Glenn Hauser logs June +20/21, 2023  View Printable Version
Thursday, June 22 2023

Logs
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Wed June 21 at 1752, LRA36 talk
already on the air, 1754 sounds like live ``buenas tardes`` greeting
at 15 local time, between Sra. Menéndez and the usual male host. No
signal direct altho imagination-level bit of the reduced carrier; of
the four Argentine SDRs, the best one is offline; two get a trace at
best, but the other one is weak but readable; steadily fades down to
JBA by 1925 and not at all by 2015 but unknown if or when it turned
off. Anyhow, now seems regular roughly 18-21 UT on Wed & Sat. I missed
checking for those last week (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA [non]. 12005, June 21 at 2130, annual BBCWS midwinter
special for Antarcticans, greetings from families with bits of music
interspersed such as ``I`m a Believer`` twice near the start. I first
tried several remotes in Argentina, Uruguay, RSA, some getting some
signal but inadequate. So I settle on UTwente, where I thought
Woofferton might be skipping over, but sufficient at S9+20; and 13810
slightly weaker at S9+10 and minus 3 Hz offset. Third frequency, 7255
via UAE a very poor third everywhere if at all. I don`t get it why
they disused Ascension, which should have put the best signal
southward. Uncounted, but there were so many quick greetings that it`s
hard to believe the target audience no more than 32 to 40 down there.
Of course, each could receive greetings from several family, friends.
At 2145 a quick check for my direct reception: both 12005 & 13810
audible but very poor. 2159 closing with ``Jingle Bells``, off at
2200* sharp. Anyhow, BBC are repeating it later and streaming, and I
hope ondemand for convenience. Yes, Alan Pennington, bdxc-news, says,

``But also now available to listen to online at
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/w3ct5hqt
(though always sounds better coming through the ether!)`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ARGENTINA [non]. 9395, UT Tue June 20 at 0100, RAE VG in English
via WRMI; always gives day of produxion at outset, this time ``Monday,
June 12`` -- more than a week ago. WRMI sked now shows RAE English
0100-0130 Tue-Sat on 9395 - but is there only one new program per
week? Repeated over & over? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855 & 15520, Wed June 21 at 2200, good signals from token
English of SNR into UTwente, far off-target but I conveniently have it
running after BBC/Antarctica. News includes about the latest migrant
boat loss off Canarias. 2205 feature previewing some operas this fall
at Teatro Real. Singer explains how different languages lead to
different interpretations. 2220 about a paleontologist in 1868 whose
cave paintings he discovered in Altamira were dismissed as fraudulent
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, June 21 at 2200, no signal from VOT English for us
into UTwente, nor at 2207 recheck. Something`s always erroneous at
Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2195 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees.
Dear Glenn: Confirming World of Radio #2195, WRMI: 5850, very weak,
jamming, 0159, June 17 UTC 2023 [Sat]
15770, Signal S5, confirmed, 2258, 2259, June 17 UTC 2023 [Sat]
9395, static, QRN, S7, S8 signal, 0159, June 18 UTC 2023 [Sun 0130-
NEW]
9395, 2330, June 20 UTC 2023 [Tue] (Lemke, Richard -AB) 73’s, Richard,
June 21, 2023``

Confirmed Tue June 20 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+15 into Missouri SDR,
S9/+20 direct.

Also confirmed Wednesday June 21 at 2100 on WRMI 7490 -67 Hz =
7489.933 into Virginia SDR, noisy S5/S8. Next:

0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW [NEW to be confirmed]

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support
is appreciated; via PayPal not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15150, June 21 at 0405, WMLK again, S9+20/25 into UTwente
and I could believe it`s really 300 kW; but I miss sign-on if any, nor
any real IDs; amateurish singing in progress, hymn? By 0412 presumed
DEJOM with Yahweh stuff, perpetual obsession with ``correct`` name for
their deity. At 0433 I check the website, still with no new info,
altho the ``live radio`` plays -- but NOT // 15150, in fact an
entirely different speaker. So far I have seen zero other reports
about this in all the DX sources I have; no one has noticed but me
starting two nights ago? Then, here`s another, June 21 at 0840 in
bdxc-news:

``WMLK (Assemblies of Yahweh) Bethel, Pennsylvania currently on 15150
khz with a good signal here at 0830 tune in, usual preaching from the
late Jacob O Meyer. SIO 344. First time I've heard WMLK on this
frequency or at this time although they have been registering the
frequency for many years in the HFCC. 15150 was first reported by
Glenn Hauser on 19 June. WMLK schedule is Sunday to Friday: 0400-0900
on 15150, 1700-2200 on 9275. 73s Dave Kenny, Caversham Berks, AOR
7030+ / 25m longwire``

9275, still no WMLK here at 2057 June 21 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085 & 9475, still no activity from WTWW; however George
McClintock tells me June 21 there`s still a possibility of
reactivation if some airtime can be sold. Partially depleted tubes may
be sold on EBay. Vines are now overgrowing the two WTWW buildings. A
tree fell over on one of the feedlines. SFAW HQ in Colorado is still
paying electric bill at minimum rate of $ 2K per month, altho axual
consumption has been nothing but air-conditioning (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 88.3, a reply to my first unID of my June 14 FM DX report,
``88.3 at 1714, mentions Leesburg? which is in N VA, NW of WDC.
Nothing there; I now think it was probably Lynchburg as in later 88.3
log below.``

Tim McVey: ``You can't rule out 88.3 WQIQ in Spotsylvania. WQIQ is
part of Virginia Tech's excellent large-area network of stations (IQ
Radio), and a fulltime NPR affiliate. Daily they carry segments on
news from around Virginia. That seems like a reasonable option based
on PTA (other Leesburgs are in FL, GA, AL, OH). 88.3 in Lynchburg, VA
is local, religious programming and a long way from Leesburg. ~tim
mcvey``

Spotsylvania VA is near Frederixburg, between Alexandria and Richmond
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 12005, June 21 at 0632, open carrier, fair. Nothing in
Aoki or EiBi anywhen near this time. Would you believe HFCC still has
an A23 entry for Sfax, TUNISIA, 500 kW at 100 degrees on 12005 at
0400-0610? Gone from SW for many years. Maybe that qualify them to
host HFCC meetings, good for the economy. Hmmm, 12005 happens to be
one of the frequencies from Woofferton to Antarctica later this date
at 2130 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** PUERTO RICO. 28335 USB, June 20 at 2203, a KP4 call heard among

Seems like I have heard him before; look how his huge illustrated page
starts:

``Welcome, all ham appliance operatooors to my personal QRZ
Biography.

And special thanks to Glenn Hauser (World of Radio) of Enid OK, for
his personal critique & review of my bio and notoriety in the nonsense
of the hobby. Everyone wants to be a shining star in some regard these
days. Just look at what Reality, Tabloid & Fox TV have done for the
country. If the upward curve trend continues, we may all become cigar
smoking, smartphone clutching, drooling, incessant, incontinent,
knuckle-dragging, lying, dancing celebrities wearing pink tutu's. It's
gonna be great I tell ya'.

Always be sure to click on the Greyed out & blocked YT videos on my
Bio page. They are the most interesting, personally rewarding,
redeeming and technically challenging to watch for hammies.

I've been speaking in tongues to this Speckled Hen Egg for several
weeks. It seems very incognito, and lacking in any Utah wisdom. Nor is
it telling me where the gold is to be found...``

** U S A. 9275, Monday June 19 at 2005, again no signal from WMLK,
into Virginia SDR; despite surprise appearance on its only other
registered frequency 15150 overnight. And 15150.000 is again on air
June 20 at 0441, DEJOM, who else? at S9+30 into Missouri SDR (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Another Es FM DX opening June 14, on caradio but very
marginal. Several Esish signals lead to dead ends, i.e. Kansas
fringefaders as if they were Es. I`ll spare us some of that research,
but not all of it. Standard methodology boilerplate as in my June 11
report, including: all times strictly UT:

88.3 at 1714, mentions Leesburg? which is in N VA, NW of WDC. Nothing
there; I now think it was probably Lynchburg as in later 88.3 log
below.

93.1 at 1716, jobs in Reno County, but merely Kansas, then McPherson
ad, My 93.1 weather.

93.1 at 1717, Wilmington ad, so this time is NC: Unlikely as it may
seem, this is the only Wilmington with a 93.1, 97-watt LPFM:
WBPL-LP 93.1 WILMINGTON NC RELIGIOUS TEACHING WILMINGTON CATHOLIC
RADIO 0.097 30.0 34-12-35 77-56-53 1821 km/1132 stmi
Broadly, there are Wilmington FMs in these states: DE, IL, NC, OH, PA,
VT. Comparing
rough coordinates, there are no 93.1s in any of these near a
Wilmington.

95.3 at 1720, verse of the day, praise music over KOKC OKC translator.
Circa Wilmington NC PTA? No fits by format or geography in NC.

100.3 at 1723, sports talk about BB, mention Montgomery, no fit in AL.
NC PTA sports? No fit. How about SC? Maybe:
WSEA 100.3 ATLANTIC BEACH SC SPORTS CBS RADIO 100.3 12.0 145.0
33-47-04 78-52-44 1764/1096
Or did they mention Cardinals? Near station on that net, extreme NW
corner of AR:
KURM-FM 100.3 GRAVETTE AR NEWS/TALK KURM RADIO 4.0 125.1 36-25-54
94-30-47 306/190

100.7 at 1724, algo vs local 100.9 KGWA xltr; tough

88.3 at 1726, Cardinals BB play-by-play, what? MLB is VERY commercial.
Can`t imagine a non-comm with it. // local 1390 KCRC; hmmm, could be a
mixing/overload product? 89.7 is not local but almost; minus 1.4 MHz =
88.3. But 88.3 is fading some unlike 89.7 or 1390. Again at 1834 //
1390 then f/out.

93.1 at 1742, BB pbp but not // Cardinals KCRC 1390. Ads lead merely
to Hutchinson KS. Guess what, there are NO Cards stations in KS, but
OK in OK. KS must be Royals territory! But their affil list has no
93.1 anywhere. Still Hutch at 1832, normal fringer.

I take a break at 1745-1829, lunch?

92.1 at 1829, North Myrtle Beach ad, so definitely this again:
WMYB 92.1 MYRTLE BEACH SC CONTEMPORARY HIT RADIO ENERGY 92.1 94.0
263.0 33-35-27 79-02-55 76C9 ENERGY 92.1 Now Playing Song/Artist
ENERGY 92.1 Plays the Hits Top 40 1752/1089

92.1 at 1832, country, ``Country Station`` but no hits on those exact
words branding.

88.1 at 1902, ID mentions North Carolina State University, music
festival:
WKNC-FM 88.1 RALEIGH NC VARIETY THE REVOLUTION 25.0 80.0 35-47-15
78-40-14 A764 KNC88.1 - North Carolina State University 1727/1073

88.3 at 1917, myjourneyfm.com, ``The Journey``, General Shepherd
Hospice; 1920, ABC 13 weather, i.e. WSET Lynchburg VA. That`s
Falwell`s Liberty University which has TWO stations on 88.3 with
reversed calls; by PTA the NC somewhat liklier:
WVRL 88.3 ELIZABETH CITY NC RELIGIOUS TEACHING THE JOURNEY 88.3
50.0 136.0 36-18-40 76-17-34 8DE1 1935/1203
WRVL 88.3 LYNCHBURG VA RELIGIOUS TEACHING THE JOURNEY 28.0 346.0
37-11-50 79-21-06 Liberty University 1667/1036
This log on caradio but not at home due to shopping errand near
Garriott & Van Buren.

Another check much later at home on the DX-398:
88.3 at 2201, NPR/ATC news, not synch with 88.1 KWOU; weak and steady,
best tuned to 88.25. 2203 no local cutaway. Not synch 91.7 KOSU
either, but this must be KOSU`s unnecessary fill-in back at Stillwater
since main 91.7 site moved closer to OKC, which IIRC is indeed not
synch with 91.7, different feed routings:
KOSR 88.3 STILLWATER OK HD ADULT ALTERNATIVE THE STATE'S PUBLIC RADIO
1.2 33.5 36-07-46 97-05-43 80/50
(Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)
