** OKLAHOMA. Enid Commissioner accused of having white nationalist
ties sworn into City Commission [with audiovideo]

by: Natalie Clydesdale/KFOR
Posted: May 2, 2023 / 06:29 AM CDT Updated: May 1, 2023 / 11:35 PM CDT
[sic]

ENID, Okla. (KFOR) – Dozens of outraged Enid residents gathered both
inside and outside of Monday night’s city commission meeting to
demonstrate against the swearing in of a member accused of having ties
to a white nationalist group.

“It’s abhorrent. It’s inexcusable. Of course, as a priest, I pray for
him,” said Reverend James Neal of Holy Cross Enid.

Judd Blevins was elected to the Ward 1 seat on Enid’s City Commission
on Feb. 14 of this year. He was officially sworn into the position on
Monday night.

The protest of more than 50 community members at the City
Administration Building was sparked by Blevins’ alleged involvement
with a now disbanded white nationalist hate group called “Identity
Evropa.” ...

** TURKEY. 11785.009, May 2 at 2203, VOT is not off the air today,
S9+55/60 into UTwente, stronger than ever but somewhat
overmodulated/distorted especially the music. After news and ROTP, I
start paying more attention: 2217 sad song. 2220 `Weekly Commentary`
by Ibrahim ---, journalist etc. specialising in Turkstuff, read by the
heavy-accentedess, ``again danger for Turkish armed forces`` about an
aircraft carrier whose name I can`t possibly copy. If these announcers
were interested in really *communicating* with a foreign/language
audience, they would spell out names likely unfamiliar. Same model as
a ship of Spain? About number of helicopters, tanx, catapult launching
of drones and light jets, hospital. 2229 music. 2231 multi-lingual ID
filler reel. 2233 music. 2239 `Turkey`s Geomarked Products` about a
bread whose name I can`t understand, from Trabzon. I wonder if they
are trying go say ``geo-marketed`` as in exported. 2241 music. 2245
``always by your side`` promo liner. 2246 music. 2249 `with you every
hour` promo liner. 2252 quick check of reception direct: S9/+10 on
generous meter but *very* inferior to 11780 Brasil splashing mostly
evitable by USB tuning of 11785. 2153 sign/off with the usual defects
no doubt same recording. 2254.6 IS plays for one minute until 2255.6*.

** OKLAHOMA. Stitt vetoes OETA bill, accuses network of trying to
'indoctrinate' kids --- Carmen Forman Apr 28, 2023 Updated 4 hrs ago

https://tulsaworld.com/news/state-and-regional/govt-and-politics/stitt-vetoes-oeta-bill-accuses-network-of-trying-to-indoctrinate-kids/article_5fc1a3b8-e5da-11ed-ae48-c31a4283a5d3.html

April 28, 2023 video. 'Some of the stuff that they're showing, it just
overly sexualizes our kids,' Gov. Stitt said of the public television
station.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Gov. Kevin Stitt is pushing to eliminate the Oklahoma
Educational Television Authority, alleging that the nation’s
most-watched Public Broadcasting Service network is airing content
aimed at indoctrinating children.

The network offers children’s programs such as “Sesame Street” and
“Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” in addition to the ever-popular
“Antiques Roadshow” and news programs “Washington Week” and “PBS
Newshour.”

Stitt on Wednesday vetoed a relatively routine bill that would
continue OETA’s operations through 2026. Unless two-thirds of the
members of the House and Senate join together to override the
governor’s veto, OETA will cease operating this year.

In a Friday news conference, the governor took aim at some of the
network’s content and said it’s an outdated notion for the state to
subsidize a television network.

“I don’t think Oklahomans want to use their tax dollars to
indoctrinate kids,” Stitt said. “Some of the stuff that they’re
showing just overly sexualizes our kids.”

Stitt criticized OETA for elevating LGBTQ voices and airing news
content related to gender-affirming care for minors.

To back up Stitt’s claims, a spokeswoman for the governor sent the
Tulsa World information showing that OETA promoted LGBTQ-focused Pride
Month programming in recent years.

The spokeswoman also shared information indicating that two animated
children’s cartoons — “Clifford the Big Red Dog” and “Work it out
Wombats!” — that air on PBS affiliates have included lesbian
characters in some episodes. The spokeswoman also sent a Fox News
article that criticizes a “PBS Newshour” segment in which an Indiana
couple talked about how gender-affirming care was beneficial for their
daughter.

OETA Executive Director Polly Anderson said the governor’s veto of
House Bill 2820 was unexpected.

She declined to comment further except to say, “It’s just really
unfortunate that this is going to hurt the people of Oklahoma.”

The Oklahoma Legislature appropriated $ 2.8 million to OETA in the
current fiscal year, a 10% decrease in funding from the prior year.
The network also receives private funding.

OETA has programming that represents a variety of cultural, social and
religious views, said Friends of OETA board member Ken Busby.

“OETA serves a diverse population, and Oklahoma has a diverse
population,” he said. “People need to be given choices, and they can
choose what they wish to watch and not watch. No one’s dictating that
you have to watch this program or like this program.”

Busby said he was surprised and disappointed by the governor’s veto..
But he expressed optimism that the governor will change his opinion
about the network upon learning about how many people watch OETA and
the public service it provides.

Especially for rural Oklahomans who don’t have cable television, OETA
is a critical piece of the state’s emergency alert system, he said.

“Our broadcast towers are how we inform a lot of rural Oklahoma about
disasters like tornadoes and thunderstorms,” Busby said.

Stitt last year vetoed $ 8.2 million in federal pandemic relief funding
earmarked for OETA to enhance its emergency communications
infrastructure.

The Oklahoma Legislature appears likely to override the governor’s
recent veto related to OETA.

House Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka, said his chamber has
traditionally supported OETA.

Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, told reporters he once got
called into his predecessor’s office after opposing a previous bill to
continue OETA’s operations. Treat said he learned that OETA’s
broadcast transmitters are critical for the Department of Public
Safety and play a role in emergency communications across the state.

“Ever since then, I have supported its continuation,” he said.

About a decade ago, a group of GOP lawmakers unsuccessfully sought to
defund OETA.

Tulsa County resident Sally Keel, 83, told the Tulsa World on Friday
that her children grew up watching OETA. She still watches the channel
more than any other.

OETA programming speaks to Oklahomans of all ages, she said.

“It’s a wonderful channel,” Keel said. “I’m just flabbergasted. I
can’t believe this has come up.” carmen.forman@tulsaworld.com (via

15520 I also check May 1 at 1520, S6/S8 and undermodulated? with
rumble, wobble, maybe Doppler flutter. This ME frequency starts at

17855, however, is on air later Monday May 1 with modulated
programming, 2200 accurate timesignal = WWV, opening token English on

may have missed the next break as circa 0300 I had to switch to the
other WBCQ, 6160-, to find the wrong WOR playing. Next announcement at
0314 after what sounded like different music. 0331 a jazzed-up version

Yet the ``schedule`` still shows WOR at the former times, so I suppose
SW and/or streaming could resume just as abruptly? Sun 0800 & Wed
1000.

necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. (7490-), April 29 at 0000 UT, I start semilistening to
`AAAWWW` on WBCQ webcast. It`s not long before they refer to Pres.
Biden as a ``criminal`` and laud T**** who really is a criminal. I can
hardly stand to keep on it, but recheck toward the end. For once, new
Free Radio Weekly has arrived on time tnx to this week`s rotating
editor Harold Frodge. AW picks a few items to read cold, never with
full details beyond frequency, station, type of programming. One of
those was R. Eastern Star on 7400, reported only by never mentioned,
yours truly (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15555 USB, April 30 at 1454, WJHR with dead gospel huxter,
S9+10 while 15770 WRMI & 15825 WWCR are JBA carriers: a fine example
of a sporadic E MUF working from a limited area, between the other
two. In ordinary conditions, WJHR is JBA at best, running a few kW?
always despite licensed minimum 50 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Apr 29 at 1938 I tune in early for
a change to LRA36 frequency via Argentine remote; and hear a humroar
as if a carrier already on? Synchro mode cannot lock on to any
specific frequency, anywhere from 1 to 400 Hz on the plus side! But at
1940 the noise changes to rock music in Spanish sounding best on
15475.98 RC USB, S9/+10 - so that`s it! with a prélude. But it`s off
abruptly at 1945*. More to come?

*2005 cuts back on with song in progress. 2006 conversation between OM
and YL voices, some of them off-mike - as if they don`t know yet they
are really on air worldwide. 2007 fast Morse code including ID maybe
LU1ZV, 2008 s/on in spoken Spanish; and canned greetings multi-lingual
including English; 2009 YL reads scripted piece about Antarctica with
too-loud SFX, crashing waves? 2013 OM starts `Uniendo Voces`, joint
produxion with RAE and that university, Quilmes; with credits not
including the new 5-YL crewe, and yes, Nicole is a Srta. Accompanied
by one YL voice. No date mentioned so could be a rerun. Talking about
helicopter contacts with other bases such as Marambio. 2020 she gives
wx condx: -7 C, wind chill -14, winds 17 kph. 2022 refers to geomag
storm last few days so seems new. A lot of talk about Patagonia. 2025
multi-lingual RAE-only canned IDs. `Ecos de la Antártida` may be new
show title. 2028 acknowledging mail from listeners; contact info
including whatsapp, email, streaming. 2033 talking over a song, always
annoying, then rock song alone. 2038 multi-lingual RAE IDs again, then
as LRA36; etc., etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ASCENSION. 21630, April 29 at 1545, surprised to hear JBA signal
here, as BBCWS in English does not start until 1600. But HFCC shows a
complex sked in Hausa before then via ASC or UAE, since April 15 on
Saturdays only at 1330-1600, no doubt for stupid ballgames (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 10096 USB, April 29 at 0637, brief ATC contact in
Portuguese. Nothing in EiBi, but search of UDXF iog leads to
Atlântico, Recife (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 332 MCW kHz, April 29 at 0706, dash and QT, 1000-watt ND
beacon at Thunder Bay ON. With 248 WG WinnipeG QRT, QT may now be my
#1 Canadian, even tho it`s co-channel to IC wIChita KS, much closer
and a hefty 400 watts itself; totally different pitches makes them
easy to distinguish. Also at 0704 a carrier on 346 kHz, likely YXL,
SiouX Lookout ON, 500 watts. Editors: please do not mess with my
capitals inside names denoting match with calls (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CANADA. 7554-7586 approx., April 29 at 0635, wideband DRM-like
noise, centered on 7570 where it`s also audible under one of WRMI`s
strongest frequencies, aimed thisaway. Does not sound very loud but
S9/+10. Suspected this, as I posted originally on April 19 to the WOR
iog:

``CGA984, HF Trading from Ontario --- While looking for something else
in the EiBi listings, I notice: ``CANADA CGA984 HF Trading 0000-2400
-CW NAm ex``

same entry on 9 frequencies; surely merely available 24h:
``7570, 10306.5, 14592, 16301.5, 18190, 18322, 19230, 20152.9,
23861.5``

Transmitter site ex:
``ex-Essex County (Harrow), near Detroit, ON 42N92'30"-82W58'27"``

Are these really mere CW or some more complex digital mode? Could this
be the source of some wideband DRMish noise against WRMI on 7570? But
not very overpowering. There are no US or other entries designated HF
Trading, tho that is certainly in the worx if not already operating in
some cases.``

There is obviously a typo in the coördinates, probably means
42N02'30". Some DXers in adjacent Michigan also hear it circa 7570.
How about all the other frequencies? (Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, April 29 at 0628, R. Rebelde is OFF again, as are all
the 6 MHz RHC frequencies, nor any found on higher bands this time.
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba.

Ron Howard replied to my previous reports: ``Hi Glenn, Just like you,
on April 27, no Cuba (5025) heard at 0728, 0748, 0808 and 0844 UT.
April 28, I did in fact hear good reception of Cuba, on 5025, as early
as 0454 UT. Ron California``

And Wolfgang Büschel: ``My strong guess, 5025 was coming now at
present from Bejucal 2 x 50 kW site instead lately, because of the
un-usual oddity of fq accuracy mostly outlet on lower sideband approx.
5024.994 ... kHz. Seemingly some of the Bauta site antennas or main
power availability is difficult or even much bad, since the past
hurricane season!? At present only the five 250 kW Quivicán outlets
are in good service condition. 73 wb df5sx`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 17450 and slightly stronger 17460, April 29 at
1548, JBA carriers, the only ones direct just below 17500; ergo, the
uncoordinated radio war between Denge Welat via Uzbekistan(?) and
Recep the Turkish jammer, or vice versa (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, April 29 at 1547, NO signal from REE for N America,
scheduled to start at 1400 on weekends; while there is a JBA carrier
on 17715 for S America, so we know 17855 must really be off despite
poor prop. That leaves nothing better than 15520 off the back toward
ME (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13566+ CW, April 29 at 0700, JBA HIFER beacon IDs repeated
as RVA. LWCA roster shows: `
`13566.40~ RVA Richmond VA FM17 Unknown op; CW (h,r 2023/02)``
No others on ISM band audible now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2188 monitoring: confirmed UT

first chance each week to hear it with a bigsig across the continent.

5130 -24 Hz = 5129.976, S8/9+5 but VG into NH SDR.

Also confirmed Saturday April 29 at 1600 on WRN N America webcast;
there are several more repeats over the weekend, I don`t usually need
to check, and also via satellite.

Also confirmed Saturday April 29 starting rather late at 2012 on

UNIDENTIFIED. 6964 AM, April 29 at 0632, JBA carrier, again suspecting
something piratical. Nothing reported currently or lately in
HFUnderground, but many in the past decade+ on or near or in USB
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR

UNIDENTIFIED. 13730, April 29 at 1550, jazz piano music, but soon
stops to dead air past 1551, S9/S5 direct, the SSOB except for the two
USignals on 13605, 13845. What`s this? Nothing at this hour in Aoki,
EiBi, but at other hours mainly jamming and Sound of Hope. HFCC, not
updated for over a week since April 21! shows:

13730 0900 2300 27,28 ELB 1 0 0 750 67 260323 281023 D
EngNld HOL RDI RDI 4525

Rus RUS RRS GFC 3985

= ELBurg, Radio Delta International, Netherlands, certainly not that
with 1 kW. Of course, all those Russian regs are imaginary. Nor
anything fitting in latest WRTH Update.

By 1608 I`m on Maryland SDR which gets a JBA carrier varying around -9
Hz offset; and UTwente, JBA carrier around -12 Hz offset. Maybe was a
test from a major site, perhaps Asia/Pacific more likely (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
