Logs
** CUBA. 15140, Sept 27 at 1900, RHC English not off the air, but VP
direct; not on 11760 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 13605, 11930, 11860, Sat Sept 27 at 1903, LV del
Trumpismo not off the air this weekend, but music instead of news on
the hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE [and non]. 17545, Sept 27 at 1528, JBA carrier direct from
Issoudun, but into Azores SDR, VG S9+10/20. For the Mini Transat yacht
race, maritime weather voiced rather than faxed maps! YL in English,
heavy French accent so a real person? Surely a robot could speak clear
English. Frequent mentions of ``November`` refer to the direxion
North, as in Geo coördinates; likewise South = sierra, West = whiskey;
and East = echo pronounced eek-oh. I thought this race had been
suspended due to hurricane in the way? Anyway, forecasts for next few
days.

1543 she starts saying ``finally...``; 1544 ``that`s all for today,
take care, talk to you tomorrow, à demain`` - the only French heard;
entirely in French earlier in the 1500 hour. 1544 heavy beat music.
1545 open carrier to 1546*. Supposedly also on 7340 from ISS, but no
signal into Azores, and at UTwente, only something else, presumably
East Turkistan, PBS Xinjiang, Urumqi in Kazakh at 2300-1800!

Alan Pennington posted all about it yesterday to the British DX Club:

``The biennial Mini Transat single-handed yacht race (sponsored by La
Boulangère) began on Sunday 21st September with 90 small (6.50m) boats
sailing from Les Sables d'Olonne in France, with a destination on the
first stage of the race, Santa Cruz de la Palma in the Canary Islands.
(The second stage is scheduled to begin from La Palma on 25th October,
destination Guadeloupe.)

One feature of the race is participants use paper charts and only have
a VHF radio (with around 10 mile coverage). But there is a daily
shortwave broadcast in French and English giving them weather
conditions.

Two frequencies are registered on HFCC for these daily Mini Transat
(MT) weather forecasts at 1500-1600 UTC: 7340 and 17545 kHz (both 250
kilowatts from Issoudun).

17545 kHz was heard yesterday (25th Sept) at 1500 UTC by Adam
Amirkhanov in Bucharest on WRTH Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/18mRyaXsEg/

However, the first stage of Mini Transat has now been cancelled with
boats sheltering in ports on the Portuguese coast because of the
impending Category 4 Hurricane Gabriele approaching from the Azores,
expected to hit the coast of Portugal on Saturday.``

** MADAGASCAR. Re my obs of MWV R. Feda, missing from 11610 at 22 Sept
26:
``Hi, MWV is temporary off-air because of unrest in Madagascar. 73,
Dmitry Mezin``

``The unrest in Madagascar is related to power and water cuts.

MGLOB was still on the air with BBCWS on 12095 at 0400 UT September
27, and Radio Dabanga on 11640 at 0430. Later in the day BBCWS via
MGLOB was on 21565 as usual around 1300. All heard direct here in
Houston. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5920, Sept 27 at 0623+, horrible galaxy of spurs: I`m
finding numerous extremely distorted spurblobs above and below this
WTWW frequency with TOMBS matching modulation. These are the approx.
ranges, with the middle frequency being the approx. peak, but no
specific carriers. Of course, they get progressively weaker the
further out. They are approx. multiples of ~86 kHz displacement. Note
that the peaks are closer to the upper edge than the lower edge, but
maybe because of tuning in USB. Not in the order monitored. First one
found, 5834, read S9+25:

5657-5661-5663
5741-5747-5750
5831-5834-5835
6001-6006-6008
6087-6093-6095
6175-6179-6182
6260-6265-6268
6347-6350-6352
JBA: 6436

Paul Walker, Alaska, also reported to NASWA: ``At 0500 UTC Sept 27,
WTWW 5920 has very distorted spurs on 6005 and 6092`` (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, Sept 27 at 0648, RV not off the air, S5 of music.
Ron Howard reported earlier: ``Radio Vanuatu not heard 0545+ UT, Sept
27 -- Hi Glenn - Was just checking for Radio Vanuatu, via New Zealand
remotes and found no signal at all on
9960, 7260, 5040, 3945 or 2485 kHz. Probably another power outage that
tripped off their transmitter? As usual, I have alerted Pryce
Aptenbel, at the station. Ron (Monterey, Calif.)``

And from Gedas in Indiana: ``I just checked at 06:45 UTC and they have
a very strong signal on 9960 directly into Indiana. Your note to them
seems to have worked. However I am also hearing a very strong
broadband QRM signal coming and going that really messes up reception.
73 Gedas W8BYA`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

From now and for an unknown time, at least for 3years, I will not use any radio except the remote SDRs for DXing. Recently wemoved from the village back to the city in a space that prohibits the use ofdesktop DXing, a place flooded by high levels of noise in the LMHF bands. Theradio is now used mostly for FM, for news listening.we run politically livelycondition with always very interesting twits every day ..

Logs
** BRAZIL. 28417 USB, Sept 26 at 2215, PU2WDX working US stations with
100 watts. QRZ.com: ``PU2WDX Brazil flag Brazil, Celso Dias Dos
Santos, R: João Carazzolli N 175, Valinhos/SP - 13273-640, SP,
Brazil`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Sept 26 at 1951, RHC English not off the air, S9+20/30
into Georgia  SDR with squeal; also into Knoxville SDR S9/+10 with
same squeal so a transmission, not reception problem. 11760 not on.
Something`s always wrong at RHC. BTW, Chris Campbell hears from his
contact at RHC that they are short-staffed, so producing only one hour
of English per day, not two altho some canned announcements still say
that (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** INDONESIA. 9690, Sept 26 at 1257, JBA carrier, presumed VOI on new
frequency, widely reported last few days as only 400 watts, but with
more hours of English than before on 3325/4755. Not Aoki but EiBi
already has full schedule including Japanese until 1300, then English.
Nothing else listed on 9690 except one hour of China at 15-16 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. 11610, Sept 26 at 2221, NO signal from R. Feda, the
Arabic version of MWV toward N Africa; it`s so common that I don`t
bother to log it, but its *absence* is notable, in fact more so than
its presence, altho some DX editors can`t handle a ``nothing`` log in
a by-frequency listing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Sept 26 at 2200, 2221, direct and 2230 into UTwente,
NO signal from VOT English; nor on accidentalternate 9875, rather weak
Korea North skewed minus. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28204+ CW, Sept 26 at 2208, VVV AJ4#N/B FM -- beacon. I
thought the missing letter was E but WGB list leads to this: ``28204.0

a groundplane about 12 feet above ground. Please drop me a note if you
hear it`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28208+ CW, Sept 26 at 2219, VVV VVV DE WN2A/B, confusingly
alternating with a different ID, AK2F/B. But as in WGB list: ``28208.0
WN2A/AK2F - Budd Lake NJ USA FN20ou - #0/1 (14 Apr 2025) Note: VVV × 2
alternating IDs both /B - Tx homebrew antenna vertical A-99 pwr 3w -

"continuously" since March 1997 - see

maintenance or if I op 10 meters. Most times it is on. Also see the
QRZ.COM webpage.
https://www.qrz.com/db/WN2A/B -- Take a look at reversebeacon.net and
type in WN2A/B or AK2F/B to see where it was recently heard`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28218 CW, Sept 26 at 2212, EEEEE DE WA1LAD/B - WGB list:
``28217.5 WA1LAD/B - West Warwick RI USA FN41fq - #0 (31 Mar 2025)
Note: de ID only + eee + K`` -- QRZ.com: ``WA1LAD USA flag USA,
GILBERT D "Gil" WOODSIDE, III, 285 3rd Ave, Warwick, RI 02888, USA``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28231+ CW, Sept 26 at 2218, VVV DE N3TVV/B = full message
repeating without pause. WGB list: ``28231.3 N3TVV/B - Jim Thorpe PA
USA FN20dv - #0/1 (17 Apr 2025) Note: VVV de ID + grid`` -- QRZ.com:
``N3TVV USA flag USA, Eric T Bott, 824 Center St, Jim Thorpe, PA
18229-2208, USA. You can also Check out my beacon page @``
https://www.qrz.com/db/N3TVV/B -- many more beacons, no time to log,
likely more from NE USA area (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 24933 USB, Sept 26 at 2219, CQ12 from KQ4TDQ, Tampa Bay.
Even when 11 and 10 m are hopping, I seldom hear much activity on 12m.
QRZ.com: ``KQ4TDQ USA flag USA, Alfred "AL" Mattor, 3562 Ligonier

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2314 monitoring: confirmed Friday
September 26 at 1300 on WRMI 15770, first SW airing, S5/S8 direct.

Also confirmed Friday September 26 at 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1322.995-, S9+5 into UTwente across Europe.

Also confirmed Friday September 26 at 2030 on WRMI webcast only, 9955
not on air.

Also confirmed Friday September 26 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, S9+10 direct
but JBA in HNL  and seems undermodulated; but at 2227 check into
Knoxville SDR, S9+15 with good mod.

Also confirmed Friday September 26 from 2231 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, 3975.002+, S9+10 into UTwente. Next:

Thanks to Gerald T Pollard, Raleigh NC, for a generous seasonal check
marking autumnal equinox to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK
73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WTWW: George McClintock advises me early UT Sept 27: new
relay costing $ 26K has come in but not yet confident to run 5085, so
no WOR for another week. By October should also be re-active daytimes
on 9475 which has been inaccessible for a long time (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` chex of WBCQs, Sept 26 at 2352, into NH SDR: NO
signals on 3265, 5130; 6160 JBA presumed China; 7490 -71 Hz = 7489.929
with FKB S9+20; 9330.0 WLCR PP. Calibration corrected compared to WWV.
Did not hear any IS & ID leadups but by 0000 Sept 27, 7490 has Al ``so
many buttons - analog guy in a digital world``, before WTO theme. Now
6160 and 5130 are on with AAAWWW as well as 7490 & 9330, apparently
new show talking about Charlie Kirk, and ``pot roast``. Angela on
phone. Insults communists by equalizing them with Democrats, or vice
versa; enough of that. 0024 recheck, churches are filling up due to
Kirk. 0050 ``quadricasting``. Runs two minutes over into Hal Turner
time by 0102 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15555 USB, Sept 26 at 2202, WJHR, S9 direct playing `Rock of
Ages` in s/off to 2203*. Not heard for several days in random daytime
chex, so has been off air, or is pipsqueak totally dependent on random
sporadic E to propagate? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 770, Sept 25 circa 0605 UT, can`t hear KKOB Albuquerque NM,
which has been easy since they had to go to 12.5 kW ND STA. Think I
was still hearing it last night. Something has changed. Yes:

"KKOB will commence operation under a low power (1 kW) STA imminently
while awaiting construction of new permanent facilities for 50 kW Day
5 kW Night operation at the antenna site of KTBL.

The remaining tower and other facilities at the licensed KKOB site
will be dismantled. The Santa Fe booster, call letters also KKOB, is
unaffected by this change."

Re: Radio License Holding CBC, LLC
KKOB(AM), Albuquerque, NM
Fac. ID No.: 11251
Special Temporary Authority

Dear Applicant:

This is in reference to the request filed September 3, 2025, on behalf
of Radio License Holding CBC, LLC ("RLH"). RLH requests special
temporary authority ("STA") to operate station KKOB(AM) from an
alternate site location with a temporary antenna.

In support of the request, RLH states that because of the imminent
dismantling of the remaining antenna tower at the licensed site of
KKOB(AM), the station is requesting an STA to relocate to a nearby FM
site.

Specifically, KKOB(AM) proposes to operate from a site located 21.4
kilometers (13.2 miles) from the licensed site with a daytime and
nighttime power of 1 kilowatt. The proposed site has an existing 196
foot tower which supports the FM transmitting antenna of KABQ-FM and
the auxiliary antennas of KABQ-FM, KYLZ-FM, and KBQI-FM. The antenna
tower will be fed with a single flared skirt wire. Based on a NEC4
calculation the inverse distance field will be approximately 197.75
mV/m/km for the 1 kilowatt operation.

STA requests which involve a change in transmitter site must include
four critical elements:
(1) Loss of the licensed site must be beyond the licensee's control;
(2) STA facilities must continue to provide service to the licensed
community;
(3) STA facilities must maintain, as closely as practicable, the
licensed service area without extending it;
(4) STA facilities cannot involve the  construction of towers intended
for permanent use by the station requesting the STA.

Accordingly, the request for STA IS GRANTED AND 0000269423 IS
SUPERSEDED.

Station KKOB(AM) may operate with the following facilities:

Geographic coordinates: 35° 04´ 04.5˝ N, 106° 46´ 46.8˝ W (NAD 1983)
Frequency: 770 kHz
Hours of operation: Daytime and Nighttime
Operating power: 1 kilowatt (Daytime), 1 kilowatt (Nighttime)
Antenna type: 196 foot existing tower excited with a single flared
skirt wire
Antenna Efficiency: 197.75 mV/m/kW@1 km

It will be necessary to further reduce power or cease operation if
complaints of interference are received. KKOB(AM) must notify the
Commission when licensed operation is restored. KKOB(AM) must use
whatever means are necessary to protect workers and the public from
exposure to radio frequency radiation in excess of the Commission’s
exposure guidelines. See 47 CFR § 1.1310.

This authority expires on March 4, 2026.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF
RADIO 2314)

** U S A. 1420, Sept 25 at 0610 UT, WOC ID, but an understation says
``98.7`` - Only corrrelation in the NRC AM Log among the 60 stations
on 1420 is KUJ Walla2 Washington, very unlikely. But WTFDA FM DB hits
a very likely one: ``K254CI relay of:KWBF-1420 98.7 LUBBOCK TX 0.099

While NRC AM Log shows its //FM on 98.3 but same call K254CI. Channel

UNIDENTIFIED. 21645, Thu Sept 25 at 1450, weak unID language, Doppler
flutter, almost the OSOB until I came to stronger 21800 with the
SOH/CNR1 jamming radio war. However, both EiBi and Aoki show such a
