Glenn Hauser logs November 13, 2024  View Printable Version
Thursday, November 14 2024

Logs
** BRAZIL. 11780, Nov 13 at 0750, music VP S3, presumably RNA, which
both Aoki and EiBi say starts at *0750, altho EiBi, not Aoki shows
Iran could also be on 11780 now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAPAN. 13705, Nov 13 at 2305, NHK in listed Thai, S9+10 vs HNL, off
the back (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 11680V, Nov 13 at 2309, song S9+10/20 but very
distorted and frequency wobbling. KCBS Pyongyang as on here 22 hours
per day. Something`s kooky at Kanggye (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALI. 15125, Nov 13 at 1625, S5/S8 of ME music, listed as CRI
Arabic relay. One of few signals on band and by far the best beyond
USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Nov 13 at 2258, SNR not off the air, VG S9+20/30
direct and not yet // 12030 S9/+10. They do join at 2300 for English
when 17715 is also audible but nothing on 17755. Something`s not right
at Noblejas. Intro is about the flash flooding a biweek ago and the
blame game of which level of government failed with warnings in time.
Also interview with someone from Spain`s met agency about how climate
change is the cause, and bracing for more storms now in southern Spain
as well as Valencia. At 2323 check into UTwente, same 3 frequencies
only, about the 100th anniversary of broadcasting in Spain (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 13 at 2257 and 2312 chex direct, NO signal from
VOT English, but a JBA carrier on 9610, so the 2130-2230 frequency
overruning? NO, at 2322 into UTwente, 5960 in Chinese only and 9610
not in English nor Chinese: that would be Mongolian on CNR8 from
Beijing site. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glelnn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. 11645, Nov 13 at 2307 ``HARDtalk`` discussion in English
about a film by a British woman of Palestinian heritage, S9+10/20, as
in Alan Roe`s sked M/W/F via Tinang, PHILIPPINES. One of our best
chances to listen to BBCWS, during this hour only, per HFCC 250 kW at
200 degrees, so close to directly off the back USward (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2268 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees,
Hello Glenn: WRMI, World of Radio #2268, 9395 kHz, 0030, 0045, 0058
(55433-4), 0059, November 13 UTC 2024 [Wed] (Lemke, Richard -AB)``

Confirmed UT Wednesday November 13 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+25/35 into
Georgia SDR but NO signal into UTwente.

Also confirmed UT Wednesday November 13 from 0030.5 on SW Radio,
Germany, 3975.003-, S7 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday November 13 from 2030.8 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.002+, S9+5/10 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday November 13 at 2200 on WBCQ 7490 -48 Hz =
7489.952 into Maryland SDR correctly calibrated, so not as low as
usual, S9/+10. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975.

Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Re 9275 WMLK in AM not DRM, Nov 12 at 2304: ``As of late
they seem to be only doing a DRM 'hit' at roughly 2258 to 2300 UT on
9275. I haven't been able to coax any audio out of it, but have been
able to get a positive visual ID. My email to them two weeks ago has
gone unanswered. Apparently answering secular questions is not high on
their priority list. Not sure what the purpose of the DRM test they
are doing might be. Tony Pavick, Hope BC Canada``

And Wolfgang Bueschel replies: ``This DRM test decoding is -
supposedly - included in their Ampegon handling OPENING procedure on
their txion handling a personal computer procedure; similar as like an
opening start password necessity for. ed. df5sx password necessity
procedure failed 4 years too - on RTA Ampegon shortwave TX
installations at Bechar and Ou[a]rgla after 2018 year ... wb. ]``

15150 AM, Nov 13 at 1627, WMLK ID and DEJOM asserting that it`s not a
cult, in `Sacred Name Broadcast`, S9/+20 direct (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 7505, Nov 13 at 0742 UT, WRNO is on late, all-night? I
bandscan every nightmiddle and first time heard in months. S7/S8 in
presumed Hindi, but then pronouncing contact info in English, Fort
Worth 76101 postal address, and sounds like 7505abcd@gmail.com The
website http://wrnoworldwide.com/ now says ``Daily 8PM-8AM`` So is
this Tuesday or Wednesday? Sked on both days shows 12-3 AM music, with
Hindi only at 10-11 PM CST. Something`s fouled up at Fort Worth. Also
on disgraced FB, but would you believe the latest entry there was in
2020? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs November 12-13, 2024  View Printable Version
Wednesday, November 13 2024

Logs
** BELIZE. 28376 USB, Nov 12 at 2311, V31TL calling QRZ and working US
stations; also sounds like an American. Yes, QRZ.com: ``V31TL Belize
flag Belize, Thomas A "TOM" Linke, 8 Springsteen Ct, Stony Point, NY,
10980, USA --- I will be operating in Belize from Nov 5-8, 2024.
Mostly from POTA Parks, BZ-0057, Altun Ha Archeological Reserve and
BZ-0067 Community Baboon Sanctuary Wildlife Area. Using just 50W,
FT-891, battery and EFHW. Look for me on the POTA.app. I'll post
myself before heading out. Cell service is minimal here. From Nov
10-14, 2024 I will be on the ocean and heading to BZ-0075, Half Moon
Caye Marine Reserve and possibly BZ-0072 Turneffe Atoll Marine
Reserve. Definitely no cell service. I hope to find out why only 3 of
Belize's 79 parks have been activated`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 11460, Nov 12 at 2259, JBA AM signal seems talk, stronger
than 11529.9 Hikari FM, so maybe its second transmitter? No, EiBi &
Aoki show as CNR1 jammer and Sound of Hope channel (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** MEXICO. Re my unID carrier on approx 630.1 kHz, another report via
IRCA: ``Mexican on 630.090 kHz Tim Hall Nov 10 #51687

Does anyone know which Mexican station is operating at an offset of
630.090? (None are currently listed on mwlist.org).

In my sessions from the Nevada-Utah border at the end of October, I've
got a station on 630.090 running Mexican AC (the one song Soundhound
could identify was from 2020). This was at 0200 UT on 28 Oct 2024. I
don't have an audio clip to share, because no announcements were
heard, only music.

My wire was aimed at South Texas and Colombia (121 degrees), and the 4
surviving Mexican stations are well south of that (135, 136, 137 and
150), but the radio blackouts were starting to lift at this hour, and
stations from Mexico City and Guadalajara were suddenly starting to
come in on this wire even though it was aimed well north of them.  All
I've got going for me is that offset. 73 Tim P.S. Another station
(format unknown) had an offset of 630.021`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 17755, Nov 12 at 1925 into UTwente, African frequency of REE
is still absent, audible on 17715 for S America. If it`s Tuesday there
must not be English, but at 2258 check, N American frequency 9690 is
gone again! Something`s notright at Noblejas. Also no 17755, but still
on and audible are 12030 and 17715 not // (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR0

** TURKEY. 5960.016-, Tue Nov 12 at 2257, VOT IS and English IDs, not
off the air, but unusable in HNL at S9+10 direct. Into UTwente at 2332
when measured, S9+25/30 atop CCCCCCI ad Efsun the axentuated is
speaking about something. 2343 outro as `Weekly Commentary`,
``always-by-your-side`` promo, music. 2347 `Turkey`s Geomarked
Products`, Efsun again, something about ear-ring protexion against
evil-eye. 2350 music. 2353 ``always-by-your-side`` promo again! and
s/off as if 1330 on 13635: something`s always awry at Ankara. 2354 IS.
2356 restart IS with German IDs. 0000 Nov 13 timesignal and s/on
German. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. And the ChiCom QRM is
worsening. 0013 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 0015 music. 0019 still
on for `Warum?` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 11175 USB, Nov 12 at 2301, US military crypto message
underway fonetikaly starting with FV2S36RT...; quick check and hear //
on 15016, 8992, until ``Unify[?], out`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2268 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday
November 12 at 1408 the 1400 on WRMI 9955, JBA S7/S9 direct.

Also confirmed Tuesday November 12 at 1500 on WRMI 9955, S5/S7 JBA
direct but S9+20/25 into Georgia SDR.

Also confimred Tuesday November 12 at 2100 on IRRS via AM Italia,
1322.997+, S9 into UTwente but continuous beepery from 1321.1 -
receiver artifact or real? Following Wavescan. Next:

0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WTWW news about the 5085/9475 transmitter; with 7 photos, gh
will forward directly if anyone is interested:

``WTWW: transmitter #2 CAPACITOR REPLACEMENT Tue, Nov 12 at 5:03 AM --
WTWW had to replace a bad shorting capacitor in transmitter #2. This
required removal of the bad capacitor and removal of all supporting
copper brackets and replacement of the same. This was accomplished by
my son, John McClintock who did a good job as usual.

WTWW: plunger travel burned up on #2 transmitter Tue, Nov 12 at 5:20
AM -- The WTWW track that the plunger (shorts turns of the big coil to
change frequencies) travels on, burned up. WTWW had to take parts from
previous damage and repair the track so the plunger could continue to
travel on. Also, the shorting rings had to be replaced and melted
metal was drilled out. Then the shorting rings were put back into the
coil. George McClintock 11-11-2024`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 7570, Nov 12 at 2306, JBA carrier, no doubt VOK/KCBS,
KOREA NORTH, in continued absence of WRMI, which would have overlapped
this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15825, Tue Nov 12 at 2041, classical guitar music on WWCR-1!
Can hardly believe my ears. In afternoon I`m often seeking in vain
some good music on SW to nap by. Too good to last; at 2045 into `Old
Trailblazer` gospel huxter as sked for 2:45 pm but 1945 UT as program
sked is still on CDT instead of CST! Preceding at 2:30 was `Spiritual
Renaissance Broadcast` - maybe it were short or missing, tsk2 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9275 AM, Nov 12 at 2304, WMLK with hymn in AM, S9+20/30
direct, no DRM but which has been reported before during this hour
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6155, Nov 12 at 0745, JBA carrier, even weaker than
6160- WBCQ. Surely not Austria, ORF via ORS canceled. Likely KBSWR,
Korea South, warming up for Japanese at 0800-1000 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 26586 AM, Nov 12 at 2228 & 2256, 2-way in Spanish,
pileups, mentioned California; as if a regular CB channel (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs November 10-11, 2024  View Printable Version
Tuesday, November 12 2024

Logs
** NORTH AMERICA. 6925-, Nov 11 at 0358, S9+40 of SSTV beepery.
Nothing in HFU at this hour, but unID, earlier labeled Outhouse Radio,
6924.78 with SSTV images of several `other` stations:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,136648.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7475, Nov 11 at 0359, Station YHWH is S9 direct but
JBM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 11529.9, Nov 11 at 0406, Hikari FM at S9 with some
JBA talk. At 1542 JBA. Nothing audible now near 11420, but Rick Barton
had reported that second // frequency:

``HIKARI FM (p) 11/9 1610, 11420 (+/-) AM. Was fair at tune-in, but
signal deteriorated quickly at 1620. Faded out but back on Poor to
Fair with 1720 recheck. It was on this recheck we found the station is
// to the 11530 signal (which is much stronger). Heard on Drake SW1,
long wire. --- Fair - Poor Nov 9 +NOTE: As I was preparing to send out
this update (Nov. 10, 1730 UTC) the 11420 // had not been audible
until 1720 - very weak, but def there. 11530 is strong at this
writing. + We had first heard this station on 11/8, but stupidly
forgot to jot the fqy down. (Rick Barton, AZ)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Nov 11 at 2300, token English from SNR at S9+20/30
direct and sufficient. Previews topic to be analysis of US
presidential elexion, and right into that by 2302, skipping any news!
Not a serious international broadcaster with news so disposable. Guest
is some prof from DePaul?/DePauw? University, the now usual take that
Harris and Democrats did not appeal enough to the masses. Also //
12030 at S9/+10 and detectable on 17715 but not 17755, off? At 2356
checked Canary SDR while in French, three audible there, not 17755 for
Africa (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9610.018-, Sun Nov 10 at 2151, once again I`m
getting a headstart on the `Letterbox` from VOT English, good level
into UTwente but the CCCCCCI is worse than usual. After a
TRTVOTVorld.com promo, `L`box` starts again with the same non-Efsun YL
as one biweek ago, then maybe named Sylvia? She again gives address
awryly? as P O Box 33, not 333, but spells Yenisehir. {axually WRTH
2024 shows 33, so maybe previous hearing/seeing as 333 were wrong or
changed.} 1) Pakistan. 2) Manitoba?? 3) Port Alberni, Canada -- it`s a
huge country, so could you include the province? BC. Each wants a QSL
and that`s all besides mentioned date of report. Only 3? 2155 music
break already. 2159 not another mailer but into a long spiel about
Turkish Independence and Atatürk, still past 2203. Provoked by some
holiday/anniversary? No L`Box theme yet so still considered part of
that? With annoying reception, I quit.

5960, Sun Nov 10 at 2259 into UTwente, VOT IS and s/on as sked, only
program previewed is `Letterbox`. So I`ll check 2331 to hear if there
were more than 3 --- but now it`s OFF, nothing but the ChiCom. 9610 is
also occupied by a different ChiCom program. Something`s always
erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Nov 11 at 2302, VOT English not off the
air, S9+30 direct yet JBA/insuff vs noise level. Not got around to
checking UTwente until 2353 when it`s off, nothing but Chinese music
on 5960.003+. Had VOT just closed or was it gone much earlier? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2268 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
November 10 at 2000 on IRRS/NEXUS via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9 into
UTwente across Europe, after s/off of ``7290``.

Also confirmed Sunday November 10 at 2230 on SW Radio,Germany,
3975.003, S8/S9 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Sunday November 10 at 2337 the 2330 on WRMI 7780
instead of still silent but scheduled 7570, S9+15/20 into S TX SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 11 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9+10/22
into  S TX SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 11 at 0400.6 in Area 51 via WBCQ
6159.9, S9+10/20 but JBA direct, after JL ``Bye, y`all`` at 0400. At
0410 into NH SDR, 6159.93 at S5/S7.

Missed checking 2030 Mon Nov 11 on SWR 3975; anyone hear it? Next:

0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];

2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;

** U S A. 660 kHz, Nov 11 at 0403 UT, S9 C&W music, KTNN again on ND
day  pattern. I wonder how much QRM this cause closer to WFAN (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, Nov 11 at 0657, JBA carrier from presumed R. Vanuatu
a couple minutes before QSY as others report (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
