** CUBA. 9700, Aug 17 at 0648, drama in American English, completely
produced with sound effects, NOT typical RHC programming, but this has
got to be RHC transmitter extension, huge S9+20/30 rather than some
pirate. Also an undercurrent of Spanish audio. Perhaps site plugged
into wrong program feed, even something off satellite? Keeps going
past 0700 with no break, when I`ve got to quit. Something`s always
wrong at RHC.

Paul Walker, Alaska, was also hearing this: ``R. Havana Cuba Stoops To
A New Level Of... I'm not sure what to call what I heard last
night/this morning. They were broadcasting English language movie
audio last night in the 0700 UT. Not just snippets, but an entire
Robin Williams movie. The slightly odd but not shocking thing was, RHC
program audio was heard under the movie audio. The movie audio was
quite well heard, clean, easy to understand. The program audio was way
way under that barely rising to barely detectable levels. Even after
9700 should've signed off, it continued on, but solely with audio from
another movie. Not sure what in the world was going on!``

I did not recognize Robin Williams, but this was not a comedy. I
recall hearing a similar anomaly at least once before, but difficult
to find among all my RHC logs. Maybe the ops were watching a movie in
the shack, mistakenly putting it on the air?

Paul replies: ``A friend and I were texting as we both DX'd, he in
Mobile Alabama. He identified it was Robin Williams as I wasn`t at my
radio at the time, but I rushed over to it; and I would've recognized
the voice as Robin Williams shortly, if my friend hadn`t told me. In
continued listening my friend was even able to ID the movie, "Cadillac

WRMI 9395, S8/9+5 but noisy into UTwente.

NOT confirmed Wednesday August 16 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -72 Hz =
7489.928 and S9+20 into NH SDR and webcast. After WHVW show until
2100, both went to dead air, and still dead at 2402! Hello? Emailed
boardops at 2103 but no reply, no fix. While letting them run in
silence, I listened to other stuff with modulation, such as
`Composer`s Datebook`, SNR.

watts day/1000 night in last year`s NRC AM Log, but it`s had lots of
problems as recounted six times this year in NRC DX News with FCC
info, most currently the Aug 14 issue: ``1340 KJMU OK Sand Springs –
Granted STA, D1 125 from backup transmitter``. And previously: ``1340
KJMU OK Sand Springs – Silent since Jan. 8; on the air with U1 125/250
May 24.`` Supposedly Spanish; radio-locator calls it Radio La Raza,
which of course is not to be taken as racist. About the SAH, mwoffsets
has no entry for any OK but KGHM, which was 0.4 Hz high as of

again today. Wonder if TOMBS has deliberately cut back? They never
understood the pointlessness, wastefulness of many duplicative
frequencies on US SW stations, but they were rolling in dough from
deceptees.

Transmitter sked dated June 1-August 31 still shows 9980 at 1200-2400.
But program sked dated August 1 admits it`s OFF AIR M-F 7-9 am & 11
am-3 pm Central, misconverted like everything as 13-15 & 17-21 UT.
Which one are we to believe? On weekdays there are several other
huxters, even Tony Alámo on WWCR-4, but Sat & Sun 5890/9980/7520 are
24h nothing but TOMBS.

Aug 15 at 2018, 9980 is back on already with `Financial Survival`,
which is at ``3:00P`` Central, so if you read that as CDT instead of
CST, it`s correct while ALL the UTC in the right column are WRONG, and
must be read as one real hour earlier than shown! After all these
years, WWCR still hasn`t understood UT conversion.

Reminds me of WINB 9265 several weeks ago, with similar confusion,
making it hard to correlate what was being heard with schedule. Now
they have an August 6 version showing correct 4-hour difference
between EDT and UT. NO, it`s still a mess. At 2300 English intro to
some Spanish huxter from Texas. Sked shows no Spanish now, but
2230-2400 `The Essentials of Life and Wellness`. Listening to webcast.
O, o, at 2305 he switches to English. No more info at WINB about that
show but search on title leads to a Dr William Wong, about health and

are too far, and AR is 90 degrees away, also too far; therefore KRMP

Bâton Rouge; radio-locator in Las Vegas NV. Graveyarder of course 1/1
kW ND and the only 1490 here in daytime. Maybe high winds in storm to

** OKLAHOMA. 1570 kHz, Aug 14 at 1823 UT, JBA Spanish in HNL, i.e.
KTUZ Catoosa near Tulsa. Its FM is back in OKC on 106.7 with a much
better signal here. Same call applies to RF 29 TV ``Shawnee`` with

new opener for token English, a montage of multi-lingual IDs. Begins
with program preview, and acknowledging a listener, William, in N
America, another new angle. Again it`s Amy Egan and ??? Quintana. 2202
news. Deadline for forming new government is this Thursday following
uncertain elexion in July; if not, another elexion in December.
Heatwave in Canarias; water shortages everywhere. Stories punxuated by
musical stingers. 2209 invites contacts. 2210 some TV show, Game of
Thrones, filmed in Cáceres, and its impact; constant musical
undercurrent. At 2225, one of them says ``this concludes my time at
SFR; farewell!`` Now was that Hélena Rigobert or Amy Egan. I wasn`t
paying enough attention for this surprise despedida. 2226 story about
a singer who was fined for going topless, and her defiant remarx.
Marilín [sp?] Quintana and Amy Egan wrap up the show, so the departer
must have been Rigobert. That also explains why Quintana is newly

off the air today, until 2255.5*, including `Weekly Analysis` ending
at 2221 but I`m mainly attentive to `Ginga Brasil` this hour on WBCQ
7490- webcast. I do explore exact frequency readouts, this time on the
NA5B remote which I often use. It shows -43 Hz while UTwente shows
+8/9 Hz as usual. Then I try WWV into NA5B, 15000 -64/67 Hz and 10000
-44/46 Hz. Obviously it`s miscalibrated, the error proportional to the
frequency. One should not report exact frequencies from this or any
remote without first checking calibration with WWV every time. Or at
least favor SDRs with a good track record for accuracy (Glenn Hauser,

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Aug 14 at 2155, VOT IS already running, VG into
UTwente, so not off the air today, but until 2230 I`m attentive to
SPAIN instead, which is a lot easier to understand in English. VOT is

next few years by different nations. Segment theme music: is that the

Virginia SDR which shows frequency jumping around plus 14/47 Hz! Must
be the rx as UTwente shows it steadier around +9 Hz. 2252 usual
defective s/off by badax. 2254 first notes of IS allowed to play once

axual monitoring. At same time, confirmed on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1323 kHz, S9+12 into nearby SDR, and also on WRN Europe webcast.

Confirmed UT Monday August 15 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into
Louisiana SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday August 15 at 0300 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160
-67/68 Hz = 6159.9325, S9+5/20 into NH SDR which is accurately
calibrated compared to WWVs. Next:

** U S A. 7490-, Sunday August 13 at 2300, especially since CBS-TV `60
Minutes` is going to run more than an hour late due to stupid
golfgame, I stay on WBCQ webcast after `Ginga Brasil` for Harry
Shearer`s `Le Show`, but stream stops at 2302*. I bring up 7490 itself
into Maryland SDR, and it`s also off. Then find 6160, 5130 and 9330
are also off. Must be total power failure at Monticello; of course I
don`t know for sure whether the other frequencies were axually on
until then. By 2312, webcast resumed but not 7490 until *2314 carrier,
*2316 add modulation, and staying on rest of hour. NA5B remote shows
7490 -106 Hz, but we know it`s miscalibrated, see TURKEY. Alexandria
VA is closer at -71 Hz as it puts WWV at 10000 +3/4 Hz, 15000 +5/6 Hz.
9330 still off at 2324, and at much later check 0324 Aug 14. At 0215
August 14 I try the W1NT in NH, which has WWV on 5 and 10 MHz within 1
Hz or less. And 6160 as -67/68 Hz = 6159.9325 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9980, Aug 14 at 1816, WWCR-4 is OFF, no BS! Other three
nominal, 12160, 13845, 15825. Something`s not airing in Nashville. But
2132 check is back on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1130 kHz, Aug 14 at 1821 UT, dead air from KLEY Wellington
KS; still dead at 2020 on a different radio. From previous
performance, this could last for days - and nights of open 250 W
daytime power carrier rather than ONE WATT night license. Why would
FCC ever license any non-part-15 station at such low power? (Glenn
