** AUSTRALIA. 9323 USB, Aug 29 at 0647, JBA talk, no doubt the Austravel Safety Net, VMD750 as discovered much better last night. Also have similar reception on 10125 USB from VK hams as heard several times before but tough to ID - and still no HK3QQ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHILE. 28446 USB, Aug 29 at 2050, CE4PS contacting a K4 among other quick QSOs. As often on 10m, seems almost dead, no beacons, just a signal or two ideally located to break thru. Only one other from DomRep, 28457? QRZ.com: ``CE4PS Chile flag Chile, Philip A. "Phil" Smith, Pichilemu 3220000, Chile, QSL: PO Box 70 Pichilemu. Web SDRs is killing ham radio. PUT a better ANTENNA. We can tell if you are faking the QSO!!! Let's sell all rigs and buy a phone with internet. How about that?`` And he also Xs out FT8 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** COSTA RICA. 24960 USB, Aug 29 at 2053, TI2JS, Javier in San José working an EI - Ireland. First DX I`ve heard for some time on 12m. QRZ.com: ``TI2JS Costa Rica flag Costa Rica, Javier A "Javi" Salazar, P.O. Box 789-2010, San Jose 10105, Costa Rica (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, Aug 29 at 0030, something in Spanish as I bring up the Missouri SDR pre-tuned to this frequency, before checking 9395 for WOR; then right back to 15140 but it`s gone by 0031. Must have been another far-overrun by RHC where something`s always wrong (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9565, Aug 29 at 0649, mixed with pulse jamming against no Martí, rapid two-tone beepery, unlike slow regular ones heard before (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, Aug 29 at 0703, R. Rebelde is OFF. 28 hours before, Marshall Reel reported: ``To paraphrase GH, something is REALLY wrong on Cuban radio! This recording is Cuba's Radio Rebelde 5025 khz around 0302 UTC last night 8/28/23, playing what sounded like a movie soundtrack in English. Similar audio played the rest of the night until around 1100 UTC (7 AM Havana time) At that time I recorded normal programming in progress. Heard in Damascus, MD with RSPdx and 80 meter elevated loop antenna. strange audio link https://youtu.be/faS5OeJucAY back to normal link https://youtu.be/WMyo6ywLD5Y Marshall Reel`` Ron Howard then IDed the movie excerpt: ``Audio from the "Van Helsing" (2004) action horror film. YouTube, at 6:44 on video, "Next time stay close . . ." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8qPauK6iAk&t=417s Ron`` And later from Ron: ``Aug 29 - No Cuba on 5025, checking 0718, 0755, 0828, 0845 and 0905 UT. Ron (California)`` SAWA! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. Re: ``6200 AM, Aug 28 at 0638, Japanese song at S7, presumed pirate Hikari FM, signal improved. BTW, why include ``FM`` in name of a station on AM/SW? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)`` --- Ron Howard replies: ``Hi Glenn - Perhaps due to originally when the station started playing Japanese music, they were downloaded off an FM station in Tokyo? Aug 29 - Hikari FM (6200 AM) from 0728+ UT; cutting through the summertime QRN (static) with Japanese songs; the usual ID in English, plus song IDs in Japanese and English. My audio - https://app.box.com/s/zcfyqhqzbe18p1x7nr9acr8afheu1mgf Played nice song "Yorokobi ni saku hana" by ACO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqBhjwbs8U0 Ron California`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.010+, Aug 29 at *2200 carrier on just in time for timesignal, usual jumbled and incomplete sked at s/on. 2202 headlines by better speakerine, and details. S9+35 into UTwente and somewhat distorted overmodulation. Soon settles down to usual 11785.009+. 2207, jingle and midcast ID. 2210 already about cuisine, sports. 2213 very distorted music bit and `Review of the Turkish Press`. 2215 song. 2218 `Weekly Commentary` about AI, military applications, apparently by an American, read by badax. Next check at 2255, already off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2205 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday August 29 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+5/20 into Missouri SDR. NOT confirmed Tuesday August 29 at 1300 on WRMI 9955, rather sounds like World Music fill before and after the ToH ID. I`ve informed Jeff about this and three other System B/9955/webcast schedulings that are not happening. He says they won`t start until later in Sept. Next: 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2204] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW Thanks this week for financial support from Robert W Gruska, Glendale NY, who sent a postal MO to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 [also for checks on a US bank], ``toward your work and presentation of World of Radio and the DX-Loggings each week for over four decades. Thanks for your continued efforts keeping the radio hobbyist community informed of the latest developments whether it is Shortwave, Medium Wave or FM`` One may also contribute, not necessarily in US funds via PayPal to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, Aug 29 at 0643, R. Vanuatu continues to provide a good signal every night, but this time it`s wobbly as if beat from another station on slightly different frequency; but I decide it`s due to unstable ionosphere, as WRMI 7780 is similarly heard, but not 7730 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7300+, Aug 29 circa 0300, I start running UTwente in USB to catch last night`s unID --- but never anything on or about 7300 by 0642 when I also start checking direct. Nor was there anything into Missouri SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9709.4 approx., USB, Aug 29 at 0650, JBA 2-way in Spanish including whistling, a sure sign of amateurism, INTRUDERS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2307 UT August 29 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** AUSTRALIA. 9323 USB, Aug 28 at 0648, some kind of net here just far enough from 9330 WBCQ/WLCR for that not to be a problem. NCS seems to be called ``2199``, S3/S4 stronger than various checkins; accent sounds Oz. ``What`s your destination?``,``Member 33385[?]``. Place mentioned sounds like Tuwumba: aha, there is a Toowoomba in Queensland! ``Good afternoon`` at 0654* and apparently closed. This reminds me of some Outback caravan/travel club in Australia made up of citizens, not military or official at all. Aha2, searching UDXF on 9323 gets these: https://groups.io/g/UDXF/topic/87988270#102480 i.e. 10 frequencies, including #: ``6 9323 kHz Bases - Casino and Kununurra``, i.e.: Austravel Safety Net, VMD750, promoting HF radio contactness, https://www.austravelsafetynet.org.au/ Much more info here including frequency lists: https://www.austravelsafetynet.org.au/node/2
There is another unrelated one with different frequencies, VKS-737 Radio Network, Serving Remote Travellers since 1993: https://vks737.radio/frequencies/ I am unaware of anything similar in North America where we are not so sparse and remote (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9439.994, Aug 28 at 2120, R. Cairo is S9+20/40 into UTwente, distorted and JBM in English with humwhine, perceptible with all volumes at max, something about the 1953? revolution. Somewhat comprehensible by concentrating, but we shouldn`t have to put up with all these obstacles. Something`s egregious in Egypt. 2124, ``Radio Cairo presents`` algo, mixed with even more distorted music. Goodbye (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 6200 AM, Aug 28 at 0638, Japanese song at S7, presumed pirate Hikari FM, signal improved. BTW, why include ``FM`` in name of a station on AM/SW? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 101.5, Aug 28 at 1951 UT, JBA song in Spanish on caradio, so maybe KOCD Okeene have resumed modulation? No, soon ad in English for United Internet in SW Kansas, Liberal ad, mentions 103.9? No KSpanish listed there: must have been ``93.9`` which bears KZRD Dodge City, 100 kW ``La Mexicana`` per WTFDA FM DB. And 101.5 is: KSMM, 100 kW ``La Mexicana`` in Liberal, allegedly relay of: KMML 92.9 but 101.5 still Remarked as: ``Silent 4/28/22; xmtr failure``. ! But there is no 92.9 called KMML! The only 92.9 KS is KMXN, 42 kW in Osage City, not ``MeXicaN`` as it may have been previously, but Country, ``The Bull``! KMML calls instead apply to 102.1, 40 kW ``La Mexicana`` in Cimarrón KS. What a mess!! I logged and pointed out this anomaly several weeks ago, but WTFDA still has not cleared it up. Liberal is 281 km = 173 stmi away, so really fringe. Cimarrón is strategically located about halfway between the Cities Dodge and Garden. Not to be confused with the Cimarrón in NM; I don`t find a C-town in OK but names the westernmost county at the end of Nomansland. Liberal is right on the OK Panhandle border, but radio-locator shows 101.5 site is definitely in KS, ENE of Liberal. But what about KOCD? As I drive down the road a bit, lose Liberal and there`s the dead air in $ tereo dominant from Okeene, as it has been since at least August 9. Cursory chex on Aug 26 & 27 had not heard it so wondered if off completely (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Mon Aug 28 at 2200, token English from REE/SNR is VG S9+10/20 direct, again co-hostessed by Amy Egan & Marilýn [finally get to use ASCII 0253, tentatively] Quintana. Feature topic is about recipes and food (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11784.998, Aug 27 at 2217, VOT English not off the air today, VG S9+45/50 into UTwente, also with good modulation; historic talk about something 252 years ago, sounds like the YL voice I refer to as ``badax`` = with bad accent, but more comprehensible than usual; maybe she is trying harder to improve her dixion. 2223 Analysis? I heard before about Turkish/Syrian relations. 2256 oh2, IS still on air interspersed with German IDs, and 2300 opening German with distortion. I let it run in background until I notice at 2333 that it`s off, maybe slightly earlier. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, Aug 28 at 2225, VOT English is S9+10/20 direct like SPAIN, q.v., but with more choppy fading, during music; 2227 `Feeling Supreme/The Healing Spring` about anemia, which foods are good to lessen it: citrus, beans, sunflower seeds, beet root, etc. Recheck in time to hear closing IS for a bit until 2255.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2205 monitoring: confirmed Sunday August 27 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9+10/20 into nearby SDR but with CCI making fast SAH, presumably Brighton, England; also at 2000 on WRN webcast of Euro service. NOT confirmed Sun Aug 27 at 2000 for the third week in a row despite appearing on WRMI sked as webcast only; rather, choral gospelish music. Confirmed UT Monday August 28 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, JBA direct with HSNL. Also confirmed UT Monday August 28 from 0259.6 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 -68 Hz = 6159.932, S9+5/12 into NH SDR. Next: 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; NOT Aug 22] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2204] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW Thanks this week for financial support from Robert W Gruska, Glendale NY, who sent a postal MO to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 [also for checks on a US bank], ``toward your work and presentation of World of Radio and the DX-Loggings each week for over four decades. Thanks for your continued efforts keeping the radio hobbyist community informed of the latest developments whether it is Shortwave, Medium Wave or FM`` One may also contribute, not necessarily in US funds via PayPal to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7300.325, Aug 28 at 0623, gospel huxter talk in English at S7, improved from last night`s JBA carrier when it was on about 7300.09; fluxuates, a few minutes earlier more like 7300.313. I`m back on it before 0700 for possible ID but sermon now S9 continues past 0702, and now about 7300.444V. Far-Christian buzzwords give it away, but whence? Spaceline Bulgaria is very fond of ``even`` ---00 frequencies and of course propagates TOMBS, registered available in fact per HFCC with unknown client on 7300 at 0200-0600, 100 kW at 110 degrees: but never? so far off-frequency; not // 5850 WRMI TOMBS but would not be synchronized anyway. HFCC has several at other times on 7300, Beijing, Kashgar, Woofferton. No other clues in Aoki but EiBi also has Taiwan at other times, banned by China from HFCC. Nor in latest WRTH Updater V.19 dated 24 August. Someone more awake than I might try to ID or TDOA this (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2357 UT August 28 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Sunday, August 27 2023
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Aug 26 at 1810, LRA36 just signing-on with CW, vocal multilingual ID as I tune in, altho Manuel Méndez, Spain was getting it on & off during previous hour musical prélude/warmup. Of the three KiwiSDRs online in Argentina, one is getting it best, S5/S6. 1906 still on with historical talk, background music, still 1947. Not checked again until 2130 when it`s off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11760, Aug 27 at 1501, no sign of Sunday Esperanto on RHC; rather song in Spanish past 1505; and 15140 which should be //, is JBA direct. 1527 recheck via Missouri SDR, 11760 in Spanish drama? and 15140 dead air. Nor was any RHC frequency still on before 0700 Sunday when Esperanto`s also allegedly on 6100, or somewhere. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17470, Aug 27 at 1457, JBA carrier[s?], presumed current spot for Turkish jammer and/or Dengê Welat, as nothing on nearby frequencies; but another JBA carrier on 17490 which is used by China/E Turkistan at various times but before 1500 registered as USAGM in Bod/Tibetan via Biblis, consequently ChiCom-jammed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 6200 AM, Aug 27 at 0618, JBA music S3/S4 vs storm noise peaks to S6, presumed pirate now called Hikari FM, as in Japanese. Must have increased power to more than JBA carrier level. BTW, he told someone that he was originally on FM in Chandler [Arizona] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAIPAN. 11675, Aug 27 at 1500, ID in English as Radio Free Asia, and into Chinese. Nice to definitely hear that rather than the inevitable jamming, maybe source of lite SAH. RFA sked 1500-1600, 100 kW, 300 degrees from Saipan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, Aug 26 at 2230 quick check, VOT English hour is S9+50/60! into UTwente SDR but music far too distorted. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2205 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday August 26 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, now the first SWBC, S9+10/20 direct vs some storm noise. Axually started 10 seconds later, unusual: automation timer error? If only the 7780s could start 15 seconds later, avoiding the noise blasts. Also confirmed Saturday August 26 at 1600 on WRN to N America webcast. Also confirmed Saturday August 26 at 1949, the 1930 three ways: WRN N America webcast; IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 kHz into nearby remote; and about 18 minutes into on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, VG S9+15 into its nearby SDR. NOT confirmed at new time shown on WRMI skedgrid, 0000 UT Sunday Aug 27 on 9955, instead: Viva Miami! Confirmed UT Sunday August 27 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, noisy S9+10 into Missouri SDR, with noise blast QRM first 14 seconds. Also confirmed UT Sunday August 27 at 0330 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+15 into nearby SDR, about 3 minutes into so started circa 0327. Also confirmed NEW time UT Sunday August 27 at 1030 on WRMI 9955; by recording a sample direct at 1056-1058 as I slept. Next: 2000 UT Sunday WRMI web/phonecast only? [not Aug 13 or 20] 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; NOT Aug 22] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2204] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW Thanks this week for financial support from Robert W Gruska, Glendale NY, who sent a postal MO to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 [also for checks on a US bank], ``toward your work and presentation of World of Radio and the DX-Loggings each week for over four decades. Thanks for your continued efforts keeping the radio hobbyist community informed of the latest developments whether it is Shortwave, Medium Wave or FM`` One may also contribute, not necessarily in US funds via PayPal to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5950, UT Sun Aug 27 from 0000, `Texas Radio Shortwave` featuring two WORLDS OF RADIOS from 1986y; good signal direct from WRMI. After own introduxion, at 0002, #322 starts from April 1986. Back then I was not organizing material in alfabetical order by country, which made for a more interesting ``flow``, but a/b became necessary to expedite produxion of thousands of episodes. Also more non-gh-voice clips and airchex than I manage these days. And my voice sounded about 37 years younger than it does now. I took much more detailed notes than I am giving here, for my records, and in order to qualify for a special QSL. 0131 starts next episode #342 which must have been September 1986. One feature was a promotional recording from NDXE, terrific new SW station being set up in Opelika, Alabama - at that time we didn`t know that nothing would ever come of it, a scam? The last bit of this ep had to be cut for time, just `YROT` theme again without any formal outro. Tnx much to Terry Colgan for doing this and to Mick Delmage for supplying these off-air recordings from WRNO. The second one had some QRM and bandwidth switching at the outset. About NDXE, ``In Dixie``, Mark Bailey replied on the WOR iog: ``Thanks for sharing these! I only caught the last 2/3 of 342. I thought it was interesting to again hear a pre-recorded promo about NDXE. I vaguely remembered about that from back in the day, and had certainly long since forgotten about it. Hearing it again got me curious and I did some Google searching. Turns out NDXE's main proponent, H. Dickson Norman, passed away in 2018 https://www.auburnvillager.com/obituaries/harry-dickson-norman-jr/article_dad06666-ddec-11e8-8c3f-47c3c4075b97.html but as recently as 2015 had a Twitter feed, and was STILL claiming that NDXE would be on shortwave "soon" https://twitter.com/ndxeradio?lang=en There are many who think Norman was nothing more than a con man. I dunno, though. Either way, it remains an odd ordeal to me. In reading his obituary, looks like he still made some sort of a career in the radio broadcasting business`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, 2023, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7300.09, Aug 27 at 0617, JBA carrier.
