VANUATU. 9960, June 25 at 0657, in bandscan direct, tune-in just in
time to hear an S1/S3 signal here, YL talking, sounds like French, but
cuts off at 0658*; back on briefly and off again to stay. This is a
formerly used R. Vanuatu frequency, nothing else scheduled now, so
surely this explains why 7260 is no longer heard before 0700, as I had
just reconfirmed a few minutes earlier. But are they moving to 7260
after 0700? NO, still nothing. 3945 is again being reported as the
next frequency, but still lacking the helpful harmonix 7890 & 11835 it
used to provide. 0700 is too early for me to get 3945 if on, and the
harmonix are still suppressed. Other reports:

``Lucio Otavio Bobrowiec, 3945 kHz, R. Vanuatu, VUT; 06/25, 0928-0937
YL, OM. 35333, 7890, 11835 off/inaudible (LOB). Tecsun 310ET, Dipole
18m, Embu SP Brasil``

Wolfgang Bueschel: ``9959.998 kHz, two radio signals here on that
channel at 0624 UT, probably R Vanuatu, Pacific radio program. S=9+5dB
on Edmonton, AB-CAN``

EiBi still shows 9960 but at 2300-0458 only. Then 7260 at 0458-1105 &
1959-2259; but also 3945 at 0458-1105 & 1845-1959.

Aoki shows 3945 at 0600-1000 & 1900-2000; 5040 at 2000-2400; 5055 at
2100-0100; 7260 at 0000-0559; and no others.

Yet different info in HFCC: the very first entry is VUT on 2485 at
1000-1900; 3945 at 0600-1100 & 1900-2000; 5040 at 2100-0100; 7260 at
2000-0700; 9960 at 2300-0700; all daily for the entire A24 season. RNZ
has filed those frequencies for them as they also do for Solomon
Islands. Vanuatu have only one 10 kW transmitter, so much of these
skeds must be taken as possible alternatives.
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** CUBA. 9700, June 25 at 0154, RHC in English with good signal; not

``listening to radio habana cuba on 11950 khz in english from 00:00
utc, very strong reception with very good audio etc but yl reading the
news speaks too quickly. Tecsun pl-660+15 mtr long wire`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Monday June 24 at 2200, token English from SNR,
S9+10/20 direct; also detectable on 17715, 15520 but not 15390 which
for Africa is always weakest here. First news item about the tragedy
of Melilla, when thousands of migrants mostly from Sudan were killed
trying to get into that enclave next to Morocco. 2220 interview about
researching the Spanish civil war. 2227 outro, has been with Nigel
Thompson, author of new Penguin book, ``Modern History of Spain``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.000, June 23 at *2200, VOT carrier cuts on a few sex
late, no modulation, S9/+5 into UTwente and not the usual .009 offset,
but cuts off at 2202* and never comes back for rest of hour. So much
for English to us and the Letterbox show. Should have checked previous
accidental alternates 11795 & 9875. Another anomaly followed UT June
24: JRX in Brasil heard them in unscheduled Portuguese after 0000 on
9870, test?; which is sked for Spanish at 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.010, June 24 at 2200, JBA carrier direct if it`s VOT;
but a few minutes later it`s S9/+10 but still insuff. vs noise level.
Into UTwente at 2218 when measured, S9+40/50 about Turkey`s solar
energy capacity. 2226 music. 2230 multi-lingual ID filler reel, music.
2237 `That`s Why` with Ms Badax, something about paradoxes,
contradixions, lying, logic. 2242 music. 2247 ``always-by-your-side``
promo. 2248 music. 2253 s/off by OM ignoring SW. 2253.4 IS to chopoff
at 2255.2* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9870.005, June 24 at 2355, VOT IS, S9+25/35 into UTwente,
with ACI until it`s off at 2356*, presumably CRI 9865 Urumqi. And at
2256 restart IS with Portuguese IDs; hard to understand, but seems
like ``Ouvem a TRT, Voz de Túrkiye`` [not Turquia, stress on the i].
JRX in Brasil heard this test? broadcast last night and we are
rechecking. Some modulation dropouts. 0000 UT June 25, S/on with
lengthy satellite parameters, 5-digit MHz frequencies, symbol rates,
etc., for a broadcast at 22h Turkish time, I think. At the very end
also mentioned SW 9870, time not copied, but presumably now and an
intentional broadcast before the 01-02 Spanish on same, rather than
accidental. Does not start with news, rather music, and very little
talk during hour. 0027 multi-lingual ID filler reel like during
English. 0034 `That`s Why` theme, now titled ``Por que``? YL announcer
with Luso not Braso accent, and JRX finds her Turkish accent makes it
harder to understand (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2248 monitoring: UT Sat June 22:
``I was passing through the 5-MHz band [5085] when I noticed that WTWW
had a very good signal (SINPO 45333) coming in tonight, and there was
Glenn's voice with "World of Radio" in progress. I already listened to
the latest episode via podcast, but by 0414 UTC, Glenn was talking
about New Zealand and then Oklahoma as the program progressed through
the episode.
The episode was done at 0428 UTC, followed by a religious song, a
couple of transmitter interruptions mid-song at 0430 UTC, then off for
good a moment later. The signal was down to SINPO 35333 before
sign-off. Eric Fetters-Walp, Lake Stevens, Washington``

Confirmed Sunday June 23 at 2027 the 2000 on WRN Europe webcast, but
not on the 2000 WRMI webcast only: rather, music fill; did WOR start
and cut off early or not at all? These timings have been problematic.
Still on skedgrid, and Wavescan started OK at 2030.

Confirmed Sunday June 23 at 2130 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.001,
S8/9+10, and 3975.002, S9/+10 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Sunday June 23 at 2330 on WRMI 7570, S9+15/20 into
Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 24 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into
Querétaro SDR.

NOT confirmed UT Monday June 24 at 0300 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6159.931,
S9/+10 into NH SDR. Instead, 0301 ID and nothing but rock music, no
announcements, until 0400 ID and turnover to TOMBS!

Larry Will explains: ``I was away this weekend and the automation
system failed to pick up JPL {Johnny Lightning?} for some reason. This
cascaded into the later programming as well. I apologize for the
non-airing. Lw``

Also confirmed Monday June 24 at 1930 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, into
UTwente: 6160.001 at S9+10 and 3975.004 at S7/9+5. Next:

0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW [irregular?];
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

generous check on a US bank for Summer Solstice from Gerald T.

Raleigh NC, to:

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5130v, June 23 at 2358, NO signal from this WBCQ into
Maryland SDR. Seems it has not come back since activated with a
stronger transmitter for `AAAWWW` UT June 22 until 0100. ``No *rump
none of the time``  --- I`m for that (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WTWW: SW100 transmitter update from George McClintock, June
23: ``Glenn, I have just removed the 4 loading inductors (coils) from
the Harris SW100 number 3 transmitter and placed them in cleaning
vinegar. After washing, they are ready to be put back into place.
These coils were so dirty that the motors were having a difficult time
moving them. I had to put a voltage regulator in that had been removed
and the wires tied together by the previous engineer. The high voltage
power supply is working well. We are getting ready to bring the Harris
SW100 transmitter up in the very near future.`` (via Glenn Hauser,
WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, June 24 at 0635, RV is gone again, no signal. I did
not check for other frequencies but he did: ``[WOR] R. Vanuatu on 3945
kHz --- Lucio Otavio Bobrowiec --- Hi all, 3945 kHz, R. Vanuatu, VUT;
06/24, 0934. 7260, 7890 and 11835 off/inaudible. OM 25422 (LOB).
Tecsun PL 310ET, Dipole 18m, Embu SP Brasil`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VENEZUELA. 4940, June 24 at 0639, JBA music, presumed Estación
4940. Usually nothing there around this hour, but surely this when
there be; has been quite erratic. Much earlier into Bonaire SDR but
unlogged, it had a VG signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 28290, June 24 at 2127, JBA carrier direct when there is
nothing else on 10m. I could report countless unID carriers, but
mostly internal birdies landing on odd split frequencies. This one
could be third harmonic of 9430 - but nothing listed anywhen there by
Aoki or EiBi. Let this anyway serve as a reminder to be alert for such
harmonix especially on higher bands when propagation opens up (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
