This brings back pleasant memories...

Hearing on 650 ABC News at the start of the hour, a fade, some country
music, another fade. First thought was KSTI Rancho Cordova, but they are
Westwood One, but the country music makes it KMTI.

It's been almost 12 years since they had their DX test, and I heard them in
Michigan. Nice to log them here too.

Is Les Rayburn N1LF still active?

1480khz Asian.. vietnamese?  View Printable Version

I'm in Laramie, Wyoming and hearing a station on 1480khz that sounds
like it's broadcasting vietnamese.

KVNR is listed as vietnamese and I found a website for them, but I
cant say their stream matches what i'm hearing.

Siga Broadcasting owns KLVL 1480 which leases time to various entities
and they've done various ethnic formats on some of their stations. One
website says KLVL is urban, one says oldies and I ran across someone
who says it's spanish christian.

I'm kinda stumped here. Any ideas?

Continuing poor conditions. NHK2 again off at 1440UT, with JOUB-774 managing a bit of the anthem before subsiding beneath the waves.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

no

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling with splash or noise):

no

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

and still no

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

612 man talking, DU English intonation 1502UT

891 man, DU English? another on phone, 1514UT

972 woman talking, possible Korean 1511UT

1017 pop vocal music 1517UT, Tonga likely?

1566 choral music 1523UT, likely HLAZ

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)
774 828 seemed to be Asian;
738 855 1098 seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick

Al Merriman attended the Kulpsville NRC convention in 2005. He also attended one or two of the NASWA Winterfests in that time period. As of 2005, he was pulling around a trailer which we was living in, and was moving around a lot.

I recall seeing a notice of Ray Moore's passing some time back.

Richard Eckman had lost interest in DX'ing, I believe while he was still in college.

I can't provide any info on Elliot Strauss.
