WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST UPDATE

Hi Glenn, my latest Hitlist update.
https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm

1) ~Aggregator - World Radio Network: Updated links to point to A-24
schedules. (Thanks to Alexander Miatlikov in WOR iog mail list)

2) ~Aggregator - radioben: Site appears to be no longer maintained or
updated. However, archived podcasts remain, so entry will be kept for
the present.

3) Australia - Unique R: Deleted entry as website is being
discontinued (Thanks to Tim Gaynor, Unique R, in WORiog mail list)

4) Germany - HCJB Deutsche: Website now moved to a new host, all links
updated.

5) Scotland - Weekend Music Radio Scotland: New entry added to list.
(Thanks to Lesley Illingworth in WOR iog mail list)

The next update is scheduled for late June.
Best wishes and 73, Alan Roe

** BENIN. 1566, June 1 at 0323, monitoring Canary SDR for opening of
TWR, whose carrier I DXed direct a couple nights ago. It`s so weak I
can`t see an exact cut on, but it is there by 0330, and still no
modulation audible by 0345. The Fuerteventura SDR gets that much, not
the other one in Tenerife (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 15245, June 1 at 1536, algo weak direct with het
from even weaker 15245.25 approx. The latter is surely VOK as logged
yesterday; the former listed as CRI English this hour only via
Kashgar, land of imperialist ChiCom genocide against Uyghurs and other
Moslems. Commies vs Commies! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY. 6150, June 1 at 1453 into UTwente, pop music S7/S9, as I
check for anything besides WOR from missing SW Radio 6160. Nothing
above that on band, but this below which is Europa24, Datteln. 1544
rock/songs in English with ID between each in German, ``Europa
vierundzwanzig`` also at 1547, 1555, 1558. SHN`s latest and last list
of Eu private lowpower SW stations shows it closing at 1500. WRTH 2024
page 548 shows 250 watts at 09-17. Map shows Datteln in NW Germany
near Netherlands border like some of the others (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** ROMANIA. 9740, June 1 at 0224, RRI in Spanish, VG S9+20/40 into
Maryland SDR, Castilian accent, with folk music, new frequency ex-9700
due to QubaRM; ironically, RHC is absent tonight, but no doubt will be
back (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 1 at 2203, VOT English not off the air,
S9+30/40 VG into UTwente, with Olds; 2210 multi-lingual ID filler
reel; 2212 `The Energy Agenda`, 2219 songs past 2240 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 17675, June 1 at 1533 direct, S2/S5 sounds like
Portuguese play-by-play game coverage. Suspect it`s the BAL
championship from Rwanda via VOA SAO TOME; previous games were on
17655, and 15580 Botswana, but which is not heard now. 17675 gone by
next check 1742 at UTwente. Certainly not NZ at that hour. At 1744,
17655 is on into UTwente, VG S9+15/20 with Luso Port discussion of
Angolan economy; at 17-18 regular site is VATICAN, violating
Separation Of Church And State (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2245 monitoring: despite my hearing
music on 9955 at 2228 Friday May 31, Jeff White replies, ``Glenn: WOR
is still scheduled for 6 pm ET Friday on 9955, and our electronic log
from yesterday shows it played at that time. Jeff``

And next: ``Hi Glenn, WOR 2244 (not 2245) heard via SWR Germany on
Friday 31 May at 2230 UT on 3975 kHz. Best wishes, Alan Roe,
Teddington, UK``

Not confirmed UT Saturday June 1 at 1453 the 1430 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, as no signal from 6160 into UTwente; nor on 3975. But see
GERMANY: 6150

Confirmed Saturday June 1 at 1600 on WRN North America webcast.

Also confirmed Saturday June 1 at 1733 the 1730 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, into UTwente, 6160.001 S9/+10 and 4 or 5 words behind on
3975.002, S9/+5.

``WOR 2245 confirmed via SWR Germany via my local Kiwi SDR. Saturday
1st June 17:30:20 UT on 6160 kHz. S9+5dB. However some sideband China
QRM // on 3975 kHz with S9 and no sideband QRM. Lesley Illingworth
reporting from Bremerhaven.``

Also confirmed Saturday June 1 starting at 1946.5 the 1930v on WA0RCR,
1860 AM, MO, steady S9+15 groundwave into nearby SDR with no storm
noise.

Also confirmed Saturday June 1 at 2000 on WRN Europe webcast. Next:

week to Doug Brown, London, Ont., for a generous check in US$ on a US
bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9455, June 1 at 0657, WRMI in Vietnamese, one of the
multi-languages of Supreme Master TV, S9+5/15 direct; 0658 back into
English and // 9395. Maybe on TV there are translation captions? Not
helpful on radio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 3955, Sat June 1 at 1900-1940+, Texas Radio Shortwave
via Channel 292, GERMANY, now monthly broadcast, S9/+10 into UTwente
but considerable noise and fading, synth? YL voice hostess with ``the
music of Texas blues legends Hugh D. Ledbetter and Lemon Jefferson.

** CUBA [and non]. 9700, May 31 at 0409, RHC Spanish with news,
S9+30/40 direct, no sign of QRM from Algeria, despite scheduling, and
that not on 9500 either. Also as of June 1, Romania in Spanish at
0200-0300 evacuates from 9700 to 9740. Recheck at 0426, RHC is off
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 15245.244, May 31 at 1823, song at S4/S7 and way off
frequency first estimated at 15234.25; yet one of better sigs on
almost deadband, JBA carriers, except for USA stations. I bet it`s
P`yongyang. At 1832 when measured I tune it in at UTwente where it`s
VG S9/+15, and soon announcements in English as ``sweet`` music
continues: how could that be coming from a hellhole rather than a
paradise on earth? 1853 with typical KN accent, recites extensive
times and frequencies of Voice of Korear English broadcasts, not clear
if complete, and off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 5850, UT Friday May 31 at 0200-0300, `Encore` on
WRMI, first scheduled airing of fortnightly run; usually I catch a
later repeat on UT Sunday or Monday; and check the playlists. But
content of this new(?) program does not match either playlist nor his
publicity. I notify Brice Avery, who says there was a mixup but he
won`t be able to correct it until Tuesday. Anyway, I told him I very
much appreciate his mixture of familiar and unfamiliar classical
music! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Fri May 31 at 2159, just before token English from
SNR, S9+30/40 direct and the other three detectable, 15390 & 15520 not
yet // but 17715 is. Back at 2202 after WRMI and Turkey have faded out
in R3 blackout, 17855 still audible but diminished to only S9+10/20.
Missed billboard about topix, but today no Amy, only Marylin Quintana.
2207 is about the dangers of smoking, referring to
https://semanasinhumo.es/ which concludes today. 2210 interview about
a museum with a statue of Constantine. 2226 report by Lebanon
correspondent, which I am now hearing on 15389.988, S8/S9 into UTwente
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, May 31 at 2156, VOT IS & IDs, so not off the air
and not on wrong frequency this time; S9+10/20 direct, but 2202
recheck only a JBA carrier! This correlates perfectly with a WWV
notice of R3 level blackout: see that under USA/WOR report. By 2224 I
try UTwente when measured, as it`s S9+50 over one? hop, starting
`Turkish Folk Tales` about two sultans (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2245 monitoring: confirmed Friday
May 31 at 2051 the 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.995 kHz, S9+5
into UTwente. Also on WRMI webcast only.

NOT confirmed Friday May 31 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, which had been the
first airing on SW anywhere: monitoring direct at 2158, S9+10/20 on
the meter but too undermodulated? to tell what`s on it, cannot even
recognize theme at 2200. By 2202 signal is gone: correlates perfectly
with WWV report of an R3 level blackout:

Potential Impacts: Area of impact consists of large portions of the

hour.``

At 2228 I get to 9955 just in time via Maryland SDR, to hear choral
music, NOT WOR, so looks like we have been canceled again! This makes
the very much appreciated WTWW airing, UT Sat 0400 on VG 5085, now the
first on SW from USA. First anywhere should be Fri 2230 on SWR Germany
3975, which I missed checking this week. Since I record on Thursday
afternoon including some possibly perishable info, the sooner WOR can
get on the air somewhere, the better. Next:

** U S A. Pre `AAAWWW` check of WBCQs, May 31 at 2342 into NH SDR:
3265 & 5130 NOT on air; 6160 -70 Hz = 6159.930 TOMBS; 7490 -70 Hz =
7489.930 FKB; 9330.000 WLCR S7/S9. Everyone hears the ``one-minute``
warning to FKB, except him, as he keeps preaching and has to be faded
out by 0000 UT June 1, when ``WTO`` theme starts, before a late canned
ID intervenes on 7490-. Unlike usually, AW never interjects a word into
theme; it plays complete unmarred. Then as usual he`s fumbling with
the equipment, instead of getting all set before the broadcast.
Angela`s mike check is OK. Having a problem getting 6160 to stay on as
``quadricasting`` tonight on ``3265, 5130, 6160, 7490``. NO, I recheck
and 6160 is on with something else and the other two are still OFF.
Says last week [only] was a repeat, and A&A have just returned from
Florida ``a week ago`` up the I-95 corridor, with complaints about
speed limits and masks. Soon at 0009 takes a phone call from Adam in
Indiana, by which time it`s very clear this is an oldie from early in
the COVID pandemic! No disclaimer aired before it this week. I was
wondering why they were not outraged about *rump being convicted
yesterday. This makes the SIXTH RERUN IN A ROW, as I have checked
every week, and the last new one was APRIL 20! I am thus wondering if
A and/or A be ill or something? Any explicatory twits lately? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, May 31 at 0636, music at S6/S7 so R. Vanuatu is back
with modulation as well as carrier. Ron Howard had notified the
engineer that last night it was on but with dead air, apparently news
to him! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1141.00 kHz, May 31 at 0616 UT, het against 1140.00
stations, very close to 1 kHz tone. Could not be a TA or TP where 1143
is nominal. As previously reported by: Terry L Krueger from:

``Boggy, Florida Occidental, IC-R75, NRD-535, ICF-7600GR, Tecsun
PL-360, active loop, random fence-stapled wire, misc. junk --- 1141
UNIDENTIFIED 0716 5/16/24 Fairly strong and solid with no audio, as
reported by others. Points roughly 330/150-ish degrees, which should
eliminate Cuba if accurate enough. Anyone in Mexico able to check?``

17600.000, May 29 at 1829, S9/+15 into UTwente, ending English ID,
music. No floating English rest of half hour. Grandiosely it`s `La
Voix Africaine` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BENIN. 1566, TWR: see UNIDENTIFIED, pro-forma

** BRAZIL. 9818.8345, May 29 at 0336, JBA carrier direct, as carefully
measured on the R75 compared to WWV; so R. Nove de Julho is back.
Wolfgang Büschel also reported it a bit earlier May 29: ``9818.836 BRA
R 9 de Julho Port, S=8 -75dB in EUR 00.31 UT, S=6 in MA state`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. MW ND beacons: see UNIDENTIFIED [and non]: QT, YXL

** CUBA. 9790, May 29 at 0335, CRI English relay is S9+40/50 direct
with two raspy spurs approx., 9785 & 9795, impossible to pin on exact
frequencies. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** ROMANIA [and non]. 9700, May 29 at 0200, RRI opening Spanish, VG
into UTwente and into Missouri SDR, no sign at either of RHC Spanish
which has intermittently appeared here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See
also ALGERIA

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11935, May 29 at 1829 quickcheck, horrible buzzroar
into UTwente (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Wed May 29 at 2200, token English from SNR, S9/+10
direct and the other three detectable; opening headline is that three
more countries have recognized Palestine as a state, Ireland, Norway
and Spain for a total of 146. Israel objects to Spain. After news,
discussion about this. I daresay that`s a lot more than recognize East
Turkistan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, May 29 at 2159, VOT not off the air, audible
direct with IS & ID. 2212 about May 29, 1463? when Istanbul was
conquered. 2227 S9+9/15 into Maryland SDR when measured. 2238 `Sports
Panorama` by Ms Badax. 2245 ``always-by-your-side`` promo, song. 2250
``with you every hour`` promo, song. 2253 s/off again ignoring SW, on
the way out? 2254.4 IS, 2258.7* chopoff (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 17655 & 15580, May 29 at 1906, both VOA SAO TOME and
BOTSWANA with same music, into Canary Is SDR; was supposedly going to
broadcast a silly basketball game in Portuguese between 1800/1830 and
2030, in a championship series live from Rwanda, presumably if and
when an Angolan team participated. UTwente gets 15580 only; the two
SDRs in RSA get neither! and appear to be deaf wideband. 1910 hummy
Portuguese announcement about this; one team is Tigers, from Cidade do
Cabo = Cape Town. Maybe a pause in game. Soon back to game excitedly.
1918 feed starts breaking up, switch to another studio for a bit
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2244 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday

into Missouri SDR.

Also confirmed Wednesday May 29 at 1930 on SW Gold Radio, Germany,

Also confirmed Wednesday May 29 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490-, S6/S9; recheck
for measurement 7489.933, it`s in dead air, hope not during WOR.
Next:

2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;

** U S A. Near-blackout May 29 at 1453 bandscan direct: on 31m, no
WRMIs, no WBCQ 9330, just 9980 WWCR very attenuated S4/S6. Only JBA
carriers from: 11930, 13845, 15770, 15825; WRMI 17790 at 1458 is S5
JBA. WWV reported:

** U S A. 1130 kHz, May 29 at 0316 UT into the R75, the E/W loop gets
KWKH with very little QRM, but switching to the N/S shortwire, rock
music dominates, no doubt reactivated KLEY Wellington KS running
250-watt day power at night.

Then at 0649 UT May 29, on the NRD545 with main E/W longwire, Fox
Sports Radio no doubt KWKH mixing with music presumed KLEY and at
least one other station. KLEY not dominating at night like it used to
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Re the 1160 unID Spanish RCC station, KCTO: Where is
Cleveland, Missouri, anyway? Not even in my Rand McNally Atlas index,
but shows in the Large Scale version as due south of Kansas City, just
barely east of the KS/MO border. If the longitude there be exactly the
same as on State Line Road in the city of KC, 94°36′26.7″W, the long.
of the site as in radio-locator.com, 94 36 28.8 W, puts it slightly on
the KANSAS side. However, pin on the Google map link puts it about
562.5 feet EAST of the border in MISSOURI! Coverage map cross for site
is right on the state line, but zooming in on one of them looks like
barely in MO. Why couldn`t MO & KS fix their border at some ``even``
longitude? Why couldn`t KCTO put its towers exactly on the state line
to further flummox us? Well, it`s a `road` even that far out of the
City, crossing circa 250th Street. Another tiny town achieves world
fame by hosting a minor radio station as its ``City of License``.

Meanwhile, more from Greg Hardison: ``Glenn: – Re UNID on 1160 kHz,
this might be the best we'll do: http://hosannachristiannetwork.com/
Hosanna Christian Network - Linked to, from MW-List under KCTO/1160
entry. Page is entirely in Spanish; page-link allegedly for Online
audio leads to an "Error 404" page. – el otro G H``

Mauno Ritola, Finland, WRTH, replies: ``Tim Hall and the other GH is
right; it carries now Radio María USA Español and MW list had last
year's info. Just listened to it via Kansas City KiwiSDR and heard the
attached ID. An update has been sent to mwlist.org and it should be up
soon with the correct links and the ID. 73, Mauno``

His clip has ID in English for KCTO plus two FMs - translators no
doubt, in Kansas City proper; net timecheck for Eastern & Central
zones only, list of stations in several states, NOT including this
one, but including on a subcarrier of 99.5 WBAI New York, which is
Pacifica!

I listened for it again May 28 circa 0645 UT: nothing but a weak KSL?
Rather than propagation, if KCTO, I think it must have been on 5 kW
day power when it was dominating. Both day and night patterns are
slightly clockwise from N/S, and theoretically without much signal
thisaway to its southwest (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. Local line noise level worst on LW & MW, has
abated slightly, so I can at least detect some NDB carriers, but not
enough to copy IDs. Tentatively based on previous experience:

365 kHz, May 29 at 0653: most likely AA, 100 watts of Fargo ND really
in MN
346 kHz, May 29 at 0654: surely YXL, 1000 watts at Sioux Lookout,
Ontario
344 kHz, May 29 at 0655: previously, JA, 400 watts at Jaxonvil FL
332 kHz, May 29 at 0656: barely copiable, dash and QT, 1000 watts at
Thunder Bay, Ontario - if any Canadian can make it, this is it. Cannot
hear IC Wichita KS mixing on 332 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1230 kHz, May 29 at 0647 UT, approx. 1 kHz tones lasting
7 seconds between pauses lasting 3 seconds, in graveyard pileup mix.
Suspect it`s a failed satellite feed instead of programming or
deliberate testing somewhere. Does anyone recognize this pattern? My
closest, WBBZ Ponca City OK, cannot dominate at night (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1566 kHz, May 29 at 0330, JBA carrier into R75, on both
antennas but slightly stronger on the E/W Wellbrook loop. Toward the
end of a perfunctory JBA MW carrier search in USB upward at 9 kHz
intervals, 1 kHz below each E Hemisphere channel. Nothing at all heard
lower vs very noisy summer conditions plus my local line noise.

This has got to be TWR BENIN, which I`ve heard before much more easily
in winter. Now in summer it has an advantage to North America, lower
latitude path far from the Midnight Sun: maxes out less than 40-north
in the Atlantic just outside Washington DC where the G.C. path from
Parakou to Enid enters North America; also, 100 kW, far more power
than anything in Europe, max 1 kW! Only more than that is 10 kW from
Iran. Nothing else of any power in Africa, all per mwlist; but shows
*0345; maybe they run open carrier before sign-on.

I am reminded to check for it by this on the IRCA iogroup May 27 but
lacking a time!: ``Benin 1566 in S. Alberta --- Weak, but clear and
distinct sign-on bells/chimes from TWR Benin on 1566 last night. I am
away in Spain right now so logging into my remote via my iPhone so
file reviews not very complete. 73, Steve Ve6wz Sundre AB``

Of course, there are several more 1566s in east Asia & Pacific, but
now all in the Dayside, 25 kW or less, except 250 kW FEBC Korea South.
The only other extremely remote possibilities than Benin would be an
American accidentally 4 kHz off-frequency, or pirate deliberately as a
DX spoiler. Another time, lacking any audio, should try to DF it
and/or check remotes such as Canary Islands as early as 0330 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
