Hauser
** ALASKA. HAARP is very busy now. Amanda Dawn Christie has a new art
project, Ghosts in the Air Glow, explained here:
https://ghostsintheairglow.space/transmission/october-2022

``Ghosts in the Air Glow: is a transmission art project working with
the HAARP Ionospheric Research Instrument to mix audio and images at
the liminal boundaries of earth’s atmosphere and outer space.
Composition No. 2 is a half hour transmission artwork that will be
transmitted four times from the HAARP Ionospheric Research Instrument
during the October 2022 research campaign. Air glow and Luxembourg
experiments will be paired with the AM modulation of Narrow Band
Television (NBTV) video art, spoken word, and sound art created by
Amanda Dawn Christie``

I monitor the first one for 0600-0630 UT Oct 23, mainly via:
https://ghostsintheairglow.space/
These two YT streams depend on someone else`s tuning on the ground at
Gakona, not necessarily coinciding with exactly what is transmitted.

Here`s how I attempted to log those; first, the one on the left:
0600 4850, 0604 4850 off, change to 3300; 0612 back to 4850; 0615 to
5400; 0617 4850; 0618 off, to 5400; 0622 off, to 4800 vs CODAR, error?
0623 to 4774.098 tuning around; 0624 on 5400, 0628 off, to 4850,
0629.7* all off.

The right one: 0600 5400, 0606 9500, 0612 4850, 0615 4800, 0617 4850,
0627 4845?, 0628 4850.

Those do not match exactly the tentative frequencies on the page:
4.85, 5.84, 9.5, 3.3 MHz.

9500, Oct 23 at 0608 is the only frequency I hear direct, carrier at
quick check. Nothing audible on the lower ones.

As for the content: audio: mostly noise, but musical intervals,
including singing, presumably ADC herself. Nothing recognizable until
the final tune I was trying to place. Eric Fetters-Walp in WA does:
``To my ears, that final tune at 0628 UTC sounded very much like a
version of "Hush Little Baby (Mama's Gonna Buy You a Mockingbird."``

The right one only has a visual display of rapidly changing blocks at
various scales of gray, which seems to be continuous regardless of
frequency changes. I guess this is the ``art``, but certainly conveys
no information, to me.

Further airings are Oct 24 at 0600-0630; 25 & 26 at 1630-1700 UT.
However, some of the times during the latter are outside, typos??
HAARP website showed 0530-0600 for the first one, obviously wrong, as
there was also a countdown clock leading to 06:00:00.

You would not know it from ADC`s publicity, but this is only one part
of extensive HAARP experiments now underway:
https://www.gi.alaska.edu/news/haarp-begin-largest-set-experiments-its-new-observatory

That page has no details of times and frequencies. A more explicit
press release has appeared in the WOR iog and also here:
http://www.arrl.org/files/file/News/ARRL%20Letter/2022-10-20/HAARP%20Transmission%20Schedule%20October%202022.pdf
Without specialized scientific equipment, we cannot make anything out
of the results, so look forward to official explanations.

One frequency listed for 22-24 UT Oct 22 was 9600, but I heard nothing
at 2315/2330 into KFS remotes. Walt Salmaniw, BC, did hear something
there later. Tnx to Richard Langley for alerting us about ADC`s opus
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5040, 6000, 6060, 6100, 6165, 11670, 11760, Sunday October 23
at 0703, all RHC frequencies are off when weekly Esperanto would
otherwise emit. I do hear it at 1503, S7/S9 on 15140 and much better
on S7/S9 11760, still claiming that the first airing be at 0800. In
another biweek, that time at least will again be correct. Something`s
always wrong at RHC. 5025 Rebelde also still AWOL at 0702 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAPAN. 9615, Oct 23 at 0706, medley of classic rock tunes, Japanese
announcements, S7/S9. Yes, it`s NHK direct at 0655-0900 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Oct 23 at 0657, no JBA carrier from R.
Kiribati, presumably another silent Sunday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Oct 23 at 0658, no signal from VON. Nor at 1830
into Alicante, Spain SDR altho Dan Robinson is listening to some
Europirate on 6931+. Canary Islands SDR which I always check first,
was tied up by its German ham (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Oct 23 at 1507, No signal direct from REE NAm
frequency by when it should be on, weekends. Leaves us with offtheback
from 15520 to ME, and too weak 11940 for SAm. Something`s always
nogood at Noblejas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830.021, Oct 22 at 2223, VOT at S9+45 into UTwente, OK
modulation except for some hum, concluding feature sounding like
``Gripping Piles`` -- am fairly sure neither word be correct, but tnx
to her heavy accent, and impossible to find any English program sked
on website. https://www.trtworld.com/ --- a few years ago, VOT RADIO
on SW was merged into the mainly TV website, and now there is a blank
space on WOR HITLIST for English programming. Apparently the only
radio programming it displays is for Tuerkiyeish language. 2229
multi-lingual ID filler reel; off at 2254*. Something`s awry at Ankara
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. 11930, Oct 23 at 0700, JBA carrier amid Cuban jamming,
surely not R. Martí at this hour: Aoki shows BBC French via ASCENSION
daily at 0700-0730: another frequency management failure, not avoiding
this frequency like the plague, since Cuba will jam it whether RM be
on it or not. I see others blithely using 11930 even when both RM and
jamming are on it: Turkey, Sa`udi Arabia. Yes, their circuits and
targets may be diverse, but why risk co-channel to a radio war? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2161 monitoring: continued from
last report: the unscheduled appearance Saturday October 22 at 1814 on
IRRS 7290 & 1323: indeed it was a fragment, first half only, cut to
something else at 1830, but not before had concluded my ITALY item
about the late Dario Monferini.

Also confirmed Saturday October 22 at 1950 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO,
S9+18 into nearby SDR, about 23 minutes into so started circa 1927.

Reconfirmed NOT on WRMI 15770, Sat Oct 23 at 1930, despite staying on
the websked months after replaced by a gospel huxter.

Reconfirmed NOT on 7780 or any other WRMI frequency at 0030 UT Sunday
October 23.

Confirmed UT Sunday October 23 until 0348 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, so
started circa 0319. Next:

** U S A. 17790, Oct 23 at 1506, WRMI is S9/+10 with R. Africa
service to SAm, much better way over here than ex-21525 still lacking
a proper antenna. WRMI itself presents no specific program sked, but
AFAIK it`s 100% gospel huxters. The gals at PanAm are jumping for joy:

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Oct 22 from 1445 past 1600, NO show of
LRA36 this Saturday into Argentine SDR; guess they had enough this
week on Wed and special Thu even tho truncated (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, 5040, 6000, 6165, Oct 22 at 0612, all these Rebelde/RHC
are OFF, while English remains on 6060 JBM and sufficient 6100.
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba/RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5955, Oct 22 at 0614, pulse jamming against nothing, since R.
República quit Costa Rican transmitter on 5954 decade(s) ago. But the
paranoid Commies are on it, just in case! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EUROPE. 15210 USB, Oct 22 at 1532, Marconi Radio International
tribute to Dario Monferini and Roberto Scaglione, all-Italian talk on
poor S5/S6 signal into UTwente, but doubt I could have understood it
in English. 1541 some repetitive music, like an IS. Auto-notch filter
against het and noise reduxion do help, still going past 1600. Tnx to
Mike Terry for this from MRI:

``MARCONI RADIO INTERNATIONAL TRIBUTE TO DARIO MONFERINI AND ROBERTO
SCAGLIONE --- Please be advised that Marconi Radio International (MRI)
will be on the air this week-end as follows:

22 October
1500-1610 on 15210 kHz
1800-1910 on 6185 kHz

23 October
0600-0710 on 9210 kHz

1800-1910 on 6185 kHz
2000-2110 on 6185 kHz

Al times in UTC - All transmissions in USB mode

The broadcast will consist of a replay of our special 30th anniversary
transmission, originally aired on 4th January 2016 which includes
interviews to Dario Monferini and Roberto Scaglione, two well-known
figures of the Italian DX scene who passed away in this very sad 2022.
That wants to be our modest tribute to Dario (editor of Play DX) and
Roberto (Host of AWR's Italian DX programme). Stay tuned! Marconi
Radio International``

Here are looks at Dario from WRMI:
https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=970992450503824&set=ecnf.100027792350339
https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=970992507170485&set=ecnf.100027792350339

IRRS was also going to tribute Dario on SW, MW and web this weekend at
unspecified times. Check 7290 via Bulgaria at 18-19. Into UTwente,
music at 1812 Oct 22 suffers heavy 3 Hz SAH from another station,
CNR1? Beijing site supposed to stop at 1805* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846, Oct 22 at 0623, JBA carrier from R. Kiribati; Gary
Pence had notified me at 0410 that it was already S7/S8 into Oahu SDR.
Plus a bunch of TA carriers, see unID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Oct 22 at 0617, VON is on at S9+20, but
undermodulated Hausa. Nothing at 1811 into Canary SDR (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2161 monitoring: confirmed new time
UT Saturday October 22 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, just reactiivated with VG
S9+20/30 signal here toward the NW, and S9+32 into Missouri SDR. New
// 15770 however is JBA direct; not into UTwente if aimed thataway,
rather splash from 15775, i.e. CNR1 jammer vs SOH for long hours, per
Aoki. How about KFS remote at Halfmoon Bay CA on its SE antenna? 15770
achieves S7/S9, but even there, 5850 is much better, S9+15/30. 7730
will probably be the last one repaired next week, to resume at night
instead of 15770.

Also confirmed UT Saturday October 22 at 0400 on WBCQ Radio Angela,
5130-, S9+8/13 into Maryland SDR.

Also confirmed Saturday October 22 at 1600 on WRN N America webcast.

Surprise! as I am monitoring IRRS 7290 Bulgaria for something about
Dario, via UTwente, Saturday October 22, WOR starts at 1814!!
Supposedly not scheduled on Sat, so could only be a fragment. Also on
AM Italia, 1323 only, into Noale SDR. Next:

** CHINA [and non]. 13530 & 13020, Oct 21 at 2346, JBA Chinese with
heavy flutter, i.e. CNR1 jammers of SOH. 13129.9 also JBA and not
fluttery: maybe this one is really Sound of Hope (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Oct 21 at 2344, R. Rebelde still off, but no trace of
Quillabamba. 5040 also off lacking RHC. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Oct 21 at 2153, no horrible signal from R. Cairo
into UTwente. Something`s amiss at Abis (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI [and non]. 846 kHz, Oct 21 at 0634, no signal from R.
Kiribati; and only 9/kHz JBA carrier is 882, presumably 20 kW Canary
Islands. Note: in such cases of 9-kHz step-tuning on USB 1 kHz below,
I make sure the signal is from 882, not 880. However, Gary Pence sends
an Oahu SDR screenshot at 0636 showing a trace on 846, so does seem on
tonight. Yes, and Ron Howard replies to previous report:

```Re: ``I was surprised to discover that the other Kiribati station,
Kiritimati 846, was carrying separate programming and signed off at
0730z. Bruce in Seattle``
Hi Bruce - Thank you very much for the Radio Kiribati info. Most
helpful! Tuned into 846, from 0712 till cut off mid-song at 0726* UT,
on Oct 21. Non-stop pop songs; heard with no announcements at all; no
sign off info! Ron (California)``` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, Oct 21 at 1502, V. of Martyrs, Korea, but
Maldives service continues unreasonably strong S9+10/20 here on
opposite worldside from secret site. English preaching but self-QRM
from off-mike undertalk in another language presumably Dhivehi:
simultaneous translation E-to-D? In which case the Dhivehi should be
atop. Or maybe it`s Korean.
BTW, with sea level rising to drown the islands unless they float,
Maldives have slightly more pressing problems than whether to
switch deity projexion, from Allah to God (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NIGERIA. 7255-, Oct 21 at 0650, S9 of dead air direct, so VON is on
this morning, but fruitless. Also nothing into Canary SDR at 1758 nor
some later chex (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6880 AM, Oct 21 at 2355, music S5/S7. These say it`s
WTF Radio Worldwide:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,103536.0.html
6955 USB, Oct 21 at 2340, rock at S9+18; 2352 recheck SSTV ending and
back to music. These show from image it`s Damn Skippy:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,103529.0.html
6969 USB, Oct 21 at 2340, rock music S8/S9 from live concert pausing
to talk to audience. These say it`s Mushroom Head Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,103527.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 27184.5 AM, Oct 21 at 2334, music and talk undermodulated
and distorted, relay by local CB pirate. On another rx I check all
local FMs for // and finally decide it`s 97.7 again, KHRK (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 17855, Fri Oct 21 at 2156, NO signal of the REE frequency
for N America, into Maryland SDR, nor at 2228 check into Canary.
Suspect it`s off rather than propped out. Maryland gets 11940 for S
America best, S9/+10 so I stay with it for 2200 token English; also
15520 ME at S5/S7, 11670 Af S6/S8. 2200 Hélena Rigobert previews
subjects after the news: Justin Coe interviewing someone who used to
work for REE, and also BBC.
That starts at 2205.5, with Lilliburlero, then Frank Smith on phone
from London, spurred by this week`s 100th anniversary of BBC on Oct
18. RNE English broadcasts started in 1944. Frank worked for BBC
Monitoring of Spanish stations; in January 1975 he was on `death
watch` for Franco 30+ hours but could not stay awake any longer, and
Franco died in next three hours. Got tired of merely translating
Franco et al., would rather write the news himself, so got a job at
BBCWS. Canteens at Bush House and Caversham were great place to meet
people from all over the world, many of them exiles. One Englishman
spoke and broadcast in seven languages, including fluent Basque. I
think Frank said he now lives in Galicia. Lilliburlero again to close,
and 2227 another in the October series of recommended horror films:
``Secuestrado`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 9830.003, Oct 21 at 2154, VOT already on with IS and
English IDs, VG S9+40/45 into UTwente, no squeal, but mod level surges
and drops, at first on that rx in AM Synch. A good day to pay
attention, but until 2230 I`m more interested in SPAIN, q.v. Back here
at 2230, amid `Feeling Supreme` about nutrition until 2237 music
break; 2246 outro of `DYKT?` in heavy accent; 2251 s/off with English
sked in usual jumbled form, 2252.5 IS and off before 2253*. Really
nice audio and signal today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2161 monitoring: NOT confirmed UT
Friday October 21 at 0330 on WRMI: 7780 still not restored, while 9455
which substituted last two weeks, has resumed with SMTV, ``yes,
Master!``
Confirmed what is now the first WOR SW broadcast anywhere, Friday
October 21 at 1430 on WRMI 9955, S9/+10 direct but undermodulated; no
jamming audible.
Pleased to note that WOR is no longer preëmpted by IRRS on third
Friday of month for Radio City rock music. In Sept, it was neither
them nor WOR. WOR 2161 confirmed from 1815.2 Friday October 21 on IRRS
SW via BULGARIA 7290, and via AM Italia, 1323 kHz only. Played to
completion 1844. 7290 at S7/S8 into UTwente but quite readable, and
nothing audible on X2 = 14580. 1323, however, still suffers heavy QRM
from Romania`s minority service in German, mostly under it but
occasionally equalling depending on fades of each. They total
S9+10/20. At 1820 WOR is about equal; 1825 way under. Meanwhile, 918
is free of any possible interference, but AMI is not using it.
As usual I monitored the entire hour: 1323, tune-in via nearby Noale
SDR at 1755 to classical music as always finalizing the Hungarian
hour, way over AMI. It`s unknown talk show about unionizing Starbux.
1800 cut it off for IRRS ``sign-on``, Feature Story News. As always,
7290 does not cut on until 1800.8, JIP FSN; 1803 Spotlite segment;
1805 IRRS ID, music, first YL bluegrass singer with banjo. 1812 a
smidgin of Amy Goodman, presumably a `Counterspin` promo, more music,
plug for something at a Long Island museum on Oct 23. 1813 timecheck
for 6:01, WUSB Stony Brook NY ID, `Off the Wall` but only music until
that`s chopped off at 1815 for IRRS ID and 1815.2 WOR. `Off the Wall`
is not to be confused, as I almost did, with `Off the Hook` on WBAI.
After WOR: 1844 music, IRRS ID, 1845 more music, 1850 M&W interview I
don`t try to follow, as 7290 chops off at 1857* when the ChiCom ACI
starts. Same continues on 1323 until 1900 IRRS SW ``signing off`` even
tho this is MW and it`s not signing off, Verdi theme. Meanwhile,
Romania has quit at 1900 with a brief tone, freeing up 1323 too late
for us.
WOR 2161 also confirmed Friday October 21 at 2030 on AM Italia, 1323
kHz only, S9/+15, well atop some musiQRM, and at 2031 I hear an
English ID like ``News Radio``? No, it must be Smooth Radio, the
500-watt station in Brighton, England, yet capable of QRMing us in
Italy and I suppose moreso further NW in Europe. WRTH shows Smooth
Radio also has 16 other relays under 1 kW on 15 other MW frequencies;
plus mostly lower-powered FMs. Next:
** U S A. 1319.72, Oct 21 at 0622 UT, het against 1320 pileup. Tnx to
Terry Krueger, FL tip I also mention on WOR 2161: ``1319.719 NORTH
CAROLINA WCOG Greensboro 0224 GMT 10/13/22 ‘Key Largo’ by Bertie
Higgins into Glenn Frey, Elvis. Singing call letters jingle. Very
good. Still (or again) seriously off-channel``.
It`s tough for me to measure a frequency like that directly, so
indirectly, I match the het pitch heard in AM mode, with USB
downtuning on R75. Here`s a log history of WCOG from my archive:
0305 UT July 12, 2022 on ABDX: ``1320 WCOG Greensboro NC with oldies,
likely day power of 5000 watts, 10:50 PM EDT [0250 UT] Radio CC SW,
Powell E Way, near Silverstreet SC`` -- no mention of off-frequency
Terry Krueger, Niceville FL, last December: ``1320 NORTH CAROLINA WCOG
Greensboro 0918 12/1/21 Average White Band, Stray Cats, Elton John,
Kim Carnes. Parallel station stream. Seemingly back on frequency after
hovering around 1319.73 for awhile, though I never got any audio out
of it down here then.``
TLK from May 2021: ``1319.719 NORTH CAROLINA WCOG Greensboro. 1020
5/9/21 Per D. Crawford tip, he who gets audio from his NC on almost GA
border home, but just a big het against WENN here.``
Les Rayburn, Maylene AL, on NRC-AM, 0127 UT Friday, May 7, 2021:
``Hoping someone can get to the bottom of this mystery. First there
was the appearance of the cryptic “Tone From 1320 Kilohertz” with a
heterodyne appearing every night at SSS weeks ago.
After checking weeks of recordings, we were able to determine that the
station was most likely in the Southeastern United States and the
result of a domestic station that was slightly off-frequency, not a TA
signal.
WCOG has been identified as a possible suspect…but nothing definitive
yet. Any idea on who these stations might be? 73, Les Rayburn, N1LF
121 Mayfair Park, Maylene, AL 35114, EM63nf``
I replied with my then latest log he was unaware of:
``** U S A. 1319.720, March 30 at 0322 UT, MW bandscan encounters
another intriguing way-off-frequency het like 1540+. Wavers slightly
and can`t make out any mod; loops E-W-ish vs some sports station, and
vs Black Information Network, new identity of KXYZ Houston. OK`s KCLI
Clinton has been slightly off-frequency for ages but not this much.
Aha, mwoffsets has a recent answer:
`` 1319.717 WCOG r:WTOB (Greensboro, NC) 2021-03-16``
Does r:WTOB mean it relays that 980 station in Winston Salem, also the
address of WCOG? It`s U4 5/5 kW; night pattern supposed to go SE, day
pattern SW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)``
To Les: ``Were you aware of the MWOffsets listing or do you not
consider it certain? I also relogged the carrier several times very
close to .717 but never had any audio. The DF seemed to fit. Now it
has a later log: 1320 1319,7160 USA WCOG r:WTOB (Greensboro, NC)
[-1319.717] 2021-04-07. 73, Glenn Hauser, OK``
My later logs from 2021y: ``** U S A. 1319.715, April 5 at 0504 UT,
detectable het from WCOG still here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)``
``** U S A. 1319.718, April 2 at 0252 UT, tell-tale het as previously
IDed from way off-frequency WCOG, Greensboro NC. This has been going
on over two weeks; how much longer? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)``
``** U S A. 1319.717, April 3 at 0145 UT, KLWN ID on 1320.00 with het
from here by the AM/SSB pitch match method, so still WCOG Greensboro
NC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)``
Nothing about off-frequency in TLK`s log 5 years before:
``1320 NORTH CAROLINA WCOG, Greensboro. 0810 April 3, 2016. Trading
off with WENN often, ESPN Radio, local liners mentioning 102.9 (I
think) FM, and at 0917, "... 1320 WCOG and at 1320WCOG-dot-com" and
back to ESPN Radio audio. Website not showing an FM simulcast
listing.``
In 2007y, WCOG was a Radio Disney station, contracted until 2011y.
Current mwoffset entry as of Oct 21, 2022: ``1319,7160 WCOG r:WTOB
(Greensboro, NC) [-1319.717 range] 2021-04-07`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VANUATU. 7260, Oct 21 at 0650, no signal from R. Vanuatu; nor on
11835 at 0703. Also checked previous spots with nothing: 7890, 7932,
8620, 11898. They`re gone again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 15450, Oct 21 at 1420, S7/S9 of dead air or maybe just
barely modulation, past 1430 and 1453+. Per EiBi only thing scheduled
is R. Liberty, Tajik at 1400-1600 via Lampertheim, GERMANY. Is this
USAGM site known to lose modulation? Less likely, Turkey`s English not
turned off after 1328; but only one signal now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Thursday Oct 20 at *1430 LRA36 cuts on
broadcast; good into Argentine remote. 1433 lyric during song sounds
like ``voy a buscar una señal``, or am I imagining? 1434.5 cut to
standard sign-on procedure; 1436 theme song; 1440 recitation this time
mentioning 43rd anniversary, ``una historia con futuro``; 1441.5
music; 1446 ID ``su cía``, and into live chat among YLs, even more
excited than usual, for the 27th program of the season; 1448 mention
Adrián Korol, head of RAE; 1453 geo coords of base; clima: +1 C, winds
of 32 or 55 kph? sunset around 20 local; 1456.5 phone and other
officials rather than listeners, but first one never identified; 1502
frequencies as 15476 and ``97.6`` -- even she can mix up the digits
instead of 96.7. 1503 we hear Korol; 1507 song; 1510 historia: from
1978 first radio was on met frequencies; Sept 1979 an icebreaker from
Bs. As. brought broadcast equipment to base; antenna up and first on
air Oct. 20; ID recording mentioning original frequency 6030; then a
long phone conversation with Juan Carlos ---, the first announcer as
he fondly recollects; still going enthusiastically at 1525 until 1530,
then the first song they played in 1979, a milonga; 1535 more chat,
but 1537* cut off amid talk and never to return, altho planned to run
until 1630. This is how it often happens even on ordinary days. Wonder
if this will repeat Saturday or of Wednesday`s (Glenn Hauser, OK,
on 1440, ``I was surprised to discover that the other Kiribati
station, Kiritimati 846, was carrying separate programming and signed
off at 0730z. Bruce in Seattle``.
