You mentioned the setup is destined for Walt's cabin so I assume your Victoria antenna and attenuation and orientation are not what matters.
They don't apply to Walt's cabin, right?

With Juan de Fuca Strait just down the road from you, I would hope 
that your DU reception should be superior  to mine and to Colin's.

Iâve had a few email - my KIWI WEBSDR is not located at the University of Victoria -

Itâs located at my semi rural home about 4 km away.

Itâs only on a few hours a day - working out various connectivity issues with it â and getting the best antenna relationship with it.
