Glenn Hauser logs October 22-23, 2024 |
|
Thursday, October 24 2024
** CANADA. 28153 CW, Oct 23 at 2204, beacon: VE3IDS/B EN94 - the complete message repeating. WGB list: ``28153 VE3IDS/B - Owen Sound ON CAN EN94ll - #0 (22 Oct 2024) Note: ID + grid + 10" off power 5w`` - Band is chock full of beacons so I just log the first one, tuning up. QRZ.com: ``VE3IDS Canada flag Canada, Donald B Richards, 137064 Conc 7, Owen Sound, ON N4K 5N5, Canada`` Below a photo gallery of scenic spots but mostly equipment: ``2024 June -- I have put a 10 metre beacon on the air. It is on 28.153 at 5 watts to a 110' doublet at 40' AGL The rig is a radio shack htx 100. Please email reception reports to ve3ids.don@gmail.com 72/73, Don ve3ids`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CURACAO. 28340 USB, Oct 23 at 2206, rapid contacts as if contesting, despite frequent utterances, and fonetix, I can only understand partial call, PJ3 or 2 --- ON. None of his numerous piledup North American contacts ever mention his call! I declare that such QSOs should be nullified unless both stations mention their own and their contact call at least once! I have to find him at DX Cluster/dxheat as: PJ2/DL30N: ``DL3ON Germany flag Germany, Leon Martin Hellmich, Lauffener Weg 2/1, Neckarwestheim 74382, Germany`` - nothing about Curacao there but has operated from several other countries. 10m band is packed, also with beacons but I log only one, from Canada, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 15390, Oct 23 at 2200, the REE Africa frequency is finally back on! Weakest of the four. I had last heard it on August 23; by next token English broadcast Aug 26, it was missing, and ever since. As usual it`s the weakest at unfavorable angle for us, less than 15520 < 17715 < 17855, the last being S9+30/40 direct. BUT now there is another problem: it`s Wednesday and there is NO ENGLISH!! 2200 keeps right on in Spanish about flora or fauna in Africa and Canarias. Could not catch program title but said something like ``doble-L tres punto cero``. Looked up later on websked, indeed ``today`` jueves 24 at 00:00 local, it`s ``Doble Hélice``, a sci/tech show; followed by usual French as also heard. Looking ahead a few days, English is still shown for Sat 26 & Tue 29 at 00:00, i.e. Fri 22 UT and Mon 23 UT! So was this a one-off pre-emption, or what? Something`s messed up in Madrid. And isn`t it incredible that supposed ``international`` broadcasters make listeners abroad adjust to their own local clock changes, which should be irrelevant. REE`s confusing B24 sked at HFCC: http://www.hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=B24&broadc=REE pretends everything is in Spanish! The possible frequencies M/W/F at 2300-2300 when English is expected: ME 12030. Af 17755 or 21620. SAm 17715 or 11940. NAm 17855 or 9690. Likely the lower ones really in use, the highers as alt/backup? PLUS a separate broadcast, the only one at 302 degrees azimuth, further west toward N America than 290 for the rest, this one on 15110 at 2000-2400 daily. But that would require 5 transmitters at once: anticipating the first new one? Power for each as 200 kW. Hours and frequencies are quite different weekends (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, Oct 23 at 2200, VOT English not off the air, S9+20/30 direct at s/on. Distracted as usual by SPAIN and 10m ham activity; 2215 discussion of cardiac technology such a wireless pacemakers. -2220 outro as `Unexpected Twists of Fate``. Then I`m on Maryland SDR where it`s sufficient, rather than UTwente: 2221 announces new English schedule from 27/10, as I have already found via HFCC: 1330 13635; 1930 6050; 2300 5960. 2030 9610. 1730 9660. BUT she does not mention any broadcast at 0400: Is it being canceled? Probably not; something`s always awry at Ankara. 2222 `Sports Panorama`, 2233 `The Middle East and Turkey`. 2252 recheck with IS after s/off, to 2253* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 29620 FM, Oct 23 at 2159, I turn on the R75 still tuned here and that unknown repeater is again/still there, as N5TZH is trying to make contact thru it. QRZ.com: ``N5TZH USA flag USA, RICKY D PARKER, 202 PARKER RD, JONESVILLE, LA 71343, USA`` - does that mean the repeater is near him, or is he skipping input to it? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [non]. WORLD OF RADIO on Shortwave Radio, GERMANY, B24 changes: ``Hi Glenn, I can confirm most WOR airings will be one UT hour later, so we can stick to local European time for listeners' convenience. However, we had o cancel five late afternoon and evening airings. This is a result of China insisting not to leave 6160 with their so called 'German Program' - just playing music which is ludicrous. There will be the chance of additional airings of WOR on 3975 but let's wait and see how winter conditions evolve. So here we go with WOR time via SWR as of 27th October: 2330 UT Friday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 1530 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 1830 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 3975 +++& 6160 - cancelled+++ 2230 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 +++& 6160 - cancelled+++ 0930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 +++& 6160 - cancelled+++ 0030 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 +++& 6160 - cancelled+++ 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 +++& 6160 - cancelled+++ Our official B24 schedule looks like this: 6160 kHz: 0800 UT to 1600 UT 3975 kHz: 0800 UT to 0100 UT Thanks for shows and good work. Always appreciated. 73s Andy (Engineer, Shortwave Radio from Winsen at the river Aller, Germany)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO on WRMI: checking the skedgrids I see that a couple new times have slipped in without notice, and to be confirmed: Tuesday at 1400 on 9955 - in addition to one hour earlier at 1300! And Friday at 1300 on 15770: that would make it the first SW airing each week on WRMI or anywhere. From Nov 3 after DST go off, some WRMI frequencies shift everything one real UT hour later: 9955 and 9395 affecting WOR; while 5010, 7570, 7780, 9455 and 15770 stick to the same UT. Barring any further changes, some WRMI System B not 9955 webcast only times also laten (Glenn Hauser, Oct 22, WOR) WORLD OF RADIO 2265 monitoring: ``From: Richard Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees. Hello Glenn: WRMI, World of Radio #2265, 9395 kHz, 2330, ID 2345 as 2265, 2332, 2345, 2359 (55433), S9 signal, October 22 UTC 2024 [Tue] (Lemke, Richard -AB)`` Confirmed Tuesday October 22 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+30 into Georgia SDR. Also confirmed Tuesday October 22 at 2330 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.003, S9/+10 into UTwente. Also confirmed Wednesday October 23 at 1930 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.001- at S9+10/15 and 3975.002+, S9+5/10 into UTwente. Also confirmed Wednesday October 23 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -73 Hz = 7489.927, S8/9+10 into Maryland SDR. Followed what sounded like a him but J.P. said a few words to close. Next: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160. As a noncommercial service, financial support welcome such as a contribution via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, Oct 23 at 0635, this WRMI is off, while 9395 & 9955 are still on. 9455 rather irregular, but had been on mostly since Milton (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 9960, Oct 23 at 0643, R. Vanuatu in Bislama ``b`long`` talk, S5/S7 direct. Lately has been there every night before 0700, not always logged, but you never know when it will be gone again. 9955 WRMI not a problem (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) TIPS FOR RATIONAL LIVING PLEASE, DO ME, AND YOURSELF A FAVOR. Vote FOR Harris and against Trump, who is evil, ignorant and incompetent. Encourage your friends that way as well, especially any who may not be interested in voting, so there will be no doubt who won. Of course you and they must be registered. Thank you (and thanks to DX compatriots who tolerate my TFRLs!)
