** CUBA. 570, Nov 20 at 0736 UT tuneby, RR in Morse code under US
pileup - all I need to hear to know it`s R. Reloj. WRTH shows CMEA, 25
kW at Santa Clara. The other side:

Living between "light-ups": the consequences of the electricity system
disaster for Cubans --- 'There's no chicken in Santiago de Cuba,'
complains a mother of three. 'The MSMEs were the ones that had it,
despite the price cap, but they rotted, due to the blackouts'
Laura Sarmiento Pérez, Santiago de Cuba 19 Nov 2024 - 20:06 CET

A line to buy gas in Santiago de Cuba. Diario de Cuba [caption]

Santiago de Cuba residents have to make the most of the few hours of
electricity they have. In general, the collapse of the National
Electroenergetic System (SEN) keeps the entire island in a state of
aggravated anxiety due to the lack of credibility of statements issued
by the country's leaders.

For the people of Santiago, it is crucial to make the most of the
scheduled "light-ups," which range from four to six hours a day.

"I don't understand why, if Hurricane Rafael passed through the west,
electricity goes out all across country," says Abel, a retired English
teacher. "When Oscar hit Guantánamo, the SEN didn't fail. Obviously,
the system is not well balanced. It is shit. Like everything that
remains in Cuba, it's broken. They should just leave us with the
sunlight, because every day we use less electricity. "...``

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Nov 20 at 2256, the NAm frequency of REE is OFF
again! No signal direct nor into Maryland SDR. Something`s notright at
Noblejas. 17715 on, 17755 still off; and 12030 backwards for ME is
sufficient, S8/9+10. Preview about an exhibition inside a ship in
Madrid. 2302 news leading with child poverty high in Spain. 2307
`Titanic` song, exhib until Jan 5 is immersive experience, as if
inside that ship, interview about. Really too much of their token
English is devoted to exhibitions rather than more important current
events; but interviewing exhibitors is a lot easier, and safer? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960.016-, Nov 20 at 2256, VOT not off the air, only S9+5
direct = hi noise level; but into UTwente where measured, S9+30/35 and
only a bit of the 6CI JBA under. After olds, 2312 `Unexpected Twists
of Fate` about invention of safety pin, voiced by Efsun so can`t
really follow the details, until 2322, right into `The Middle East and
Turkey`, about how relations may change with *rump resuming; by an
``international relations expert`` whose name I cannot possibly copy.
2327 music, 2335 `Sports Panorama`. 2341 or so music. 2353 s/off as if
1330 on 13635: something`s always awry at Ankara. 2354 fragment of IS
for a few sex, off* uncovering the CCCCCCI which becomes merely CCCCI.
No finesse, something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2269 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees.
Hello Glenn: WRMI, World of Radio #2269, 9395 kHz, static QRN, 0045 ID
heard, 0032, 0044, 0057 (55433-4), 0059, November 20 UTC 2024 [Wed]
)(Lemke, Richard -AB)``

Confirmed UT Wednesday November 20 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+30 into MO
SDR.

Also confirmed UT Wednesday November 20 at 0030 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.002+, S8/S9 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday November 20 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.003-, S9/+15 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday November 20 at 2200 on WBCQ, 7490 -62 Hz =
7489.938, S9+5/20 into Maryland SDR. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975.

** U S A. 7780, Nov 20 at 0736, this WRMI is back on air, after
missing yesterday from at least 0330 when WOR should have aired (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9847, Nov 20 at 1910, huge dirty blob signal centered about
here as WTWW-2 is acting up, totally unreadable noise, while proper
frequency 9930 is OK but much weaker than usual; until 1913* as I am
checking these out for George who says the xmtr readings are going
haywire. A few minutes later, back on and back to normal, TOMBS with
big clear signal on 9930 only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7489.938, Nov 20 tuning WBCQ in early before WOR, music
during Pirate Joe`s `Extravaganzo`, but at 2159 closing he mentions
WHVW-FM and WBCQ. So I guess it`s WHVW(AM) only that is out of
service. It was on 950, while there is no WHVW-FM in WTFDA FMDB.
Instead it`s a mere translator as per NRC AM Log, W243EI on 96.5, Hyde
Park NY. The AM was only 500/57 watts. But, but operating a `translator`
with nothing to relay is not yet? kosher (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** CHINA. 13020, Nov 19 at 2310, S9+10/20 of Chinese with flutter,
CNR1 jammer. Longtime since I have fully tuned OOB ranges for these;
then JBA carriers very likely more of same, on: 13530, 14920, 14980,
15970, 16100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAPAN. 28555 USB, Nov 19 at 2132, JG1OUT Tokyo contacting Brasil,
USA stations. QRZ.com: ``JG1OUT Japan flag Japan, MITSUYA "MAC"
TAMAKI, 1900-11 Oninosensui Kanbara Tsumagoi Village, Agatsuma-gun
Gunma 377-1402, Japan`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7475, Nov 19 at 0751, undermodulated Josiah voice is
JBA at S8, so his Station YHWH, anti-Christ pirate, is on very late.
Of course that`s still before local midnight PST. Someones usually
reports him on and off earlier every night, but not this date (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 19 at 2257, VOT not off the air, IS and English
IDs, S9+10 direct = noise level so not monitored further (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2269 monitoring: NOT confirmed UT
Tuesday November 19 at 0330 on WRMI 7780 - since it`s OFF THE AIR.
Hope not another protracted absence like 7570 & 9455. 7780 still off
at 0752 check while 7730 remains audible.

Confirmed Tuesday November 19 at 1405 the 1400 on WRMI 9955, S9+15/20
direct with occasional ``blaap`` QRM, ute I guess rather than jam.

Also confirmed Tuesday November 19 at 1510 the 1500 on WRMI 9955, JBA
undermodulated.

Also confirmed Tuesday November 19 at 2100 UT on IRRS SW via AM
Italia, 1322.997+, VP S7 into UTwente - not at 2000 as I had listed.
Next:

0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975.

** U S A. (7490), Nov 19 at 2006, the expanded Tuesday-only 2-hour
edition of `Pirate Joe Extravaganzo` is underway via WBCQ webcast with
his usual low-key anti-MAGA political ruminations.

Checking since this report in NRC DX News Nov 26 published Nov 19:
``950 WHVW NY Hyde Park – Silent Nov. 1, financial problems and
transmitter needs fixing.``

This is JP Ferraro`s station; had been simulcasting on WBCQ 7490 as
`Pirate Joe Extravaganzo` M-F at 21-22 UT, additional 20-21 on
Tuesdays - is he still doing that on WBCQ only? Has he said anything
about WHVW situation? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 12030, Tue Nov 19 at 0748, JBA carrier. Surely not Spain
at this hour. EiBi has R. Delta Int`l, Netherlands, at 08-15 Sat &
Sun, maybe? It`s registered in HFCC for 07-12 UT daily with 5 kW.
Nothing likely to harmonicize from 4010 or 6015 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 16202 USB, Nov 19 at 2313, 2-way in Spanish (Glenn
