Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Jan 25 after 1600, no LRA36 signal
into Argentine SDR; nor any expected on Wed so not up to check at
1500. However, it seems they are going to continue on Saturdays only:

``[WOR] Antarctica. Special broadcast of 15476 LRA 36 announced for
next Jan 28 --- Adrián Korol, RAE, as I read it in Facebook, says that
LRA 36 next broadcast will take place on coming Saturday 28, at 12 LU,
1500 UT and then, rebroadcast at 16 LU, 1900 UT on 15476 khz USB.

Okay, I learned that it's happening to be difficult to put the signal
into Europe and North America, as they are only 500 W power, despite
the higher level of solar activity; but then, they there are. 73 de
Horacio Nigro, Uruguay, CX3BZ, Jan 24``

Manuel Méndez, Spain: ``Another WhatsApp received right now,
clarification of the previous one from the station:

"Este programa es solamente especial de verano, se emite los sábados a
las 12 horas de Argentina, con repetición a las 16 horas. En marzo
comenzaremos a emitir los primeros programas de la temporada anterior
[sic] y ahí sí que ya habrá programa los miércoles".

"This program is only a summer special, it is broadcast on Saturdays
at 1200 Argentinian time, with repetition at 1600. In March we will
begin to transmit the first programs of the previous [sic] season and
there will be program on Wednesdays."``

Sic: Previous/anterior? Old repeats? And are the interim Sat
broadcasts each new or repeats of Jan 21?? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 15775, Jan 25 at 0218, JBA carrier but slightly stronger
than 15770 WRMI: listed in Aoki & EiBi is CNR1 jamming and Sound of
Hope long hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13740, Jan 25 at 0220, RHC English is here, S9/+10! Instead
of 6165, and // 6000 which is S9+10/20. Also 2 x 6000 on 12000, JBA S9
at 0225. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11850, Jan 25 at 0224, RHC Spanish, S9+20 and as usual
suptorted, unlistenable, and as usual with JBA spur carriers on 11840
& 11860. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI [and non]. 846 kHz, Jan 25 at 0727, JBA carrier from R.
Kiribati; also one other detected on 855, most likely RNE Spain (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 255 MCW kHz, Jan 25 at 0738 UT, SW, NDB at StillWater is
off; otherwise until yesterday audible day and night. And it is
audible at 1910 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 90.1, KUCO-FM Edmond/OKC, has revamped its
schedule once again. Now on manager`s corner of website as of Jan 24:

``Presenting Evening Classics with Curt Timmons

Classical KUCO is excited to announce Evening Classics with Curt
Timmons, a two-hour, locally produced program presenting extended
selections from 10 p.m. to midnight each weeknight beginning Monday,
Jan. 23. In addition to his noon to 3 p.m. weekday hosting, our very
own Curt Timmons is graciously paving the way to offer beautiful,
complete pieces of music in a thematic and thoughtful presentation
blended with insightful commentary.

“I am excited to produce Evening Classics for our late-evening
listeners. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy favorite
masterworks and play some more unusual offerings from our KUCO library
and my personal collection,” Timmons said.

KUCO’s presentation of well-known orchestras will begin at 7 p.m., New
York Symphony Mondays; Chicago Symphony Tuesdays; The WFMT Orchestra
Series Wednesdays; Performance Oklahoma with Kimberly Powell
Thursdays; and, American Public Media’s SymphonyCast Fridays.

Performance Oklahoma, with Kimberly Powell, has moved Wednesday
evenings to Thursdays providing listeners, and even performers, who
attend church and choir the ability to enjoy the beautiful, local
performances numerous individuals work so hard to make happen.
Performance Oklahoma continues to encore at 8 a.m., Saturdays.

Following the orchestral programs at 9 p.m., will be The Sound of 13
Mondays; Gameplay Tuesdays; With Heart and Voice Wednesdays; Feminine
Fusion Thursdays; and, Hearts of Space Fridays.

According to Timmons, “Evening Classics will feature historic and
rarely heard recorded performances, which is a passion of mine as a
recording collector and musician. I hope our listeners will find some
old, as well as new favorites.”

Evening Classics with Curt Timmons aligns with the Classical KUCO
mission to present locally produced, long-format music to our
listening members as we strive to advance the appreciation of
classical music as Oklahoma’s Voice for the Performing Arts.

Classical KUCO is community-supported outreach of the University of
Central Oklahoma and can be heard on 90.1FM/HD1 throughout central
Oklahoma, 91.9FM/HD1 in McAlester, 95.9FM in Woodward and streamed on
kucofm.com, iHeart, Amazon Alexa devices, Bose’s SoundTouch network,
and mobile devices with the free Classical KUCO app at GooglePlay and
the Apple App Store.``

Skedgrid has been updated as above, all times CST = UT -6:
https://www.kucofm.com/programs/program-schedule-grid/

Still unaccounted for are `module` programs, notably StarDate, so I
ask GM Jeff Hagy: he says it`s straight-up noon M-F; and a brand-new
website is about ready to launch next week: http://www.kucofm.com

Meanwhile I have been seeking StarDate elsewhere:
Features On Texarkana Public Radio: own website claims:
Stardate - Daily 11:04 A.M. & 7:00 P.M.
http://ktxkweb.texarkanacollege.edu:8000/listen.pls
but FAILS to appear at or around 7 pm = 0100 UT Jan 24. Then, Manager
thanked me for noticing and restored it UT Jan 25 (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)

** ROMANIA. 7410 // 5990, UT Wed Jan 25 at 0237-0248, both S9+20 with
Romanian folk music, French announcements, matching Alan Roe`s Music
on SW schedule, ``Musique traditionnelle roumaine`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Jan 25 at 2306, token English from REE after COVID
stats on news, into part 2 of last week`s feature on `El camino del
Anillo``, Tolkien stuff not interesting me; over to simulTurkey. But
first quick check of //s: 9690 S9+10/25 into Maryland SDR > 12030 >
11940 all usable, and still NO 11670 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.001+, Jan 25 at 2308, VOT English S9+25/35
into UTwente, final news item about excavations at Luxor, Egypt; 2309
`Review of the Turkish Press`` a few brief headlines starting with:
Erdogan blasts Netherlands for disrespecting a Qur`an book. [Why does
he blame entire NATO allies or applicants for axions of some isolated
radicals in free societies? I hereby permit Turx to burn as many
Bibles as they may wish: there are plenty more -gh]. 2310 the CCCCCCI
starts underneath from XJPBS, East Turkistan, land of imperialist
ChiCom genocide against Uyghurs and other Moslems: does Erdogan care
about that?

2311 multi-lingual ID filler reel including some langs not for VOT on
SW in WRTH 2022: Albanian, Japanese, Portuguese; no doubt there are
more. 2313 `Gripping[?] Files` something about digital security
involving Meta/FB/Habitat NGO; CCCCCCI is at worse N/S ratio now. 2317
songs. 2324 `Weekly Commentary`, same one heard before about
``Turkey`s role in Western security considerations - why Turkey is
indispensable``. 2331 music. 2337 `Feeling Supreme` a.k.a. `Healing
Spring` on herbal remedies for constipation in children. 2346 recheck
already in music again. 2353 s/off with English skeds in jumbled
order. 2355 IS; 2356 cut off uncovering XJPBS, S8/9+5 on 5960.000+
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 395 MCW kHz, Jan 25 at 0735 UT, CA, 25-watt ND beacon at
Newton / Harvs KS; and:

407 MCW kHz, Jan 25 at 0735 UT, HRU, 25-watt NDB at Herington KS: both
JBA but first time in months I have been able to relog these
semi-locals, as the local noise peak around 395 has diminished altho
slightly more than otherwise. Maybe due to snowcover? And maybe only
temporary; or neighbors going and coming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2174 monitoring. Did anyone hear it Wed Jan
25 at 1030 on WRMI 5850? Deleted from sked but another report of it
still on a week ago:

``5850 UNITED STATES WRMI at 1030. World of Radio broadcast, armchair
on Sangean and indoor wire -- Excellent Jan. 18 Rick Barton-AZ``

Confirmed Wednesday January 25 at 2200+ on WBCQ 7490 minus 63 Hz into
Missouri SDR = 7489.937, S9/+15. next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

** U S A. 7495-7545 approx., Jan 25 at 0234, noise field extending out
+/- 25 kHz from 7520, so I am tempted to blame it on the WWCR-4
transmitter with overpowering signal, S9+40/50 of TOMBS, which is
perhaps partly to blame for dirty satellite audio feed out of
Walterboro during Scourby Bibling. There are also various audio
artefacts within 10 kHz of 7520 which is typical of TOMBS, despite the
rather lo-fi audio if tuned to center frequency and avoiding the
extended sidebands. WWCR et al. ought to filter out that feed! #4 is
on 90-degree rhombic, but I bet it put as much signal off the back
thisaway. Need to have a look at a waterfall in the blast zone between
00 and 03 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9338, Jan 25 at 0749, very rapid RTTY not noticed before,
too close to hugesig from 9330v WBCQ, not enough to bother WBCQ but
vice versa? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. At first: UNIDENTIFIED. 12050, Jan 25 at 0226, S9/+10 with
flutter, JBA can`t make out language. Nothing supposed to be on now;
could it be WEWN extending its daytime-only Spanish service past 2400
here, since 5970 night frequency has been off for months, inoperable?
CNR1 jammer shown at very different times in EiBi. Indeed, next
evening UT Jan 26 at 0015, strong gospel huxter in Spanish still going
on 12050. Own website is no help: still showing outdated A22 skeds
with CDT/UTC, as if 24 hpd in Spanish, 18 hpd in English, long gone:
https://www.ewtn.com/radio/frequency-guide
Not even the Spanish sexion has any details about SW:
https://www.ewtn.com/es/radio
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1700 kHz, Jan 25 at 0346 UT, dead air atop 2 or 3 other
signals. Bet I know which it is, but DF it on the DX-398: yes,
slightly CCW from N/S, i.e. toward The Metroplex, KKLF Richardson TX.
#2 on 1700 is KBGG Des Moines IA, with the others in AL, FL, NY and
RGV TX maybe audible but blocked. The Jalapeño is silent. 0726
recheck: TexMexmx resumed, Jalapeño ID in passing (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890 & 11835, Jan 25 at 0743, R. Vanuatu harmonix of 3945
are both JBA carriers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 13755, Jan 24 at 0740, RNZP is S6/9+10 with
``Melanesian Update`` in Pidgin, mentions Vanuatu. Would be the OSOB
if not for JBA on 13860, so it`s the SSOB. 13860 is NHK Japanese
direct to S America from 0700. That`s 4 am local at the latest, as
the JJ migrants must be real early-risers? Sked for Tue in NZ DST
UT+13:

``8:28 PM. Melanesian Update includes Pidgin News from Koroi Hawkins
followed by BuzzFM News from our partners in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

9:00 PM. ABC Wantok Program -- 30 minutes of news and current affairs
from ABC Australia from Monday to Friday in Papua New Guinea Tok
Pisin, Solomon Islands Pijin and Vanuatu Bislama pidgin languages``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 15385, Jan 24 at 1623, S5/S7 of talk with heavy Doppler
flutter unlike other weak signals on band. Only thing anywhen on 15385
in Aoki & EiBi is IRRS with Oromia National Media, clandestine for
Ethiopia, on M/T/W/F/S at 1600-1630 via Galbeni. Maybe longpath?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 13710.056, Jan 24 at 1628, Qur`an, SBA always
sorethumbly off-frequency on my morning bandscans but not measured for
longtime until now; 1657 checked at UTwente, AMsync shows 13710.051+,
S9+40/50! Some long pregnant pause at 1658 but still going at 1753;
scheduled 1457-1757 via Riyadh, but really chopped off abruptly at
1758* during Qur`an with no announcement; Allah`ll get `em for that?

There had been a het before, and now am hearing a tone at same pitch
locked onto 13710.314+, what? No other broadcaster sked now on 13710.
2205 & 2305 rechex, *still* S9 carrier on that exact frequency with
tone. Maybe something local at the SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.003+, 2305 Jan 24, VOT S9+25/35 into UTwente,
good modulation with a bit of hum during news; 2306 something about
the Qur`an threatened by fascism? 2309 sports about a Russian/American
tennis match, and others in Australia. 2310 CCCCCCI starts from XJPBS,
but way under. 2313 Review of the Tuerkiyish Press. Qur`an incident in
Sweden, Erdogan uses it to diminish NATO chances; and a few other
brief items, over at 2315 already, to song break. 2318 Weekly
Commentary: on Turkey`s rôle in western security considerations, by
Duke Coffee?, of a DC think-tank, axually about Black Sea region and
the Russia/Ukraine war; cooperation in drone produxion between
Tuerkiye and Ukraine. Bottom line: Turkey is important! 2325
multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2328 song. 2332 VOT: ``always by your
side``, a rather meaningless claim, and more music. 2336 a recipe.
2339 violin music. And more music until 2352 sign-off announcement
starts --- but chopped off the air after only a few words, uncovering
XJPBS on 5960.000+. Beware: UTwente kept displaying 5960.003 from VOT
until refreshed. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2174 monitoring: confirmed UT
Tuesday January 24 at 0158, just in time, the 0130 on WRMI 9395,

Jan 24 reconfirmed times on Unique Radio, other one is Sunday at 0800;
I also see that Sun at 0830 is TBA instead of International Radio
Report; but still companion to WOR, Wed at 1030 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 9330v, Jan 24 at 1927, WLCR/WBCQ-6 is off again. Wonder
what`s wrong now? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890, Jan 24 at 0734, JBA carrier; 11835 JBA modulation;
3945 nothing as I finally check all three R. Vanuatu frequencies for
the price of one (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7550 AM, Jan 24 at 0733, JBA heavy beat as if music, but
nothing in EiBi or Aoki now; elsewhen 7550 is only a Uzbekistan relay
channel (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ALGERIA. 17600, Jan 23 circa 1605, Qur`an from TDA. It seems the
new SWBCs are mostly if not totally Qur`aning, violating Separation of
Mosque and State; huh? Algeria is 98% Sunni and it`s the state
religion altho there is supposedly religious freedom otherwise. But
not officially named an ``Islamic Republic`` like several others; why
not? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 860, Jan 23 at 0735 UT, French Canadian atop KKOW and
anything else, presumably CJBC Toronto, of CBC/SRC`s ``Ici Première``
network; 1610 clear channel is always dominated by CHHA Toronto; but
740 now is still dom. by KRMG, not CFZM which can sometimes overcome.
However, on 860 there is one other CBC French on same network, CBKF-2
Saskatoon. It`s 10/10 kW U4, while CJBC is 50/50 kW U1; but SK
supposedly is direxional north both day and night. Saskatoon is only
73 miles further from Enid than Toronto (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA [and non]. 28197 CW, Jan 23 at 2314, VE7MTY/B, with 4
step/down/bips. This one in BC is getting to be very common, and don`t
always log it. Many other 10m beacons on band, I really don`t have
time to chase down and log in detail. Hearing some outside N America
would be neater.

28300 CW, Jan 23 at 2315, K6FRC/B is another regular, from California,
related to the same call in 13 MHz HIFER ISM band without the /B
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Jan 23 at 0747, S9+30 of dead air, obviously RHC
forgot to turn off much earlier, while all 6 MHz channels are gone.
Ivo Ivanov says on this date, 11760 went from Spanish to English at
0558, still English at 0659. Yes, 11760, not 11670 which has also been
caught on late in English. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Jan 23 at 1603, RHC is OFF one frequency which is
supposed to stay on all day; while 15230 is still on at S5/S7:
confused which transmitter to turn off? But by 1611, 15230 is also
off; leaving only 11760. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** INTERNATIONAL VACUUM [non]. Pleased to find another chance to hear
`StarDate`, daily at 1831 UT on ``QXFM`` = KZQX-LP, Kilgore TX, via:
https://chalkhillcommunications.com/
Confirmed Jan 23, but not checked yet other listed times, daily 1340 &
2340 UT. Some states have zero or only one affiliate, but lots of TX:
https://stardate.org/radio/affiliates/TX
All times CST = UT -6 since none in El Paso. I still have not run
across it in random listening to KUCO since their programming got
jumbled. Brief ``module`` programs are most likely to be plugged in at
ToH news holes lacking any BBC news (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Jan 23 at 2307, token English from REE, after
news, marimba music and something about Guatemala. Altho S9+10/25 on
the meter, too much fading and noise for it to be worth listening as I
am not near the computer for changing to an east-coast remote. 11940 &
12030 also audible but no better, and still no signal on 11670.
Something`s incomplete at Noblejas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.003+, Jan 23 at 2301, VOT is S5/S9 direct
but undermodulated with hum, unusable; at 2330 I try UTwente where
it`s exactifrequed, S9+35/40, and OK with volumes turned up almost to
max. 2335-2338, `Did You Know That`, about old olive trees at
Mynos(?); also with the CCCCCCI. Something`s erroneous at Emirler.
It`s off before 2400 showing XJPBS also on +003 Hz (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. Re 9265VVV, WINB wobbling: ``Glenn, regarding WINB: The
wobbly transmitter is almost certainly the (very) old Continental
417B, as an ASI CE-50000WS is used for the DRM/datacasting service, as
described on the FCC station authorization.

What is ASI? Info here: ASI - Amplifier Systems, Inc. ampsystems.com

ASI makes RF generating equipment for industrial, scientific, and
research purposes, as well as communication/broadcasting. I had never
heard of them before WINB purchased one of their transmitters a few
years ago. Some of the FCC applications for other potential
datacasters mention transmitters from companies I am otherwise
unfamiliar with. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas``

OK, but it seems WINB never broadcasts in AM and DRM at same time on
two frequencies, implying a single transmitter. Rather maybe it`s a
single antenna or feedline. Another check at 1920 January 23 into
Missouri SDR: SAM keeps jumping around between minus 5 and 22 Hz,
audibly there is popping; and behold the irregular waterfall, zoom in
upon it. Recheck circa 2300, wobbling not so bad but still worse than
``normal`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890, Jan 23 at 0746, R. Vanuatu in JBA music and talk;
11835 at 0748 achieves S5/S7 during talk probably Bislama. Both
harmonix of 3945 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ALGERIA. 9500, Jan 23 at 0144, Qur`an at S7/S9. EiBi shows Béchar
at 00-06. 15410 log, see CUBA [and non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 13680, Sunday January 22 at 2132, no signal from
RHC in Esperanto or any other languages altho had been caught here
weeks ago by Ivo Ivanov. Since then he found it on 15140, and that`s
also where I myself also now confirm it rather than the claimed 2330
on 15730 - altho I have not tried to unconfirm it then and there.
Sunday afternoon is supposed to be the second repeat = third airing,
and I`ve already gone over the errors about the first two. Now it`s
S5/S7, after RHC ID and IS from 2130 or 2131. 15140 supposedly quits
other days at 2130 after French. Makes better sense to extend it for a
weekly broadcast rather than pre-empt some other language as would
have been done at 2330. Something`s always wrong at RHC - not this,
but continuing not to announce the real time and frequency.

15140 is among very few signals on 19m now at 2142 Jan 22: just USAs
on 15555-USB, 15770 and 15825, nothing extracontinental except JBA
carrier on 15410, which would be Ouargla, ALGERIA (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 90.1, sometime during the first hour of APM`s
`Performance Today` in the 21-22 UT hour Jan 22 via KUCO, host Fred
Child, who always conveys a sense of wonder and awe with every
announcement, mispronounces Galánta, as in Dances of Galánta by Zoltán
Kodály. He sees the acute accent on the middle A and figures that
means stress-it. But NO, not in Hungarian!

Sesquidecades ago I took R. Budapest`s language course, and somewhere
still have the literature; did not learn much vocabulary, but sure did
learn the fonetix, which comes in handy if you be a classical music
announcer. The accents on Hungarian words indicate the sound of the
vowel, not the stress. Let me quote something just found on the web:

``If you started to learn Hungarian, you already know that Hungarian
words are stressed in the first syllable. This is true until we
pronounce single words no matter how long they are: ég, kalap,
kerítés, olvasandó, kiszámíthatatlan. together. The words in a
sentence are not sliced up when we talk.``

Galánta is a small city now in Slovakia, formerly in Hungary. That`s
the way the Hungarians spell it. A, with no accent, means it`s
pronounced more like ``aw``. With accent, like ``ah``. Therefore:
GAW-lahn-taw, NOT gah-LAHN-tah! Note that composer Kodály is also
stressed initially, not penultimately as too often heard from
otherwise erudite? announcers, who have not bothered to learn the
fonetik schemes of languages they need to pronounce.

It seems the Slovax dispense with the accent but still have to stress
initial: ``In Slovak language the primary word stress is fixed on the
first syllable. The secondary word stress occurs in words with more
than 4 syllables and is fixed on the penultimate syllable. Czech and
Slovak both have a fixed stress placement on the first syllable of the
word.``

While I`m at it, some more L.L.: In proper Hungarian, surnames come
first, e.g. Bartók Béla; but even they seem not to insist upon it to
the rest of the world and those who do it `backwards` may be taken as
pedantic. BTW, those accents mean proper pronunciation is BORE-toke
BAY-law, not ``BAY-lah BAHR-tahk``. At least in this case, no one
seems inclined to stress -tók. Don`t we owe it as a courtesy to make
some effort to pronounce people`s names correctly, especially in
broadcasts?

In Hungarian the letter S, alone, is pronounced SH; while to pronounce
plain S, it`s spelt SZ. Contrary to Polish, where SZ is pronounced SH.
Further: ``Polish is a language with a fixed stress system with
primary stress on the penultimate syllable as a default (Wierzchowska,
1971; Comrie, 1976; Hayes, 1995), irrespective of the morphological
composition of a word.`` There`s a lot more complicated phonology and
orthography in Polish.

Another oddity at KUCO: `Wind & Rhythm`, ``for those who love band
music``, UT Mon Jan 23 at 0200 on 90.1 is playing Xmasmx! Obviously
intended for broadcast in 2022y as mentions someone who died ``earlier
this year`. Surely at least four more episodes have been produced and
availablized since December. Not so petty peeve: Xmasmx VERY overdone
in December if not November, but ignored the rest of the year. Why not
play some Xmasmx in March, or August for a change?? and something else
part of the time during The Season. WWJD? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 5950, UT Mon Jan 23 at 0300, `Encore` via WRMI,
S9/+15 into Athens GA SDR: the same episode heard 26 hours earlier on
5850, but now the Playlist dated 21/1 has been corrected to match the
music we are hearing. BTW I am also hearing bit of pulse jamming
bleeding over from 5955 against nothing; and meant to mention last
night that there were also traces of Cuban jamming on 5850, where
there is absolutely no excuse for it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.016, Sun Jan 22 at 2346, checking UTwente
whether VOT is not AWOL today? Yes, it`s not, S9+25/35 into UTwente
with somewhat undermod music; 2351 multi-lingual ID reel filler vs
CCCCCCI; 2352 s/off by OM instead of usual YL, not with full English
sked but as if this were the 1330 on 12035; a bit of IS until 2353*
uncovering EAST TURKISTAN. Note exact frequency offsets. VOT often +16
Hz but sometimes +2 Hz, different units? Once off, EAST TURKISTAN
Chinese but seems also with a third carrier displaying as 5960.012,
but that soon goes off leaving Xinjiang PBS as exactly .000 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2174 monitoring: Also confirmed
Sunday January 22 at 2100 on IRRS SW via AM Italia on 1323 kHz only,
S9+3/12 into Parma SDR, as the closest at Noale is too busy. Back on
Friday at 2130, besides Noale, 918 & 1323 were also somewhat audible
at UTwente in Holland.

Also confirmed UT Monday January 23 at 0058 just in time the 0030 on
WRMI 7730, S7/9+5 into Louisiana SDR. So also missed checking whether
the noise blast still covered the first 14 seconds, but bet it did.

Also confirmed from 0401 UT Monday January 23 on WBCQ Area 51, 6160
minus 63 Hz = 6159.937 into Maryland SDR, S6/S8 with inescapable ACI
de 6165 Cuba. Next:

0130 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW [canceled?]
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

** U S A. 15770, Sun Jan 22 at 2248, just as there was an anomaly on
WRMI Saturday during this semihour, so today `Wavescan` is on System H
15770 only, with not // music on 5850, and nothing on imaginary 7730.
WS is part of a talk about WEWN by Jerry Plummer at the 2022 NASB
meeting, shortly before he died unexpectedly: always amazed me how a
PhD would still sound like a hick. And still certainly no R. Tirana as
elsewhere on sked. However these three(?) are now shown as `World
Radio Network` at 2230-2300 on Mon-Thu; so what, pray tell, would that
be?

NAm program schedule for B22 shows, confusingly, not meshing with
WRMI:
22:00 One Decision (Sun)
22:00 Deutsche Welle (Mon-Fri)
22:00 Deutsche Welle (Sat)
22:30:00 Banns Radio International: Copenhagen Calling (Sat)
i.e. without explicitly specifying durations, the 2200 programs would
be one hour long except on Sat (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Jan 22 at 2252, no signal from this WRMI, just pulse
jamming against nothing. Skedgrid shows 9955 supposed to resume from
System B Internet only at 2200 with on Sunday a gospel huxter. Not
propagation, as 9395 & 9455 are inbooming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, Jan 22 at 2135, WLCR/WBCQ-6 is back on in English but
quite weak S7/S9. Allan has admitted they sometimes power down from
500 to 100 kW, but sounds even less and/or way offbeam to us (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9265VVV, Jan 22 at 2134, WINB is JBM, S9 with terrible rapid
wobble in frequency, much worse than usual. Most obvious with BFO of
course, but also in AM reception. By 2256, modulation level of gospel
huxter is OK but still superwobble. Still so at 0143 recheck Jan 23.
Is that old transmitter about to explode? Something`s wreally wrong at
Red Lion! If same unit, wonder how that would affect DRM (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1521 kHz, Jan 23 at 0147, JBA het against 1520 KOKC: the
only 9/kHz split audible in a full MW bandscan. Once upon a time would
have been easy to assume the 2000 kW from NW Sa`udi Arabia, but sked
long since curtailed to 1500-2230. There`s another hugie, 500 kW of
Russian from CRI Urumqi, East Turkistan, which is scheduled until
0200, and should still be darkness path. So then I check what UTwente
is getting: Spanish! That would be one 5 kW SER. Would think it should
hear some CRI unless maybe unfavorably direxional, but all unlikely to
deep North America. One other possibility: a domestic spoiler 1 kHz
off-frequency; which IIRC was suspected or IDed some years ago (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA [non?]. 4940, Jan 22 after 0700, Spanish gospel huxter for
and probably from VENEZUELA is back with JBA signal, after missing
last night. Others were also hearing it earlier this evening (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. All RHC frequencies are OFF by 0709 Jan 22, and so is
Rebelde: 5025, 5040, 6000, 6060, 6100, 6165, 10050, 10080, 11670
vacant. Something`s always wrong at RHC, RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 13668 & 13812 approx, Jan 22 at 1553, huge dirty FMish RHC
music spurblobs at S6/S8, with F# tone. As soon as I hit the lower one
bandscanning upward, I know that the fundamental must be wrong 13740
instead of 13700 whence morning spurblobs usually emanate. 13668 is
approx. peak of the mess but in FM mode it covers 20 kHz, 13660-13680.
However, no second-orders detected at plus/minus 144 kHz from 13740.

They all remain on air past 1606, including 1602 late opening of
weekly Esperanto // 11760 and 15140. Preceding Spanish is running
late: 1600 headlines, 1601 canned IS & ID claiming to continue until
1900 only on 11760 & 15140 & FM; 1602 start Esp`o, including canned
sign-on with all-wrong schedule at 1606: Sundays 0800 on 6100 despite
all 6 MHz frequencies gone much earlier; 1600 on 11760 - only despite
addition of 15140 years ago; 2330 on 15730, but really heard at 2130
on 13680, 15140 or somewhere. Somethings` always multiply wrong at
RHC. Esperanto service remains clueless about its own true schedule,
and keeps misstressing words like Ameriko (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EUROPE. 21460 AM, Jan 22 at 1729, JBA carrier, tnx to many reports
on the WOR iog of Cupid Radio, Dutch pirate being heard in NAm,
starting with Andy Robins in SW Michigan at 1605. Lucas Bandura says
it went off at 1754* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. 15355, Jan 22 at 1935, S7/S9 of dead air from AWR in
Ibo/Igbo, again. Is anyone paying attention at least for a refund or
make-good? How about all the Nigerians pining to become 7DAs?
Something`s terribly wrong at Talata (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925 USB, Jan 21 at 2323, pirate music at S7. A few
minutes later, some IDs as WAVE Radio, per:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,108497.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6880 USB, Jan 21 at 2324, sounds like a 2-way QSO,
at equal levels, talking about the Springfield, Mass. Armory station,
the TIS on 1710 kHz. Federal government stations are not licensed by
FCC, but NTIA. He had to file a FOIA request, and got a CDROM of such
stations. What`s this? These say Mix Radio International but at this
time carrying Andrew Yoder`s Hobby Radio show #3, interviewing Chris
Smolinski:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 5850, UT Sunday January 22 at 0100, `Encore`
classical music on WRMI is good into Missouri SDR, starting with a
harpsichord Gavotte by Rameau -- which does not match the start of
either Playlist on website dated Jan 14 & 21. So it`s ``wrong``
episode or PLs are wrong. Enjoyable hour, anyway. Brice is looking
into sorting this out. What will we hear and see at next emission, UT
Monday at 0300 on 5950? BTW, // 7730 at 0100 remains imaginary, but
will be all set if and when it`s ever restored (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 21 at 2327, VOT with quite a good signal direct,
S9/+20, but JBM music below big hum! Something`s always erroneous at
Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2174 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
January 21 at 2230 on WRMI 15770, S9/S7 and better than noisy 5850
also reading S7/S9 -- BUT WOR is NOT on 5850, rather unID music show
or fill. This time only started recently. WRMI skedgrid for System H
still claims WOR on both plus imaginary 7730! However,
frequency/transmission sked atop shows Radio Tirana on all three, but
that has not been so for some? time, and those labels do not
necessarily apply to 7 days per week. It seems almost every week there
is some change without notice to WOR via WRMI.

Also confirmed 0030 UT Sunday January 22 on WRMI 7780, S7/S9 into
Maryland SDR, S9/+10 VG into Louisiana.

Also confirmed from 0411 UT Sunday January 22 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO,
VG S9+20 into nearby SDR on groundwave but some lightning crashes
audible, nearest/only storms around New Orleans into Mississippi.
Starting slightly early, despite previous airing 50 minutes late in
afternoon. Next:

2100 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW
0400vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW
0130 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW [canceled?]

** U S A. 15770, Sun Jan 22 at 1933, dead air at S7/S9 from WRMI --
no, there is some JBM I can recognize as Wagner, so probably the
`Music & Medicine` show. Something`s odd at Okeechobee (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, Jan 22 at 1937, no signal from WLCR/WBCQ-6. Wonder
what`s the matter now; it was on last night, and off-frequency-minus
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU [and non]. 7890, Jan 22 at 0659, JBA carrier presumed R.
Vanuatu, 2 x 3945. Did not tune early enough to tell whether just
changed from 7260, or already here earlier. However, 11835 = 3 x 3945
hits S7/S9 with music past 0701, just about best ever here; 0703.8 ID
and more talk, news? Unfortunately it`s still unreadable. NZ 13755 is
VG S9+10/30. MUF/propagation at this hour remains severely variable
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
