RECEIVER PROBLEMS: my main rx, Icom R75, originally ``instant-on``,
began taking up to a minute to warm up several months ago and this has
increased little by little, so that now it takes almost 3 minutes. By
warm-up, I mean fully tunable. It seems to be receiving signals
without much delay; it`s the audio output to speaker or phones which
lags. I fear this may get worse and worse. Now am tempted to leave it
on for hours between sessions, but not sure which would be worse: more
on-and-off, or protracted on without use. Other annoying problem is
tendency of frequency keypad to bring up not only the one I punch, but
an adjacent number; or sometimes Enter before I am quite finished.
Any advice? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 10080, Nov 29 at 0315, RHC harmonic again, S5/S9, tnx to tip
from Jorge Freitas in Brasil, posted to WOR iog at 0310:

``10080 29/Nov 0304 CUBA Radio Habana Cuba. Same program as 11760.
Could be second harmonic of 5040, but 5040 doesn't have any signal
here or on SDRs. 73 Jorge Freitas, Feira de Santana, Bahia 12°14´S
38°58´W - Brasil, Tecsun PL-660, XHDATA, Antenna Delta Loop and LW 20
meters``

However, here, unlike my previous logs with nothing more than a JBA
carrier, fundamental 5040 is also to be heard louder, S7/S9, but
nothing on 11760. Propagation must be iffy. Harold Frodge was hearing
nothing in the Great Lakes - Michigan, unknown if referring to 10080
only or all three.

10050, Nov 29 at 0727 my next check, 10080 is off but 2 x 5025 Radio
Rebelde is on! S9/+10, and 5025 is back after a long absence, at
S8/S9. Then Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria, reported, via SDR Half Moon Bay CA,
assuming all these are ``BAUta 100 kW 083&263 to Cuba``:

``Radio Habana Cuba in Spanish/English/Spanish on 5040 khz & 2nd hx
10080 kHz via Bauta, November 29:
0519&0559 on 10080 Spanish/English. Good
0519&0559 on 5040 Spanish/English. Poor
from 0659 on 10080 Spanish is unscheduled. Good
from 0659 on 5040 Spanish is unscheduled. Poor

And assuming these are ``BAUta 100 kW / non-dir to Cuba``:
``Reception of Radio Rebelde in Spanish on 5025 kHz & 2nd hx 10050 kHz
via Bauta, November 29:
0715&0758 on 10050 Spanish. Very good
0715&0758 on 5025 Spanish. Weak/fair``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Nov 29 at 2007, RHC English again instead of break,
much better here S9/+10 than // supposed only frequency 15140. Too
bad, but 11760 gone before 2049 recheck. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 9955, Nov 29 at 1616, WRMI with anti-Communist rant in
Spanish, S9 vs NO jamming. Not // 11860 Martí. Another secret
broadcast of R. República? Yes, as 1624 talking about trabajadores,
and a ``paro nacional`` = general strike? 1625 ID with schedule on
9490 and 5800 but no other SW frequencies; 1628 now says also on La
Poderosa 670 = WWFE Miami, Sundays at 11 pm. Previous announcement
included some other nights but not every. 1629 resumes ``derecho al
trabajo`` subject. Checking again WRMI skedgrid, transmission hours
atop shows 9955 continuously with System B, while contradictorily,
SysB sked shows it ``internet only`` at these hours with no content
given!

9955, next check Nov 29 at 1904, still/again? anti-Communist rant in
Cuban Spanish, S7/S9 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Nov 29 at 2133, R. Cairo, S9+35 into UTwente with
huge hum, just barely suppressed/distorted modulation, unreadable and
marginally recognizable as Englishish intonation. Something`s always
egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI [and non]. 846 kHz, Nov 29 at 0730, JBA carrier from R.
Kiribati; only other 9/kHz split JBA MW carrier is 774 at 0732 making
a slow beat of two signals, i.e. remnant of SPAINs (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY [non]. 5960, Nov 29 by 2308, no VOT signal into UTwente; nor
any East Turkistan either - until cut on *2311.4 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13565, Nov 29 at 1604, JJBBA CW, surely the 1.8 milliwatt
HIFER beacon K6FRC in California; vs much stronger CODAR swirshes at
the rate of exactly twice per second (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Among several 10m ham beacons, Nov 29 at

to *2004; never very strong, now it`s weakened (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2166 monitoring: confirmed UT

** U S A. 15770, Nov 29 at 2008, WRMI with Spanish program about the
disappeared R. Suecia, including lots of clips, some in English. It`s
`La Rosa de Tokio` as scheduled this hour Tuesdays. Sounds familiar;
altho `new`, I search out previous LRT publicity that R. Sweden would
be topic: weekends of 7/17/22, 12/26/21, 5/22/21, 6/21/20. Older ones
maybe different, but suspect reruns lately, never specified. I still
haven`t figured out what Tokyo Rose has to do with any of this. Direct
at first, it`s poor, but at 2050 into Maryland SDR, VG S9/+5.
9955, WRMI: See CUBA [non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890, Nov 29 at 0729, JBA carrier from RV 2 X 3945; 11835,
JJBBA carrier on 3 X 3945 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6810, Nov 29 at 0725, JBA carrier, often noted but not
logged. If harmonic, possible fundamentals: 3405, 2270, 1702.5, 1362,
1135, 972.86, 851.25, 756.67, 681, 619.09, 567.5, 523.85 --- all of
which are very unlikely. Idle utility? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Nov 28 at 0735, S9+20 of dead air, and 11670, S9+10 of
same. Surely RHC transmitters running way late, rather than mistuned
second harmonix on 10050, 10080 --- not heard again since my original
reports. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13700, Nov 28 at 1627, this RHC still on overtime in Spanish,
S9/S7 but no spurblobs today. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, Nov 29 at 0003, dead air from RHC. Should be the `Mesa
Redonda` alternative // 11950 which is not dead and not // mainstream
11760. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Nov 28 at 2211, no English signal into UTwente
from R. Cairo. Something`s amiss at Abis (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI [and non]. 846 kHz, Nov 28 at 0729, JBA carrier from R.
Kiribati; even weaker one on 1098 which would be V7AB, Marshall Is.,
but nothing detectable on 1017, A3Z Tonga. Only other 9/kHz split JBA
carrier is 711, likely remnant of 300 kW TA Morocco. Axually that is
in occupied WESTERN SAHARA, q.v. northern part but well south of the
`border` with imperialist Morocco (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. 15355, Nov 28 at 1958 open carrier, 2000 undermodulated
music and French, S8/9+10. It`s AWR via Talata at 2000-2030, and would
have followed Igbo/Ibo at 1930. Did not recognize music as the usual
AWR theme. Not noticeably off-frequency, either! (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** MALI. 17880.005, Nov 28 at 1635 song S7/S9, talk in Arabic, the
SSOB even surpassing 17790 WRMI. Sounded further off-frequency than
found upon measurement. It`s CRI Bamako II relay at 16-17 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAO TOME E PRINCIPE. 15460.022, Nov 28 at 1631, S5/S7 of talk.
Listed as VOA Swahili this semihour via Pinheira. This USAGM site is
one of the most capable of offfrequenciness (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Nov 28 at 2300, not by a computer, finding REE direct
to NAm is VP; intro of feature to be something about Poland/Ukraine.
Of course we could probably find it later on their podcast archive
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2166 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
November 27 at 2100 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, Villa Estense, 1323 kHz
only, not on 918 or 207 kHz, neither of which heard for some weeks;
S9+10 into nearby Noale SDR, but with fast rippling SAH from not much
modulated co-channel carrier. Preceding IRRS ID again claims 7125
instead of 7295 on SW, and 9510, but none of these on at this hour.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 28 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, JBA carrier
direct but S7/S9 into Maryland SDR; by 0055, improved direct to S9/+10
vs HNL at S9.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 28 at 0130 on WRMI 5950, S6/S8 into
Georgia SDR with pulse jamming ACI from 5955, which is an hoary relic
of the era long ago when Radio República was on 5954+ via Costa Rica!
But S9+30 into Missouri SDR.

Also confirmed promptly at 0400 UT Monday November 28 on Area 51
webcast; also WBCQ 5130 -63 Hz = 5129.937, JBA into Missouri SDR; JBA
to VP with ACI de 6165 CUBA, into Maryland SDR averaging -65 Hz =
5129.935. The difference could of course be due to slightly different
receiver calibrations. Next:

** U S A. 15750-15755-15760, Nov 28 at 1629, WINB DRM noise this time
on the bottom half, hybrid tones on top half, opposite configuration
from last log on 7325-7330-7335; why? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 11835, Nov 28 at 0733, JBA carrier from RV X 3, but not
detectable RV X 2 = 7890 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** WESTERN SAHARA. Only 9/kHz split JBA MW carrier, Nov 28 at 0729
when I am getting TPs, see KIRITIMATI, is a TA on 711, likely remnant
of 300 kW Morocco. Axually that is in occupied WESTERN SAHARA,
northern part but well south of the `border` with imperialist Morocco.
Timeanddate.com shows a.k.a. ``El Aaiun, Iqlim Al Uyun, Iqlīm Al
`Uyūn, Laayoun``, so when is sunrise there today? 0720 UT! Latest
sunrise will be 0741, Jan 4-19. We are already at earliest sunset,
1753 UT from Nov 26 to Dec 6. In Northern Hemisphere, these are always
about a month apart due to Earthly oblateness, but combine for
shortest day on the Winter Solstice (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 21599.22 approx., Nov 28 at 1639, JBA carrier, only sig
on 13mb besides 21630 BBC Ascension. This is probably a local birdie
as nothing is listed now on 21600, but logged just in case. Algeria
and Bulgaria prefer `even` frequencies. Later, still there at 1952, so
never mind (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ALASKA. 6075, Nov 27 at 0801, KNLS opening English hour S9/+10,
introducing music to follow and features including `Creation Moment`,
as to be a good little Christian gospel huxter you`ve got to buy into
wacko creationism (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 7335, 7355, 7365, 7435, Nov 27 at 0745,
wall-of-noise/pulse jamming against nothing, hours after R. Martí has
signed off. Or in case of 7335, not used at all this Beason, but
almost QRMing WINB DRM 7325-7330-7335, q.v. Jamming sounds differ:
wall-of-noise on 7335, 7355; pulsing on 7365; faster rate and lower
pitch pulsing on 7435. Also still jamming noise on 6030 and 5980, the
latter QRMing the WWCR leapfrog mixing product of 5890 over 5935
weekends only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE. 11875.079V, Nov 27 at 0749, YL in unknown language S9 vs S7
noise level, slightly varying audibly as I try to measure it. Surely
not CRI listed during this hour, rather RFI in FUlani via ISSoudun at
0730-0800 along with MANdinka in previous semihour. Could well be same
defective transmitter as for R. República from 0100 on 9490+ (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Nov 27 at 0740, S8/S9 of dead air from VON. Amazing
how incompetent some stations are, can`t even tell if the transmitter
they run be modulating: either put some audio on or turn it off. And
VON is hardly the only one (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6920 USB, Nov 26 at 0040, vamping music very
repetitive, with occasional words; 0053 maybe ID unreadable in brief
pause, S5/S8 still past 0058. Several more logs as unID:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,105959.0.html
Seems I was getting better signal than most, reversal of usual
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2166 monitoring: confirmed UT
Sunday November 27 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9 into Maryland SDR, as
always on this frequency/System, starting with a self-imposed noise
burst overriding the first 10 seconds or so.

Also confirmed UT Sunday November 27 at 0416 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM,
Wentzville MO, S9+20 into nearby Warrenton SDR with some storm
crashes. Blitzortung shows a tiny storm in the MO Bootheel, larger
storm area from southern AL into the GoMex -- about 5 minutes into so
started early circa 0411. Next:

2100 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy

** U S A. 7325-7330-7335, Sunday Nov 27 at 0742, hybrid DRM, noise on
upper half, secret data beepery on lower half, so obviously WINB
rather than RRI or something. I thought WINBDRM were M-F only but EiBi
now implies daily 0700-0900, extended 0900-0930 M-F only. Almost QRMs
the Cuban jamming against nothing on 7335! q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 5920-5950, Nov 27 at 0800, WWCR with DGS so strong S9+40/50
that it`s splattering from 5935 out to plus/minus 15 kHz. Also 5980 as
leapfrog mixing product of 5890 TOMBS over 5935 another 45 kHz beyond,
fortunately jammed by Cuba unintentionally since Martí is on 5980
elsewhen (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 11835, Nov 27 at 0747, JBA carrier from RV 3 X 3945;

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Nov 26 at 1501, best of Argentine
remotes is offline, but LRA36 JBA on a couple others, weaker S3 than
usual as it`s opening multi-lingual ID, 1505 theme song, 1521 still
on; one of the remotes with local QRhaM overload; 1528 ID, talking
about Chubut; 1540 ``su cía`` ID; 1546 martial tune but not played by

for first play on Wednesday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, Nov 26 at 0720, S9/+10 of dead air in English except
for some hum from RHC not turned off yet. Likewise on 6165 with
slightly less hum. No 5025 or 5040 carriers, nor 10050, 10080 loud
harmonix. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Nov 26 at 2111, S9+10/15 of dead air from RHC. After

** U S A. 15770, Sat Nov 26, WRMI: 2112 tune in to Spanish introducing
a national orchestra playing what sounds like an unfamiliar national
anthem; 2114 sporadic time signal? 2115 `SOS WRMI` fundraiser about
famous musicians who are hams.

A very contradictory and confusing display about 15770 on WRMI
skedgrids: 15770 transmitter shown as System H at 2100-2200, but the
System H sked skips that hour! The unlettered RAE sked shows 15770
blank every day except Sunday in Aleman. System E = TOMBS shows 15770
& 9455 at 2100-2200. System F also has 15770 including Sat 2100-2115 I
Love Italy, 2115-2130 Viva Miami. Presumably that`s what we are really
hearing, with SOS WRMI replacing some or all VMs (Glenn Hauser, OK,

American accent. Scheduled at 2200-2230 is `Your Story Hour` -- is
that Adventist program in such non-English languages? (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 11835, Nov 26 at 0729, and 7890 at 0738, JBA carriers from

** ARGENTINA [non]. 5850, after not hearing WOR on WRMI, I keep
listening at 0200 UT Saturday Nov 26 as Spanish hour of RAE Argentina
Al Mundo starts. Gives date as Friday November 11! So was there no
produxion on Nov 18 or today, or just did not get uploaded properly to
WRMI server? Calls it ``Miami Radio Internacional``. Preview that will
include another edition of `Suplemento de Actualidad DX`. That finally
starts at 0220, a long chat between Arnaldo Slaen and host Fernando;
historical stuff about public radio, 0236 an Uruguayan FM station,
CX296 with a clip of its frenetic produxion; then about clandestine LV
de Canarias Libre from long ago.

Finally 0251 to some ``actual`` DX news, four tips: Congo Brazzaville
reactivated on 6115 circa 0530-0600; Voice of Amhara State, Ethiopia
on 7110 around 0400 -- that`s not a regional station, but R. Ethiopia,
or EBC Radio, is it not? Anti-Beijing, Sound of Hope, 2045z on 6340,
6370; Voice of People, S to N Korea, 6520 around 1000 with jamming.
Show finishes 0255 until next [?] week, multi-lingual RAE IDs, a few
LAm news headlines. BTW, current sked shows this also on 5800,
unchecked; and at 0200 UT Mondays on 5850 at least is the Argentina to
the World semihour in English (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE. 9490.064, Nov 26 at 0241, I measure the R. República relay
via RMI via Issoudun, audible amid the Cuban jamming, and find it is
*still/again* off-frequency, despite the on-frequency/transmitter
change report a few days ago from Wolfgang Bueschel I quote omitting
the frequency on WOR 2166; that must have been a fluke, temporary
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Fri Nov 25 at 2310, token English from REE has no
competition from Turkey, but interview subject is something medical I
can`t really get into. I do notice that both VA & MD remotes are not
getting a VG signal, and NO signals from 12030 & 11940; are they off?
No, all three are audible at UTwente, none VG (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [non]. 5960, Nov 25 at 2301, no signal from VOT into
UTwente; recheck at 2310, still no TRT but Chinese is on from EAST
TURKISTAN, std denunciation. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2166 monitoring: confirmed Friday
November 25 at 2139 the 2130 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9+15
into nearby Noale SDR, no QRM for a change; and nothing on 918 or 207
kHz; except on 918 I hear a 1-kHz het obviously caused by the
off-frequency 917 Nigerian beating against the other Nigerian or
something EurAsian on 918.

NOT confirmed UT Saturday November 26 at 0130 on WRMI 5850 & 15770,
which started only a few weeks ago. Without notice, 5850 has been
replaced by music, fill? And 15770 is now SMTV as on the transmitter
schedule, while System F sked still claims WOR on both. Next:

** U S A. (7490), UT Sat Nov 26 at 0100, WBCQ webcast of `AAAWWW`.
They say the high was 84 today with high humidity, uncomfortable, so
even tho it`s Deland of Fla I wonder if this be a repeat? No, NWS
confirms hi of 83 today and RH of 70%. Then a lot of chat about
horses, as Angela owns one named Sylvie who is a thorobred, and spends
a lot of time with her and 40 others at a nearby horse ranch. Fun
fact: Sylvie loves peppermint. 0122 complaining about the economy; is
getting harder to find powerful tubes needed for WBCQ transmitters;
and the rising cost of diesel, which powers the world. Accuses
President Biden of ``high treason for the war on fossil fuels``. Huh?
0142 reminiscing about The Jetsons cartoon show. 0147 finally
datestamp for 25 of November YOOLF 2022, trimulcasting on 7490, 6160
and 5130: so I measure them on Maryland remote: 7489.937, 6159.936,
5129.995 = close! Teases about the meaning of WBCQ: could be ``We
Broadcast Continuous Quality``. Reads some Free Radio Weekly pirate
logs just published. Wrapup and 0159 prayer running over into Hal
Turner time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
