![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** CUBA. 6165, UT Thu Dec 22 at 0730, RHC English with `Ed Newman` presenting Mailbag, S9/+10 undermodulated. Only RHC frequency still on. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. From the WOR iog UT Dec 22 starting at 0131, from me: ``[WOR] XEPPM seems back --- While scanning for Pres. Zelenskyy`s speech on SW, I ran across some S7/S9 music on 6185 about 0047 - and it`s off/frequency minus like XEPPM used to be, about 6184.97. And nothing else scheduled. It was still missing when checked last night. Glenn`` --- replies: At 0156: ``Yep - I'm not hearing any readable audio yet, but there's definitely a signal there for the first time in weeks. It's a solstice miracle! Eric Fetters-Walp, Lake Stevens, Washington`` ``Hearing music on 6185 during a 0430-0440 check UT December 22. No announcements, but consistent with XEPPM programming. Signal weaker than typical XEPPM reception at my Houston QTH. Has been off the past three weeks. More checks needed! Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` At 0532: ``I was disheartened last night when checking for XEPPM, thought maybe they quit SW by this time. YES, tonight we are hearing a woman presenter here, a lot of talk about Christmas, some music and they are back. (Of course, Mexican Spanish). 73 - Rick in Arizona`` Barton gh` further chex: at 0338, undermodulated Spanish S7/9+10. 0728, no signal, so not yet all-night or until 1000v* as before. ``Dec 22 - Checking 6185, at 0735 UT, found no one there. Ron (Calif.)`` Howard (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2170) ** UKRAINE [non]. From the WOR iog UT Dec 22, starting with me at 0035: ``[WOR] Pres. Z. about to address Congress --- At 0030 UT Thu, coverage of Pres. Zelenskyy`s address to US Congress is about to start, and multiple TV networks are on it, like CSPAN1, MSNBC, PBS, CNN - for those only listening to SW, where what do you bet, not a single US SW station will find it worth airing. Glenn`` ``I am pleased to report Radio Martí appears to be carrying the speech with simultaneous translation in Spanish. Can hear it on 7435 and 9565 kHz at the moment (0048 UTC) 73 Ricky Leong, Calgary, Alberta, Canada`` ``No point in trying to hear VOA English anywhere at this hour. No active US private SW frequencies on it. At 0050-0055 I did a quick MW scan during his speech, and it was absolutely nowhere. Stations will not deviate from their talk, sports or whatever commercial format. If we had any public radio stations audible on MW, maybe there? Even less point in checking FM, except KOSU with NPR -- No, not even there. Glenn`` Pundits later compared this to Winston Churchill in Dec 1941 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2170) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2169 monitoring: confirmed UT Thursday December 22 at 0130 on WRMIs: 9395, S9+30/40 into Missouri SDR; 5010, VP S9+10 into same, but S9/+20 into Bonaire. Thanks this week to Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, who sends a generous quarterly seasonal check for Winter Solstice to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, Dec 22 at 0330 check, no signal yet from WTWW, tho WRMI Legends has skidaddled back to 4980. At 0541 via George McClintock: ``George is authorized usage of 5085 and 9475 kHz for WTWW. Regards, Tom Lucey`` of FCC. ``George, That`s a rather informal note -- Good; from when? Did not hear any 5085 tonight. Glenn`` ``His full e-mail is as good as a license to broadcast. George McClintock 12-22-2022``. WTWW back on 5085, Dec 22 at 2355, as George calls me to check on the spurs he`s working to eliminate: still there now and a bit stronger than last time, 5072.1 & 5097.9; SFA PPPP programming and stays on past 0206 check. He does not have programming arranged yet for daytime (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2170) ** U S A. 4980, Dec 22 at 0732, WRMI with TOMBS // 5010 et al. 4980 just resumed with Legends at 23-05 but now running it longer. Yet not as such on the skedgrid updated Dec 21. Other changes: WRMI-1 on 7730 to 160 degrees but BLANK 24h. WRMI-2 ALSO on 7730, 44 degrees to Europe, with wide variety of Systems and shows 24h! It now matches exactly what`s shown for WRMI-9 on 15770, also 44 degrees, 24 hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2170) ** U S A. 9329.761, Dec 22 at 0739, WBCQ/WLCR in English at S9/+10, way off-frequency the lowest yet. The winds here are howling, 40 mph gusts forecast, as intermittent noise appears on MW & SW, probably rattling power lines; and we are headed for extreme windchills like -24 F, and lows circa zero F, Thu & Fri. 9329.838 is where Maine SDR finds it at 1917 Dec 22. Despite proximity ought to be in skip zone, but S9/+15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2170) ** U S A. 13845 & 15825, Dec 22 at 1617, NO signals from these WWCRs. K index at 15 was only 3. Must be OFF or there would at least be JBA carriers. 12160 is still inbooming S9+30 and the other WWCR 9980 is also silent as it has been most days lately. Survey of other USignals finds normal reception from WRMIs, 13820 R. Martí, 15755 WINB DRM, even JBA 15555 USB WJHR. At 1652 I check Maine SDR for WWCR and it too is hearing nothing but 12160. At 1916, however, all 4 WWCRs are on and into Maine SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, Dec 22 at 0734, R. Vanuatu still here and VP. Ron Howard also reports it 0610-0731 with severe weather warning, and news about Fiji leaning more toward ANZUS rather than China (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0212 UT December 23

Thursday, December 22 2022
![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, since it`s Wednesday, Dec 21, time for another LRA36 check, as I`m up and at it by 1459: best Argentine SDR is offline so I try the four others: two get nothing, and two get VP S2/S3 signal at least enough to confirm it`s on, with prélude music, but signal vanishes already at 1505* before any talk/sign/on. Also check Uruguay remote, nil. Keep running an Argie with nothing but noise until I quit at 1542.
Just as well, as I expected them to be insufferable about some silly ballgame. Beyond me how proficiency at ballgaming by a few guys translates to national pride, anywhere, when there are countless other fields of endeavour which really matter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 284 MCW kHz, Dec 21 at 0738 UT, dash and QD, 500 watt ND beacon at The Pas, Manitoba. A few of the other Canadian Y## beacons also audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, Dec 21 at 0727, RHC S9+20 of dead air in English except for hum; 6165 with S9+10 of DA; only SW transmitters still on. Often it`s 6060 like that instead of 6100. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13700, Dec 21 at 1549, RHC is S9/+10 direct but no spurs. Something`s not always wrong at RHC. The Other Side: ``All about MSMEs in Cuba: who will own them and which ones will prosper? The creation of MSMEs is at the core of the Cuban government's economic strategy. What are they? Why are they gaining prominence? What are their chances of success? What Cuba do they represent? The series of articles we begin today answers these questions. Rafaela Cruz, La Habana 19 Dic 2022 - 18:40 CET Since Fidel Castro bequeathed absolute rule to the politically weaker Raúl Castro, we do not know exactly who makes up the inner circle of power in Cuba. That transition, in monarchical terms, was a metamorphosis from a centralized pharaonic system — Fidel ruled alone — to a late medieval kingship model, with a primus inter pares (first among equals) forced to share his power with and lean on key figures...`` https://diariodecuba.com/economia/1671471614_44132.html This article never explains what MSME means! I Googled it: ``Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)`` There must be quite a different term and abbr. in original Spanish; EMPM? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** INTERNATIONAL INTERNET. The Paul Winter Consort Solstice Saga, retrospective on YouTube was publicized to start at 0000 UT Dec 22, but I found it already playable earlier, so hopefully whenever indefinitely ondemand for convenience; via: https://www.PaulWinter.com It`s 2:48 of audiovideo. Greetings, Winter! As we in OK brace ourselves for record low frigidity (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Dec 21 at 0730, no JBA carrier detected from R. Kiribati, perhaps another silent Wednesday. Nor any other TP or TA split 9/kHz carriers audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7255-, Dec 21 at 0719 check, no VON signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Our annual pilgrimage around Enid to view Xmas lights, sound-and-light shows, UT Wed Dec 21 circa 0100-0230 UT. Singing Xmas Trees again in the oilwell lot at NE corner of Oak & Oakwood, with stereo sound on 89.5 FM, one of the few clearest lowband frequencies around here, very weak Part 15 range so you need to park right close to them beyond the chainlink fence. Music mostly Chipmunx -- ¡¡¡Alvin!!! The other one again at an otherwise dark residence in the Pheasant Run addition on the westedge off Garland: quite elaborate and better music variety including Mannheim Steamroller, stereo on 94.9 FM. Ruined only by Pistol Pete flashing on now and then, the shameful OSU mascot in this age of school shootings. Otherwise, lights only viewed in the upscale lake district neighborhood, just south of the KGWA 960 transmitter site which must ruin MW DX reception around there. Once again, I encourage others to report on their own area Part 15 FM Xmas lightshow activity. There must be a lot of it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Dec 21 at 2310, S9+10/20 into Maryland SDR, token English from REE, feature now about the annual Xmas Lottery, apparently a Big Deal in Spain for many years; 2324 Catalan song and interview singer about food market in Barcelona. 12030 weaker but sufficient, ME beam managing to modulate today. 11945 to SAm quite weaker; and 11685 to Africa, NO signal except RTTY. Attention split with TURKEY, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.002, Wed Dec 21 from 2300, VOT English succeeds today, VG S9+30/40 into UTwente, splitting my attention with simulSPAIN, q.v. It would be appreciated if VOT could arrange its AWOLs to coincide with REE`s on-days, MWF. Quick check of 5960 into Maryland finds it only S7/S9 but less of the CCCCCCI which molests it in Europe. Includes 2317-2322 `Ripping Files` [???] about criminal liability of AI - anticipating such a problem as they gain independence and self-awareness. 2330 discussing gas energy from Turkmenistan, and via? Azerbaijan. 2342-2348 `Feeling Supreme` on the benefits of pumpkin seeds, rich in anti-oxidants. 2348 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2353 sign-off with jumbled but correct English schedule. 2354 fragment of IS before cut off, uncovering XJPBS in Chinese from East Turkistan, standard denunciation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2169 monitoring: ``From: Richard Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees; Dear Glenn: Confirming World of Radio #2169, Merry Christmas/holidays, WRMI: 9395, 0130, 0157 (45443), (55343), 0059 , December 20 UT [Tue] 5850, 1044 (55434), confirmed. 1058, 5850, December 21 UT [Wed](Lemke, Richard -AB)`` Confirmed UT Wednesday December 21 at 0030, S9+10/20 on WRMI 9395 into Missouri SDR. Also confirmed UT Wednesday December 21 circa 1035 when I happen to awaken, the 1030, VG direct on WRMI 5850. Also confirmed Wednesday December 21 at 2211 the 2200 on WBCQ 7490, minus 55 Hz = 7489.945, S9+10/20 into Maryland SDR, S9+10 direct. 2229 minute of dead air, 2230 ID and `Tom Call Theater` filling an `*available timeslot` --- BTW on the WBCQ skedgrid I see that the Messianic trying to build a SW station in Sudan South now has his own hour on WBCQ, UT Wed 01-02 on 7490-: ``Operation Nehemiah Missions With Messianic Rabbi William Levi`` Next WORs: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html A noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated. Thanks to Ron Howard, Monterey CA, for a check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, ``Am sending it to you in memory of Brian Alexander (May 1, 1957 - Dec. 26, 2012). I once enjoyed his many African logs. Thank you for your many excellent contributions to our radio hobby over the decades!`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. From a series of real-time posts I made to WOR iog Dec 21: Surprise: WMLK in DRM on 9270-9275-9280 at 1554 tune-in, usual gospel huxter pontificating about what is adultery and what not, some dropouts, but S9/+10 into Maryland SDR. SNR 22v dB. I copy down all the other parameters. Label says it`s the Ampegon TSW 2300 transmitter. No spoken ID circa ToH. Presumably a test. FEBC finished with 9275 AM at 1600, but this overlapped. Nominal WMLK-AM sked starts at 1700. At 1610 switched to Johnny Cash, ``Ring of Fire``, in a loop. Still past 1620. At 1624 switched to other music with some dropouts: ``Amazing Grace`` on plucked instrument. Label says test from WMLK; antenna: curtain with double stacked dipole, xHE_AAC(A43456) WMLK EEP Audio 9.14 kbps When I first tuned in it was different: xHE_AAC(7B) WMLK Radio EEP Audio 7.46 kbps. SNR varying around 22 dB. Mode B, MSC 64 QAM, SDC 4 QAM 1627 text msg: Hello Nathaniel, how are you doing? Parameters have changed again: 13.78 kbps, etc. Some of the stuff displayed: ``Resistance to large delay/doppler spread`` DRM Mode D ILV L I have no idea what a lot of this means. ``TX: Ampegon TSW-2500D from Ampegon Power Electronics AG, Switzerland`` --- Note: earlier it read TSW 2300! Which is it?? 1637, besides service 1 only, adds 2 and 4 but disappear before can copy details. SDR freezes 1640, reload, a bit more, then WMLK signal off per S-meter, blank DRM readout. 1642 sig back on but nothing heard - because it`s now in AM, starting regular sked early with Yahweh stuff. Andrea Lawendel, Italy did not have enough to decode but heard via US remote, same one? Wonders if illegally broadcasting to USA only? I think, no more so than all the other US SW stations on AM with nominal external targets. DEJOM drops off AM air again at 1650. 1651 back on S9 with silent DRM, 9.14 kbps. And so it goes. That soon goes off too, and NOTHING further, DRM nor AM, as I let the SDR run 9275 background noise until 1830. Andy Lawendel replies: ``Just faint traces of signals on most of Italian SDRs. Better in Germany, best of all in Ireland, but still no audio (never above -13 dB, which is considered a fair minimum). It was during the "Ring of fire" slot, I didn't check again. Andy`` Wolfgang Bueschel reminds of this earlier from Bodo, DF8DX: ``But something is indeed happening. I'm flying to the USA tomorrow Dec 11 and will be at WMLK until Dec 22, to work off all the little unfinished business and do a DRM upgrade. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< The customer had ordered this later, but due to delivery problems with the equipment I could not finish it in the summer. Now all parts should be delivered. In my spare time and maybe on the side, I will also be active as ham radio operator KT3Q partly with the WMLK antenna on the KW {sic: SW?} stations. (df8dx Dec 10)`` Per QRZ.com: DF8DX Germany flag Germany, Bodo Fritsche, Rebbergstr. 6b, 5417 Untersiggenthal, Switzerland. 9275 not rechecked by me until 2211: still off - but by now supposed to be off; never back on today? DEJOM *never* has anything new to say, anyway, and DRM can`t fix that (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4980, Dec 21 at 2327, Xmasmx as WRMI Legends high-tails it back here after a brief run on ex-WTWW 5085, since George has reactivated and reclaimed that. Alan Roe checked the WRMI skedgrid which now shows 4980 straight 2300-0500, joined at other hours by a complex mix of some others for Legends: 15770, 9455, 9395, 7730, 5950, 5850. WTWW-2 has not yet come back up on 5085 by 2400, but eventually to be PPPP on SFAW; which used to be on WTWW-1 5830, not yet resumed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 770, Dec 21 at 0219 UT, Miles City ad during bandscan on caradio while wrapping up our Xmas lites tour of Enid. Ergo, KATL, Montana, no doubt still/again on ND day pattern and 10 kW day power rather than 1 kW night direxional NW. Without even trying for it, but from dominant peak soon faded down (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, Dec 21 at 0719, JBA R. Vanuatu still here rather than 7890, etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0026 UT December 22

Wednesday, December 21 2022
![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** CUBA. 5025, 5040, 10050, 10080, Dec 20 at 0719, no fundamentals or harmonix to be heard now. Something`s always wrong at RHC, RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11880, Dec 20 at 2224 amid supposedly scheduled and occasionally partially appearing English hour, NO signal now. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9439.995, Dec 20 at 2133, no signal of R. Cairo, English into UTwente. Something`s always amiss at Abis. If and when resumed, shall be elevated to egregious. Replying to my Dec 16 report: ``The Radio Cairo "humbuzz" consists of a 50 Hz tone and harmonics. On 16 December, at least, the 50-Hz, 100-Hz, and 300-Hz tones were typically dominant (see attached Audacity spectrum plot). Using multiple notch filters on a recorded audio file at just these three audio frequencies resulted in improved audio to the point that a discussion could actually be followed although it was tiresome. Still egregious. -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUATEMALA [non]. Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine --- In honor of the martyred GM of La Voz de Atitlán, 2390 kHz, off the air for many years, but soon to be completed, as on a recent KFOR-TV news item: https://archokc.org/shrine https://rothershrine.org/ https://kfor.com/news/local/blessed-stanley-rother-shrine-dedication-pushed-back-three-months/ OKatholix are pushing for sainthood. He was originally from the small town of Okarche beyond the opposite NW corner of OKC. There is also some memorial to him there. This has additional significance if not approval from me, since on my trip to Guatemala I took the boat across Lake Atitlán and saw the building of LVA, by then shuttered (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Tue Dec 20 at 0732, JBA TP carrier from R. Kiribati; also six other splits presumed TA: see UNIDENTIFIED (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. Too many typos in this item last report, as in too big a hurry to finish, missed proofreading. Replace as corrected: 6950 USB, Dec 19 at 2354, S7/S9 of pirate music, Xmassy? The OSOB = only station on band. 2356 misc. noises; 2359 song, no ID circa ToH; Dec 20 at 0005 SSTV beepery but very repetitive unlike the usual but the standard end-of-picture beeps at the 0009 end: then followed by a voice ID but so ``produced`` it`s unreadable. Many reports here of Thunder Chicken Radio https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,107021.0.html with several previous SSTVs but this one was a cartoon drawing of T.C. himself. Nothing more for a while and tuneout as evidently signed off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 12030, Dec 20 at 2221, S9/+10 of dead air. Got to be REE frequency to Mideast, off the back. 9690 to NAm is normal/nominal, S9+10/20 and fully Spanishly modulated; 11940 to SAm is S9/+10 with flutter; and no signal at all on 11685 to Africa, presumed off. Somethings` nonfunxional at Noblejas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.002, Dec 20 at 2302, unlike yesterday and often, VOT manages to make it to air today during news in English, VG S9+30/35 into UTwente; clear until CCCCCCI modulation from EAST TURKISTAN hits at 2310, well under but quite an annoyance and growing; 2311 `Review of the Turkish Press`; 2314-2326 `Weekly Commentary`, about Turkey rising as an alternative energy source. 2327-2329 some recipe, title missed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. See previous report, WTWW has already reactivated 5085. And Dave Zantow notes at 0249 UT: ``Glenn, I see the on line WRMI schedule grid now shows 5085 Khz between 0200 to 0500 UT with transmitter 4 (this was changed from earlier today when it was 4980). https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13Hra1coQGQAKDzn8QGeAqPuXbvFsn7umGzESGJQUx5k/edit#gid=0
Guess we will see what happens on Dec 22 UT Thursday on 5085 Khz? Ted R. must own / control the "wtww.us" web page domain? Glenn`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, Dec 20 at 0722, this WRMI is off, while 9395 & 9955 are VG; the 7s? At 0726, all 3 are on with TOM as BS refers to ``next year 2010`` -- beware of an apocalypse 13 years ago! 7730 is still again on tho blank 24h on the skedgrid, S9/+10 undermodulated; 7780, S8/S9 undermodulated; 7570, S9+20/30 loud; also on WRMI 5010, 5850; WBCQ 6160-; WWCR 4840. Unsynchronized from one station to another. We can`t ever get enough BS! This dead gospel huxter has attained a kind of immortality, like plenty of predecessors thru the human miracle of recording (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9329.8 approx., Dec 20 at 0723, WBCQ/WLCR remains on, English at S9+20/30; and at 1633 check too. 9329.80 approx., Dec 20 at 2227, S9/+10 of WLCR in Portuguese, so is it aimed at Brasil or not? PP often much worse here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9980, Dec 20 at 1631, WWCR-4 is off again instead of BSing; while the other three are VG: 12160, 13845, 15825 with sporadic E boost. 9980 still AWOL at 2228 but on with music at 2320 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Glenn Hauser logs December 18-19-20, 2022 |

Tuesday, December 20 2022
![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** CUBA. 5025, Dec 19 at 0428, R. Rebelde remains active S9/+10 but overmodulated distorted and nothing on X2 = 10050. Still at 0740 now S9+10/20 on 5025 only, still overmodistorted. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 5040, Dec 19 at 0430, RHC music in Spanish is only S5/S6, much weaker than normal. At 0739, 5040 is S8/S9 and undermodulated; while 2 x 5040 = 10080 is S9+10/20! I keep listening on 10080, and at 0741, DX/media program `En Contacto` theme and opening: topix to be history of the telegraph leading up to electronic communication, solar and geomagnetic activity, and cellular phones. Telegraph started in 1832 by a Russian, they claim, but I don`t listen to the rest of it. At this hour, of course, RHC Spanish is supposed to be off the air, but playing back what probably aired six hours earlier. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6060, Dec 19 at 0736, RHC English with S8/S9 of humbuzz only; 6165 with cleaner open carrier at S8/S9. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, Dec 19 at 1631, RHC is S9/+10 in suptorted Spanish. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9439.995, Dec 19 at 2139, no R. Cairo English into UTwente. Nor at later chex. Something`s always amiss at Abis (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** INDONESIA [non]. 7780, Mon Dec 19 at 0803, S6/S8 WRMI relay with music, anthem? 0804 VOI ID, but then into a song rather than ToH news. 2 am CST is far too late for me to be awake and no way I`m up for another hour to hear this (Glen Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Dec 19 at 0742, JBA carrier from R. Kiribati; also three other splits, see unID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA NORTH. 11710, Dec 19 at 1642, S7/S9 of sweet EZL music: must be VOK from that Paradise during French hour to NAm. Seems the same but JBA on // 9435. EiBi shows CNR1 Beijing site also on 11710 long hours including this, inconvenient if true (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA NORTH [non]. 9990, Dec 19 at 1640, Korean at S5/S7. It`s RFA via SAIPAN at 15-19 & 21-22 per EiBi (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7255-, Dec 19 at 0735, no VON signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6950 USB, Dec 19 at 2354, S7/S9 of pirate music, Xmassy? The OSOB = only station on band. 2356 misc. noises; 2359 soong, no ID circa TXoH; Dec w0 at 0005 SSTV beepery but very repetitive unlike the usual but the standard end-of-picture beeps at the 0009 end: then followed by a voice ID but so ``produced`` it`s unreadable. 9690, Dec 19 at 2315, token English from REE on Monday, S7/S9 into Maryland SDR, Amy Egan interview with Pauline --- about funding for artists. Not the solid bigsig; somewhat weaker but sufficient off back of ME beam on 12030; 11940 to SAm much weaker; no signal on 11685 to Africa (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [non]. 5960, Dec 19 at 2304, no signal from VOT English into UTwente. Nor at 2315 when XJPBS Chinese is on instead with no competition, also 2330, from EAST TURKISTAN, land of imperialist ChiCom genocide against Uighurs and other Moslems (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13563.5 CW, Dec 19 at 1626, PCO ID over and over from HIFER beacon in Pine, COlorado, and occasional long dashes. JBA but better than JJBBA CW trace on 13565, no doubt K6FRC California. Also with QRM from CODAR swirshes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15016 USB, Dec 19 at 1632, alfanumeric crypto message, S9+10 with self-imposed roar/whine, ending with ``44 characters, this is Acid Rain; out`` at 1633*. 8992 USB, Dec 19 at 1635 in continuing bandscan I happen to run across this again, S9+10 and time to copy it complete by fonetix: ``I say again: MQFWNCVC2EJYSIXLZ7SHAS3K7LUBXA this is Acid Rain, out`` to 1636*. Possibly I mixed up letter S with figure 5 in reading my copying; correxions welcome. But what do they really mean? EiBi calls these ``US Air Force Messages``, 24h available, also on 4724, 11175. The colorful tactical IDs change every day, or every hour? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [non]. 15180, Dec 19 at 1629, `Yankee Doodle Dandy` IS at S7/S9, 1630 opening VOA English with newscaster ``by remote`` soon attributing something to Reuters. Aoki shows 1630-1700 M-F is via Pinheira, SÃO TOMÉ in ``Sud`` language - I guess that means Sudanese dialect of Arabic, but WRTH 2022 had no such listing. Rather English as in EiBi. Strangely enough, not noticeably off-frequency! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2169 monitoring: confirmed Sunday December 18 at 2100 on NEXUS/IBA IRRS SW & MW, via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9+15/20 into nearby Noale SDR; no significant QRM. Also confirmed UT Monday December 19 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S8/S9 direct; fortunately back on air unlike 24 hours ago. Also confirmed UT Monday December 19 at 0400 on WBCQ Area 51, 6160 minus 65 Hz = 6159.935, S8/9+10 into NH SDR. Next: 0130 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html A noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated. 5130 minus 12 Hz = 5129.988, Dec 19 at 0424 into NH SDR, WBCQ R. Angela `Concert Hall` with complete opera Fidelio by Beethoven, has some brief intermittent 2-way QRM, lo fi, sounds like Russian language. WBCQ signal is fading down, so switch to a Rochester NY SDR increasing the skip distance, but does not help much, 0453 into Shakespeare sonnet (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330v, Dec 19 at 1637, WBCQ-6 still not back on air this Monday after a week off for heavy antenna maintenance, but projected by AW to resume today, and by end of week with full frequency flexibility at last. Altho numerous other bands and frequencies were registered originally, currently HFCC has nothing but 9330 except for some apparently deleted SPC Sofia relays. And FCC still has no B22 skeds up since A22! 9329.814V, Dec 19 at 2345, back on at S9/+10 but fluttery in Brazuguese, not solid signal and wobbling slightly, also still way off-channel (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, Dec 19 at 0217, ``WRMI Legends`` here S7/S9, // 9455. Didn`t we see this coming? 0232 DJ named Clark? promoting Xmas pixure contest as on wtww.us and then, Xmasmx. Still on at 0428 check. Leading up to: WOR iog 0431 UT Dec 18: ``USA. There are teasers being aired on WRMI Legends that 5085 kHz will be used for WRMI Legends very soon. Talk on the Legends Facebook page suggest that tuning of the antenna and transmitter could be achieved quickly. There is no indication as to which transmitter would be used, or hours of transmission or what effect this will have on other frequencies being used for WRMI Legends, or on other programmes being transmitted by the re-tuned transmitter. Alan Roe, Teddington, UK`` 0516 UT Dec 18: ``Hi George, Can you block them from using 5085, or would you want to? How are things going now? Glenn`` 0653 UT Dec 18: ``Glenn, Our return to 5085 is set for January 15, 2023. The 5085 transmitter is in total disrepair. Modules are being repaired. It is expected to return at 100 KW. George McClintock 12-18-2022`` and then I post his reply to the WOR iog. WOR iog: ``There is programming on 5085 kHz right now (0107 UTC, Dec. 19). "Feliz Navidad" by José Feliciano, preceded and followed by "WRMI Legends" identification. I was only able to see a carrier with my SDR at my location with no audio; went to visit someone else's KiwiSDR to hear what I described above. Things are going to get awkward if WRMI and the revived WTWW both intend to use this frequency at the same time … 73, Ricky Leong, Calgary, Alberta, Canada`` ``Thanks, Ricky for the heads up. 5085 with S9+10 signal into Masset, BC at 02:58 UTC tune-in. Classic WTWW programming. So, presumably, this is via a transmitter in Okeechobee? 73, Walt`` Salmaniw 0315 UT Dec 19: ``5085 apparently ex-4980 missing which was on 160 antenna like 9955, hardly ideal for inside NAm. This 5085 is much weaker here than the real WTWW was. // much stronger 9455. Glenn`` 0318 UT Dec 19: ``Glenn, of course, is correct. Gave a WRMI ID at 03:00. I agree that the signal was less by 10 to 20 dB compared to the "real" WWTW. 9455's signal into Masset is also very nice. Walt`` George McClintock of the real WTWW called me UT Dec 20 about 0030 to tell me that he has got 5085 back on the air already, testing with PPP audio at about 70 kW. He says WRMI can keep on 5085 tonight and tomorrow night, but WTWW takes over from Wed night = UT Thu Dec 22, also daytime on 9475, from #2 transmitter, and will stay on rather than waiting until Jan 15. New modulator cards to be delivered 12/21. Lots of them in #1 were burned up. Computers are also a mess, Ted refusing to supply passwords or cooperate otherwise. #1 will be activated later but #3 may not be restorable. He leaves it on a few minutes longer for me to check: Yes, PPP on 5085 blasting in here as before peaking 40 over 9 until cut off at 0038.6* UT. Also detectable were the +/- circa 13 kHz parasite spur carriers just barely audible about 5072 & 5098 like before. No sign of RMI yet on 5085 or 4980 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7570, 7730, 7780, Dec 19 at 0732 check, all three WRMIs are on // with TOM but not BS voice right now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9980, Dec 19 at 1640 and 1946 chex, WWCR-4 is OFF, TOMBS frequency; others normal at 1946, 12160, 13845, 15825. By next check 2352, 9980 is back on blasting BS at S9+30/40 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, Dec 19 at 0734, RV still here, JBA S5/S7, not on 7890 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA split MW carrier search, Dec 19 at 0752: besides TP 846 Kiritimati, likely sources: 882 Canary Island or Spain; 1215 UK; 711 Western Sahara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7612-USB, VP Dec 19 at 1624, 2-way in colloquial Spanish, cambio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0127 UT December 20
