Saturday, September 21 2024
** CANADA. 28197 CW, Sept 20 at 2204, DE VE7MTY/B and 4 step-down power dashes; and on 28174, VVV DE VE1VDM/B, and series of dits/E`s, so 10m beacons from coast to coast. Also several phones higher up from South America; see CHILE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHILE. 28450 USB, Sept 20 at 2211, CE3KEY calling CQ DX after working a Canadian. QRZ.com: ``CE3KEY Chile flag Chile, Leonardo (Leo) Bonilla, Santiago, Chile`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, Sept 20 at 0637, S9+45 of dead air in Spanish from R. Rebelde, hohum; something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 800, Sept 20 at 0620, KQCV OKC with just a bit of distorted QRM, along with several others like CKLW, PJB. McAllen SDR check at 1558 daytime: still extreme distorted talk on 800, and matching cadence on non-distorted 690. BTW, Mauno Ritola points out that while the ``quick & easy`` version of mwlist does not specify Mexican states, the full database does (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 1460, Sept 20 at 0628, ``Grupo Fórmula`` mentioned as I tune across. IRCA Mexican log shows only two active on 1460, and one ORF: XEYC 1/1 kW Ciudad Juárez, Chih. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 11514.9, Sept 20 at 1510, JBA signal from ex-Hikari FM pirate. Also Sept 21 at 0020, JBA carrier vs S7/8 noise level on about 11514.92 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Fri Sept 200 at 2200, token English from SNR, VG direct and also on 17715, 15520 but still no 15390. Preview interview topic to be about paralympix (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SUDAN SOUTH [non]. 15550.015+, Sept 20 at 1508, Arabish S8/S9 direct and slightly off-frequency plus. Check UTwente just in time before 1527* readout 15 Hz high as above, it`s R. Tamazuj from site MADAGASCAR but at 1445-1600, not -1527* per HFCC, EiBi and Aoki. EiBi shows sibling service R. Dabanga for Darfur follows on 15550 from 1600 via Vatican, and 1700-1730 via France (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.004+, Sept 20 at 2159 tune-in, S9+20/30 direct, VOT English is already signing-on instead of IS, and starting olds: their clock must be fast. Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2215 in music. 2228 into UTwente when measured, music at S9+35/40. 2230 `Turkish Folk Tales`, ``The Nightingale``. 2234 TRTVOTVorld.com promo. 2235 music. 2240 `That`s Why` repeat, Archaeological Adventure in Anatolia: the Hittites. 2246 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music. 2251 headlines, 2252 s/off and IS until 2253.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U K [non]. 17745.009+, Fri Sept 20 at 1511, S5/S7 direct of 19-second announcement with music, looping with pauses, restarting every 36 seconds: ``BBC --- This is the BBC; there are no programmmes on this channel at present. Details of all our services are at bbcworldservice.com`` Lotsa luck finding anything about this there. At 1528 into UTwente when measured, S9+30/35. Keeps going past 1530 and even past 1600! Per HFCC & EiBi, this is amid a 17745 weekday sesquihour pause between: Somali 1400-1500 at 225 degrees via UAE, and Kinyarwanda 1630-1700 at 315 degrees via MADAGASCAR, i.e. thisaway. I`d opt for the latter site at this strength. But why waste all those 250 kW? On weekends, Somali is sked straight thru, 11-17 via UAE, 17-19 via Oman (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2261 monitoring: confirmed Friday September 20 at 2039 the 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1332.995-, S9 into UTwente across Europe; also on WRMI webcast only. Also confirmed Friday September 20 at 2227 the 2200 on WRMI 9955, S7/S9 into Bonaire SDR. Also confirmed Friday September 20 at 2248 the 2230 on SW Gold Radio, 3975.003-, S8/9+5 into UTwente. Next: 0300 UT Saturday WTWW 5085; 0930 UT Saturday WRMI 9455 to WNW; 1430 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 1730 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM [1900/2100]; 2300 UT Saturday WTWW 9475; 0000 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 0230vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0500]; 1900 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy; 2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW; 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW; 0300vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW [irregular]; 1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2000 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160. As a non-commercial service, voluntary financial support appreciated. Thanks this week for a generous seasonal contribution for autumn from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, by check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. One may also contribute via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5130 -74 Hz = 5129.926, Sept 20 at *2355, WBCQ comes on with IS and ID loop, but not 3265, S9/+10 into NH SDR. 2359 ``WBCQ, Radio Trump International on Radio Angela`` outdated ID, dead air and // 7490 after 0000 Sept 21, opening `AAAWWW` theme with first interjexion ``we have to fight for free speech``, etc. With Angela in Florida studio 9, right into politix, about taxes, ``Democrat crap``. Made worse by both of them, especially Angela, yelling, which from a studio makes their delusions even more of a turn-off. So I hardly pay attention but let this new episode run in background. 5130- goes to dead air at 0100 before they are quite finished; at 0102 canned WBCQ ID, more DA and off by 0103 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 28200+ CW, Sept 20 at 2207, twenty T`s in a row and long pause, probably this in WGB list: ``28200.5 N4WLO - Theodore AL USA EM50uo - #0 (19 Sept 2024) Note: ID only, every 10 min. at: 1/11/21/31... + dashes between cicles`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0246 UT September 21 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Friday, September 20 2024
** MEXICO. 800, Sept 19 from 0620, the extremely distorted signal is certainly XEERG, Ojo de Agua, Nuevo León. After two nights of hearing horribly distorted QRM to KQCV 800 OKC, not noted earlier UT Sept 19 during primetime, but again now at 0620, altho not as severe as before. See previous reports under OKLAHOMA [and non].
This time I`m checking remote receivers. NOT heard in OKC, so not a defect of KQCV itself. Not heard at Durango2 SDR. But YES, audible at these: Querétaro; Austin TX; even Truth or Consequences NM making me wonder if XEROK could be attempting a comeback. At 0625 am also hearing it quite well at McAllen TX SDR in the RGV, so I stick with that. Without KQCV or other QRM there, I can tell there are Spanish announcements between rock tunes. At 0638, Spanish ID mentions ``92.9``. A BIG clue, so let`s take another look at listings: mwlist: ``MEX XEERG RG La Deportiva 92.9 FM Ojo de Agua * 10/2.5 relays XHERG 92.9 MHz, ex XEDD La Tremenda`` Who cares what state it`s in? Mwlist does not. But they should, since there are more than one Ojo de Agua in the country! Google searching without specifying Nuevo León leads to the major one in Estado de México. But look at this in the 2024 IRCA Mexican Log: ``800 XEERG NL Ojo de Agua 10000 2500 R-G La Deportiva 24h? SPT ORO // XERG 690 AM, XHERG 92.9 FM, and XHFMTU 103.7 FM-HD2. ex-XEDD. Stereo. Staying on AM per IFT. Active on AM 11/23 (logged by DXer) and included in 8/24 IFT list. This station was purchased because of its powerful FM license, giving the operator of XERG 690 AM an FM "rim shot" into Monterrey`` Facebook: ``La localidad de Ojo de Agua está situado en el Municipio de Agualeguas (en el Estado de Nuevo León). Tiene 82 habitantes. Ojo de Agua está a 380 metros de altitud.`` So there we have both an FM frequency match and a geographical match for XEERG near Monterrey. We do not have a format match, but it would not be unusual for a sports station to be playing music instead in the nightmiddle. On distorted 800, I hear another announcement break at 0642 before quitting SDR. Final check direct at 0647: less distorted music still QRMing KQCV. Then in the daytime at 1615 UT, I check McAllen again: and there it is by groundwave on 800, extremely distorted talk, presumably about sports. Non-local strength, only S5. While monitoring via McAllen remote in the night, I did not yet know about the // on 690. But now at 1620 there is ALSO NON-distorted sports talk mentioning Monterrey, on 690. By 1710, no signal on 690, off? but still distorted on 800. This is not splatter from anything on 790 or 810. The TWR Brownsville SDR is not available. BTW when I first checked the new McAllen SDR a few days ago, it was deaf below 1800 kHz, but not anymore. I had previously asked if anyone else was hearing the distorted 800, but no replies (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2261) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2260 monitoring: confirmed UT Thursday September 19 at 0130 on WRMI, 5010 direct, S9+15/20 in high storm noise level, and also a few noise burst QRMs briefly. Followed `Frecuencia al Día`, and some music fill, no ID before WOR. Also confirmed Thursday September 19 from 1630.7 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.000+, S9+5 into UTwente. Following ID as ``Shortwave Radio, Germany`` on both 6160 and 3975, but 3975 is not on yet, scheduled from 1700. ** BRAZIL. 28270.5 CW, Sept 18 at 2204, only beacon heard is dash VVV PY4MAB. Higher on 28 MHz, only one unID phoner in quick scan. WGB list: ``28270.5 PY4MAB - Poços de Caldas MG BRA GG68re - #0/1/3 (14 Sept 2024) Note: VVV ID + grid + BCN + 5" carr. Cobra 142 gtl mod. ant vert 10w`` - QRZ.com: ``PY4MAB Brazil flag Brazil, MAURICIO BERALDO, LUIZ ZANGIACOMI 145, POÇOS DE CALDAS MG ZIP CODE 37704-274, MG, Brazil`` https://www.qrz.com/db/PY4MAB includes brief biography, linx to social media, huge photo gallery of equipment, the city, wildlife, nary a human, and: ``I have a Radio Beacon on the frequency of 28.270.5 CW, 24 hours a day, vertical antenna, 10 watts of power. In 2020 it will be 10 years since Beacon is on the air. Whoever receives the signals and sends me a confirmation by letter I will respond to everyone and send a special QSL card from my city.`` As name implies, city is known for its hot springs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA [and non?]. 800, Sept 18 at 0635 UT, KQCV OKC again tonight with continuous QRM, extremely distorted seems like music, right on same frequency only. Does not match anything on 780, 790, 810 or 820. This time I DF it with the altazimuth wrist-mounted DX-398: peaks NNW/SSE at same angle as KQCV. Possibly out of KQCV itself, but again no sign of it in daytime check after 1430. Is anyone else hearing this? Based on DF alone, but a few possibilities: CHAB Moose Jaw SK, WSHO New Orleans LA, XEQT Veracruz -- but none of them very likely by power and distance. CHAB & WSHO are OK in remote daytime chex 1745. How about PJB? Own Bonaire SDR tied up as often. Next time I should check remotes when I am hearing that, especially the one in OKC (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA [non?]. 11936.143+, Sept 18 at 1806, very rapid chirping vs Yemen service, S9+20. Jamming from Iran? UTwente flails to lock onto when tuned to 11935, but finally stix here when tuned to 11936.00 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Wed Sept 18 at 2201, token English from SNR, S9+30/40 direct, 2202 news, something about democratic reforms proposed, such as decriminalizing insulting royalty. 2212 check, 17715 back to weaker than 17855 since it`s toward S America, but today is also fluttechoey unlike the others: 15520 sufficient and 15390 still AWOL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.005, Sept 18 at *2200.3, VOT carrier cuts on late, dead air at first and powering up from S8 to S9+20 as monitored direct; 2201 brings up modulation as olds is starting. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. Recheck 2214 ending `Review of the Turkish Press`, into a new segment I had not heard before, about inventions; starting with assassination of Chicago Mayor Harrison on 28 October 1893. This led to improvements in body protexion: steel armor and shields obsolete. Something about a Polish immigrant`s work. Dr. George E. Goodfellow discovered that someone avoided death because a bullet hit his handkerchief in pocket, and this led to bulletproof vest invention, as he demonstrated by having an assistant fire at him point-blank. Never explained materials made of, kevlar never mentioned! But show outro as `Unscripted Twists of Fate` -? or more likely, `Unexpected-`? 2222 music. 2233 recheck into UTwente when measured, S9+45, more music. 2238 ``always-by-your-side`` promo, `Sports Panorama`. 2247 music. 2252 s/off as if on 17620 at 1230. 2253 IS. 2256 restart IS with German IDs. 2300 ~correct timesignal and s/on German, 2301 Alten to 2302.6* chop. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Sept 18 at 0645-0651 UT, MW NDB bandscan hits a lot of intriguing JBA carriers, but no IDs audible, still plenty of storm noise. From RNA listings and previous monitoring experience, I guess them to be: 305, RO, Roswell NM, 400 watts 326, MA, Midland TX, 400 watts 338, TU, Tulsa OK, ``0`` watts 344, JL, Joplin MO, ``0`` watts 346, YXL, Sioux Lookout ON, 500 watts 359, SDR, Snyder TX, 25 watts, but off? 379, RUE, Russellville AR, 25 watts, ``RU`` 384, JB, Lumberton NC, 0 watts, only listed, doubtful 385, HO, Hot Springs AR, 50 watts 404, HU, Hutchinson KS, 25 watts 407, HRU, Herington KS, 25 watts 420, FQ, Fairmont MN; PK Olathe/Herbb KS; or TU Tupelo MS, each 25 watts Only ID copied this session at 0650: 395, CA, Newton/Harvs KS, 25 watts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2260 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday September 17 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+15 into Maryland SDR. Also confirmed Tuesday September 17 at 2331 on Shortwave Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.002+, JBA S7/S8 noisy into UTwente. Also confirmed Wednesday September 18 at 1930 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.001+ at S9+10/15 and 3975.003 also at S9+10/15 into UTwente. Also confirmed Wednesday September 18 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -74 Hz = 7489.926, S9+15 into NH SDR. Next: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160. As a non-commercial service, voluntary financial support appreciated. Thanks this week for a contribution via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily to woradio at yahoo.com, ``Pleased to once again express my appreciation and admiration. 73, peace, and good health de Jim Gershman, K1JJJ in Rhode Island!`` One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank in US funds to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1530, Sept 18 at 0653 UT, Mexmx mixing with WCKY, unusual. 0654 phone number in Spanish starting with AC 512, which is San Antonio TX area - or was as I well remember from living there, but it shrank in 1992 to Austin area. And on the altazimuth wrist-mounted DX398, DF SSW almost fits for that, really closer to due south. 0659 and again at 0700, IDs as ``La Raza 95.1``. Therefore per NRC AM Log, it`s KZNX, Creedmoor TX, U7 10000/220/1000/55 watts, address in El Paso, but that`s the group HQ. Creedmoor is not even indexed in my road atlas. It`s 15 miles south of Austin, 2020 census population 434. What do you bet it`s not on 220 watt night power? KZNX last logged April 8 during Total Solar Eclipse. You might expect a TX 1530 in Spanish would be KGBT Harlingen, U8 50/10/50 kW, but night pattern disfavors the north, main lobe ESE into GOM, and it`s TUDN sports (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0005 UT September 19 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
