Hauser
** CUBA. 9700, July 9 at 0651, S8/9+10 of dead air no doubt RHC; at
least it`s a clean signal this time rather than garbage or basura.
Something`s always wrong at RHC.

11670, July 9 at 0654, unusually there is a second overrun, Spanish
talk and Cuban music, S7/S9 still going past 0700. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, July 9 at 0649, VON is on for a change, some
undermodulation next to 7260 Vanuatu (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6869.1 AM, July 9 at 0648, pirate here amid HSNL for
fourth late-night in a row. More unID reports on HFU:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,115785.0.html
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,115729.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 104.9, July 8 at 0126 UT as I tune across here on
caradio, fruitless search for Es FM DX, DJ exclaims ``104-9, Yikes``.
Aha, an unusual branding? Very, unfound in search of WTFDA DB, on this
or any frequency, anywhere. Yet a broad search on 104.9 yikes leads to
too many stations, none? nearby. #1 station usually heard here is:
KKWD 104.9 BETHANY OK VARIETY HITS ALICE 104.9 6.0 6.0 100.0 100.0
35-29-53 97-37-10 2CA7 Artist/Title HD is Off

But hardly a solid signal at that power and distance. Altho only 100
watts, this one is only about 20 miles west of us in Enid, but I have
*never* heard it, even from west side of Enid, and suspect it be
non-existent:
KEUC 104.9 RINGWOOD OK RELIGIOUS TEACHING EWTN 0.1 0.1 21.0 21.0
36-23-12 98-14-47
Such an outlet is on the Oklahoma Catholic Radio list, minus call
letters.

What does FCC say? Correspondence file includes:

``Consummation Notice
Section I - General Information

Date 10/15/2015``

Note that this goes back almost 8 years! Blowing up a coverage map,
site is just north of deadend intersexion of 6th Street and Short
Street inside Ringwood.

0134 UT recheck, Yikes has faded and now there is a mix of music and
gospel huxter? With Tulsa area signals enhanced, could be one of
these, the only other Okies with more than peanut-power:

KREK 104.9 BRISTOW OK RELIGIOUS TEACHING THE SONLIFE RADIO NETWORK 5.0
5.0 107.0 107.0 35-47-11 96-27-35
KRIG-FM 104.9 NOWATA OK HD COUNTRY K-RIG 104.9 8.3 8.3 172.0 172.0
36-43-37 95-46-18

About time for a jaunt into the country anyway, we decide to visit the
KEUC site and see/hear what may be there, on Saturday afternoon, July
8. Ringwood is quite a small town, but with a neat very well-stocked
grocery store, Richard`s, carrying items unfound in big Enid, another
reason for an excuse to visit.

From 1850 UT, driving west on US 412/60 tuned to 104.9 starting with
KKWD fringe if anything. By the time we get to Meno at 1911, an open
carrier in mono is starting to capture 104.9, and sure enough it`s
`local` in Ringwood. We easily find the site where Short Street [N/S]
deadends at 6th Street [E/W]: it`s the Ringwood municipal water tower,
one of those slim cylinders -- and it has antennas on it, violating
Separation Of Church And State. Still nothing but dead air, but I
never detected even that from Enid. Of course the coverage area with
100 watts is rather limited, and maybe if there be tropo, bigger
stations are still going to block it.

Bewaring a big white poodle which takes it upon itself to protect KEUC
with menacing charges and barx, but apparently blongs to an adjacent
trailer-house, we inspect the facility. There is a vertically
polarized 4- or 5-element yagi about halfway up the tower on the
`wrong` side of it, southwest, and pointed away from Enid. Two cables
run up the tower, past this antenna to the very top where there may be
some other very small antenna.
https://www.w4uvh.net/KEUC_104.9_Ringwood2.jpg

Maybe that`s for STL reception from somewhere. None of the other OCR
stations are close or powerful enough to provide a direct off-air
pickup for relay and there is no satellite dish. Or they could be
depending on internet feed with no way or desire to reboot it
remotely.

Adjacent is the transmitter shack, with a faded almost illegible
warning on the door that it`s a FEDERAL OFFENSE to disturb it, but no
identity as KEUC, OCR or anything. An OG&E electric meter on the side
is running. There is also a propane tank right next to it - would that
convert to emergency electric power, or just keep the transmitter from
freezing?
https://www.w4uvh.net/KEUC_104.9_Ringwood1.jpg
In any event, it`s all for naught as long as the air be dead. And back
in Enid I won`t be able to tell if and when it come to life. I can`t
help but wonder if the neighbor or any other Ringwoodians be aware
what this thing is for.

Altho the WTFDA FM DB as above has correct info for KEUC, as far as it
goes, you would never know it`s part of the Oklahoma Catholic Radio
network, nor some of the others on their station list, just
``religious teaching`` - not always with real city of license.
https://www.okcr.org/stations
One can go thru it and figure out which stations serve which city,
e.g. Walters south of ``Lawton``. We also see that there are *three*
LP stations on 99.3 in the OKC area, one of which must be one of OCR`s
two Spanish outlets. And there are *five* around OKC on 97.7. It`s
really getting crowded (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 11620 // 9550, UT Sun July 9 at 0042, VG direct, after
some music RRI starts `DX Mailbag` - acknowledging reception reports,
not of much use or interest, but no doubt fulfilling for the listeners
cited, such as from India. Exactly as shown for 10 minutes on
DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS, alternating with Listeners Letterbox (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28234 CW, July 9 at 0007, among a few JBA beacons making it
for very difficult copy, two letters in the call I perceive are #4D#.
Fortunately there is one VG match on the WI5V roster:
28.234 K4DP C COVINGTON, VIRGINIA # 2W, GP VERTICAL.

28279 CW, July 9 at 0018, almost complete JBA beacon call of WA4OT#,
ergo:
28.2788 WA4OTD C CARMEL, INDIANA # 5W, attic dipole New 19 Oct 2010.

I had a few other unIDs circa 28209, 28261.5 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2198 monitoring: NOT confirmed
Saturday July 8 at 2230:30 on WRMI 5850 OR 15770. Instead talk in a
very heavy African? accent, mostly a monolog by one guy, maybe
religious? That leaves us without any airing on the only WRMI
frequency toward Europe, and was also good for much of N America. WOR
still shown on the skedgrid. What in the world is this? See separate
log.

Confirmed UT Sunday July 9 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, JBA direct vs HSNL,
and noise QRM blast for first 14 seconds, but then can make out the
WOR theme.

NOT confirmed UT Sunday July 9 at 0130 on WRMI 9395. This `new` airing
has already been replaced by something else as on the sked.

Confirmed UT Sunday July 9 at 0326 about 9 minutes into so started
circa 0317 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+10/20 including HSNL into nearby
SDR.

Also confirmed Sunday July 9 at 1353 the 1330 on WRMI 9955, S9/+10
direct and somewhat undermodulated but sufficient unlike 48 hours ago.

WRMI 5850 OR 15770. Instead talk in a VERY heavy African? accent,
mostly a monolog by one guy, maybe religious? I do hear some English
words, also French; maybe Kriyol, or pidgin Nigerian??? This was
already running before 2230 with no break so started probably at 2200.
That leaves us without any airing on the only WRMI frequency toward
Europe, and was also good for much of N America. WOR still shown on
the skedgrid. What in the world is this?

I struggle to understand anything as must all other possible
listeners. At 2258 just before closing gives contact info including
phone 226-219-6891. 226 is country code for Burkina Faso! But preceded
with a mere 1- so must be North American, i.e. Ontario. And that full
phone number leads directly to:::

``What we do --- We provide free Food, Groceries, Toiletries and
Sleeping gears to homeless and vulnerable people in Greater Toronto
Area. Our vision is to reduce vulnerability and hardship faced by the
homeless and poor.``

It does not appear to be overtly religious, rather a local charity, so
why would they be on WRMI SW to Europe? There is no mention of it on
this extensive page:
http://wrmi.net/index.php/programming/

Searching on that name is rather fruitless, but not for Soteria
without the -h:

``SOTERIA - Greek Goddess of Safety & Deliverance ...
Theoi Greek Mythology
https://www.theoi.com › Daimon › Soteria
Soteria was the goddess or personified spirit (daimona) of safety, and
deliverance and preservation from harm.``

Therefore any religious aspect of this program must be
Greek-Mythological! This has been elsewhen on WRMI sked for quite some
time. The skedgrid still shows only three other times for Soteriah:
0000-0030 Tue-Sat on 5950; 12-13 Mon-Sat on 5850; and 0330-0400
Mon-Sat on 7730, i.e. frequency currently imaginary, so 22-23 on 15770
may compensate for that and likely to be multi-days rather than Sat
only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15770, Sunday July 9 at 1423, WRMI in unrecognizable
language. This hour only is Supreme Master TV. Maybe with video there
are translation captions? A sure way to drive away listeners if not
viewers, multi-lingual mixtures, without discrete portions in reliable
languages (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat July 8 from 1806 tune-in, S9 peaks
audible via Brasília and one of the Arg SDRs: LRA36 with CW ID, 1807
spoken s/on, multilingual IDs, 1808 opening recitation ``Pasaporte``,
1810 ``Uniendo Voces`` live? program with guests. 1814 about this
being relayed by an FM station in Catamarca, and which apparently
produced a segment to be run later. As usual, absolutely no signal
audible direct, not even a JBA RC. Despite good remote reception, not
monitored further as we`re off on a DXpedition to investigate KEUC.
Returned by 2106, no signal on any of those remotes, off already
despite nominal Saturday sked of 18-23 UT. Manuel Méndez, Spain caught
them direct, coming on air much earlier at *1714, presumably a musical
prélude. The other broadcasts scheduled are now Mon & Fri at

** U S A. 91.5, July 8 at 0121 & 0140 UT, my next rechex on caradio
*still* find open carrier/dead air, i.e. from KSNS, Medicine Lodge,
KS, see my previous report: I bet it`s been dead thruout the 5 hours
since 2044! Instead of ignorance and inattention by station staff, it
could also be that a person on duty at station collapsed or worse. IF
they have any local listeners, might call 911 and/or get the police to
make a welfare check. BTW, this OC/DA is in mono; I had not noticed
whether it were in $ tereo when modulative.

With the proliferation of Part 15 very low-power RF feeders in cars,
sometimes left on with no input, one must be careful not to take one
of these nearby for a genuine FM station. So I have made certain 91.5
OC/DA remains audible as I drive around Enid, and even on my jaunt out
to Ringwood, July 8 between 1850 and 2100 UT to investigate KEUC;
details in next report --- yes, KSNS *still2* silent some 24 hours
after first noted (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

night is on again late, bells and chirps right now, quite diverse
music/SFX noises. Never heard any announcements past 0701 but I may

** OKLAHOMA. Noticed this mixup in the WTFDA FM DB. The listing for
90.1 KUCO says it is a relay OF: KCSC-FM 95.9!
KUCO relay of:KCSC-FM 95.9 90.1 EDMOND OK USA HD CLASSICAL CLASSICAL
RADIO 90.1/91.9 100.0 100.0 256.0 256.0 35-34-24 97-29-08 4512
LISTENER SUPPORTED CLASSICAL MUSIC FROM UNIV OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA //
KBCW-FM 91.9 & KCSC 95.9

On the contrary, all programming originates at KUCO, fed to its two
satellites KCSC 95.9 in Woodward and KBCW 91.9 in McAlester. Perhaps
confused because the original call of 90.1 was KCSC - for Central
State College, not to be confused with something in Chico, California.
Some years after the school was renamed University of Central
Oklahoma, the 90.1 calls were changed in accordance. By then had also
acquired the relay facility on 95.9 in Woodward from KCCU Lawton, so
as a legacy, KUCO applied the KCSC calls to that. Standard legal IDs
used to add HD1 to 90.1 and 91.9 but not to 95.9; now dispensed with
that. IIRC, HDs of 90.1 include some totally unrelated gospel huxter
renter and/or a student station? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. July 7 at 1733 UT, tropo up away from Enid toward Tulsa,
OKC, providing BAD RF DTV signals on: 11, 14, 17, 28, 31, 34, 35, 36.
17 is notable since a DX signal must be baddenizing Enid`s only local
TV signal, K17JN-D, no loss since it spews 7 subchannels of
gospelhuxtering (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Friday July 7 at 2200, token English from SNR: news
about the bull-run at Pamplona festival until July 15: so far only
three Americans have been trampled, not by bulls but humans. 2207

never mind. VG direct and the other three frequencies audible to

July 7 at 1430 the first SWBC on WRMI 9955 --- but it`s just barely

had reduced modulation before but now it`s almost gone. Webcast level
seems OK. Emailed WRMI ASAP at 1445 but nothing was or could be done
about this before 1459. Following music fill also JBM. Webcast
continued with DW via WRN. Something`s odd at Okeechobee. See if it be
fixed when System B WRMI-3, 9955 resume at 2100? Not checked until
2330 when it also seems u/mod but also facing jamming and some other
noise, local? into Maryland SDR.

finds none, but notice that semi-local 91.5 is in deadair, still so
past 2044. Standard remark: if a station be so out of it that it does
not even have one staff member or another constantly monitoring for
dead air or any other problem, even if automated, and/or a
silence-sensor alarm, how can they expect any listeners to stick with
them, and more importantly, why should they deserve continued
licensing, especially if there be any other/better demand for the
frequency? WTFDA FMDB shows:

KSNS 91.5 MEDICINE LODGE KS CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN KEEP SINGING NEW
SONGS" 0.0 96.0 0.0 141.0 37-14-02 98-39-55 A4EC KSNS --- or ``Keep
Sending No Sound``! Anyhow there is a lot of spoken gospel-huxtering,
not just music when they manage to modulate. It`s just over the OK/KS
frontier. This one is also unusual in that it`s full power and
vertically polarized only, as the 0.0 means kW ERP-H and the 96.0
means kW ERP-V. Maybe that`s why I hear it better on the caradio.
However there is another 91.5 in KS likewise, KARF Independence (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, July 5 18/21 UT, I neglected to check
this Wednesday for LRA36, and have seen no other reports of it; here
is why, via Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain:

``15476usb, LRA 36, Radio Nacional Arcángel San Gabriel new schedule.
According with a whatsapp from the station here is the LRA 36 new
schedule: Mondays and Fridays from 1300 to 1500 UTC, Saturdays from
1800 to 2300 UTC. Mondays and Fridays they probably will issue the new
program "Ecos de la Antártida" and Saturdays the current program
"Uniendo Voces"`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2198)

** CUBA. 9700, July 6 at 0621, RHC with huge humwhine atop talk mod in
Spanish rather than English, only frequency still on air. Something`s
always wrong at RHC. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2198) The Other
Side:

``Cuba is a failed state, and there are at least 14 signs
demonstrating it ---
Before 1959 the economy was among Latin America′s best, with per
capita income higher than that of several European countries. Under
Communism, it became parasitic, and cannot even survive without
foreign subsidies.

Roberto Álvarez Quiñones Los Ángeles 05 Jul 2023 - 21:32 CEST

A few days ago I saw a photo of a group of people in front of the High
Court in London. They had turned out to support the lawsuit against
the Castro regime for its debt of 72 million euros. They carried a
large sign that read: "Cuba is a failed state."

True! This is one of the most powerful and patriotic flags that Cubans
can fly today because, without a doubt, Cuba today is a failed
state...``

** NORTH AMERICA. 6869.911 AM, July 6 at 0622, surprised to find some

Only two other logs of this as unID:

Quite a while since I have logged and reported any pirates except YHWH
and Eastern Star on 7.4 MHz; noisy summer condx, and usually otherwise
occupied during evening pirate primetime weekends (Glenn Hauser, OK,

Thanks this week to John, N9JL: ``Hello Glenn, I routinely listen to
your weekly podcasts, and really enjoy them. You consistently provide
your listeners with a broad cross-section of SW and BC band related
information. In only 30 minutes I know the stations I should be tuning
for over the following several days. Please accept this small
contribution in support of your on-going efforts. 73, John, N9JL,

** VANUATU. 7260, July 6 at 0627, RV is back after missing a couple
nights, island music, 0631 drumming intro to public notices segment,
S9/+10 but storm noisy. Ron Howard has received a prompt eQSL
specifying power at 10 kW -- as we have suspected, quadrupled from
last known listings of 2.5:

``Thanks very much to Pradip Chandar Kundu (Agartala, Tripura, India),
via ADXR (July 2023), for the contact info! Sent off a reception
report, with audio file, to Robert Warren < robertw @ vbtc.vu > and
received the attached e-QSL in about two hours. Please notice the
power "10 Kw." He is the senior technical officer at VBTC. Very happy
to have their current QSL! Ron California``. They are staying on 7260
after 0700, contrary to sked from Spain claiming 3945 and harmonix
