Glenn Hauser logs March 1-2, 2025  View Printable Version

Logs
** CANADA. 6754 USB, March 2 at 0342, Trenton Military, still ``no
report received`` from Shearwater, Greenwood, Gander, Halifax; and for
good measure repeated several times. Anyone ever hear CHR now with any
reports received? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 11635, March 2 at 0750, choral music at S9, nothing
listed now in Aoki, EiBi, or HFCC. 0800 VOK IS, Russian? announcement,
heavy Korean accent, and anthem, but also CCI from something else; and
ACI from 11640 which would be CRI in Cantonese. EiBi & Aoki do show
11635 as a VOK/KCBS frequency but only at 1800-2350. WRTH does show
Russian at 0700-0900 but on 11735! mispunched entry or changed? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11550.9, March 2 at 0359, music at S9/+10 with a
het from 11550.0, axually not sure which one music be on. Presumably
the TurcoKurdo radiowar, Dengê Gel via ARMENIA and Turkish jammer,
starting at 0400 per EiBi; could be anywhere in the 11.5s (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6935 AM, March 2 at 0341, S9/+10 but hardly any
modulation audible in noise level. A few logs here as Boat Anchor
Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,141683.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 9920 USB, March 2 at 0357, S8/S9 music, would take
for discovering a licensed NF if it were not in SSB; Soon YL ID as Mix
Radio International, still at 0417 but off by 0430. Then I see it had
been heard as early as 0142 first on 9907, and off at 0416(?) per:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,141672.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 9545, March 2 at 0353, vocal music, soon RRI ID in
Spanish, then presenting their entire B24 SSSked dated 27/10/24 to
29/3/25, S9+20/30 and then find weaker // on 9740 only S9+10/20. 9545
is Galbeni at 310 degrees for CIRAF 10, much closer to thisaway than
9740, Tsiganeshti at 247 degrees for CIRAF 14 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 420 MCW kHz, March 2 at 0740 UT, two ND beacons mixing at
about equal levels. Among the letters are P, Q, F and K. Those fit
for: FQ, Fairmont MN, and PK, Olathe/Herbb KS, both 25 watts. RNA list
shows periods for each: FQ `Montz` Fairmont MN, 7.941 seconds; PK
Olathe KS, 5.976 sex, i.e. 8 vs 6 seconds, so eventually they will
alternate but not much of a pause by either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2284 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
March 1 starting at 2039 the 2030v on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+20 into
nearby SDR.

Also confirmed Saturday March 1 at 2121 the 2100 on WRN Europe
stream.

Also confirmed UT Sunday March 2 from 0503 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM MO,
S8/9+10 into Georgia SDR, the 0415v following ARRL News from 0449,
which followed Houston AMSAT net running way late as often. Next:

2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy;
2230 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW and 7780 to SW;
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW;
0930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160;
2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
2100 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy;
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160.

Thanks this week to Terry L Krueger, Niceville FL for a contribution
to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, ``for all your years of
dedication to accuracy``

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1010 kHz, March 2 at 0411 UT, ``go, Gators``, Gainesville
Chevrolet ad, Gators Basketball, who won 89-70, more local ads,
``10-10 XL`` non-ID, so it`s certainly WJXL, JaXonviL Beach FL, U4
50/30 kW. Seems its night pattern is still way out of whack, atop
channel a kilomile to the west instead of all-out eastward into the
Atlantic. Hey, thataway they couldn`t cover Gainesville! (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1040 & 1080, UT Sunday March 2 at 0414 UT, both WHO and KRLD
ads/promos within `Our American Stories`, but not //. One of the
better shows on AM talk radio, I think. If I could ever spare a
nighthour, might listen to it.
https://www.ouramericanstories.com/affiliates
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VATICAN. 9510, March 2 at 0351, S9+10/20 of bells and drumming,
very repetitive like a loop, IS, or filler? Quite pleasant, axually.
Last thing I would have guessed is VOA Somali via SMG at 0330-0400 -
so yet another example of Popesite pushing far too much signal in the
opposite direxion; and violating Separation Of Church And State (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 840, March 2 at 0410 UT, Mexmx dominating on N/S
antenna, and hardly any WHAS on the E/W loop. Figured it would be the
TX, KVJY Pharr but it`s supposedly religious. None of the three XEs
seem likely either. Soon WHAS redominates (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

From now and for an unknowntime, at least for 3 years, I will not use any radio except the remote SDRs forDXing. Recently we moved from the village back to the city in a space thatprohibits the use of desktop DXing, a place flooded by high levels of noise inthe LMHF bands. The radio is now used mostly for FM, for news listening.we runpolitically lively condition with always very interesting twits every day ..

I am still not clear whether these skeds stay at same UT yearound or
shift one real UT hour earlier with DST from March 9, and whether that
be reflected immediately at the CCG site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 6000, March 1 at 0248, JBA signal must be Turkey, RHC
off again. Next check at 0600, is on, in Spanish but off before next
check 0715 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 1549.82, March 1 at 0725 UT, JBA carrier making het with
1550s, suspected XEREL. Earlier on Feb 28 I contacted Mike Jeziorski
in Querétaro:

``Mike, I`ve been getting a carrier late at night on about 1549.82.
Suspect it`s XEREL in Morelia - could you check that out? I`ve been
hearing it direct and on the Qro KiwiSDR - are you involved in that?
73, Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, USA``. Reply:

Re: 1549.82 signal, Mike Jeziorski, To me · Sat, Mar 1 at 4:07 AM
``Hi Glenn, Thanks for your note. Tonight I started investigating my
archived TOH recordings from the past few days, when my W6LVP loop was
pointed directly to favor Morelia (142 km/88 mi). Here's what I know
so far:

I also see a carrier at 1549.822. Occasionally its amplitude rivals
signals clustered around 1550, where I typically hear non-IDer WPFC
{Bâton Rouge LA} or the Florida stations at night.

I had not heard anything from XEREL since April of 2024. However, on
my recordings this week from Feb. 26, at 0059 UTC I hear a station
giving the slogan "Radio Pública de Michoacán". That matches the
location of XEREL, but would be a rebranding. The 1549.822 carrier was
present but not strong when I heard that audio.

During my few years since returning to DX, XEREL has varied between
weak and regularly heard. I can't say that not hearing them in almost
a year means they have been off or weak, but they are far closer to me
than anyone else on 1550.

At the TOH around 1300 UTC, when Louisiana and Florida are in full
sunlight but my path to Morelia is in darkness, I can sometimes see a
signal on the offset, but not a strong one. I have not gotten audio at
that time.

The Kiwi currently listed in the state of Querétaro is in San Juan del
Río and is hosted by DXer René Chávez. My Kiwi is listed in
Juriquilla, Querétaro, but has been out of commission for a couple of
weeks due to a problem with the splitter/combiner I use. I will keep
looking into this. 73 Mike Jeziorski``

``Mike, Excellent, just the kind of info I am seeking. It certainly
seems like XEREL by elimination, doesn`t it? Maybe you can also get a
bearing on it with the loop or even a portable with ferrite if there
is enough signal isolated. Look forward to your further research. 73,
Glenn``

``Hi Glenn, Thanks. I don't believe in process of elimination with
Mexican stations -- there are too many unknowns. For one thing, if
XEREL is barely readable for me just up the road, are they really
getting out to Oklahoma? But part of the research will be figuring out
when the offset carrier first showed up on my recordings. I don't
think the W6LVP loop is precise enough to trust bearings, except
perhaps nulls. 73 Mike``

``Mike, OK. By getting a bearing I meant by nulling 90 degrees away...
73, Glenn`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Fri Feb 28 at 2300, token English from SNR, S9+40/50
into Georgia SDR, 17715 almost as good, 17755 JBA and 12030 still
AWOL. After news, 2309 contact info by a different YL voice than the
usual two. 2310 feature interview about a museum (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Fri Feb 28 after 2300, VOT English S9+15/25 into
Georgia SDR; S9+35/40 into UTwente. 2336 outro for `Did You Know
That?` - I wonder what, music. 2341 multi-lingual ID filler reel, 2343
music. 2354 s/off as if it`s 1330 on 13635: something`s always awry at
Ankara. 2355 IS opening notes chopped off before could play twice,
uncovering understation CCCCCCI, standard denunciation. VOT English
program sked as of Feb 27 compiled by Alan Roe correctly accounts for
`DYKT` on Fridays:

woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` WBCQ chex, UT Sat March 1 at 0055 into Maryland
SDR as NH is off in unsupport for some ham contest: 3265 off. 5130 -27
Hz = 5129.973 with IS & ID loop. 6160 -69 Hz = 6159.931 S4/S6 but JBM.
7490 -77 Hz = 7489.923 with FKB. 9330.00 S9+15/20 with WLCR. 0100, 5 &
7 & 9 join for WTO theme of AAAWWW; first voiceover something like
``we`re coming thru, to billions and billions of radio receivers out
there`` {I don`t think so}, and one-word interjexion at end sounds
like ``Fab-U-4``? 0103 segué to ``Turn Your Radio On`` hymn. I`m not
paying close attention, but he plays several more tunes during the
hour. 0126, ``trimulcasting on 9330, 7490, 5130``. 0152 items from new
Free Radio Weekly, some station names and frequencies only, including
my 12100 MRI without credit. 0155 emails, some remarx about supporting
whatever Drumpf does, and ``won by a landslide`` which should be the
most easily disproved lie, an insult to listeners of whatever ilk.
Finished by 0200, as 5130 continues with 3 more minutes of music
before 0203* chopoff (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7505, Feb 28 before 0700, WRNO not on the air, but worth
rechecking next few latenights, as they managed to pull away from
gospel-huxtering for some New Orleans fun, presumably inspired by
Mardi Gras season, which peaks March 4, as reported two nights before
by Ken Zichi, Port Hope, ``MI2 in the wilds of Michigan`s thumb``:

``7505 WRNO LA New Orleans with ragtime and Dixieland jazz, zydeco and
other ‘New Orleans’ style music with an OM DJ, Kenneth (or was it
Kevin? He mumbled a bit!) Duncan who gave a couple of IDs and
mentioned his name and email contact info (at 0613 and 0617 as well as
the BoH. Songs included (Dr John) “Goin’ Back to New Orleans”, “Drop
Me Off In New Orleans” (Kermit Ruffins) and “New Orleans” (John
Stewart) among others more obscure. A refreshing change from their
usual brokered Bible bumping. Apparently this is on regularly! It’s
been a while since I’ve bothered to stop here! 55555 S9+30 dB and s/n
of 30+ dB darn near perfect. 0605-0645 26/Feb RSPdx +SDRuno
+randomwire --Zichi MI2``

7505, UT March 1 is again unpredictably on late, at 0755, S9+25 YL in
English about lobotomies, alcoholism; for Lent? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 790, March 1 at 0800 UT, ID for WSGW, SaGinaW, bong and CBS
News. Is U4 5/1 kW. Both day and night patterns have lobe to the SW.
There are quite a few 790s closer to here than Michigan. See my last
log of Nov 17, 2024 for more background info (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 810.56, March 1 at 0727 UT, mystery carrier again
hetting 810 WHB. Let me explain a quick approximation of measurements,
good, I think to two, but not three decimal places on the NRD 545. In
AM mode, note the pitch of the het. Then in SSB mode tune up or down
in minimal steps till you hear the same pitch the main carrier makes,
reconfirm by punching up the main frequency for a match, and that is
where the off-frequency carrier is (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11530.0, March 1 at 0602, S6/S7 talk, maybe English? Of
course I`m checking for the pirate formerly known as Hikari FM, but it
was always circa 11529.9 so probably not this. Could be Denge Gel via
Armenia and/or Turkish jammer, one of many possible landings in the
11.5s, per EiBi, not Aoki. But seems to go off at 0605* (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

80-METER HAM CONTESTERS, with QRZ.com info. Many get special calls as
short as possible, as having to utter one more letter, especially
fonetikaly, would reduce the total number of contacts over time! Also
avoid that three-syllable letter, dou-ble-u:

Logs
** OKLAHOMA. For the record, no changes in the local pirate/Part 15
radio scene in Enid this week, checked Feb 28 around 2045 UT: 95.1
open carrier in $ tereo is still on in downtown, formerly music
accompanying the `Tree of Lights` for Xmas.

1670 AM, Feb 28 around 2045 UT, Virtual DJ Radio relay, still audible
weakly around downtown.

101.7 FM mono, additional dead air around downtown Enid only,
presumably an RF feeder feeding nothing in a parked car.

Broadway Tower transmitters are still OFF, 91.1 KKRD, and 105.5 K288FX
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SWAZILAND [and non]. 15105, Feb 28 at 1617, talk S6/S7 with heavy
Doppler flutter, while another signal on 15125 has not. 15105 is TWR
Eswátini, while 15125 is CRI via MALI. Propagation quite disturbed, K
index at 1500 was 4.67, geomagnetic storms occurred and expected at G1
level per SWPC. 15105 route is trans-equatorial, 15125 is not; or
15105 could be long-path traversing australis auroralism (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 26110 NBFM, Feb 28 at 1623 UT, conversation about lying, aux
KMK282 of KOVR ``13`` Stockton/Sacramento CA, its most reliable active
hour. On 10m also getting beacons from California to Ontario (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2284 monitoring: confirmed first
SWBC, Friday February 28 at 1300 on WRMI 15770, S7/S8 direct.

Confirmed Friday February 28 at 2130 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1322.997+, S9 into UTwente.

** U S A. 9455, Feb 28 at 0938 when I happen to awaken, no signal from
WRMI, as expected despite contradictory sked info on own website. 7730
is on with algo JBA. This was Friday, so usage could be different on
weekends, when WOR is supposedly scheduled Saturday at 0930. Could
anyone hear it then on either frequency? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, Feb 28 at 0657, S6/S8 music, R. Vanuatu just in time
before 0658:20* - in a few sex by the time I`ve retuned to 7260 it`s
already on, stronger S9 but including more noise so less readable
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 810.56, Feb 28 at 0703 UT, carrier hetting WHB 810.00
audible again direct. Sure would like to ID this; others please check
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1549.82, Feb 28 at 0704 UT, JBA carrier hetting 1550.00
stations, weaker than 810.56 at this time. XEREL? (Glenn Hauser, OK,

The serious Greek news of the day :
Today marks two years since the train crash that resulted in the deaths of 57 young people, mostly between the ages of 20 and 25. The commemoration is being organized by the association of parents who lost their children in the tragedy, with strong support from opposition parties across the political spectrum. Live television coverage is showing events not only in Thessaloniki and Athens, but also in various other locations throughout Greece in most capitals of the counties.

The public, as well as the parents of the victims, demand justice and punishment for all those indirectly responsible for the deaths of the children. waiting to see how far justice will reach.
in the files section, you will see also the president  of the parents club in her public address .
