The Kansas Good Neighbor Operation Celebrates 90 Years On The Air |
|
Wednesday, May 27 2020
KGNO 1370 used to be easy here as you would expect for 5 kW day power ND at 150 miles, but have not been able to hear it at all, day or night, for years. Must be severely underpowered. Are they going to celebrate or even acknowledge that? 73, Glenn Hauser, Enid On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, 02:26:49 PM GMT+1, Paul B. Walker, Jr. <walkerbroadcasting@gmail.com> wrote:
The "Kansas Good Neighbor Operation" is Dodge City's First Radio Station, signing on July 1st, 1930 meaning it turns 90 years old in 2020!
It signed on with 100 Watts on 1210 and 3 years later upgraded to 250 Watts on 1340. It moved to 1370 in early 1941 and it then had 1KW Day 250 Watts night, got a CP for 5KW ND Days and 1KW 2 tower DA nights in Mid 1952. It looks like the transmitter may have been in the same place all this time, hard to tell. KGNO currently carries news talk programming by day and classic country at night. I'm on the air there overnights 11pm to 5am central 7 days a week _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
