Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Saturday June 25 from 1415, I`m
listening via LU4AA remote near Buenos Aires, but no signal yet from
LRA36. Finally comes on with ID at *1445, as I hear it in background
while mainly listening to a Beethoven string quartet on 90.1 KUCO
webcast. Runs S5/S7, sufficient but not totally overcoming noise
level. I don`t check any other remotes, let alone even try direct.

After some music, at 1459 ID and official sign-on multilingual that
this will be in Spanish; in Spanish, German, English, Korean. We are
in Cyclo 2022; ID, staff list with military ranx, only the boss Édgar
has a masculine name. 1500.5 the Antártida themesong. 1504 poem about
the landscapes around the bases. 1505 ID as La Radio Pública, song.
1507 live greetings among the YLs; this is the eighth program of the
2022 cycle/season; ``audaz, bajo el cielo más austral``, conversation
including geo coördinates, weather; atardecer = sunset or twilight? at
15:05 local = 1805 UT already. 1512 contact info including two phone
numbers, whatsapp, gmail, FB; stream via nacional.com.ar, 96.7 FM,
postal address but not in detail. 1513 harp music and ``es su
compañía``.

1515 I have to refresh LU4AA SDR and notice that Gary Pence is also on
it. 1519 chat about 20 June being flag day, as it was the date that
Belgrano died - in 1820y at age 50. Other This Day in History items
for June 21; 22 which is día del futbolista argentino, and June 24
algo. 1525 canned ID, song. 1530 ID with chimes, ``su compañía``; chat
acknowledging listeners in Argentina, Colombia, unknown. 1536 contact
info again. 1537 again about flag day June 20 = Belgrano`s deathday.
1548 rock song; June 22 is birthday of a colega. 1551 about the
shortest day of year just past.

Chat past 1600, admits they are there to maintain Argentine
sovereignty. 1605 songs, hard rock music past 1615, but stops at 1620*
and nothing more for a few minutes, so they turned it off without any
formal sign-off or despedida, typical. Whatever became of the promised
repeat on Saturdays at 1800? Still nothing there at 1817 into same
remote.

Gary Pence, Dallas, also tells me: ``Hi Glenn, at least they are
consistent on KFS SE array in Half Moon Bay CA. It just has a trace
on the waterfall with that opening song around 1445z. It still seems
it`s the only USA SDR with a dedicated directional antenna in that
direction I can copy. Thanks, Gary`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. Re: [WOR] Rádio Voz Missionária ever upward -- Rodney
Johnson replies at 0622 June 25, ``Greetings From Minnesota! I
stumbled upon them this evening. They Sync-locked pretty well on 9675
on my Etón e1 and was scratching my head wondering who they were until
I remembered Glenn mentioning them on recent WoR show. Utwente SDR
could hear them as well!

9674.95 kHz(v) 0557 25 JUN 2022 - RÁDIO VOZ MISSIONÁRIA (BRAZIL)
SINPO = 25332. Portuguese, male announcer talking followed by music
DJ'd by male announcer. (// music to stream on
https://www.radiovozmissionaria.com.br/ ). I estimated frequency by
USB zero-beat method. Utwente SDR AM-sync locked on 9674973.08 Hz
(variable, and drifting slowly downward). 250 ft unterminated BoG
antenna pointed E/W w/MFJ-1020C active antenna (used as a
preamplifier/preselector), Etón e1XM. 10 kW, beam Az 30°, bearing
140°. Received at Plymouth, United States, 9229 KM from transmitter at
Florianópolis, SC. Local time: 0057. 73s --Rodney
http://swldx.tumblr.com ``

Maybe short-term jumping? My tunearound circa 0630 June 25 seemed still
about 9673.2 but did not log or measure exactly (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CHINA. 21530, June 25 at 0632, JBA carrier, the OSOB and therefore
the SSOB; what else? Aoki shows CNR1 jammer vs Sound of Hope. Neat to
be getting anything on 13m in the summer nightmiddle (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9440, June 25 at 2159, R. Cairo is on, horrible crackle and
hum, S9+35/40 into UTwente, so bad one cannot be positive the language
is English, but the timesignal at 2200 is close to correct. As bad as
it has even been. For some days this was off air and had not been
checking for it daily, but certainly on now and totally useless, worse
than ever. Something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** MEXICO. 6185, re my log of XEPPM at 0638 June 24, whether again
running all night? Ron Howard replies: ``On June 24, I tuned in to
6185 (Mexico) from 0552+ UT, to hear low modulation the entire time;
jazz music and jazz vocals; still with jazz at 0840 & 0912; EZL songs
from 0927; clearly still on the air at 0958 UT and possibly/
tentatively on past 1030+, when mixing with China (CHBC); certainly
two stations heard. Ron, California`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. Note in previous report under USA there was included a
log of OK, Stillwater, 94.3 translator of KSPI 780 nevertheless
branded as ``Pete 94.3``. I meant to add that the *real* KSPI-FM with
separate programming on 93.7 has been abnormally weak lately, at least
into the garaged caradio, which is just fine for DX openings. Nominal
16 kW ERP at 270 m HAAT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830.021, June 25 at 2203, V. of Tüerkiye, S9+45 into
UTwente, VG except for light hum, during news. Paying more attention
at 2223 for `Feeling Supreme` : `Healthy Life` -- by YL announcer
clearly enough to be sure that`s the subtitle. This time about natural
suggestions for healthy eyes, a long list of foods starting with dark
leafy greens; look away from computer every 20 minutes for 20 seconds;
wear sunglasses yearound vs UV; carefully apply and remove makeup.
2231 something about cheese-making from various milx. 2234 Turkish
Cuisine, etc.

After sign-off, IS keeps playing and at 2257 interrupted by German IDs
twice a minute. Germans already umlaut the U, but still pronounce the
rest of it -kei, as in ``kigh``, not kiye, so they are not forced to
Tuerkify the name like English speakers? Not fair! 2300 timesignal and
opening German -- now it`s lo-fi like over a phone line, giving time
for the intentional German hour on SW, 1130 and/or 1730 UT, NOT now -
and chopped off air late by 2301*. Something`s always erroneous at
Emirler and/or awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2144 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
June 25 at 1930 on WRN North America webcast. Also running slightly

level rather than usual solid groundwave. Next:

in Harris, UPMI {pop. 30 in 2010y, just west of Escanaba}. Norway and
Crystal Falls are near Iron Mountain MI inland next to WI. Would WIMK
be covering both Escanaba and Green Bay?
WIMK 93.1 IRON MOUNTAIN MI 93.1 K ROCK 100.0 kW 180.0 m --- 1331 km =
827 mi``

Doug Smith replies: ``I would not expect WIMK to cover both Escanaba
and Green Bay. Its official contour map on its FCC Public File doesn't
reach *either* city. (It doesn't say but I'm assuming that's the 60dBu
interference-protected service area)``

Well, I heard what I heard. Maybe Iron Mountaineers look to those
metropoli and/or WIMK get into theres via translators or HD relays?
Now another reply; many thanks to Chris Kadlec of
http://www.chriskadlec.com/ for this:

``Glenn, Some info on your UP catches and your questions:

*90.7 is likely Milwaukee, which gets out well in the region, though
hard to confirm that without any program info.

*93.1 K-Rock can be heard across most of the UP and well into
Wisconsin down toward Green Bay, to an extent. Green Bay is the main
population center in this area, so naturally you will hear many Green
Bay ads for shopping, attractions, and obviously this is Packers
country too (much of the UP is). So yes, this is very normal to hear
Green Bay and Escanaba ads on any of the Iron Mountain stations as
well as anything “Northwoods” for northern Wisconsin. 93.1 regularly
smothers my local WMPA here in Fremont at 192 miles and has a massive
coverage area. Interestingly, also a regular in Sudbury, Ontario. I
can hear it every time I’m in town along with other Iron Mountain
stations at almost 350 miles.

* GTO originates from the HD of WKQS, not WQKS. I see this in the
database as you noted and went ahead and fixed it for anyone else
running into it. This also covers a good swath of the UP. Most of the
250w translators are just as good as full-powers in their coverage as
there is little to interfere with the signals.

* I agree, 99.5 is likely Marquette over anything else. Most of what
99.5 in Omro runs is Oshkosh area ads, all inland stuff. 99.5 Yes in
Sault Ste. Marie, that is indeed my own note in that entry about the
STA. They are still running (along with 105.5) on 1% power after 5
years, operating from a different tower site right on the Canadian
border. They barely get out at all (about 40 miles usually) and I
wouldn’t even entertain them as an Es target, let alone tropo. I’ve
DXed on more than two dozen Lake Huron radio sites and that station is
just totally absent nowadays where it used to be a regular at long
distances.

* 100.3 with Eastern UP weather would be Marquette (not really any
other choices anyway). Marquette is central UP really. Western UP
would be all the areas in the Duluth market (west of Houghton is all
Duluth FM/TV stations). Marquette stations cover everything from Sault
Ste. Marie to Houghton and the Superior North Shore areas too as they
are from a very central location in the region. Northern Michigan
stations DO give weather for the Eastern UP quite regularly as most of
those stations can be heard in the eastern UP too, but I don’t think
Q100 does that, so likely Marquette instead. -Chris Kadlec`` (Glenn

** CUBA. 15230, June 24 at 1427, RHC is S9 here but just barely
modulated, unlike 15140 at S9+10. Something`s always wrong at RHC

** MEXICO. 6185-, June 24 at 0638, XEPPM S8/S9+10, piano and vocal

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. June 24 at 0100 UT, DXMAP shows a Es MUF spike of 112 MHz at
a good distance to the east of here, so I hasten to the caradio in the
hot garage. I now have a lot of experience tuning the 92-98 MHz range
for what`s DX and what`s not, fortunately with quite a few frequencies
free of locals and semis, but all with some fringers at least. At
0102, something on 93.1 barely overcomes the Kansan, with an
artificially sped-up legal ID of maybe three stations so fast that who
could copy it in detail? They must be ashamed of those weird call
letters they have to say instead of whatever their cute branding may
be --- but I do copy one call in the spurt, altho not 100% sure of it:
WCFC? But then the slogan ``broadcasting from Wildwood, the doo-wop
capital of the world``. That`s pretty definitive, immediately leading
to New Jersey in a search:

https://wildwoodsnj.com/the-wildwoods-nj-the-doo-wop-capital-of-the-world/
And looking at the 93.1s in NJ, WTFDA db leads us to:
WEZW relays: WMID 1340 93.1 WILDWOOD CREST NJ CLASSIC OLDIES WMID 4.1
kW 68.0 m 38-59-34 74-48-48 61D8 //WCMC 1230
Therefore the ID I copied was really WCMC, but I was really hearing on
93.1 WEZW, which is somehow also in a threesome with WMID.
Search radio-locator.com on WCMC and you get:
https://www.classicoldieswmid.com/
which is for ``Classic Oldies WMID, 1340 AM Atlantic City, 1230 AM
Cape May, and NOW ON 93.1 FM!`` --- The distance fromto Wildwood is
2044 km = 1270 mi. Or Wildwood Crest just a smidgin closer if that`s
the real site. Not too far but pushing it, near the southern tip of
NJ, rare state here on FM. NYC FMs are virtually unheard at 2124 km =
1320 mi from Manhattan. And this was the only Es DX heard or IDed in
this session. Otherwise:

94.3, June 24 at 0109 with weather, but temps et al. are very like
Enid, since it`s ``Pete 94.3``, i.e. K232FI, the Stillwater OK
250-watt translator tail wagging the dog of KSPI 780, then rock. But
not usually heard with 94.3 dominated by the Bott station in Kansas
with which this is CCI (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** U S A. June 24 at 2100 UT I see on DXMAP Es MUF above 90 MHz to the
NE, so head for the hot car in the hot garage where the outside temp
is 104F. All logs on my own ears in real time, on my own radio, no
internet access, no recordings; but notes researched later mainly on
the WTFDA FM Database. Stock 2004 Nissan radio with no RDS, and
fender-mounted vertical antenna only. Note the rather low powers
listed for some of them, all same H&V unless H only. m figures next
are antenna height above average terrain. All times strictly UT.
Distances approx., city-to-city, not site-to-site.

94.1 at 2115, ``24/7 --- Hits 94-1 The Breeze``. At 2135, ad for
Thomas Theater Group in Marquette; 2136, forecast hi 74? degrees,
``from WJMN Local-3 meteorologist for 94-1 The Breeze``:
WUPK 94.1 MARQUETTE MI SOFT AC 94-1 THE BREEZE 4.4 kW 116.0 m Soft
Rock --- 1424 km = 885 mi

94.5 at 2118, Y-94, ad for St. Joseph`s Health; something between
Utica/Rome and Syracuse; free jazz festival in Syracuse. This is one
NY catch way out of the WI/UPMI area for all the rest:
WYYY 94.5 SYRACUSE NY ADULT CONTEMPORARY Y-94 100.0 kW 198.0 m Y94 The
80's to now Adult Hits --- 1993 km = 1239 mi

90.7 at 2122, NPRish talk squeezing between my adjacents, unseems //
ATC on 91.7 KOSU

92.3 at 2124, about Wisconsin football; UW Badgers. 92.3 has three
``full`` powers in WI, each only 6 kW ERP! Clintonville more likely in
PTA west of Green Bay; but Spencer in central WI has a sports format:
WOSQ 92.3 SPENCER WI SPORTS RADIO 92.3 6.0 kW 91.0 m
WJMQ 92.3 CLINTONVILLE WI FROG COUNTRY 92.3 6.0 kW 91.0 m Today's New
Hit Country --- 1195 km = 742 mi

93.1 at 2125, Hardees ad; TDS in Norway and Crystal Falls; 2129 Island
Resort and Casino; adstring also mention Green Bay and downtown
Escanaba [MI]; 2129 & 2133, ``93 K-Rock``. Island Resort & Casino is
in Harris, UPMI. Norway and Crystal Falls are near Iron Mountain MI
inland next to WI. Would WIMK be covering both Escanaba and Green
Bay?
WIMK 93.1 IRON MOUNTAIN MI 93.1 K ROCK 100.0 kW 180.0 m --- 1331 km =
827 mi

But there is also a 93.1 translator in GB itself; no specific ID:
W226BD relays: WGEE 93.5 93.1 GREEN BAY WI COUNTRY 93.5 & 99.7 DUKE FM
0.25 kW 39.7 mH only. Unheard WGEE 93.5 itself is in New London WI,
somewhat west of GB. GB: 1228 km = 763 mi

97.5 at 2130, talk CCI to KMOD Tulsa; 2137, ``Ishpeming, Good Time
Oldies, 97-5 GTO``, so must be this 250-watt translator!
W248BU relays:WQKS-HD3 97.5 ISHPEMING MI OLDIES 97.5 GTO 0.25 kW 320.0
mH only --- but WQKS even if it have separate programing on its HD3 is
way off in Alabama; does not make sense; typo in listing here?
WQKS-FM 96.1 MONTGOMERY AL HD ADULT CONTEMPORARY KISS 96.1 0.9 kW
250.0 m. Ishpeming: 1405 km = 873 mi

Then I search out all the GTOs in MI. There are four of them all
250-watt translators of different AM stations. Two of them are in the
UP on different frequencies, maybe WQXO with a somewhat similar call?
W249DR relays:WQXO-1400 97.7 MUNISING MI
W297CD relays:WMPL-920 107.3 HANCOCK MI

99.5 at 2139, ``Museum and lighthouse open ---``. Well, it sure isn`t
Oklahoma. So I look for Great Lake coastals in PTA of NE WI and UPMI:
Not WI, as there is only Omro west of Oshkosh and a Madison
translator. In MI most likely this coastal near Marquette and
Ishpeming:
WNGE 99.5 NEGAUNEE MI 99.5 K ROCK 3.6 kW 131.0 m --- 1405 km = 873 mi
Also this further east on the UP probably beyond the PTA:
WYSS 99.5 SAULT STE. MARIE MI CONTEMPORARY HIT RADIO YES 99.5 100.0 kW
86.0 m Today's Hit Music Top 40 8/2021: remains on 1.3 kw STA since
5/2018. All other 99.5 in MI in non coastal cities or translators
further south in the LP. SSM: 1590 km = 988 mi

100.3 at 2140, weather for eastern UP, call like WEGN? on the Radio
Results Network, and ``100.3 The Point``. RRN is made up of 15
stations in the UP, including 93.1 K-Rock above and this tho it`s in
the western UP:
WUPT 100.3 GWINN MI CLASSIC HITS THE POINT 100.0 kW 156.0 m
MARQUETTE'S CLASSIC HITS --- 1405 km = 873 mi

101.3 at 2143, CCI with Wichita, ad for Midwest Kia, but that turns
out to be Wichita, KFDI

104.7 at 2146, The Fool? The Pool? No, it`s just The Bull, Ponca City
OK

107.5 at 2148, Harrelson`s ad? zone.com? no hits but mentions Green
Bay, so this is just south of there:

with FM, all on other frequencies, are in TX, KY and IA

Now the opening seems to be dying and I sure hope so as I`m in need of
R&R inside to the cool and computer, where I see the DXMAP shows the
nexus of lots of DX including mine has been an MUF peak over southern
Iowa. After that it is indeed falling below the FM band, whew (Glenn

QRMing RV. Walt Salmaniw, BC also noted that at 11810-11825. I
continue to urge checking for fifth harmonic on 19725, at least via

** BRAZIL. Correxion: somehow a way-off typo not noticed by anyone
before me June 23. RVM NOT on ``9635.318V`` but fixed to:

Direct at 0635 June 22: 9673.318V, S6/S9 hetting something weaker on
9675.0, presumably a non-jammer CNR1 Beijing. And now:

9673.26V, June 23 at 0633, RVM, S7/S9 with music wobbling around this
way-off frequency from licensed 9665 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO
2144)

** CHINA. 13920, June 23 at 1424, CNR1 jammer at S5/S7; also at 1429,
13530 S7 vs CODAR; 13130 & 13020 S5/S7 vs unheard Sound of Hope (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13700, June 23 at 1425, RHC S9/+10 here but with FMish
spurblobs with F# tone at roughly 13790, 13769, 13629, 13562.
Unrelated 13740 fundamental also on S9 but JBM. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2144)

** OKLAHOMA. 90.7, June 23 at 0058 UT, lo-fi NWS severe thunderstorm
advisory for Dodge City. 0101 KJIL ads including for Lamar, Colorado.
This is one non-commercial?? band channel normally open here, but KJIL
is now audible despite heavy ACI from both sides. All this on caradio
in hot garage. I am looking for Es but storms in NW OK and SW KS are
tropoing a bit. But which KJIL relay on 90.7? WTFDA db shows only KS
is 180-watt-V only K214AU Sharon Springs in the NW.

Rather, by Jove, this must be OK: KJOV Woodward, 26 kW, 97 m. Then I
find other Woodward signals enhanced: 88.1 KWOU, 23.5 kW, 224.1 m,
which I would dearly love to hear like this always; 100.1 edging local
LP on 99.9, KWFX, 100 kW, 264.5 m. And talk on 92.3 I first guessed KS
but likely also Wdwd KMZE. Woodward is only 136 km = 85 statute miles
city-to-city from Enid. I continue to resent this small town having
local full-power relays of public radio KGOU and classical KUCO,
unlike much larger Enid; it helps to be relatively isolated but still
culturally attached (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** UKRAINE [non]. 5010, June 23 at 1210 check when I happen to awaken,
JBA carrier only from WRMI aimed south as still on skedgrid with
Ukrainian Radio relay at 12-13 except Fridays, despite dropping it at
0500 on 7730. Is it really still on, and if so, with any new
programming, including English at first? You can tell if it`s new by
the Day # of the war, which on June 24 e.g. would be #121 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2144)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, June 22 at 1536, first check for LRA36
this Wednesday: NO signals into three Argentina, one Uruguay and four
Brasil SDRs. Could it have come and gone already, or not at all today?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 4924.8, June 22 at 0647, no signal from Tefé, relaying
Aparecida or not. That reactivation was only briefly (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 9673.30V, June 22 at 0255, R. Voz Missionária straying
further than ever from nominal 9665. Via Campo, Brasil SDR, hard to
pinpoint but if tuned to 9673.30, S4/S6, carrier offset fluxuates
between +78 and +128 Hz. Then tuned to 9673.40, fluxuates +40 to minus
57 Hz. 0406 recheck same tuner, 9673.30 plus 10 to 26 Hz.

Direct at 0635 June 22: 9635.318V, S6/S9 hetting something weaker on
9675.0, presumably a non-jammer CNR1 Beijing.

Wolfgang Büschel had reported earlier June 21: ``ZYE890 R. Voz
Missionária, Camboriú SC. Web player 9673.290 kHz centered 2306 UT,
up 10 to 30 Hertz shift on 9673.300 kHz
<https:www.radiovozmissionaria.com.br>
And web player via URL
https://www.radiovozmissionaria.com.br/radio/?w=janela
[selected SDR options, span 12.5 kHz RBW 15.3 Hertz]
(wb df5sx, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews June 21)``

Later, June 22 at 1540, finding no Antarctica, my Campo is still tuned
to 9673.00, with a good S9+15 of RVM music, +227/243 Hz offset
fluxuating less than before (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA [and non]. 6030, June 22 at 0645, some talk JBA under
wallofnoise Cuban jamming otherwise against nothing. Seems emphatic
and possibly English, as a gospel huxter, but more likely comedian on
CFVP Funny 1060. Why in the world doesn`t CKMX get a change to a
clearer SW frequency? Such things are unthinkable to domestic oriented
broadcasters. On 6030 not only Radio Martí and consequent excessive
jamming, but per Aoki also problematic at least during our night
hours: CNR1 DRM Beijing, Ethiopia; possibly borderline India, Myanmar
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13700, June 22 at 1410+, this RHC transmitter is really
haywire now; instead of two main spurblobs equally displaced above and
below, I`m hearing blobs all over the band coming and going, best
recognized by the F# tone when tuned in FM mode even if any
recognizable talk modulation lax: and they are very broad/wide so
frequencies cited are more approx. than ever: 13792, 13748, 13652,
13602, 13628. Another check at 1453: 13635, 13662, 13730, 13767,
13798, 13829-13832, 13864, 13900. Now fundamental 13700 is S9+10/20.
Somethings` always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. Re my last reports of no signal from 9440 R. Cairo English,
Alan Holder replies on the WOR iog June 22:

``[WOR] Radio Cairo back on air --- I listen out for them every day.
The last broadcast in any language was on June 16. It's unusual for
them to be off air for such a long period. I sent an e-mail to their
Propagation Department on June 21, asking whether they have abandoned
short wave.

I haven't received a reply yet, but I notice that today they are back
again on 9410 at 1600 in Albanian. The distortion is still there
accompanied by the usual loud hum. I will listen tonight to see if
English reappears at 2115. [did it? missed checking here -gh]

The second transmitter (no hum, but severe distortion) which was used
for Turkish, Russian and French (9900, 9870 and 9810) has been off air
for 7 weeks. [Later, at 1752: The second transmitter on tonight with
Turkish at 1700 on 9900 after a long absence. Low level modulation
with some distortion as before.]

Recently, there were a number of consecutive days when the English
programme was heard with perfect audio, but the transmitter hum made
listening very tiring.

With 9 transmitters on site, they must be able to fire up one of the
others, or if not working, they could cannibalize them for spare parts
for the two that are operational. It is likely that the technicians
lack the expertise to undertake any serious repair work on their
ageing transmitters. Alan Holder, G4ZBH, Isle of Wight, U.K.`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 6185, June 22 at 0643, no signal from XEPPM --- but had
reactivated yesterday. Off now because per Manuel Méndez, Spain, they
signed off at 0502, which was the original schedule before they
started staying on all night. Misleading ``100 kW`` power refers to
day signal on MW 1060 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, June 22 at 0644, still no signal from VON. Have not
seen any reports of this nor 11770- for some weeks (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. Re my log on 15170+, Ivan Zelenyi replies June 21 on
HCDX: ``These are my little observations of the radio broadcasting of
Saudi Arabia: on June 17 from 0400 UT at a frequency of 15170 kHz
there was a program “Radio Saudi International” in Urdu. On the same
day from 1600 on the frequency of 9885 kHz there was a program “Radio
Saudi International” in Urdu. Also “Radio Saudi International” in
Indonesian is received on 9675 kHz instead of Turkish programs. I have
not heard programs in Pashto, Farsi, Tajik and Uzbek for a long time
either`` --- thus it appears that its scheduling is very erratic or
there have been major changes as yet not compiled. The 15170 broadcast
was supposedly nothing but Arabic Qur`an 0300-0600. WRTH 2022 had Urdu
only at 1200-1500 on 13775 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2143 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday June 22
from 2100:21 on WBCQ 7490, S7/S9 with storm crashes, -70 Hz into
Maryland SDR = 7489.930; exact time correlated with WWV on same SDR.
Direct at 2128, JBA as usual in summer. Next:

0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455? to WNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

For these noncommercial services, voluntary financial support is much
appreciated, thanks this week to Joe Caberlin, VE1EJ, Ontario for some
US$ to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5950, 4980 & 4975, June 22 at 0648, WRMI-8 and WRMI-4 are
off the air --- but not an outage, rather deliberate schedule change
per skedgrid now dated June 21: WRMI-4 still shown as 4980 but NO
broadcasts for 24 hours; WRMI-8 on 5950 which had been 24h, is now
shown 19-04 UT only. There may have been some other reduxions.

This leaves TOMBS overnight with ONLY 5800, 5850, 7570, 7780, 9395,
9955 from WRMI; 6160- from WBCQ; 3215, 4840 when not dead air, 5890
from WWCR. Ten frequencies, o my! So hard to choose which ones to
avoid. Well, eleven, including the WWCR leapfrog on 5980, several more
if including the bonus 9955 spurs. 9455 WRMI still on with SMTV at
0648 but distorted (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15770, June 22 at 2129, no signal from WRMI-9, which is
still scheduled 11-02 UT including VOA Flashpoint Ukraine at 1930 M-F.
Elsewhere on 19m band, VOA Grimesland Bambara inbooming at S9+30; NZ
15720 also audible and 15825 WWCR JBA as usual without Es boost; altho
K-index is 3. Also as usual, WRMI-7 Radio Africa 21525 is still a JBA
carrier at 2124 despite nominal 2100*. Something`s odd at Okeechobee
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9275, June 22 at 2136, WMLK S7/S8 with gospel huxter, yawn;
300 kW?? Slightly weaker than 50 kW neighbor WINB 9265 at S6/S9 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1130, June 22 at 2122 UT check, KLEY Wellington KS still
dead air on groundwave (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 11835, June 22 at 0639, RV S7/S9 with drumming concluding
the public-announcements segment, into a song; JBA on 7890, third and
second harmonix of 3945 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 10121.30 USB, June 22 at 0655, 2-way contacts. If hams,
supposedly only Australia allows phone on this band; but certainly not
in English, unrecognized language, so intruders? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
