Logs
** CANADA. Responses to my obs of ``no report received`` from Trenton
Military:

In the UDXF iog: ``Michael Scheel, Oct 5 #111948, After seeing that
Glenn Hauser reporting via his log online that he hadn't heard Trenton
for a while. I tried it just now (2032z) and hearing it weak but
readable via a SDR in the Midwest. The broadcast consisted of a roll
call of several terminals with "no report received".``

And Oct 5-6 on the WOR iog: ``Tuned into Trenton Military on 6754 kHz
starting at 0031 UTC (S9+20 signal into central NC) and heard several
actual weather reports for Shannon, Prestwick (sp?), and Keflavik,
however after that, everything else was "no report received" for all
other locations (Shearwater, Greenwood, Gander, Halifax, Trenton,
Bagotville, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Cold Lake, Winnipeg, Edmonton,
Abbotsford, Comox, Victoria, Vancouver). As usual the station clock
reports the current Eastern Daylight Time as Zulu time.

After a 0059 UTC sign off, it started up again around 0112 with many
"no report received" observations until 0130 when there were three
additional reports that were not "no report received" for Zagreb,
Split, and Thule. They certainly have a nice antenna farm -

Doug White KA5ETS, Carrboro NC`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** CANADA. 28197 CW, Oct 6 at 1528, after getting some California
beacons, one JBA here, starting with V-. Only listed at WI5V roster is
VE7MTY, Pitt Meadows BC, 25 watt vertical; I`ve heard before last Oct,
Nov, Dec, Jan and before then too (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Oct 6 at 1935 checking for RHC English, no signal into
Maryland SDR; 1937 checking Missouri, cuts on and off and on at S7/S9.
Something`s always wrong at RHC. The Other Side:

``READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW October 5, 2023 OPINION
The 99% that isn't the Cuban Government's fault...
'We could say that for every 100 lines that Cubans stand in, 99 are
the Yankees' fault; for every 100 hours without electricity, they'd
only suffer one if it weren't for Washington's villainy'
RAFAELA CRUZ | La Habana
Cartoon used by Castroist propaganda. (Cubainformacion)

For Castroism, the misery in which Cuba languishes is only 1% its
responsibility. Everything else is the Americans' fault, according to
calculations by the country's Energy and Economy ministers on national
TV...``

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE [non]. Re: "What`s a yacht, and what`s nacht?" --- Greg
Hardison replies: ``Amerikan yachts tend to gravitate toward
well-heeled Republicans. Former Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos,
for example, was known to have 11 yachts of her own, to ply the waters
of our Great Lakes. Ahoy!`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, Oct 6 at *1459.7 carrier on, 1500 seems to
JIP intro in English, never IDing as Voice of Martyrs, Korea, S9/+20
from secret site, this time pronouncing Dhivehi as ``dee-VEH-ee``
introducing reading from Proverbs, 1503 switch to YL with that in DD.
Much more about the language:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maldivian_language
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Friday October 6 at 2200, token English from SNR, VG
into DX-398 with clipon reelout, and just as good on 15520 backwards
for ME. News includes migrant and wildfire problems on Canary Islands
[named for dogs, not birds]; 2207 feature about Picasso, this being a
Picasso Year, 50th anniversary of his death. With art museum person
mainly discussing influences upon him. Lacking any visual element
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Oct 6 at 2157 JBA on portable DX-398 with IS,
somewhat better later but I`m favoring Spain. At 2248 checked into
UTwente, S9+20/40 on 11785.009, music, 2251 s/off, 2252 IS loop, 2256
restart with German IDs, 2259.7 approx timesignal way early and s/on
German, Nachrichten, but chopoff about 2301.7*. Something`s always
erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 26110, Oct 6 at 1517, unreadable talk, but sounds better in
USB than NBFM on the NRD 545. KMK282, the studio audio from KOVR `13`,
Stockton/Sacramento CA, has been reported active lately. 10m beacons
for CA are also in (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28300 CW, Oct 6 at 1521, K6FRC/B, beacon sending nothing but
callsign, either 10 or 100 watts from Tracy CA. I have not heard K6FRC
beacon on 13565 in many months, suspected inactive (Glenn Hauser, OK,
OR) See also CANADA

** U S A. 28265 CW, Oct 6 at 1522, DE K6SSB/B, beacon sending nothing
but that. Not on the WI5V roster on any frequency, and nothing about
beacon or anything but identity at QRZ.com: ``K6SSB USA flag USA,
Matthew J Iaconis, 650 Ash Ct, Brentwood, CA 94513 USA`` (Glenn
Hauser. OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28244 CW, Oct 6 at 1524, EEEEEEEE DE WA6APQ/B CN----. 30
watts vertical from Long Beach CA, per WI5V roster. QRZ.com:

``WA6APQ USA flag USA, DEWEY MYERS, 2903 Monogram Ave, LONG BEACH, CA
90815 USA --- The WA6APQ BEACON on 28.2440 MHz is located on a 330
foot hill (Signal Hill) in Long Beach, California. Radio is a Motorola
Mitrek consolette base station, 30 watts, antenna is Antron 99
vertical. Code speed is approx. 10 wpm and operates 24/7. Since 1993.

If you would like a beacon QSL card, send SASE or SAE with $ 1.00 (no
IRC's) or email for a printable QSL card. Include the standard (RST)
signal report, UTC time and date. Audio/Video and Youtube recordings
are welcome. Thank you for looking.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2211 monitoring: confirmed Friday
October 6 after 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9+12 into
nearby Noale SDR, and no CC QRM, England finally gone.

NOT confirmed Fri Oct 6 after 2030 on WRMI webcast only, rather world
music tunes we have heard countless times before. This airing has
continued on the System B skedgrid for several weeks, never
fulfilled.

Confirmed Friday October 6 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, JBA into portable
DX-398 but surely much better otherwise. Preceded by music other than
IS & ID loop; as SW is just resuming after webcast only break. Next:

Thanks this week for generous financial support from Richard Langley,
Fredericton NB, in US funds but not necessarily, via PayPal to
woradio at yahoo.com

Or via MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13974 USB, Oct 6 at 1510, sounds like MARS or some US
military, after a few words switches to digibursts, S8/S9. More talk,
between ``405`` and ``406``, one much weaker than the other; or
``Highland Echo``? Something like that, then ``moving to primary,
out``. Searching frequency at UDXF iog, besides Russian, Taiwan and
Chinese stuff, was active for Armed Forces Day crossband several years
ago, and several logs of NNN0ASF, MARS, Easton MO (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 17680-17685-17690, Oct 6 at 1456, DRM noise at S9, too
close to weak AM signal on 17690, but DRM cuts off at 1457*. That
uncovers an AM on 17685 in French vs CCI QRM? Or voice-over something
in background. But this also goes off at 1458*, uncovering a JBA
carrier on 17685 AM.

Listings are of NO help: only 17685 in HFCC is non-digital Issoudun at
1600-1630, an hour later. Nothing in Aoki. EiBi shows that as
``CLA Amharic R.Int.V.o.Fanno AH EAf /F-i``

The 17690 until 1500 would be VOA Tibetan via Lampertheim, Germany
or/and CNR1 jamming, of course (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** BRAZIL. 6107-6127 approx., Oct 5 at 0205, extremely distorted blob,
can`t specify a peak point, hyper-enthusiastic Brazuguese talk, like
futebol play-by-play. It`s RNA, totally missing from 6180 leaving that
clear for MWV Madagascar in Spanish. By 0211, manage to match mod
peaks to 11780 which sounds OK on separate radio. Something`s bollixed
up at Brasília!

Ron Trotto was first reporting this as unID into IL on 6115. That`s
approaching local midnight at 0300 UT; do futebol games run that late
in Brasil or is it a playback? Next check at 0240, both are off:
previously logged chopping off air during programming at 0230* rather
than nominal 0300*. Ron Howard replies:

``The only major sports event found in Brazil (Rio De Janeiro)
tonight, as noted on online, was the Volleyball Men's Olympic
Qualification Tournaments, with Brazil vs Ukraine. Final score -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfonZnrOPTE
Ron (Calif.)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2211)

** CANADA. From Richard B Langley, NB: ``Hi Glenn: Just a minor
nitpick of your last program. Miramichi is actually pronounced as
mir-a-mi-SHEE. Not so it rhymes with Don Ameche. Another weird
Canadian``

Richard, Tnx, please don`t hesitate to correct/enlighten me about any
further mistaxe. I do tend to default to penultimatism u.o.s. (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2211)

** FRANCE [and non]. 6100, about MiniTransAt, we`ve been calling this
a yacht race, but I note that word does not appear on the homepage
when translated to English. These are of course, sailboats, unmotored,
right?? That`s the point of the race. I suppose there is some ideal,
not very large size, for speed, yet able to grab plenty of wind.
What`s a yacht, and what`s nacht? It seems American usage is quite
different from elsewhere. Huge luxury vessels also called yachts.
Google translate indicates that if they have to say it, the French use
the English word (Glenn Hauser, landlubber, WORLD OF RADIO 2211)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2210 monitoring: confirmed UT

Also confirmed UT Thursday October 5 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S6/S8 into

** U S A. 7505, Oct 5 at 0649, S9+40 of dead air yet again from WRNO
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, WTWW: Update from George McClintock as of 0200 UT
October 6. Not on air last night or tonight. Problem is the remote
control which had been reliable for years, is not working. Will have
to download the program and install on a different computer. Bob
Biermann agrees to wait until next Monday night = UT Tuesday October
10 at 0100; but possibly could start earlier if the remote is working.
He can also handle the PPP feeds. SFA in Colorado still wants to sell
it; maybe in a couple months. If so, George hopes to retain access to
one of the transmitters. One of the antenna fields to be combined with
neighboring property for greater value over $ 1 million (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, Oct 5 circa 0645, no signal from R. Vanuatu. As also
noted by Ron Howard: ``Radio Vanuatu - Oct 5, tuned in at 0644 UT,
expecting to hear them on 7260, as they normally switch frequencies
from 7260 to 3945, at 0658, but not today; already on 3945 at tune in;
0659, promo for the Vanuatu TV program "Morning Show"; 0701, start of
news. Wonder when they started broadcasting on 3945 today? Ron

Glenn Hauser logs October 4-5, 2023  View Printable Version
Thursday, October 05 2023

Logs
** CHINA [and non]. 11895, Oct 4 at 0640, S1/S3 direct, mixture of two
signals with beat, so this time it`s CNR1 jamming plus RFA Mandarin
via SAIPAN (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 11860, Oct 4 at 1457, R. Martí with whine QRM, more
of a problem here than Cuban noise jamming, i.e. the defective Sa`udi
transmitter of Republic of Yemen Radio; no doubt assisting the Cuban
jammers in the target area (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11510, Oct 4 at 1454, JBA music, presumably
current frequency for Recep`s Turkiyeish jamming and/or Dengê Gel, via
Uzbekistan? On interior longwire due to storming (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Wed Oct 4 at 2208 after news, token English from SNR,
feature interview about an exhibition on ``Feminine Power in Art and
Belief``. VG direct, others 17715, 15520, 11670 hardly usable (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Oct 4 at 2202 & 2230 chex, NO signal direct from
VOT English; something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2210 monitoring: NOT confirmed,
Tuesday October 3 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, rather 2-month-old #2202 from
early August! WRMI`s new server setup began Oct 2, and was supposedly
going to continue airing latest 2210. The previous airing at 0030 Oct
3 was also #2202 as noted by Richard Lemke.

``9395 kHz, an Old edition of WOR is played, S9 signal, static QRN,
0032, 0034, 0045 (45443), 0059, October 3 UTC 2023 [Tue]

9395, an Old edition of WOR is played, weak heard voice beginning,
2339, 2340, 2359 (45343-2) 2359, October 3 [Tue] (Lemke, Richard
-AB)``

Beginning UT Oct 4, I have made sure the remaining airtimes are really
latest 2210.

Confirmed 2210, Wednesday October 4 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -71 Hz into
Maryland SDR, S9+5/12. Next:

0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1400 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; also webcast, phonecast;
jam?]

No new financial support this week, which might have been sent via MO
or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, Oct 4 at 0000, no signal yet from WTWW, supposed to
reactivate now; but *0010 cuts on JIP PPP SFA. For some reason,
Maryland SDR will not synch on it, But NH SDR displays frequency
within 0.5 Hz. Tuning direct it`s VG and also has reactivated JBA spur
carriers approx. plus/minus 12.9 kHz = 5072.1 & 5097.9, negligible but
utenoise circa 5098 might have a complaint about it. George McClintock
tells me there were more startup problems with program feed, and
Bishop Bob Biermann would not start yet tonight. Indeed, WTWW ID at
0100* and off.

Similar report: ``Hi Glenn! I sat on 5085 kHz on Oct 4 at 0000 UTC
waiting for WTWW to sign on. Not hearing anything, I thought once
again the station was having some issue getting on the air, so I tuned
out at 0005. I tuned back in at 0013 and the Pastor Pete Peters Show
was already in progress. At 0100, a male announcer read a five-second
ID “This is WTWW, Lebanon, Tennessee, USA”, which was followed by ten
seconds of guitar picking, perhaps an intro into a new program, before
the signal abruptly ended. I tuned out at 0102. Steve Howe, Saint
Albans, Vermont``

24 hours later, UT Oct 5 at 0000, standing by 5085 again for WTWW, no
signal yet; still nothing by 0010 as I wrap up this report (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7505, Oct 4 at 0627, S9+20 of dead air again from WRNO,
maybe will revive later with Mandarin as has been reported. One
wonders what kind of audience they expect on 20 degree beam, still
available 22-16, and never-used 15590 at 16-22 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. Oct 4 at 1820 UT, I`m QRX for the much publicized nationwide
emergency alert test: tuned to 91.7 KOSU, 740 KRMG, 12160 WWCR. First
heard on 91.7 saying it runs from 2:20 to 2:40 pm Eastern; a few sex
later on 740; 550 KFRM slow on uptake if ever; not heard interrupting
a SW station -- who cares about that?! However, it was over in much
less than a minute, stations resuming programming, as I hurriedly
scanned some other AM stations. As for what happened on cell phones, I
have no idea. Big deal? TV also on some cable channel, unknown as
can`t monitor everything at once. However, Optimum had warned us
yesterday this was coming and might have to reset cable tuners. There
was no real-time msg about this in my email inboxes, nor spam folders
-- who cares? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs October 3, 2023  View Printable Version
Tuesday, October 03 2023

Logs
** CHINA [non?]. 11895, Oct 3 at 0638, Chinese at S6/S9. This is a
regular around this hour bandscanning, so I finally look it up: RFA
via SAIPAN at 03-07 per EiBi, of course also CNR1 jamming. In this
case suspect it`s really Saipan, do not hear a second signal, but if
there be timepips at hourtop 0600 or 0700, it will be CNR1 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11520, Oct 3 at 1524, JBA signal[s], nothing else
in the 11.5s, presumably the Turco/Kurdo radio war (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. Oct 3 circa 1530, the high line noise level has
diminished and become more intermittent, cutting on and off. Still
worse around 7 MHz than higher bands. In previous report about signals
breaking thru it, R. Martí, after 0600, should read 7335 & 7435, not
7365 & 7465 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Oct 3 at 2200, VOT not off the air today, S9+35
into UTwente, at first not too distorted; after news, 2211 `Review of
the Turkish Press`; 2212 ``with you every hour`` promo; 2213 music;
2216 ``always by your side`` promo, `Weekly Commentary` voiced by the
badax, ``penned`` by undecipherable name, now also heavy distortion,
something referring to history in the 90s: I give up trying to
understand it. 2224 `every hour` promo *again*. 2225 distorted music.
I`ve had it, over to `NBC Afternoonly News` on KFOR RF 27. Not
rechecked until 2256 when it`s already off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Re my report Sun Oct 1 at 2030, VOA French on
15185 // 15730 Grimesland, ``So the French Fpeaking have no equivalent
to Ms., just Mme and Mlle?``, Richard Langley, Nouveau-Brunswique [hi]
replies:

``Correct. In fact, these days, as I understand it, Mlle is deprecated
since women shouldn't be formally categorized in salutations as to
whether they are married or not; men aren't. The French government did
away with Mlle in addressing women in official correspondence in 2012.
All women are now addressed as Mme. Same goes for Canada. -- Richard
Langley``

And from Wolfgang Bueschel: ``USA / BOTSWANA / KUWAIT then VoA
