From: Glenn Hauser via groups.io Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2023 3:47 AM Subject: Re: [WOR] RE - Glenn Hauser logs October 17, 2023 That reference shows many of the KSDA SW broadcasts are 1 kW ND including this one on 15320, rather than 100 kW with an azimuth. Those can`t be right. I would not rely on it for anything else. ** CANADA. 362 MCW kHz, Oct 17 at 0611 UT, dash and SB, 500 watt ND beacon at Greater Sudbury, Ont.
346 MCW kHz, Oct 17 at 0714 UT, dash and YXL, 500 watt NDB at Sioux Lookout, Ont. Tough copy but must be this regular (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9440, Oct 17 at 2150, R. Cairo is on, YL talking English? but distorted, S9+20 direct --- but 2152 drops to dead air. Something`s amiss at Abis and/or cutoff at Cairo (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUAM. 15320, Oct 17 at 2158, open carrier with some hum, S7/9+10 direct; 2200 AWR theme, s/on in English mentions language on 15320 but can`t copy it. Then heard ``Suara`` so Indonesian-related? Aoki says ``Nga``, abbr. for what? EiBi says ``NJ`` to INS = Indonesia, and his readme says ``NJ Ngaju Dayak: Indonesia-Borneo (0.9m)[nij]``; WRTH UD under USA:AWR just calls it Dayak (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 6200.00, Oct 17 at 0645, S7/S8 open carrier, presumably Hikari FM, pirate still testing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7300.09 approx., Oct 17 at 0640, JBA S7/S9 talk probably sermon from the hamish pirate heard before only on UT Sundays but this is Tuesday. Nothing from another one now on 7320 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785+, Oct 17 at 2200, VOT on the air, VG S9+20/30 direct in English, some distortion during music. 2218 ``always-by-your-side`` promo (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** UKQOGBANI. 15245, Oct 17 at 1327, no signal yet from Woofferton, rather just barely audible carrier off-frequency, no doubt VOKorea. This is for the one-hour special from 1330 marking the 80th anniversary of Woofferton. 17785 eastward is on already with Encompass IS. Back to 15245 at 1330, now it`s on aimed USward with no het or other QRM, SINPO 45444 or S9/+20, so I listen mainly to it but 17785 is almost as good with a bit more fading. This on the NRD-545 with 100-ft E/W longwire; but heard the last few minutes sufficiently on DX-398 portable with telescopic antenna only. After sign/on, at 1331-1348, monolog by Dave Porter with great detail about all the different transmitters the WOF site has used over the years, concluding with RIZ from Croatia capable of DRM. 1348 asking for reports to radio@encompass.tv for special eQSL and chance to win something in a drawing. Then we hear voices of a number of other current or former engineers and other staff; including at 1352 G8XYJ. 1358 the first YL voice, office manager; interspersed with more QSL requests. 1402 Lilliburlero. At 1412 starts playing IS/IDs of: VOA signing off with Yankee Doodle Dandy, London Calling, Bow Bells, RCI, NHK, DW, RFE/RL Praha, B-B-C- chime notes, RNW. The same sequence repeats over and over and over again until cut off the air at 1430 during NHK with no further announcements. Quite nice nostalgia, and congrats to WOF. The WORLD OF RADIO iogroup was also flooded with reports on this. It would have been nice if defunct sites, Rampisham, Skelton had received similar treatment on their anniversaries (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 365 MCW kHz, Oct 17 at 0704 UT, ND beacon SYZ, new one for me, 25 watts at Shelbyville IL. Same frequency where recently heard AA, Fargo/Harwood ND, but dxinfocentre.com places it in Minnesota (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2212 monitoring: NOT confirmed UT Tuesday October 17 at 0030 on WRMI 9395; rather rock music from before 0030 continues; Legends? I asked Jeff White about this and the off-and-on appearance of WOR UT Mondays at 0030 on 7780. He says these are subject to pre-emption for specials and should both be on next week. Confirmed UT Tuesday October 17 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9+12 into Louisiana SDR starting with that 14-second uteblast override. Also confirmed Tuesday October 17 at 1326 the 1300 on WRMI 9955, S8/S9 direct. Next: 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2211] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW No new contributions to acknowledge this week, in US funds but not necessarily, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com Or MO, check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Oct 17 at 0652, obvious het direct from 711 kHz when tuned to 710, likely this as in mwlist: ``AOE SNRT Al Idaâ Al Amazighia El Aaiún 24h Laâyoune=El Aaiún 300 kW languages: Tamazight (Berber), Tachelhit, Rifain, ar // 936`` --- AOE as country means Spanish West Africa - hardly anymore, rather WESTERN SAHARA but occupied by MOROCCO imperialism, their station. At this late hour, far more likely than lower-powereds further into Africa, Europe, ME (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2325 UT October 17 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** EGYPT [non]. 9440, Oct 16 at 2217, no Cairo direct, just BBCWS in English which is via USAGM Tinang, PHILIPPINES. Something`s amiss at Abis (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6200, Oct 16 at 0655, JBA carrier, probably Hikari FM, the pirate in NW Mexico, which has been silent for quite a while. First time I`ve heard a trace checking almost nightly. Now nothing from other possible pirates on 7300v, 7320. Then Ron Howard reports: ``[WOR] 6200 kHz. (pirate) testing again --- 6200 AM - For a long time I had not been hearing any Hikari FM (pirate) signal and assumed he was having transmitter problems. Then on both Oct 15 and 16, I heard an open carrier with good signal strength (0450+ UT). Sent an email to the operator of Hikari FM, inquiring if I was correct in assuming he was testing again. Here is his reply, with the good news that he plans on returning to the air before too long with actual audio. Ron (Calif.) "Yes, I am having problems with my amplitude modulator. I need an audio amplifier to modulate it. The previous modulator got very hot and it was very inefficient which led to its failure. Right now the setup is a modulation transformer and I am building a class E audio amplifier. This setup allowed me to step up the power a little. The carrier is on because I will be doing some testing and pretty soon will be back on air with music. This is if all goes by plan. There is a lot of new music that will be coming and another reformatting with now separate time for electronic music and another time for Jpop. Thank you very much for your support! Best regards."`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 101.5, Oct 16 at 1955 UT, NO open carrier signal, no $ icon, so KOCD Okeene is finally turned off - but who knows whether permanently this time (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, K17JN-D, Enid`s only local but useless TV signal is *still* black and silent but at normal strength, Oct 16 at 1858 UT check. Apparently there is no great demand for 3ABN and subnetworx; in fact, I doubt many Enidians know it exist, or that it`s our very own, should scantuning hit on it and save. Yet there are three 7DA churches here, one of them in Spanish. 3ABN is on an upper tier ch 370 on Optimum cable, likely directly off satellite rather than RF 17, as it`s labeled -E, implying there be also a 3-hour delayed -W feed. Hmm, before this went black there were crawlers warning of a change of satellites. Online 3ABN program sked displays automatically in GMT like my computer, including still rerunning `AWR360 Broadcast to Baptism`, Saturdays at 1930, UT Thursdays at 0330 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 9955, Oct 16 at 0701, TOMBS still via WRMI, but modulation is crackling; also with Cuban jamming. Tnx a lot! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Mon Oct 16 at 2200, token English from SNR still holding up VG direct, S9+20. 2207 feature is interview with an Uruguayan author of a book about survivors of a plane crash in South America (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, Oct 16 at 2200, VOT English not off the air today, in fact just as big a sig direct as 17855 Spain, S9+10/20, but modulation somewhat distorted, worst during music at 2223. Heavy accent only makes it worse. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. But 2256 check, already off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Next airings of WORLD OF RADIO 2212: 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW [NEW] 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; also web-, phonecast; jammed?] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2211] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW No new contributions to acknowledge this week, in US funds but not necessarily, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com Or MO, check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 9960, Oct 16 at 0656, R. Vanuatu ID in passing, S3/S4 direct, with some ACI from 9955 WRMI even with USB tuning. Cuts off about 0658.7* for presumed QSY to 3945 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0020 UT October 17 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs October 15-16, 2023 |

Monday, October 16 2023
** BRAZIL. 5940.184, Oct 16 at 0214, JBA carrier presumed R Voz Missionária; 5935 WWCR not too strong now. Not to be confused, I hope with this: ``5940.19, Oct 9 at 0639, PMS audio on a discrete spur in the sideband of 5935 WWCR; no match on the minus side`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 6000, Oct 16 at 0215, RHC dead air at S9/+10 or trace of JBM presumably English. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EAST TURKISTAN. 9880, Oct 15 at 2212, Esperanto, so it`s CRI as sked via Kashgar, land of imperialist ChiCom genocide against Uyghurs and other Moslems. Note, it`s only Commies which speak Esperanto on SW! with Cuba. What would Zamenhof say? He died on 14 April 1917y, just missing the Bolshevik Revolutsiya. AFAIK not one gospel huxter uses Esperanto: audience would be too smart (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6930 USB, Oct 15 at 0211, jazz at S6/S9, 0235 more like soul vocal. These reports say it was Two Dog Radio until 0219* https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,119544.0.html followed by: Sycko Radio: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,119547.0.html and followed by a third one on same 6930 at 0253 I did not hear: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,119549.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PERU. 4930.6, Oct 16 at 0003, JBA carrier direct, surely the new station reported since Oct 6, on this frequency offset, R. Pitumarca, Sicuani, via R. Surandina. But nothing there at 0018 when checked via Bonaire SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, Oct 15 at 2211, NO signal from VOT into UTwente; so per Craig Tyson`s advice, checking: 9875, the 2030-2130 English frequency which sometimes stays on thru 2300 --- There is something S9 locking on at 9875.003, but modulation sounds like whispering, unreadable and can`t even guess the language. Maybe that`s TRT. Or VOK in Mandarin, also sked this hour. No, this is not splash from an adjacent, nothing on 9870 and 9880 has EAST TURKISTAN, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2212 monitoring: confirmed Sunday October 15 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz only, S9+17 with slight QRM from understation, Qur`an? so Iran sked until 2020. Also confirmed on WRN to Europe webcast and WRMI webcast. Also confirmed UT Monday October 16 at 0045 the 0030 on WRMI 7780, S7/S9 into Bonaire SDR. This was not on last week so I removed it from sked. Good thing I thought to recheck. So, what happens next week? Also confirmed UT Monday October 16 at 0306 about 4 minutes into so started circa 0302 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 -68 Hz as displayed later at 0354 by Maine SDR. Next: 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW [NEW] 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; also web-, phonecast; jammed?] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2211] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW No new contributions to acknowledge this week, in US funds but not necessarily, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com Or MO, check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search: whoopee, the `season` is back, able to detect a few on two receivers, three different antennas; despite line and other noise levels, Oct 16 at 0231 on 855, 1044 and two beating on 1053. At 0247, 855 and 828. At 0305, 855 and 1053. Not making any airtight claims, but: 855 & 828 both have 100 kW Ethiopians. 855 more likely RNE Spain synchros. 1044 has 10 & 20 kW from Spain but 200 kW from Ethiopia. 1053 Talksport UK synchros up to 500 kW, but also 50 kW Ethiopia -- the country common to all 4 frequencies. WRTH 2023 has no sked info, but this would be around 6 am local, likely to be on air and skipping out westward circa sunrise. MWlist shows 828 // 855 // 1044 all R. Ethiopia, 24h. 1053 is R. Oromiya not until *0400, but Talksport is 24h. Method: I scan the entire MW band with the new R75 set at 9 kHz steps, USB tuning 1 kHz below each: thus, 1 kHz tones/hets on TA frequencies stand out except of course those ending in -0 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1430 kHz, Oct 16 at 0233 UT, strong open carrier/dead air dominating at S9+10, occasional dips to S9. No stations in OK or nearby have favorable night patterns thisaway, but several ND day patterns + failure to modulate make this intriguing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0537 UT October 16 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
