** MALI. Re: ORTM --- Glenn, I believe Mali remains active, provisionally. Big roaring noise blob on 5995 at 0728Z today, 8 April. At precisely 0800, it appeared on 9635, so clearly the same transmitter. Terry Krueger, FL (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)
** SAUDI ARABIA. 11935.000, April 8 at 1605, Qur`an, S9+20 into UTwente but undermodulated and with heavy ACI from S9+30 11940, CRI English via Kashi, std. denunciation, this hour only. By 1642, Arabic talk. LSB tuning of 11935 helps very little. Republic of Yemen Radio relay is still going, tho some have questioned whether any SA SW transmitters be on the air. 11940 off at 1657* and 11935 is still on but no modulation; 1658 bits of mod cutting on and off, 1659 Arabic stays on, and level improves, but no ToH ID heard. 1700 now there is ChiCom splattering from 11925 starting with timesignal. Aoki says CNR1 via Lingshi already on since 1200. 1730 mostly in clear with declamatory speech by one voice, occasional interruptions by a calmer voice (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sunday April 7 at 2200, VOT English is not off the air, VG S9+50 into UTwente, VG modulation, like a local. I start to pay attention after the news, TRT World promo, `Weekly Analysis` about the March 21 local elexions, how different parties fared, but doesn`t mean much to me without further background knowledge; bottom line: good news or bad for RTE? They don`t say. 2225 music. 2229 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo. 2230 `Letterbox`, but first usual host talks about his Ramadan: has lost 6 kg, was difficult at first. He also had to abstain from smoking and drinking Turkish coffee thrice a day. Almost over with Eid on Wednesday. Letters: from India wanting souvenir stuff, but sorry, only postal QSLs; reads report including program details from whenever, he should skip over now; apparently followed by another from same guy; one from England; Young Stars Radio Club in India. And from Ricky Hein - seems he has received and emailed reply to ten or fifteen of the same request asking for English schedule. Is he not getting them?? Exasperated, wants his postal address [from South Dakota]. 2245 time`s up, music. But outro for L`box only after the song at 2249. Then more music. 2253 s/off by the badax for the 1230 on 17620 only. Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2254 IS for a sesquiminute and off 2255.5*. No ChiCom genocidal understation any more like on ex-5960 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 400 MCW kHz, April 8 at 0704, AHQ, ND beacon at Wahoo, Nebraska, not new but seldom heard. The LW line noise level has abated somewhat, as I also hear some other peripheral regulars, SW, AM, MA, FBY, IC and more. Also 407, HRU in KS, but just as clearly tuned to 404 USB. The OG&E guys visited again about 1545 UT April 8. They have not been able to locate source of noise, in fact say it`s widespread over entire Garfield County! We agree that it has abated a lot on MW, as I set the DX-398 on 1100 kHz - no longer any noise thereunto, no matter how rotated. They have done nothing, so it could just as easily resurge, whereupon I will notify them. I still hear considerable noise on LW via the 100-foot longwire, and on MW. Hope not enough to block any imminent Eclipse MW DX, perhaps from Texas or Louisiana beyond the totality path (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2237 monitoring: confirmed Sunday April 7 at 2000 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.996 kHz, not on 207 or 918, S9+12/17 into nearby Noale SDR. UTwente agrees on the exact frequency, but much poorer now, too dusky? S8/S9 and with ACI. Also confirmed Sunday April 7 from 2131.2 on SW Radio, Germany, 6160.000, S9/+5 into UTwente but some dittering circa 6164; a word or two behind on // 3975.002, S9+10. Also confirmed UT Monday April 8 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, Louisiana & Durango2 SDRs offline, so I try Athens GA: S8/9+10; also S7/S8 roughly off the back into UTwente. Also confirmed UT Monday April 8 at 0300.0 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6159.930, S7/9+10 into NH SDR. Next: 1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW [off the sked, needs confirmation gone] 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 [new] 1200 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB 1230 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [previous #2236][SW suspended but still streamed?] 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160 As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated. Thanks this week to Michael Rosenbaum for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490v), Sun Apr 7 at 2256 UT, checking WBCQ stream as soon as Turkey is off: some classical music! Handel?, segué to `Easter Parade` song same as last week. And same confused announcement by YL, not Angela: Beginnning April 7, this 7-8 pm Sunday hour just heard is available airtime, stay tuned for the Plain Old Doug show at 9 pm Eastern. Well, 22-23 UT is 7-8 pm ADT not EDT! Guess what: website program guide still shows FTIOM/UBMP and two others at 22-23 and no sign of PODs later, or anywhen. Furthermore all the sked times are wrong labeled ``EST`` even tho they are four hours behind UTC, i.e. EDT. I continued listening past 23 to `Le Show`, as Harry is rerunning segments while he is busy making one more movie, but webcast, during last dekaminute keeps dropping off and back on as my Winamp goes wild (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. ``Squeal on WWCR --- probably an easy fix. Probably a bad capacitor in the exciter. The capacitors are used to prevent crosstalk from occurring on the DC bus. The DC bus usually feeds several circuits and these signals are getting mixed and that is what you're hearing. Will only worsen over time. Probably just a 50 cent capacitor. Transmitter would have to be shut down and exciter disassembled. They probably don't have a component level technician there that can do the work. And the manufacturer wants an arm and a leg to do a board swap! So that's why we're hearing a squeal. Lou KF4RCA Atlanta`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 891 kHz, April 8 at 0707 UT, het upon WLS. Rather late for Algiers, but what else could it be? 144 minutes after their sunrise 0523 today, per gaisma.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1743 UT April 8 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** CUBA. 11760, Sunday April 7 at 1501, RHC Esperanto overmodulated/distorted here at S9/+20 // 15140 S8/S9 but mod OK, canned s/on info with usual mispronunciations, and wrong sked still winter timings, claiming Sundays at 08 on 6100, 16 on 11760-only -- and a third time I never can copy, but I think on a 17 MHz frequency where RHC never appears.
