Tnx to Terry Colgan of Texas Radio SW, and to Mick Delmage for some recordings off WRNO of WOR 322 & 342 from 1986, to be presented shortly at 0000-0100 UT Sunday August 27 on WRMI 5950. I don`t know what all I said way back then but started with a report on R. Baghdad  --- You are invited to hear these historic emissions. 73, Glenn Hauser

Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Friday August 25 circa 18, 19 and 20 UT
chex, no signal today from LRA36 into Argentine remote (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** AUSTRALIA. 28487 USB, Aug 25 at 2322, VK2BY, calling CQ and
contacting an N4. One of only two phonesigs on band, see CHILE.
QRZ.com: ``VK2BY Australia flag Australia, Bradley Devon, 8 Bruckner
Place, Claremont Meadows [NSW] 2747 Australia`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CHILE. 28415 USB, Aug 25 at 2321, CE2TP contacting an N1 station.
No beacons audible on 10m, and only one other phone, see AUSTRALIA.
QRZ.com: ``CE2TP Chile flag Chile ALEJANDRO GUSTAVO TOLEDO SCHIAFFINO
( Jano ), Olmue, V Región, Chile`` with photos of equipment, him on
his green Ninja Kawasaki (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 21490, Aug 25 at 2330, JBA wobbly carrier the OSOB; also
18970 & 18900- Chinese talk S2/S3; all no doubt CNR1 jammers vs Sound
of Hope. At least they serve as propagation markers on otherwise empty
bands (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Aug 25 at 0637, RHC Spanish S9+20 with squeal,
tonight`s extra-expanded frequency. Something`s always wrong at RHC.
The Other Side:

READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW
August 25, 2023 FINANCE
The Black Market, Cash and Freedom in Cuba

Those who want a free Cuba must embrace and sustain the black market,
just as those who want a subjugated country fear and seek to destroy
it by eliminating what makes it possible: cash.
RAFAELA CRUZ | La Habana ...
https://diariodecuba.com/economia/1692893135_49346.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15230, Aug 25 at 2340, RHC S6/9+5 but suptorted, music sounds
// 11760 which is undermodulated distorted, with squeal, S8/S9.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9710, Aug 25 at 2354, S9 open carrier, probably RHC sked
until 0000 rather than CRI `Portuguese` via Kashgar to start at 0000
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.994, Aug 25 at 2135, R. Cairo is on, S9+25/45 into
UTwente, but undermodulated and extremely distorted; I can perceive
the talk as English, 2143 into wailing ME music, Qur`an? But the
Fribbath has just ended by local time past midnight, or rather way
past sunset. Would be nice if not so distorted. 2153, ``Ladies and
Gentlemen ... peace be upon you.`` Something`s always egregious in
Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 27185.0 AM, Aug 25 at 2325-2329, country song,
``Okeechobee Purple - cotton mouth`` part of lyrix. Local Enid CBer at
S9+25 with unreadable comments and intermittently maybe plugging into
FM station but I don`t have FM handy to check for // (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 104.7, Aug 25 at 0455 UT, dead air in $ tereo, strong
solid signal as if local. Only anomaly as I rushed out at 0450 to
check for sporadic E, as Randy Zerr in Nevada had just reported Enid
with an MUF of 90 MHz, on DXMAPS. Abruptly cuts on modulation at 0500
as KQSN Ponca City and into `Granger Smith After Midnight` a
nationally syndicated show. KQSN is normally the primary fringe signal
on 104.7 but area tropo is up. Something bit me on ankle on way to car
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Fri Aug 25 at 2200, token English from SFR, VG
S9+10/30 into Maryland SDR; first news item about The Kiss,
controversy about a soccer official kissing a player after a victory:
calls for him to resign but he refuses. 2207 Justin Coe is finally
heard again, back from holiday? Or repeat? Interview about an
``Authentic Flamenco`` world tour this year of 700 performances; //
17715 & 15520 somewhat weaker but sufficient; 11670 as always in 4th
place, S5/S8 vs splatter and noise (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Aug 25 at 2200, VOT not off the air, VG S9+30/40
into UTwente; 2215 music not very distorted. 2222 `Weekly Analysis``:
negotiations between Turkey and Syria, assessment by a prof.
Normalization would be boldly unrealistic, with YPG and PKK involved.
At least this is read by OM with good English and dixion. 2249 `Did
You Know That`, by badax something about different kinds of milk. 2253
s/off and fragment of IS to 2255*, no finesse. Something`s always
erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

NY, who sent a postal MO to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
[also for checks on a US bank], ``toward your work and presentation of

UNIDENTIFIED. 11785, 11771, 11765, 11756, 11751 down to 11731, Aug 25
at 2347, very amorphous but strong noise blobs peaking very
approximately. Altho 11760 RHC is on with its own problems, I suspect
these are coming from Brasil 11780 which is also very strong and has
gone haywire in the past (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Aug 24 at 1719, LRA36 is on again,
this Thursday, first tuning at this hour into Argentine remote, song
at S7/9+5.
At 1804 still song; 1808 YL talking about murder of a reporter in
1997y; 1810 as ``Estudio 9``; 1811 ``Uniendo Voces``, credits Adrián
Korol of RAE, then reading a scripted story with music background;
1859 and 1939 still going, but gone by next check 2024. I have not
been checking for it every morning or afternoon, but may well be on
more than we have noticed. Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, was also
hearing it today at 1810-1843 and ``Also on air 22-08 Tuesday and
23-08 Wednesday at about the same time`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF
RADIO 2205)

** CUBA. 11775, Aug 24 at 0620, weak pulse-jamming, Cuban style;
stronger PJ still on 11860, 11930 vs no Martí. I remember that long
ago, 11775 was a R. Martí frequency. Yes! it`s listed in 2005 WRTH on
page 605. The Cuban jammers also have a very long ``memory``
still/again jamming frequencies abandoned ages ago by RM. We also
remember that 11775 was the day frequency of Caribbean Beacon,
Anguilla carrying nothing but Dr Gene Scott - maybe RM did not start
using it until CB vanished; or certainly coördinated not to conflict.
Thus any frequency ever used by opposition to Cuba is ruined forever.
Currently in A23 per EiBi, the only users anywhen of 11775 are Chinese
program jamming and Sound of Hope. Aoki shows also CNR6 and CRI at
times --- and incredibly! STILL Caribbean Beacon, Anguilla at 10-22,
as a G=Great Britain entry!! And also long-gone 6090 the other 12
hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2205)

** COLOMBIA. 10125, Aug 23 at 0641, I continue to check for HK3QQ
Bogotá, in case he resume despite expired license, and now I do JB
hear letter A in CW, as if starting another keyboard sequence -- but
no SDFGHJKLÑ follows; something else? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9535, Aug 23 at 0638, RHC`s overtime channel tonight, none
others found on any band. S7/S9 but just a trace of modulation, can`t
discern language. EiBi shows 05-07 on 9535 from Bejucal is irregular,
and nothing else on 9535 at this time. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Aug 23 at 2145, R. Cairo, S9+20/35 into UTwente,
undermodulated, distorted with hum, ME music, 1/3 into nominal
sesquihour in English. 2148 announcer talking, unreadable. Something`s
egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 6185-, Aug 23 at 0658 tune-in to deadair from XEPPM, but
it`s just a pause, as then multiple IDentities starting with
``Cultura, Mil Sesenta AM...`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 101.5, Aug 23 circa 2045 UT, still dead air from KOCD
Okeene, as has been since at least Aug 9 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 24, Aug 23 at 1510, 1615, 1710, KOKH ``Fox 25`` OKC is
off the air again. And so is its sibling Sinclair station, RF 33,
KOCB, ``CW 34``. The two have exactly the same coördinates in the NE
OKC antenna farm: must be due to tower work or some issue there.
Rabbitears.info shows both horizontally:
NAD83: N 35° 32' 58.2", W 97° 29' 19.1" (35.5495, -97.488639)
But different vertically, not HAAT, not significant? Feet:
KOKH: 1585 agl 2717 amsl
KOCB: 1526 agl 2657 amsl
IIRC, 1572 feet was the astonishing ``world`s tallest`` height of
KWTV-9 in the 50s. We are still seeing both Sinclairs on cable in
Enid, as Optimum gets OKCs via fibre-optic or something, not off-air
pickup anyway. I see nothing on either station`s website about being
off the RF air, who cares? As they also live stream:
https://okcfox.com https://cwokc.com/
``The stations' studios and transmitter facilities are co-located on
East Wilshire Boulevard and 78th Street on the city's northeast side.
Wikipedia``. Next check at 1830 UT, both back on at normal VG level
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN [and non]. 17855, Wed Aug 23 at 2200, token English from SNR,
VG into NH SDR; also 17715 and 15520 just as good, but 11670 with
squeal and splash from 11660 music which must be CRI French via East
Turkistan, std. denunciation. Previews feature about women`s football.
I say: Yes, women should be equally able to waste their lives playing
stupid ballgames! News starts with fires in Tenerife, Greece. 2210
about a photographic exhibition featuring neglected black people; then
on to history of WFB in Spain, facing discrimination in earlier years
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Aug 23 at 2200, VOT English not off the air, VG
into UTwente, S9+40 but somewhat distorted. 2213 `Review of the
Turkish Press` about TRNC. 2215, two-minute multilingual ID filler
reel. Just for a change, they should identify in English each language
one by one for our edification. Many we can recognize, but telling
various Turkic or Slavic languages apart is challenging. 2217 music
break. 2221 `Weekly Commentry` repeat of the one yesterday already,
and still almost incomprehensible tnx to the badax. This and TRNC on
`ROTP` make me wonder if the whole hour be a rerun. Off the air
shortly after 2300 check (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2204 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees.
Dear Glenn: Confirming World of Radio #2204, notes, loggings, WRMI:

9395, static in area, 0030, 0043, 0058 (45433), 0058, August 22 UTC
2023 [Tue]
9395, 2330, 2358, 2359 very weak, August 22 UTC 2023 [Tue]
(Lemke, Richard -AB)``

Confirmed Tuesday August 22 at 2348 the 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9/+10
direct.

Did anyone hear the Wed Aug 23 1000 and/or 1030 WORs on Unique R,
Australia, 5035-USB?

Confirmed Wednesday August 23 at 2127 the 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -71 Hz =
7489.929, S9+10/20 into NH SDR. Next:

0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
