open channels, May 29 after 1500 UT: 8, 12, 14, 20, 21, 28, 30, 34,

with PSIP ID as KTAL-DT. That`s Texarkana ARKLATEX, site in NW corner
of LA, 6-1 with NBC pre-Indy show. The rest: 6-2 Laff, 6-3 Cozi, 6-4
HSN, all of which match:

unless I spell out LOUISIANA after Vivian, town near transmitter site,

via remotes in Argentina and Brazil, no signal from LRA36, until
*1510.5 abrupt cut on end of music and formal sign-on with the canned
multi-lingual ID including English that this will be in Spanish. It`s
about S5 into Buenos Aires. Also as Radio Nacional Arcángel San
Gabriel; Nacional, La Radio Pública. Names of personnel starting with
the boss whose name sounds masculine. Otherwise mostly feminine
voices. 1516 historical talk starting with something in 1810y. 1517.5
song. 1519.4 says it`s the fourth program of the 2022 season. 1522
contact info on various social nets, etc. 1523 song. 1527 efemérides
for 25 de mayo, which is the original date of this repeat = this day
in history, several years from 1812 onwards almost to the present.
1530 ID. Checking SDR users I see some others in London, Chicago. 1537
brief QRM burst during conversation; 1539 song. 1543 contact info
again. 1544 mentions FM 96.7. Today`s temp: 8 centigrade, which seems
awfully hot. 1547 a feature from the cocina = kitchen, interview with
a male, chef? 1556 I check Brasília remote where it`s only S2. Campo
has better S3/S5. 1558 2-way QRM again at BsAs, so I switch to Campo.
A lot of the music is guitarish. 1608 suddenly stops and nothing
further in next few minutes.

Meanwhile, Manuel Méndez, Spain reported: ``Hi Glenn, Yesterday Friday
I contacted with the station via Whatsapp, here my message:
"Buenas tardes, el miércoles 25 no salieron al aire, por favor,
podrían decirme si saldrán mañana sábado?" Y aquí la respuesta:

"Hola buenas noches. Si salió el programa el miércoles y mañana

Well, on Wed May 25 I had monitored Brazilian & Argentine remotes
between 1430 and 1546, and there was never any sign of it. Previously
they have come on late like 1510, clock wrong? Nor was there any
propagation disturbance, as WWV reported:

``The estimated planetary K-index at 1500 UTC on 25 May was 1.
No space weather storms were observed for the past 24 hours.``

One must wonder what the four-woman crew are doing besides one hour a
week of radio? More broadly, what is the entire Base accomplishing, in
scientific research? Programming is not about that, rather historical
stuff, much of it about Argentina rather than Antarctica. Or are they
there merely as a nationalistic outpost to bolster an unacceptable
claim to part of the International Continent? Calling it ``Antártida
Argentina`` does not make it so. Note: from next week/month when it`s
June, there is supposed to be another repeat Saturdays at 18 UT (Glenn

why AW runs this only in the summers when it would be much more useful
in winter nights; as if 180 degrees out of synch with propagation
norms. SAM reading on remote is 154 Hz above 3265, confirmed accurate
on WWV 10000. As usual runs past 0100, JIP Hal Turner. Recheck

life, and to take music requests, so is it live? Finally some music
from 1610. Cut off abruptly at 1659.5* but similar signal back on at
*1700 which in the low-res `292 sked is `Bobs 60s Splash`, oldies and
later DJ speaking. From 292 it`s totally unclear which site(s) be in
use at which hours. I knew about VORW coming, only indirectly from
SWLing Post via AER in Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6165, 6100, 6000, May 27 at 0615, these RHC English
frequencies are OFF; you never know what combination will last the
final hour. Now leaving only 6060, but unusable below horrible
self-inflicted humbuzz. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,

** CUBA. May 27 at 0625+, I survey all the Cuban jamming frequencies
running now despite having no targets whatsoever. Mainly would be
Radio Martí, but that`s totally off SW overnight. The pulsing sounds
vary from one to another in pitch, rate and intensity. 11930, 11860,
11775, 9955, 9805, 9565, 7405, 7365, 7355, 7335, 6030, 5980, 5955.
Details: 11775 never an RM frequency: now would be jamming Dengê
Welat! 9955 below WRMI with TOMBS not even in Spanish and certainly
not exile programming. Heaviest wall-of-noise on 7335, 6030. 5980 vs
leapfrog mixing product of WWCR 5890 over 5935. 5955 over a decade ago
had Radio República, 5954 via Costa Rica: once jammed, always jammed!
The totally incompetent and extremely wasteful DentroCuban Jamming
Command. Think of all the nutritious meals which could have been
provided to undernourished Cubans for the wasted cost of all that
juice. Not that jamming is ever justified even when correctly timed

speech in English, a live Caribbean event? Toward end of speech, St

from a Nicaraguan. This is not // mainstream RHC Spanish on 11760,
11670, 9710, 9535; while VP undermod 6000 may be //. This would be the
`Mesa Redonda` TV audio which is supposedly scheduled Mon-Thu only. No

Thus resuming after last week`s 3rd-Friday pre-emptions.

I tuned in earlier: at 1759, 7290 JBA in Chinese, 1800 timesig and CNR
theme; *1800.9 Kostinbrod cuts on, JIP Feature Story News as always in
progress, UN News; 1809 starting some DJ music show but only a
fragment until 1815 IRRS ID still plugging the Milano PO box which is
otherwise disallowed, and into WOR.

Jean-Michel Aubier, France also reports: ``World of Radio heard this
Friday at 1815 on 7290 1323 and 918 and also at 2030 on 1323 and 918
Nothing on 207 (via a web-receiver in northern Italy)``

I also confirm Fri May 27 at 2030.7 oo AM Italia 918 & 1323, not 207,
same reception as before. At 2029 tune-in a DJ was just welcoming us
to his country music show, and got only 3 notes played before chopped
