people and maintain their dignity, many Kiribati are already seeking safe harbour overseas. Set against the backdrop of international climate and human rights negotiations, Anote's struggle to save his nation is intertwined with the extraordinary fate of Tiemeri, a young mother of six, who fights to migrate her family to New Zealand. At stake is the survival of Tiemeri's family, the Kiribati people, and 4,000 years of Kiribati culture. Broadcast In: English Duration: 0:56:46 CC N/N Additional Airings [CDT] 10:01pm, 04/08/2023 | OETA WORLD [0301 UT Sun Apr 9] 2:01am, 04/09/2023 | OETA WORLD [0701 UT Sun Apr 9] 5:01pm, 04/09/2023 | OETA WORLD [2201 UT Sun Apr 9]`` *that reminds me, somewhere I saw a report about Barbados being in the same situation -- not! They have 12 mountains of a few hundred metres, tho the coastline could certainly shrink (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17480, April 7 at 1524 S8/S9 with flutter talk; and algo on 17470 at same reading, modulation? Must be the Turco-Dengê Welat radio war once again failing to coördinate collisions. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7320, April 7 at 0642, Russian song, S8/S9, R. Vostochnaya Zvezda pirate (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Friday April 7 at 2200, token English from SNR dispenses with any news: blame Jesus for that. Justin with first feature about NYC ballet performances in Madrid, with bits of music but no visuals, concluding with some interesting minimalism. 2209 over to a repeat of an Amy Egan feature about Semana Santa en Sevilla, emphasis on the music. 2216 playing the complete solemn march ``La Madrugá``. 2225 a Miles Davis take on the Saeta. S9+15 VG into Maryland SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, April 7 at 2200 VOT English on with usual imprecise late timesignal, S9+50 into UTwente but I`m mainly listening to simulSpain, q.v. TRT audio is breaking up, maybe rx problem. 2213 ends `Review of Turkish Press`, right into `Weekly Analysis` about the meeting between Xi and Putin. 2218 music, overmodulated/distorted. 2227 in progress, `Feeling Supreme/The Healing Spring`, for at least the third time as also April 3 & 5, about correct breathing exercises. Also distorted music but not breaking up into Maryland SDR, S9+15/30. Brasil 11780 quite weaker but still some ACI at wide bandwidth. 2253 s/off about 4 *other* English emissions. 2255 IS not chopped off for a change. 2256 pause and restart IS now with German IDs mixed in. 2300 timesignal direct 13.5 seconds later than WWV. And sign-on German, for how long? Still going at last check 2314. Somethings` always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2185 monitoring: confirmed first SWBC, Friday April 7 at 1430 on WRMI 9955, S4/S9 undermodulated and persists until 1459. My R75 is now taking 12-15 minutes to fully ``warm up`` its audio output. Also confirmed Friday April 7 at 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz only, S9+10/20 into nearby Noale SDR. Lite CCI from understation presumably Brighton, and some ACI unless tightened from 1314 & 1332, both Romanian; fortunately the Rom. on 1323 goes off earlier. This WOR airing not chopped after 10 minutes but all the way to 2059, ``sign-off`` but 2100 FSN, 2105 VOA News, not really cut until 2111* Next: 0130 UT Saturday WRMI 5850 to NW 0400 UT Saturday WBCQ Radio Angela 5130v to WSW 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2230 UT Saturday WRMI 5850 to NW 2230 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 0030 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to SW 0245vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0457] 0800 UT Sunday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [low power] 0830 UT Sunday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [previous episode] 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? 9330, April 7 at 1520, WBCQ-6 is JBA S3/S4, not even sure it`s English. Until now had been blasting in all the time after latest repairs. Is it underpowered? Just antenna heading? Poor propagation? At this hour 14-16 it`s registered as 300 degrees at only 250 kW in English. 9330, again April 7 at 2017 it`s JBA direct but sked 19-22, 81 degrees, 500 kW in Arabic. UTwente registers S5/S7 enough to lock on to 9329.999, but JBA to the ear. By 2156 I can tell it`s English, not Arabic. Full A23 sked if it can be believed: http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A23&broadc=BCQ At 2017, WWCR is blasting in as usual on 9350 & 9980, but other UStations are also weak: 9265, 9395; while 9275, 9455 and 9955 are off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7489.930, April 7 at 2336, WBCQ direct is S9/+10 presumably gospel huxter? but just barely modulated. See below. Recheck 0000 April 8, fully mod ID, and `WTO` theme intro `AAAWWW`, but soon fades down to unlistenability. Then to Maryland SDR where it`s measured as above. About car makers removing AM radio; thinx not only because of noise levels, but `they` are trying to censor conservative talk radio, a major format on the band. I say, of course there is nothing to stop putting far-right talk on FM, and that is already happening in many markets, translators or even full-power. Also concerns about AI. 0048 reading some items from Free Radio Weekly. It`s axually last week`s issue which did not come out until Sunday morning, as I compare some of the items. 0052 email. Fred Flintstone show is back, Sat 7-8 pm [EDT], on 7490 heard by John in Bermuda. Or was that Friday? That would be replacing the FKB gospel huxter! a.k.a. Pastor Ken, still on the sked. Still on sked for Sat 23 UT is `Fluxedo Junxion` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, April 7 at 0643, S9+10 music, presumed R. Vanuatu. I can`t stay awake past 0700, but Gary Pence reports: ``Hi Glenn, Ron is right about Vanuatu firing up 3945 plus any harmonics that want to follow along. Heard at KFS SW, ToH thru 0729 zulu. On 3945 just under S9 and 7890 was S9 and finally I think, on 11835 very comfortable copy of S9+10db and about 2 or 3 more db. At 0730z started talking about Holy Week and today Good Friday and explaining its significance, speaking ENGLISH`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0121 UT April 8 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
