Hauser

Please note and spread the word - for those not on a list where my almost-daily all-band but mainly SW log reports appear -- or for those who are but find this a more convenient archive, weekly merged roundups of all these reports in their original form are posted early every UT Thursday via:

http://www.worldofradio.com/Hauserlogs.html

Glenn Hauser logs June 14-15, 2022  View Printable Version
Thursday, June 16 2022

Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Wednesday June 15 from 1435, no signal
yet from LRA36, via Buenos Aires remote; but comes on about *1445 with
music, S2/S3. 1448 ID; 1500 fade down; 1501 canned sign-on and 1502
Antártida themesong. I have an appointment so must tune out by 1510;
anyone track how long it stayed this time? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA [non]. Checking the June 14 2130-2145 test for BBCWS
midwinter special exactly one week later on June 21, Tuesday, not
Monday as I erred on WORLD OF RADIO. Can get no closer to Antarctica
than Buenos Aires SDR which I check first: 7305 Ascension ought to be
best, S9/+10; 9505 Woofferton S9/+10 with a bit of ACI; 12065
Woofferton S9/+15 so marginally best; 6035 UAE poor as expected,
S8/9+5. Don`t know why they even try DHA unless happens to have an
antenna there coincidentally aimed at a Britbase. It seems there are
five British facilities in Antarctica proper, only one open all year,
Rothera:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Antarctic_Survey#Research_stations
At 2037 I try direct where we are of course far from the target: 12065
poor S8/S9, the others inaudible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 9669.509V, June 15 at 0640, gospel harmony at S7/S9 from
RVM, wayer off-frequency, yes, double-checked, almost 9670 instead of
9665+, 9666+ or merely 9667+; and now a menace to Channel 292,
Germany, 9670 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, June 15 at 0030, checking for R. Progreso, but nothing
except CODAR swirshes into Maryland SDR. Nominal sked is 0030-0400
only and has been reported missing lately, but I have not checked
every night. I switch to Bonaire SDR, and at 0051 can hear some
nondescript music under the CODAR, but cuts off at 0101* so is that
Tajikistan instead? I keep monitoring when *0119 it comes back on with
music, and by 0125 I can barely tell it`s in Spanish. Something`s
always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11845, June 15 at 0632, weak pulse jamming on a
long-abandoned Radio Martí frequency and when was in use, daytime
only. The incompetent DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** GREECE. 9420.002, Tuesday June 14 at 1602, VOG is back on as
expected after a holiday weekend, missing not only Sat & Sun as usual,
but also Monday. It was Christos Rigas who pointed this out at first,
rather than Zacharias Liangas, as I misremembered last time. This hour
at S9+25/30 into UTwente plays some music, but far too much talk
conversation in Greek. They keep going thru hourtop 1700, but ERT IS &
ID play until 1703* and off uncovering China which was considerably
QRMing underneath with its own Western classical music (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. Re last report about 9700 replacing 11725: it was
Ricky Leong, not Rodney Johnson who was told by Adrian Sainsbury about
it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, June 14 at 0500, UR1 via WRMI, yet another
repeat, the fourth, of the June 11 edition for Day 107 of the War,
June 10. And yet again June 15 at 0500 via usual Maryland remote.
Richard Langley notes that UR1 has been inaccessible on the web
lately, which may explain it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2142 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday
June 14 at 2238 the 2230 on WRMI 9955, S9/+10 direct and no jamming
audible nor at 2259.

Also confirmed Tue June 14 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+10 into Maryland
SDR.

Was set up to record a sample, a bit before 2130 Wed June 15 on
7489.9v WBCQ, but remote had timed out. As usual in summer, nothing
but a JBA carrier direct. Did anyone hear it? BTW, I hardly ever get
an answer to that question. Next:

0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to WNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

For these noncommercial services, voluntary financial support is much
appreciated, thanks this week to generous Doug Brown, London ON, who
sent a Florida US$ check to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
USA, and comments: ``Thanks, Glenn, for continuing to promote the
medium of short wave radio at a time when many are saying the Internet
had made SW obsolete. Online streaming is no more like radio than
intravenous feeding is like fine dining. Authoritarian governments can
control the Internet but they can`t control RF propagation``

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com

Next new WOR 2143 should be ready early UT Friday June 17 for first
broadcasts at 0130 on WRMIs 5850 & 7730 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15770, June 15 at 1935, WRMI playing fill music instead of
VOA `Flashpoint Ukraine`; however it was underway at 1946 check (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 11835, June 15 at 0624, RV is on tonight, 3 x 3945 with
music, S6/S9. Also 7890 = 2 x 3945 JBA carrier at 0644. Not making it
on 15780 or 19725. BTW at these late hours my logs are likely to be
direct, not via remotes, specified if so (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 12116 USB, June 15 at 0631, 2-way in Spanish (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15743-15748 approx., June 15 at 0628 weak noise sounds
like DRM, smax of half of WINB but certainly not at this hour (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 2351 UT June 15

** BRAZIL. Correxion: typo read 9677.526V, instead of correct
9667.526V. Tnx to Gianni Serra for catching this; fixed:

9667.526V, June 11 at 0631, RVM with wavering carrier and
much weaker than usual, S3/S4. Another try:

9667.061, June 13 at 0625, choral version of `Onward Xian Soldiers`
presumably in Brazuguese, then mention Gideões sponsorship of R Voz
Missionária (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. Two FMDX logs from ON & MB included in June 13 session
under USA [and non]

** CUBA. 6165, S9+10/20, suptorted and 6060, S9+10/20 with hum, June
13 at 0650, RHC English, Mailbag contact from Richard Lemke, Alberta.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9440, June 13 at 2157, no signal from R. Cairo English into
UTwente (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GREECE. 9420, June 13 at 1514, no signal from VOG, just a JBA
presumably China, into UTwente. Zacharias Liangas says maybe due to a
3-day holiday weekend, so resuming June 14? Before that on June 10 it
was intermittent, on/and/off during restricted 1230-1700 span, per
Richard Langley (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 9700, June 13 at 0621, RNZP reactivated here and not
on 11725; Adrian Sainsbury told Rodney Johnson that running both was a
test prior to the change as of today. I`m trying to hear any CCI from
Romania until 0627 but cannot, so maybe that`s one of their suspended
frequencies? But I thought had been hearing it recently (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830, June 13 at 2157-2200, JBA algo into UTwente,
presumably China with VOT English off, or late (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, June 13 at 0500, UR1 via WRMI with *same*
``Ukraine: Security Issue`` in English for the third night in a row,
and no doubt the entire rest of hour in Ukrainian. I notified Jeff
White that new files have not been incoming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 332 MCW kHz, June 13 at 0658, IC, ND beacon at wIChita KS,
is JBA. Had not been able to confirm it for a few weeks in HSNL, not
sure if had been off, nor yet the co-channel Canadian which in winter
is axually stronger than IC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2142 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
June 12 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz only, S9 into
nearby Noale SDR, following music from Armenia cutoff. At least at
first, modulation cutting out while the background noise level
remains.

Also confirmed Sunday June 12 at 2258 the still at 2230 on WRMI 5950,
S9+10/15 into Knoxville SDR

Also confirmed UT Monday June 13 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S5 vs NL into
TWR Brownsville RGV SDR; but S9/+10 and noisy into Knoxville; much
better S9/+10 into Maryland.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 13 at 0302 underway on Area 51 via WBCQ
6159.94, JBA direct with heavy RHC 6165 ACI; but S9/+15 into Maryland

Also confirmed UT Tuesday June 14 at 0044 midway thru the 0030 on
WRMIs: 9395 S9+10/20 into Maryland much better than 9455; while 9455
S9+10/20 into Missouri. Next:

2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba]
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035-USB or 3210-USB
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to WNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Lots of sporadic E FM DX on June 12. All of these
u.o.s. on the caradio with vertical fender antenna, no RDS. All logged
by my own receivers, own ears in real time, no mobile device so no
comparing to webstreams; parked in the garage while the F in the shade
grew to at least 98, and as hot or hotter inside by late afternoon,
when I install a box fan in the back seat for a little relief - no
running the car inside for AC!

OK/AR area tropo from the morning on DTV still impedes Es DX for much
of the day with fringe signals everywhere, e.g. Tulsa, confusing
whether some of the CCI will develop into sporadic E catches. As
before I include `localish` logs for informational purposes. Post
research: Prime reference is WTFDA FM Database. Distances approx.,
distancefromto.net, city to city, not site to site. Frequencies first
but in chrono order, times strictly UT:

87.7, at 1652, trace of something here, maybe a FrankenFM 87.75 in
Florida or pirate; never any more all day

93.1, at 1653, Earl`s Car Insurance, fades in/out. Web search leads to
North Carolina:
https://earlcarneyinsurance.com/services/auto-insurance/
Only full-power is WPAW Winston-Salem, 99 kW, 335 m. 1580 km = 853 mi

94.3, at 1701, Spanish rap music, iHeart Radio promo in Spanish, `Mia
94`` ID in passing; 1709 still Spanish music in & out:
WRLX 94.3 RIVIERA BEACH FL SPANISH HITS MIA 94.3 50.0 kW 139.0 m HAAT
[all powers listed are same H and V, u.o.s.] 1993 km = 1238 mi

97.3, at 1719, 352 AC during financial advice talk show. 352 = Ocala
area. This one fits by proximity, format, and only other full power in
FL being far Miami; Micanopy pop. 600 in 2010:
WSKY-FM 97.3 MICANOPY FL NEWS/TALK THE SKY 97.3 FM NEWS TALK 50.0 kW
150.0 m --- 1642 km = 1020 mi

[my lunch break 1730-1824]

97.5, at 1827, Jim Glover Chevrolet, 918 AC = Tulsa, KMOD-FM

95.1, at 1827, ``The Beast in the East 95.1 WRNS``: slogan not in db:
WRNS-FM 95.1 KINSTON NC YOUR COUNTRY 95.1 WRNS 100.0 kW 459.0 m
Online at WRNS.com Country --- 1831 km = 1138 mi
Slogan not seen on website either; search leads instead to a 2015 WWF
wrestling event in Tokyo ?? Kinston is in *eastern* NC, between
Goldsboro and New Bern. Remotely possible that slogan came from some
other signal briefly intruding

95.5, at 1832, gospel huxter; at least not likely KWEN Tulsa, Country.
Nor the other two Okies, both country. Tough due to adjacent local
95.7. The greatest NC is religious: WHPE-FM High Point, 100 kW
--- 1603 km = 996 mi

96.7, at 1834, rock, CCI, likely Es not nearby

99.3, at 1835, ``Thunder Valley Nationals``. Search leads to Bristol
TN/VA motocross. Nearest station is:
WEXX 99.3 ELIZABETHTON TN ROCK 99.3 THE X 3.6 kW 247.0 m
--- 1398 km = 869 mi

100.7, at 1836, promo for WR--. The only full-power in NC is:
WRDU 100.7 ROCKY MOUNT NC CLASSIC ROCK WRDU FM 100.7 14.0 kW 314.0 m
--- 1800 km = 1118 mi

97.1, at 1900 on DX-398, Texas Rangers baseball game vs Chicago, The
Sports Animal, tough due to local 96.9 but off-tuned to 97.15. NOT //
OKC Sports Animal 98.1! Complete with Rangers promotion such as Texas
Whiskey, but this is really OK: KYAL Muskogee since at 1913 ad about
Fort Gibson --- 237 km = 147 mi

Resuming on caradio:

105.9, at 2217, rock, ``stream it now, BLM`` or similar sounding fuzzy
letters. Can`t find anything in db or searching

103.7, at 2221, ``103-7, The Gator, #1 for new country``:
WRUF-FM 103.7 GAINESVILLE FL COUNTRY THE GATOR 100.0 kW 234.0 m
1037thegator.com --- 1629 km - 1013 mi

102.3, at 2224, ``368-1005, The Yard Shop``; ``The New US 103,``
rock:
WXUS 102.3 DUNNELLON FL COUNTRY US 102.3 50.0 kW 149.0 m The New US
102-3 The Crossroads of Country & Rock
The Yard Shop chex as Ocala, near Dunnellon --- 1654 km = 1028 mi

101.7, at 2225, car race overcomes KREJ, just over border in KS

100.3, at 2226, Spanish, ``más caliente en Florida, aquí en Orlando,
iHeart Radio``, Orlando weather ``desde el centro de clima Acción
97.9``:
WRUM 100.3 ORLANDO FL TROPICAL RUMBA 100.3 MAS MUSICA VARIADA 95.0 kW
484.0 m --- 1773 km = 1102 mi
The 97.9 station referred to, NOT heard, is a mere translator
tailwagger of the 810 dog in nearby Kissimmee:
W250CE relays WRSO 810 97.9 KISSIMMEE FL Spanish TALK ACCION 0.25 kW
0.0 m - meaning unknown tower height, not on the ground!

100.3, at 2227, CCI to above, in English mentions Orlando Magic. Maybe
this, only other FL full-power?:
WCTH 100.3 PLANTATION KEY FL COUNTRY THUNDER COUNTRY 100.3 100.0 kW
141.0 m --- Distancefromto measures to city of Brandon just east of
Tampa, while it`s really way down in THE Florida Keys as per the
coordinates in db; way out of the PTA. Not to be confused with plain
old Plantation, in the Fort Lauderdale area

99.3, at 2230, ad with 803 AC, and Art`s? Mulching and Yard Cleanup
with 843 AC. Both are in SC, 803 being central including Chester next
to Charlotte NC; 843 coastal. I can`t nail down that biz, but the two
in SC are:
WBT-FM relays WBT-1110 99.3 CHESTER SC NEWS TALK 1110 AND 99.3 WBT 7.7
kW 182.2 m Charlotte's News Talk --- 1517 km = 819 mi --- OR:
WWKT-FM 99.3 KINGSTREE SC COUNTRY THE CAT 99.3 11.0 kW 149.9 m

97.5, at 2233, Women`s Empowerment Expo 2022 will be July 30 at PNC
Arena - that leads to Raleigh NC, Carrboro nearby, more at 2248:
WQOK 97.5 CARRBORO NC URBAN CONTEMPORARY K 97.5, HIP HOP & R&B 50.0 kW
146.0 m --- 1686 km = 1048 mi

97.5, at 2235, Garry Russell DJ, 81 degrees, WQBE ID in passing,
call-in:
WQBE-FM 97.5 CHARLESTON WV COUNTRY 24 CARROT [sic] COUNTRY 50.0 kW
152.0 m --- 1450 km = 901 mi

96.7, at 2237, car race, CCI

95.1, at 2238, NAB PSA? against taxing local radio stations, huh?
Mount Pleasant and Charleston mentioned, i.e. SC, not WV; CCI:
WSSX-FM 95.1 CHARLESTON SC CONTEMPORARY HIT RADIO 95SX, HIT MUSIC NOW
13.2 kW 230.0 m --- 1689 km = 1049 mi

94.5, at 2240, discussing hurricanes, storms in FL at some length.
Three full-powers, in Panhandle, E coast, SW coast, one of:
WFLF-FM 94.5 PARKER FL ROCK 94.5 100.0 kW 303.0 m News 1335 km 830 mi
WCFB 94.5 DAYTONA BEACH FL URBAN AC STAR 94.5 97.5 HkW 100.0 VkW 451.0

WARO 94.5 NAPLES FL CLASSIC ROCK 94.5 THE ARROW 99.0 kW 311.0 m [least
likely] --- 1902 km = 1182 mi

93.9, at 2242, ``Lite Rock 93-R`` smart speaker plug:
WRRR-FM 93.9 ST. MARYS WV ADULT CONTEMPORARY 93 R 17.0 kW 119.0 m
--- 1501 km = 933 mi. Also has co-channel booster:
WRRR-FM2 relays WRRR-FM 93.9 93.9 NEW MARTINSVILLE WV ADULT
CONTEMPORARY 93 R 0.0 HkW 0.009 VkW 0.0 m - I wonder which? St Marys
is near Parkersburg on the Ohio River coast

93.5, at 2243, frenetic music in Spanish, briefly. Most likely:
WLQB 93.5 OCEAN ISLE BEACH NC Spanish REGIONAL MEXICAN EL PATRON 93.5
6.0 kW 100.0 m --- 1787 km = 1110 mi

96.7, at 2245, Outer Banx = OBX ad, KittyHawk.com - nearest is:
WKJX 96.7 ELIZABETH CITY NC HOT AC 96.7 THE COAST 50.0 kW 124.0 m
Adult Hits --- 1935 km = 1203 mi

97.5, at 2248, K-97-5 promo: WQOK again, see 2233 above

104.9, at 2250, ``Alice 104-9``: ``Alice Returns To Oklahoma City As
Wild 104.9 Departs`` about KKWD Bethany, says radioinsight.com May 24,
2022, so WTFDA db needs updating:
KKWD 104.9 BETHANY OK RHYTHMIC CHR WILD 104.9 6.0 kW 100.0 m Wild
104.9 All the Hits, NOW --- 101 km = 63 mi

2251, I stop for R&R and hope the DX is also pausing. After DXMAP
showing nexus over NW Alabama, but not quite to OK, I resume anyway
with fan in back seat at 2345: but no DX

UT June 13 another car session from 0105:

93.5, at 0105, French Canadian chat, one on phone, past 0114, still
0119, about an exposition mentioning Andy Warhol, Jaxon Pollock, at
Musée National des Beaux-Arts, Québec City, MNBAQ. Still/again FFC at
0131, 0140. Surely CBC/SRC, rather than commercial, and closer than
far Quebec, but looking at the Première program sked, which timezone
is not clear, nor which show would be talking ainsi, but most likely:
CKSB-7-FM relays CKSB-1050 93.5 KENORA ON CAN French NEWS/TALK ICI
RADIO-CANADA PREMIERE 20.0 kW 100.0 m, i.e. extended out of Winnipeg
--- 1542 km = 958 mi

99.1, at 0108, iHeart ad for a Capitol One Las Vegas NV event in
September, also heard on other stations; then ad for Joe`s in Fort
Smith:
KMAG 99.1 FORT SMITH AR COUNTRY 99.1 KMAG NEW COUNTRY 94.0 kW 600.0 m
As in Mount Magazine, really in AR, not OK, explaining the high HAAT =
1968 feet, but height above ground could be minimal. Distancefromto
thinx MM is at Pine Bluff! Ft Smith distance anyway is 331 km = 205
mi. Mt Magazine, the highest point in AR at 2753 ft, is about 50 mi
ESE of Ft Smith so total mileage about 255. Back when I had a
multi-element FM antenna it was at the limit of my normal groundwave
reach.

96.7, at 0117, ``Mix 96``. There are too many such nicknames on 96.7,
AL, OH, ON, ND; but one is close to the Probable Target Area (PTA)
near Kenora above; SE of Winnipeg and the third largest city in
Manitoba!:
CILT-FM 96.7 STEINBACH MB CAN CLASSIC HITS MIX 96.7 100.0 kW 56.0 m
Mix 96 --- 1464 km = 909 mi

99.3, at 0118, ``currently 72 degrees``, which means it`s not
Canadian, but pretty far north. Now all I need to do is follow an
isotherm at that time and date! If near MB, there is none in ND, and
the closest of three full-powers, in NW corner of MN is:
KKDQ 99.3 THIEF RIVER FALLS MN COUNTRY 99 18.0 kW 118.0 m
1311 km = 814 mi
Axually, it`s easy to look up TRF 3-day NWS history in CDT, bingo!:
12 20:56 E 8 10.00 Fair CLR *72* 64 76% NA NA 29.68 1004.8
12 19:56 E 6 10.00 Fair CLR *72* 64 76% NA NA 29.66 1004.1

107.9, at 0125, YL DJ with ``confession session`` phone caller about
love songs, plays ``I`m a Sucka for U``. 0129 DJ is Delilah, on Magic
107.9. Normally vacant frequency but too steady to be Es. Finally
0145, ``here in Fayetteville``:
KEZA 107.9 FAYETTEVILLE AR ADULT CONTEMPORARY MAGIC 107.9 99.0 kW
384.0 m Soft Rock --- must be a tropo duct surpassing numerous Tulsa

RF 20, 19-1, KQCW-HD Muskogee for Tulsa
No time to explore multi/sub channels for each, but rabbitears.info
listings I have found to be quite accurate.

As always my DTV DX is via Zenith set-top-box converter, fed by one
antenna about 7 feet above roof peak, hi VHF/UHF only, reflector
element slightly broken/hanging misaligned, fix-aimed SSE toward OKC,
and no amp. Under dead condx it will not decode KETA 13, KOCM 16, KSBI
23. Besides not being on UHF, OETA`s problem is QRM from 2nd harmonic
of local 107.1 KNID which falls within ch 13 on 214.2 MHz.
I used to be able to get KETAs-13 by carefully placed rabbit ears, but
not lately: something changed?? Several greater FM/TV antennas and
rotors have not survived storms thru the years. Thus I cannot even try
for lowband Es DTV DX; altho this antenna did once manage to DX KBSD
RF6 Ensign KS by strong tropo so I do recheck for that (Glenn Hauser,

I`m bandscanning the entire 22-25 MHz range for anything at all other

hit. I`m hoping for some broadcast harmonix, but no luck yet. I showed
in my Hunting Harmonics [sic] with Hauser column in NASWA FRENDX, SWBC

``Rocking M Moves Forward With Bankruptcy Reorganization
By Adam Jacobson - March 29, 2022

Three years ago, a family feud of sorts ensued for Doris and Monte
Miller. The longtime Kansas-based broadcasters dismissed two family
members, son Christopher Miller and grandson Cale Miller, from the
company. Then came barbs from Doris and Monte that Christopher Miller
had unwisely expanded Rocking M Media‘s holdings to 32 stations
between 2008 and 2018, putting the finances in a difficult position.
There was also a April 2019 deal that never closed, with Doris and
Monte Miller seizing control and taking the stations dark.

Today, Doris and Monte Miller are moving forward with a plan designed
to ensure the family’s media holdings, which date to the 1880s,
continue to generate profit while bringing luster back to a legacy
that includes The A.Q. Miller Family School of Journalism and Mass
Communications at Kansas State University, named after Monte’s
father.

Rocking M Media has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection.

Update: On May 11, 2022, Rocking M Media filed paperwork with the FCC
amending its licensee status to “debtor in possession.”``

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Saturday June 11 at first check 1423,
no signal yet from LRA36 into Bs As remote, nor at 1453 vs S3/S4 noise
level on it; and still not at 1500. 1508 checking Campo, Brasil
remote; 1510 Brasília is now getting it JBA S1/S2, so back to Bs As
where it`s much better, S6/S7. Has just signed on late as often
haphazard. 1511 Antártida themesong. 1514 canned ID as ``Radio
Arcángel San Gabriel, Base Esperanza, su compañía``, omitting
``Nacional`` unlike all the others, song. 1518 the YL DJs finally come
on ``live``, greeting listeners to sexto programa of 2022 season, i.e.
the same one we heard on Wednesday. One of the YLs has a noticeably
higher-pitched voice. Geo coordinates -- they always mention that.
Base was founded on 17 December 1952. Current clima temp was: minus 1
C, warm enough to caminar = walk around outside.

Abruptly cut off air 1522* until cut back on at *1531 during song.
1536 another new? canned ID by OM voice. 1537 efemérides = this week
in history including 1980? first TA flight from Bs As to Auckland NZ.
Then about Maldivas: not an hour can go by without discussing those
islands that Argentina is obsessed with. 1545 song. 1547 canned ID,
acknowledging listeners in Italy, Argentina, Colombia. 1551 contact
info. Signal is peaking now, VG, so that my fluency with Argentine
Spanish rather than reception is the limiting factor. 1553 a bit more
Malvinas history. Who would win a referendum among inhabitants, I
ask?

1600 music. 1606 canned ID, now fading a bit, repeat temp as minus
one. Says today`s = June 8 amanecer was 10:18 local = 1318 UT. Primary
meaning of amanecer is sunrise, but could be loosely confused with
totally different dawn, really alborada. gaisma.com agrees about 1320
for SR, while sunset would be 1813 UT; she also mentioned SS but could
not catch it. 1611 contact info again; 1617 citing significant dates
for military or geopolitcal events: 1952, 1954, 1957, 1961, 1964.
Signal now S5/S9 caused not by fading but by USB modulation. 1628
mentions ``próximo programa`` so probably about to close, song. 1633
ID and staff list, ``Nacional nos une``, music until cut off at 1635*.
Typical clumsy operation. Left it on until 1700 in background, but no
more. Nor any sign of an 1800 repeat as alleged, no signal at 1830
check.

Once again I lament the lame crutch they employ, citing so much
historical info rather than what is going on *now* or recently at
Esperanza or other outposts. FWIW,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esperanza_Base
says ``Research projects include: glaciology, seismology,
oceanography, coastal ecology, biology, geology, and limnology`` but
with no details at all.

Gary Pence, Dallas, tells me, ``Hi Glenn, I guess they just went QRT
mid song. I was listening thru LU4AA as well. QRT at 1635z. Heard also
on KFS Halfmoon Bay, CA. Heard one S unit above an S4 noise floor,
best between 1530 and 1600z`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 9700, June 11 at 0627, surprise! RNZP reactivated and
*also* // 11725! Yes, they do have two transmitters but one normally
only standby. Certainly not the expected new #3 which may not be ready
for service until a year from now. Both are S9+10/20, slightly less
selective fading on 11. No sign of Romania in German on 9700, but
would have just closed at 0627, clashing until then? Playing song
outroed as ``No, No, No``; would that be the Saturday night request
show? Nothing about 9700 on RNZP websked (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

And I should have added: TUC Radio opens with seabird calls; at 1808,

overloading the Kiwi. Trouble is, most of them are located at ham
stations nearby to transmitters. Also later, some ACI from other MW

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7489.9v), UT Sat June 11 at 0050, tune in WBCQ webcast for
`AAAWWW` just as he is concluding a look at Free Radio Weekly with my
Oklahoma CB pirate report on 27185v, but he does not go into any
usable details. So we know it`s new, as this FRW has just been
published. Of the three rotating editors, Harold Frodge is most prompt
in getting it out ASAP after the 0000 UT Saturday deadline.

At 0053 I quickly check SW frequencies via Maryland remote: besides
7490v, it`s also on 6160v and 5130, but not on 3265 like a biweek
ago. 5130 is the ``Radio Angela`` outlet otherwise not starting until
*0155. So I wonder what will happen between 01 & 02? Tonight it does
stay on with rock music at 0105 & 0128 chex. As UB frequently
outpoints, that hour and others beyond the Angela block are for
sale.

This week, at least, the 7490 webcast cuts AW off for an AW canned ID
in order to join Hal Turner on time at 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 97.3, June 11 at 1748 UT on caradio bandscanning for
possible Es, this relatively open frequency briefly utters ``Q97,
97.3`` --- geez, I already know what frequency I`m tuned to; a true ID
with what makes a station unique, like its *callsign* would be more
helpful, if not the Facility Number. Uplooked later on WTFDA DB,
including various varieties of how to punxuate Q97, comes up with one
in E Texas, two in TN, but this must be fringe area from here: KKJQ,
Garden City KS, 100 kW ERP, 244 m HAAT (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)
