Texas Radio Shortwave returns its Janis Joplin Live program to the vault
after this weekend, and who knows when they’ll take it out again.

The last two chances to listen are on Sunday, October 24: 0100 UTC, 5950
kHz, on WRMI, and at 0200 UTC, 6160 kHz, on WBCQ.

Joplin was born in Port Arthur, Texas, in 1943 and rose to fame when she
performed with Big Brother & The Holding Company at the Monterrey Pop
Festival in 1967. She died in Hollywood of an accidental heroin overdose
in 1970 at age 27.

Texas Radio Shortwave will offer a special two-panel eQSL for correct
reception reports covering at least 20 minutes of the broadcast. In
addition to song titles and approximate text of announcements, reports
should contain comments on the program content.

This week's Programme - First broadcast this coming Saturday by Channel 292 - starts with the Miserere in C minor by Jan Dismas Zelenka, part of Bach's Goldberg variations, and some world music from Mali. After - more Zelenka - his Dixit Dominus, then two movements from A Downland Suite by John Ireland, and the 14th century Tre Fontane played on vielle and percussion. The programme ends with the Funeral March by Alkan, and part of the Saxophone Concerto in E Flat by Alexander Glazunov.
 
Channel 292 can be pulled live off the internet if the reception is poor in your location. Easy to find their site with a google search.

WRMI RELAYS DUTCH PIRATE STATION KR1 SUNDAY AT MIDNIGHT UTC ON 5950 KHZ  View Printable Version

WRMI airs a one-hour special featuring Dutch pirate KR1 at Midnight UTC
on Sunday (8 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 23).

KR1 is a Dutch pirate station on WRMI for the first time. KR1 will
feature rock and roll from the ‘50s and ‘60s. eQSLs will come directly
from the station at info@kr1.nl; TRSW won’t issue eQSLs for this program.

TRSW’s Europirate relays continue a week from Sunday at Midnight UTC
(Saturday at 8 p.m. ET) with an encore of pirate station Cupid Radio
from The Netherlands.

During November, WRMI relays three new stations and one encore:

November 7 = Radio Pamela International (UK)
November 14 = Radio Jingle Bells (Germany)
November 21 = Free Radio Service-Holland (The Netherlands) *
November 28 = The Vault (Somewhere in Europe).

On United Nations Day, Sunday October 24th, 2021, the unique and historical Alexanderson alternator in Grimeton Sweden, with call sign SAQ, is scheduled to send out a message to the whole world on 17.2 kHz CW.

Program and transmission schedule:
15:30 CET (13:30 UTC: Information about World Heritage Grimeton for visitors at the Visitor’s Center
16:00 CET (14:00 UTC): Transmitter Hall visit for visitors.

Transmission & YouTube Live stream:
16:25 CET (14:25 UTC): Live stream begins.
16:30 CET (14:30 UTC): Startup and tuning of the Alexanderson Alternator SAQ.
17:00 CET (15:00 UTC): Transmission of a message from SAQ.

YouTube Live Stream:
17:20 (15:20 UTC): Live music concert from the transmitter hall. More details to follow on our website.

We are proud to announce that this year’s message has been composed by the Swedish human rights lawyer and sustainability expert Ms. Parul Sharma.

Test transmissions
We are planning to carry our some test transmission on October 22nd, approximatley between 13:00 CET (11:00 UTC) and 16:00 CET (14:00 UTC).
