BEWARE RF-NOISY LAMP. A nice bright LED ring lamp on a totally
adjustable gooseneck turns out to be source of S9 RF noise across the
LF, MF and HF spectra on my nearby R75. As long as it`s plugged in,
whether turned on or not. It also has USB port we had been using for
charging a small fan, which makes it even worse. Here`s the
boilerplate info, not admitting explicitly to ``made in China``, but
surely is. We got it at, where else, Walmart:

INTERTEK 5005686 - Model: MTSLL 1038AHG
WM ITEM No. :MS3128087567007
Ratings: 120Vac, 60Hz, 4W
Date: 2109
CONFORMS TO UL STD. 153 [really!]
CERTIFIED TO USA STD. 022. 2 No. 250.4
ZheJiang YanKon Group Co Ltd
DRY LOCATIONS ONLY

Also with logo in a circle: ETL with smaller letters: C US cm listed.
Now it`s banished to elsewhere in the house and/or unplugged while

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Friday July 21 circa 1455, quick check
of Argentine remote finds NO signal from LRA36, despite this latest?
sked revision via Manuel Méndez: ``Whatsapp received 12-07 Translation
from Spanish; "This year we are on air for now, on short wave,
Wednesday and Friday from 1300 to 1800 UTC, and on Saturdays from 1800
to 2300. I also inform you that we are analysing being able to
broadcast in a few weeks from Monday to Friday, from 1600 to 2000 UTC,
and on Saturdays from 1800 to 2300 UTC``

15475.98 RC USB, is certainly on air Saturday July 22, S3/S5 via
Argentine remote from tune-in 1803: nothing but songs, no
announcements until finally at 1828 CW, 1829 LRA36 standard
multi-lingual s/on; 1830 opening recitation in Spanish, credit to Walt
Guzman? or was it Whitman, surely not. 1833 seems live now with
afternoon greetings on `Uniendo Voces` program, joint produxion with
RAE, Univ. de Quilmes; names of staff present; mention of a fiesta;
rebroadcast by 95.7 in Catamarca and another; 1844 mentions miércoles
19 de julio, so possibly this was recorded then; 1848 LRA36/RAE joint
ID, Fiesta Nacional de -- algo; 1859 songs; 1903 canned IDs, contact
info; 1905 weather check including temp -11 now; 1908 discussing
events this week in 1969, notably Apollo 11; 1915 songs; continues
chatting with music breaks; 1958 ID with reverb. I`m not fluent enough
to follow much of it in casual colloquial conversations, less than
perfect reception. Past 2000 now there is rapid noise QRM. 2006 ``RAE
Argentina al Mundo`` and multilingual ID. Not heard by 2130 recheck
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9395, 5010, 7780, July 22 at 0121/0129, these WRMIs are OFF,
and 7570 is JBA while it ought to be much stronger than 7730. Why? All
these confirmed ON: 5050, 5800, 5850, 5950, 7730, 9455, 9955, 15770.
This is evening prime-time when 12 of the 13 transmitters are supposed
to be active; one more, #1, is never running per skedgrid; and #7 on
17790 only in daytime (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7490), UT Sat July 22 at 0000, WBCQ webcast of `AAAWWW`,
seems like a new one. Allan admits right off, that whenever they go
political, people hate it, and then proceeds to do exactly that along
with Angela on phone. Basically their delusion is that in the past 2/3
years, terrible things have happened to our country since the elexion
was ``stolen``. And e.g., there would be no Russian war in Ukraine if
``Our President`` were still in office. Proving a negative? Enough,
turn off. But said quadricasting, so I do check out the 4 SW
frequencies, into Maryland remote:
3265.151, JBA
5130.442, S6/S7 in HSNL
6159.933, S8/S9
7489.928, S9+5/20
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5130.396, July 22 at 0635, JBA talk, music? in HNL until I
get rid of that ringlamp. At 0651 music, S3/S6, 0653 talk; 0657 seems
like ID for AM and FM stations, Planet; 0700 finally recognizable WBCQ
jingle ID!! 48 hours ago had carrier on 5130.21, and once before, R.
Caroline programming.

Note how closely this match the WBCQ measurement a few hours earlier,
5130.442. The R. Angela transmitter was never so far up, only a little
bit down, so presumably another test of another unit. Has AW said
anything about this on air, on twit or on website? BTW, strangely
enough, there is another non-pirate OOB broadcaster closer to 5130.0,
Kyrgyzstan, unlikely to be confused with, I hope (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, July 21 at 2014, RHC in French, S4/S7. WRTH Update
July 14, already a week old! shows 2000-2030 French only on 15140, to
NAm. I also check 15140, but its air is dead tho about same rating
S4/S7. EiBi shows 11760 is supposed to be in a break 20-21 UT, or
starting earlier with some irregulars. Aoki shows 11760 off at 18-21.
No two schedules will ever match, including on RHC own website - at

** SPAIN. 17855, Friday July 21 at 2200, token M/W/F English from SNR

Previews to be about a comic artist, and Spanish becoming the #1
foreign language studied in UK, surpassing French: I know I`ve heard

Before 2200 a bandscan also hit 17715 and 15520, but not 11670, off or

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2200 monitoring: altho still on the
websked, again this Friday July 21 at 1430, NOT on WRMI 9955. Last
week something unID in Spanish; this week also Spanish, Argentine
accent and orientation, about FIFA? So apparently RAE relay. No ID or
wrapup before chopped to WRMI ID at 1459. Anyhow 9955 JBA direct, poor
via Maryland remote so I also bring up the 9955-only webcast. Here the
audio sounds like an off-air SW relay, which we never expect to hear
on WRMI. 1500 webcast goes to DW Afrika via WRN; 9955 to music and
bibling, no doubt TOMBS and not turned off by 1503. Something`s odd at
Okeechobee. Sked for System B 9955 shows 1430-1500 includes other
media programs, `Wavescan` Mon & Sun, `SW Radiogram` Tue, `Hobart RI`
Wed, `Frecuencia al Díia` Thu. Are all these blown away too? I have
not checked.

** OKLAHOMA. Research on KVIS, 910, Miami [``Miamuh``] in the NE
corner of OK, which has changed format in the past year; to update
entry in the next NRC AM Log, to be published in next few weeks.
Editor Wayne Heinen needed info by July 20, altho possible further
changes to press time.

May 27: KVIS-910 Format? Saw a report today that says KVIS is now C&W
from GOS/REL. Anyone on the [IRCA] list able to confirm or deny it?
Website
still has the “King’s Vision” logo but the stream doesn’t work. 73
Wayne Heinen N0POH, Editor, NRC AM Radio Log, Aurora, CO

gh: I monitored it May 29-30, see my previous reports not repeated
here. Now in July, I can`t get anything vs summer storm levels plus
high local noise level about S9! So I asked our monitor in Tulsa,
Chris Krug, to check, and here is our correspondence about it:

July 8: Hi Chris, I wonder if you could check something out, at your
convenience in the next week? For the NRC AM Log we are trying to
determine the current slogan/ID and format of KVIS 910 Miami OK. I
have a hard time hearing it especially with the summer/storm noise
levels. It`s same direxional pattern day and night and looks like it
would favor Tulsa. Tnx,
Glenn

July 9: Things are great here Glenn! I`ve been listening this morning
since 1220 UT, seems to be a non-stop loop of Christian soft rock
(actually, every song sounds very much like the last). I was able to
Shazam a couple songs (“Testimony”-Kate Hill 1253, “Snakes in the
Grass” - Kate Hill 1256), no ID at the BOH nor the TOH. Still going at
1307, no announcers between songs and no ID thus far. I’ll check more
through the week. 73 Chris KC5IIE

July 15: Well, Glenn, I wish I had something definitive to add here. I
listened each day for the past week at various times of the day,
sometimes in the shack and from my truck. When on the air, they play a
non-stop loop of Christian pop music. I did note however, on Jul 11
(1200 UT) there was just a carrier with no programing. They were back
on the 12th, but completely gone (no carrier, no programing) at 1500
UT on Jul 13. Back on 1145 UT on the 14th, but I did note an empty
carrier again at 1300 UT later that morning. They are back on this
morning (Jul 15). It seems like there’s a lack of human oversight
here… Have a great week! Chris KC5IIE

July 16: Chris, Many tnx for all your monitoring. Deadline is July 20
so if you have anything to add --- like if they ever announce or ID.
That`s the same situation I had when I did hear it for over an hour
several weeks ago [all music, album trax with pauses, no announcements
or IDs whatsoever for over an hour including hourtops]. Lately too
much storm noise. 73, Glenn

July 17: Sure thing Glenn, I checked it a couple times yesterday and
will continue to do so through the week. It seems to be audible after
630 AM CT; I haven`t been able to copy in the evenings. Have a great
week! 73 Chris KC5IIE

July 19: Interesting change this morning on this. I tuned in at 1132
UT to hear the close of “Headlines Through a Catholic Lens”, followed
by discussion of daily prayer. The signal was very tough to copy, but
I believe I heard “This is Catholic Radio News” at 1143. The signal
pretty much gone by 1200 (I was hoping for that elusive ID). This
afternoon they’re back to nonstop music. Google shows the Catholic
Radio Network is based in KC, MO and has affiliates in Kansas,
Colorado and Missouri, no reference to KVIS though, and no affiliate
on 910 kc. I’ll check it out again in the AM. 73 Chris KC5IIE

July 20: False alarm, Glenn, the station I copied yesterday (and
today) is KATH in Frisco, TX, TOH ID with slogan “Radio for your
Soul”, affiliate of
the Guadalupe Radio Network at 1200 UT. I think KVIS is still playing
nonstop music (as I copied late yesterday). 73 Chris KC5IIE

Ada; 10-2 KTEN-CW; 10-3 KTEN-ABC; all in solid so Enid local K17JN-D
must be off. Meanwhile have had BAD signal on 17, which may also have
been KTEN before it got a boost. Fixed antenna toward OKC also favors
Ada almost.

Reminds me of KTEN`s situation long ago in analog era really on 10:
one signal, but sharing NBC and ABC programming, apparently
cherry-picking. Networx must have put up with it, as was long a
2-station market with KXII 12 Ardmore, which also did a share, IIRC,
CBS and NBC. At least without cable, this area a bit too far from OKC,
and DFW. In this opening also some of the regular Tulsans (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, WOR)

19 at 2200: ``Re: [WOR] No English from Spain tonight --- I asked and

KD9OWT/B 10M BEACON
I am currently operating a coordinated CW propogation beacon on the 10
meter band at 28,214,700 MHz. The construction of the beacon was a
collaborative effort between myself and my father N9JL.

The beacon consists of a beacon keyer circuit that uses an Arduino Uno
to key the radio. I programmed the arduino to transmit the location of
the beacon (EN51VM) as well as my callsign. The beacon operates at a
power of 5W using a Cushcraft ASQ-10 square halo antenna mounted
approximately 20 feet in the air.

** U S A. Monday July 17, DXMAPs show some sporadic E FM DX reaching
OK, so out to the car in the not yet too hot garage, on the Nissan
Sentra 2004 stock caradio with fender vertical antenna only, so no
antenna manipulation but disfavoring horizontal-only stations, if any;
all logs in real time with my own ears, one frequency at a time, no
RDS capability, no recording, no internet for stream comparisons; but
research later from my scribbled notes, mainly the excellent WTFDA FM
Database, also in general searching if needed.

All times strictly UT! Numbers just before geo coordinates are kW ERP
and antenna height above average terrain in meters. Identical horiz
and vert figures, u.o.s. Last figures are distances in km/stmi
city-to-city so approx., not site-to-city, from distancefromto.net.
Showing distance does not necessarily make a log more definite, but
FYI.

I do not count stations, states or anything, what`s `new` or not, and
am not in a competition. Each DX log I view as a potential learning
experience. Clarifications, correxions welcome. All times strictly UT!
In four sessions, 1554-1640, 1658-1720, 1759-1817, 2026-2108.

As happens too often, instead of Es in the ~1000 mile range, I`m
getting tropo from no further than Shreveport, but still plenty of DX!
No Es until the fourth session, and only one definite log at the end
of this report, from WBJC 91.5 Baltimore.

Altho there is a field, MODE, for this in the WTFDA FM Database, it`s
often missing. This and misc. other info should update the FMDB if
editors take note of my logs:
