INDIA/BHARAT 11864.77 much odd fqy {rather faulty Delhi Kingsway outlet,

not Bangalore site, see hfcc.org request, ed.}

11865kHz 0900-1030UT 42S DEL 100kW 102degr azi 106 Nep IND AIR

Akashvani - Bengaluru, 0930 UT Nepali to Nepal; talks and occasional

music interludes. Poor signal for this NF (ex11865 kHz).

I also checked the Kathmandu Kiwi SDR and found the signal barely audible

in the target zone. However, the 15410 kHz was at excellent strength in

Nepal. Nov 12.

(Rob Wagner VK3BVW, Mount Evelyn-Vic-AUS; via

NASWA Electronic Flashsheet #1178 Nov 17)

11864.768 kHz measured on Tuesday Nov 19, Tibetan scheduled at 10.45-12.15

UT, noted at 11.00 UT at S=9+10dB level in Doha Qatar ME SDR unit. Undoub-

tedly rather via the older Delhi Kingsway site 100 kW unit instead.

15410.008 kHz outlet from Bangalore on reduced 250 kW TX power now.

Glenn Hauser logs November 17-18, 2024  View Printable Version
Tuesday, November 19 2024

Logs
** ALGERIA. 13639.998+, Nov 18 at 2009 into UTwente, Arabic S9+10/15,
listed as Béchar site of TDA on 13640, but insufficient direct. We
really miss 17600 which in A24 ran very long hours, but now in B24
only in local mornings until when? HFCC has exaggerated registrations
one hour at a time even if no difference from one to another,
including now 13640, and where nothing heard, 13790 and 17600 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 7430.068 approx., Nov 18 at 2317, strangely strong S9+30
Khmer direct; it`s CRI via Nanning site, 100 kW at 200 degrees. Must
be grayline shortpath if not longpath. 2354 checking Hanoi SDR when
measured once calibration adjusted against 10000, rather weak until
2357*. Probably too close to Nanning, 323 km, but good skip distance
1302 km to Phnom Penh. Nanning to Enid: 12879 km = 8 kilomiles (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 1040 kHz, Nov 18 at 0726 UT, whooper/wobbler
audible under WHO, presumably only one listed, defective 10 kW R.
Mayabeque, Güines (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. 13709.949, Nov 18 at 2006, algo JBA S7 into UTwente,
MWV per HFCC in Arabic, 100 kW at 355 degrees, so way off-frequency
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Nov 18 at 2300, token English from SNR not off the
air, S9+20/30 direct and even sufficient on PL-660 with telescopic,
also audible on 12030, 17715, not 17755. Preview a festival in London.
2303 news leads with protests against corruption, 2306 about Cervantes
award. 2311 contact info including email which has not replied yet to
my inquiry and anomalies. 2312 interview about a festival starting Nov
20 in London of queer literature, not only in Spanish, but also
Catalan, Basque, Galician. That`s rather specialized. Google translate
is no help with ``queer`` into Spanish with the same neutral or even
positive connotation as in enlightened English (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9610, Sun Nov 18 at 2130, JBA signal into
UTwente, maybe VOT English which is normally sufficient off the back;
propagation degraded. So not a chance to hear `Letterbox` yet.

5960.003+, Sun Nov 18 at 2259, VOT English, S9+10/20 into UK SDR I
have running to check 3975, s/on as if 1330 on 13635. Then over to
UTwente where measured, S9+20/30 with humroar and 6CI as Efsun the
axentuated reads the olds, and sports until 2317 `Weekly Analysis`
about increased Zionist influence on the *rump admn, ``penned`` by
John somebody - quill, fountain or ballpoint? 2322
``always-by-your-side`` promo, music. 2328 ``a-b-y-s`` again! and
`Letterbox` with Efsun so hard to understand despite her careful
attempts to read from a script. 1) perennial Jayanta Chakroborty, New
Delhi, logged 11/9 on 7285. 2) Rimantas? asks if they plan to use DRM?
Not now but maybe. 3) Canada, heard 45444. 4) Kouji ---, Japan.
Turkish music pause. 5) ``finally`` Paul? from S Australia who listens
to Chinese. 2335 more music. 2341 ``turning to a topic``,
lifelong-learning such as by listening to VOT. 2345 `L`box` outro.
2346 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music. 2351 headlines. 2353 s/off
as if the 1330 on 13635: something`s always awry at Ankara, and IS
briefly to 2354* uncovering the 6CI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Mon Nov 18 at 2258 past 2315 several chex direct, no
signal from VOT English, but algo on 9610, the 2130 broadcast
overrunning? Can`t recognize anything in JBA signal. 2327 into
UTwente, no TRT, just Chinese on 5960 and presumed Mongolian on 9610.
Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 379 MCW kHz, Nov 18 at 0552 UT, DL, 50-Watt ND beacon at
DuLuth MN, ``Pykla`` nickname per RNA list. Last logged Feb 4, 2024
and definitely not RU on 379 in Arkansas. PyKla is also a Python user
group in Kampala, of course (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2269 monitoring: Confirmed Sunday
November 17 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.998- kHz, S8/S9
into UTwente with 5/second beepery ACI from 1321 - a local problem?
Not audible on other SDRs in Netherlands, Germany.

Also confirmed Sunday November 17 at 2158 the 2130 on SW Radio,
Germany, JBA into UK SDR as not making it to UTwente, too close in
degraded prop.

Also confirmed Sunday November 17 at 2330 on WRMI 7780 instead of
still silent 7570 for the fourth week, S6/S8 into Maryland SDR but at
2337, S9+5/10 into S Texas SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 18 at 0030, on WRMI 7780, S9+10/20
into S Texas SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 18 at 0402 the 0400 on Area 51 via
WBCQ, 6160 -70 Hz = 6159.930, S7/S8 into NH SDR.

Also confirmed Monday November 18 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975,
S7/S9 into EI6IZ Ireland SDR, after JBA at UTwente: propagation, or
something wrong there? Next:

0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Nov 18 at 1628, JBA signal surely WRMI. Current
skedgrid for System B shows until 1630*, then internet-only until
*2200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

THE TINY TRAP

Leslie Stahl introducing an otherwise excellent piece about BHUTAN on
CBS` 60 MINUTES really a sesquihour, at 0135 UT Nov 18 diminishes it
as ``tiny``. Really, the area of Bhutan - as if flat?? is 19,505.263
times the area of MONACO, which really is tiny. Duh.

Sunday, November 17 2024

Logs
** SPAIN. 12030, Nov 17 at 1942, this REE frequency for ME is OFF, no
signal into UTwente or Maryland SDR, as still is off 17755 for Africa.
Still on are 17715 for S America, 9690 VG for N America. Something`s
notright at Noblejas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 420 MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0730 UT, FQ, 25-watt ND beacon at
Fairmont MN is JBA as are some of the other fringe regulars lower,
still fighting hi local noise level, so it seems I never hear a new
one. Distance is 533 miles, so 21.32 miles per watt, or 0.047 watt per
mile (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2269 monitoring: confirmed UT
Sunday November 17 at 0100 on WRMI 9955, S7/9+5 into Bonaire SDR.

Also confirmed UT Sunday November 17 from 0446 the 0415v on WA0RCR,
1860 AM, MO, VG into nearby SDR.

Not confirmed Sunday November 17 at 1145 when I happen to awaken, the
1130 on WRMI 9955: JBA signal direct, someone talking? Can`t be sure
it be I. Earlier I requested on the WOR iog:

``If already awake and not inconvenient, could someones check what`s
on WRMI Sunday at 1130 UT. Supposedly 9955 is on air at least on
weekends at this hour. If you don`t hear WOR direct or via remote,
what`s on the stream? Thanks, Glenn`` -- Replies:

Yogi Miaow: ``WOR 2269 was on 9955 at 1130 UT, so was their live audio
stream. (I heard it on a remote in Alberta .ca)``

``Hello Glenn, WOR edition No. 2269 is heard in Live streaming of WRMI
just now Sunday from 1130 UTC which was preceded by Wavescan at
1130 UTC. Jose Jacob, India``

``Nov 17 (Sunday) heard WOR via WRMI on 9955 kHz; tuned in from 1133+
UT; fair via Vermont remote SDR. {Also WRMI on 7730 at 0930 UT, with
"Wave Scan" with poor-fair reception via same remote.) Ron Howard, San
Francisco, CA``.

Nov 17 at 1935 checking prior to 2000 WOR on 1323 via AM Italia,
UTwente is again getting pulsing QRM from 1321.0, at the rate of 5 per
second. Not heard on other SDRs in Netherlands, Germany. Next:

2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy;
2230 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW [or 7780, last 3 weeks];

** U S A. 5920, Nov 17 at 0603, WTWW-1 is off, probably much earlier,
unlike last night when was still on at 0933. Day frequency 9930 not on
by 1715, but is by next check 1800 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 790, Nov 17 at 0733 UT, two mentions of ``wsbw.com``
apparent station promo. In NRC AM Log, must have been WSGW, which is
U4 5/1 kW from Saginaw MI. Radio-locator shows day & night patterns
both have lobe to the southwest; but address in Tempe AZ, rather
inconvenient. Perhaps they found local address as in NRC AM Log too
daunting: 1795 Tittabawassee Rd, 48604-9431. ``Like many place names
in Michigan, the word Tittabawassee is of Native American origin. The
word roughly translates from the Chippewa or Ojibwa language to the
“river that follows the shore”. WSBW.com is World Space Business Week
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 4840, UT Sun Nov 17 at 0415, WWCR-4 like last week, unID
preacher with horribly off-key amateur hymnody, so the 4-year-old
Australian DX Reports with Bob Padula are still canceled. Dave Kenny
of BDXC-UK referred to them so politely as ``archives`` (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs November 16, 2024  View Printable Version
Sunday, November 17 2024

Logs
** SPAIN. 17755, Nov 16 at 2304, no English since it`s Saturday, but
REE still absent from this frequency direct, but audible on 17715,
12030 and best 9690. Something`s notright at Noblejas (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.003+, Nov 16 at 2303, VOT English not off
the air, S9+10 direct but insufficient vs noise level. At 2326 into
UTwente when measured, S9+25/30, `The Energy Agenda` ending at 2329,
``always-by-your-side`` promo, 2330 music. 2351 recheck, headlines by
Efsun about Gaza, 2352 s/off as if 13635 at 1330, something`s always
awry at Ankara, and IS very briefly to 2353*, uncovering the CCCCCCI
which was already audible underneath; something`s always erroneous at
Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2269 monitoring: confirmed UT
Saturday November 16 at 0400-0429 on WTWW-2 5085, VG direct, a bit of
music afterwards to 0430*.

Not confirmed Saturday November 16 at 0930 on WRMI 9455, which remains
off the air. But someone suggested that 9455 programming may be
appearing on 7730 instead. So I asked the WOR iog: ``WOR on which WRMI
at 0930? Scheduled on 9455 but has been off the air. One report that
some of that programming has been moved to 7730. If awake and not
inconvenient, would someones please check if World of Radio airs then
on either frequency? Thanks, Glenn`` and got two contradictory
replies:

At 0935, Chris Mackerell, New Zealand: ``9455 off-air, 7730 sounds
like SMTV. No WOR to be heard. Cheers, Chris``

But Ron Howard, California, at 0940: ``Glenn, Nov 16 (Sat.) heard
7730, with non-stop music 0926-0930 UT; at 0930, start of WOR of
#2269; weaker QRM underneath in Chinese (CNR1 jamming?); WRMI much
stronger via remote SDR in Vermont. 9455 kHz was a clear frequency.
Ron, San Francisco, CA``

I happened to awaken at 0930 and heard nothing direct but Chinese on
7730 - that would be jamming vs SOH per EiBi. Yet Ron was hearing WOR
-- so that leaves me still wondering. A possible explanation, however
unlikely, would be that WRMI was running two transmitters at same time
on 7730 with different programming, widely divergent azimuths,
deliberately or by mistake? Per grid, SMTV is supposedly only on 9395
at the 09-10 hour. 7730 supposedly with TOMBS at least on weekends.
Glenn.

Confirmed Saturday November 16 at 1547 the 1530 on SW Radio, Germany,
6160.002-, S9+5/15 into UTwente. Some ACI from 6165 which EiBi shows
is CRI in Pashto via Urumqi, yet some background music sounded similar
to ``Silent Night``.

Also confirmed Saturday November 16 at 1834 the 1830 on SW Radio,
Germany, 3975.002+, S9/+5 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Saturday November 16 at 2030 on WRN North America
stream, and on WRMI webcast only.

Also confirmed Saturday November 16 from 2059 the 2030v on WA0RCR,
1860 AM, MO, S9+18/20 groundwave into nearby SDR.

Also confirmed Saturday November 16 at 2100 on WRN Europe stream.
Next:

0000 UT Sunday WTWW 9475 [suspended; still not on air];
0100 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];

** U S A. 5920, Nov 16 at 0728, huge S9+45/50 direct with soft
instrumental hymns; and still at next awaken 0933. Obviously WTWW-1
has been prolonged way late, but not with TOMBS, which is all it
usually carries earlier in evening, and daytimes on 9930. A test? I`ve
asked George what`s going on with this (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 7490 -50 Hz = 7489.950, UT Sat Nov 16 at 0052,
pre-`AAAWWW` check of WBCQs, this one still S5/S7 offset less than
usual, with FKB. And with ACI from 7495 not evitable even by LSB
tuning, i.e. VOA R. Ashna via Kuwait until 0100. 3265+ and 5130- not
on air into NH SDR, nor later mid-hour check direct. 6160 with TOMBS
-71 Hz = 6159.929, S8/9+10. Tried the 7490 stream but not working. So
I switch to Maryland SDR on 7490, where it`s S9/+10. After FKB,
deadair, Chariots of Fire music bit, canned ID thrice, more DA,
finally JIP Wm Tell Overture theme. Allan remarks over/under music,
``things much better``. Then refers to ``Elon Musk, our hero``, just
like last week, so a repeat? No, this seems live when it`s clear that
the MAGAtts will control all branches of government. More delusional
gloating for sure, so I quit (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Saying that “the prospects for the necessary revenue growth haven’t
materialized,” Cincinnati-based E.W. Scripps Co. is pulling the plug
on its national 24/7 Scripps News broadcast channel based in Atlanta
and eliminating more than 200 jobs.

Adam Symson, Scripps president and CEO, told staffers Friday that the
national broadcast programming — seen here on WCPO-TV’s Channel 9.6 —
would end Nov. 15.

However, “it will remain on streaming and digital platforms with
weekday live coverage from the field” and a “core reporting team,
based primarily in Washington, D.C., will serve Scripps’ local
stations’ news operations with national and international journalism,”
Symson said in a staff email...``

Seems it has now just happened. I was hoping it would provide truly
unbiased news coverage, unlike NewsNation which claims to be (Glenn

Replies on the WTFDA iogroup:
``Hi Glen-and-All: I am also sorry to see Scripps-News quit what they
were doing. I heard some of their hosts say good-bye yesterday. I am
not sure what KILM 64.1 is running, but I think it`s some
entertainment or series. I am listening on this stream of Scripps.
Mostly just packaged reports.

I did aircheck them when they were Newsy at a beginning of War in
Ukraine, also grabbed DNC-and-RNC coverage, as well as Election night
for 25 hours, and a June 27 Debate. Obviously if you want any of
these, please write off-list. Chime Hart``

``After seeing your email I checked and it's ION now. Which dupes ION
that's on another station here in Quad-Cities Iowa-Illinois. But this
week coming up there are major changes coming as one station which is
actually licensed to Burlington IA but had has a hopping transmitter
before moving to the Orion IL TX site becomes the flagship for 3.0 and
a bunch of subchannels gets moved around. I have warned people that
they may need to hunt for their favorites till things get settled
down. Michael Scheel``

``If you have a Roku, download their app. I'm watching it now. Mike
Bugaj, CT`` --- ``Well Mike, I just looked around their ROKU app, it
seems they are not running live newscasts. I know they've been saying
on-air "Scripps-News is moving to your favorite streaming service" but
they were already available. It`s also too bad their youtube channel
doesn't have many longform events. Chime`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)
