** NORTH AMERICA. 7300.287v, Sept 24 at 0639, JBA talk in HSNL, tornado warnings east of OKC. The Christian pirate previously logged but last heard on Sept 17, also UT Sunday. Tnx to tips from Walt Salmaniw at 0600 and Eric Fetters-Walp at 0630 who first heard it at 0425 after tip from Lucas Bandura as of 0300, each on a different exact variable frequency. Never any IDs, it seems, but plays recorded/podcast sermons. Their best reception on easterly SDRs such as in WI, NC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SWAZILAND. 9585, Sun Sept 24 at 1455 music, 1456 talk seems French but strange accent, maybe Malgache, since this is the TWR for Madagascar, French on weekends, Malgache M-F. Must be longpath, one of best signals on band, stronger e.g. than WRMIs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2209 monitoring: not confirmed UT Sunday Sept 24 at 0000 on WRMI 9955; still on sked and supposedly starting ``later in Sept`` but too late now. Instead still replaying the same `Viva Miami` interview with a staff member. WRMI is revamping its systems effective October 2, so maybe things will be more reliable then, and/or with more transition problems. Also not confirmed UT Sunday Sept 24 at 0030 on WRMI 7780; instead some kind of music with regular spoken bits, seems like in a loop. This airing had been reliable for some months. Confirmed UT Sunday September 24 starting at 0408, the 0315v on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+18 into nearby remote, with heavy storm noise. Followed ARRL Audio News. Not checked Sun Sept 24 at 1030 on WRMI 9955; did anyone hear it? Next: 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [planned late in Sept] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2208] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; also webcast, phonecast] 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1400 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; also webcast, phonecast] Thanks this week to Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, for a generous quarterly check for autumn to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5130.175v, Sept 24 at 0649, WBCQ`s Trumpmitter is back, first time heard since Sept 7 lightning strike. First hearing a woman`s voice but it some MAGAcreep pushing T at a rally, applause. S9 direct but vs high storm noise. Later see this from Zach Liangas, Greece at 0651: ```WOR] 5130.15 back --- Allan Weiner said in X on 22z: ``That’s right. Warm up them tubes and start listening tonight. Lots of great stuff on the shortwaves. 7490/6160 and 5130 khz is back. In the quiet of your “radio shack” tuning in our world. Can’t get any better. Radio - very personal, human. The way it should be. Get tuning`` Just tuned via Concord kSDR with 2x6.2 kHz wide audio and -81dbm signal -- Zacharias Liangas, Radio monitor esp on signal analysis``` --- Since I refuse to join X, am not allowed to see his posts there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1949 UT September 24

** ANTARCTICA [and non]. 15475.98 RCUSB, Sat Sept 23 at 2143 first check, LRA36 is on with interview about southern Argentina, and the S Atlantic islands, S9+10 into Argentine SDR, but there is always some background noise, which more carrier would help overcome. Presumably started well before 1800 as usual. 2256 still going with music past 2308; now since 2300 there is a bit of ACI from 15480 Chinese, CNR1 Beijing site. 2322 the `Antártida` themesong starts; used to play in the opening but haven`t caught it for a long while --- yet chopped off the air after a few seconds: guess that was their cue to quit (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 6100, Sept 23 at 0652, S8 of dead air, presumably RHC which otherwise has not shown much activity on this frequency lately. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, Sept 23 at 1510, S6/S8 of dead air in Spanish; also 15140 with S9+10 of DA. By 1521, mod resumed on 15140. Something`s always wrong at RHC. The Other Side: ``READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW September 15, 2023 OPINION Something stinks in Cuba -0- After 65 years of subsidizing a disaster, the new plan is to… subsidize more! Now it is called a 'special financing scheme.' The case of Suchel Camacho. RAFAELA CRUZ | La Habana Suchel Camacho workers. Cairo into UTwente: something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY. 15690.038, Sept 23 at 1518, algo JBA outstix sorethumbly on 1-kHz-step BFO tuning. Listed is R. Farda via Biblis at 0530-1630. AFAIK, Iran does not bother to jam this (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11510, Sept 23 at 1513, JBA S3/S6 music, seems two carriers beating, presumably Recep jammer and Dengê Gel; nothing now on the alternate 11.5+ MHz channels (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 6159.9, Sept 23 at 0653 S9 of dead air instead of TOMBS on WBCQ. Satellite feed from Walterboro may have failed with no one noticing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.003, Sept 23 at 2155, VOT is not off the air today, IS and IDs in English, S9+40 into UTwente. Usually on .009 so this may be different transmitter. Modulation fairly good but max bandwith setting does not help, 13.53 kHz, why that precise number? At least no ACI to prevent such largesse. Altho Argie SDR confirmes 11780 RNA Brasil is not off the air. After news, 2211 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2213 song. 2218 `The Captain`s Log`, travelog since 7 months about Black Sea, now shifting to some seaside cities such as Sakarya? which I find somewhat inland east of Istanbul. 2226 song. 2230 `Gripping Piles`. 2233 song. 2237 `Turkey`s Geomarked [sic] Products` from Tokat, weaving. 2239 song. 2244 ``always by your side``, song. 2249 ``TRT with you every hour``. 2250 s/off as if 1230 or some other earlier broadcast. Fragment of IS to 2251.7* chop, no finesse. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U A E. 15310.129, Sat Sept 23 at 1520, algo JBA off-frequency. Listed is BBC Arabic for Sudan, via DHA site this semihour only, daily per EiBi, but M-F only per Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 28461 USB, Sept 23 at 1527, W1DED calling CQ Maine QSO Party; QRZ.com: ``W1DED USA flag USA, Kevin E Thomas, 235 LITTLEJOHN RD, Yarmouth, ME 04096 USA`` -- typical single-hop F2 distance, skipping over most of USA, with little else on 10m, not even a CW beacon (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2209 monitoring: confirmed first SWBC, UT Saturday September 23 at 0130, on WRMI 5850, JBA on a portable with inadequate antenna but no doubt VG otherwise aimed thisaway. Also confirmed Saturday September 23 after 1600 on WRN N America webcast. Also confirmed Saturday September 23 after 1930 on WRN N America webcast. Also confirmed Saturday September 23 after 1930 on WRMI webcast only. Also confirmed Saturday September 23 starting at 1955 the 1930v on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+15 into nearby SDR with some storm crashes. 7489.9, UT Sat Sept 23 at 0000 WBCQ with `AAAWWW` --- both A`s together in Fla, heatwave 100 degrees, watermelons exploding, and for a change does intro in a few minutes instead of midway that it`s 4th of August 2023 - so a repeat; never mind. Whew, he also said the first half would be political (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 5800, Sept 23 at 0648, S9+20 of dead air; got to be WRMI forgetting to turn #10 off at 0400 as per sked. Maybe plugged into TOMBS feed also failing to reach WBCQ 6160-. A trace of pulse jamming against nothing too: believe there was briefly some Cuban exile programming on this, which made it a target forevermore (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5980, Sat Sept 23 at 0649, the WWCR leapfrog mixing product of 5890 over 5935 another 45 kHz beyond is back since TOMBS on 5890 overnight occurs only on weekends. And strongest ever? S9+10. But no jamming audible on ex-Martí frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 6059.4 approx., Sept 23 at 0651, the ``bonker`` has invaded the 49m band: sounds like hammering on an anvil. Perhaps to celebrate the arrival of Autumn at 0650 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2345 UT September 23

** FRANCE. 7410-7415-7420, Sept 22 at 0155, DRM decoding OK into Maryland SDR, talk in French till chop at 0157*. Displays as from TDF, SNR of 18.8. Jean-Michel Aubier, France says these unlisted broadcasts of RFI programming are for St. Pierre & Miquelon. I wonder what the DRM receiver penetration be there in that bit of overseas France.
6010-6015-6020, Sept 22 at *0200, DRM cuts on as I have already retuned from 7415 on the Maryland SDR. Not as good as 7415 was, with dropouts, SNR 14.4, more RFI French (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11520, Sept 22 at 1455, VP music past 1501. Suspected Dengê Gel and/or Turkish jammer. No other signals 11500/11550 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Fri Sept 22 at 2200, token English from SNR, ``Optimum`` internet out so forced to listen direct: no problem in this case, VG S9+20, also sufficient on 15520 for ME, just a bit of fading; insufficient on 17715 for S America, and JBA on 11670 for Africa. 2206 after the news, another interview about Spanish film fest in London (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR0 ** SWAZILAND. 11880, Sept 22 at 1459 open carrier, 1500 TWR IS once and s/on mentioning Somali. Yes, that`s Manzini, scheduled at 1500-1530, extended weekends to 1545. Good signal, presumably long-path (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11765, Sept 22 at 1456, VOT IS and ID in some language, S5/S8 with flutter. Aoki shows Dari at 1500-1530, Pashto at 1530-1625 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, Sept 22 at 2200 and further chex direct, no signal from VOT English, not even a JBA carrier. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2209 monitoring: confirmed Friday September 22 at 2055 UT the 2030 on IRRS SW via 5 kW AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9/+10 with some storm crashes into nearby Noale SDR, finally: ``Optimum`` internet connectivity has been out and in, mostly out, since yesterday. Lite CCI presumed Smooth Radio, Brighton, England, 500 watts, but not for much longer. Via Mike Barraclough: ``The former Southern Sound (now Smooth Radio) transmitter on 1323 kHz is to close at the end of September 2023: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=US5eRYJmbgs MWCircle iog``. Per WRTH that leaves on 1323 a 30-watter in UK, some Romanians and Iran, which I have suspected not be on air as late in night as WOR. Next: 0130 UT Saturday WRMI 5850 to NW 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0000 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [planned late in Sept] 0030 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to SW 0245vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0457] 1030 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 [jammed by Cuba?] 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [planned late in Sept] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2208] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; also webcast, phonecast] 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1400 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; also webcast, phonecast] Thanks this week to Gerald T. Aoki shows it`s R. Tamazuj in Juba dialect at 1500-1600, but R. Dabanga which follows at 1559-1657 in Darfur dialect switches to France site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 5100 CW, Sept 22 at 0656, beeps at the rate of 25 per minute, and soon found the same thing on 4800 CW. What? In bandscan I found no broadcasters above 5000: no WRMI, Rebelde, WTWW or WBCQ. ** BRAZIL [and non]. 11780, Sept 21 at 0210, RNA reactivated after missing about a week, during hyper-enthusiastic yelling as if in futebol, but it`s rather late and there are bits of birdlike SFX. VG into Maryland SDR, and no doubt would have also been if checked direct. Chopped off the air in progress at 0230* sharp; normally would run to 0300. Let the SDR run for a while squelched, but no return. And // 6180 is now off the air, clearing the way for La Voz Alegre, MWV Madagascar Spanish gospel huxter hour which has always been in collision. What next? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2209)
** CUBA. 15140, Sept 20 at 1925, RHC English on BST-1 caradio, YL is muffled and soft-spoken, can`t follow her, 1928 OM is quite readable outroducing her as Alejandra García, and into sports. Also squeal on carrier. Something`s always wrong at RHC. The Other Side: READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW September 19, 2023 EMIGRATION Cuba: the country of broken families The industry uses the suffering of Cuban families as a bargaining chip. In many cases, they rupture. In the best ones, they are separated for many years. YOAN MIGUEL GONZÁLEZ PIEDRA | Holguín A senior in Havana's Central Park. (Diario de Cuba) Sandra, a 31-year-old Holguin mother, is struggling tremendously to care for her two children, alone, because her husband has recently left the country. Alexey, her spouse, is another young Cuban father who is in Mexico "waiting for his turn on the application to enter the United States," she explains....`` https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1695048377_49822.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE. Here`s the identity of my Sept 17 unIDRM circa 7415: ``[WOR] TDF in DRM Mode --- Here in NB, noted TDF with a DRM transmission in French today (20 September) on 7415 kHz tuning in at 0135 UT. Wasn't getting much audio initially but improved continuously to almost constant audio before the transmitter left the air abruptly at 0157. Didn't hear an ID so not sure of source of audio. There was also a line of text transmitted: "Diffusion DRM assurée par l'opérateur TDF". Also subsequently found them in DRM with French on 6015 kHz at 0220 UT but with little audio decoding and transmitter off shortly before 0230. What I heard sort of sounded like a domestic program rather than RFI but couldn't be sure. Same text line decoded. Is there any regular schedule of these TDF transmissions? -- Richard Langley`` ``Hi Richard, As far as I can find there is no published schedule of these transmissions. Some have been registered in HFCC in the past, but not this lot. If anyone has a reliable source of information on these I'd like to know so I can keep the schedule used by KiwiSDRs updated. At the moment I'm just going on what people are logging at random, and deleting the entries when no-one has reported it for a while. I really think this should be something the DRM Consortium could be doing rather than publishing the largely fictional schedule on their website. Cheers, Chris`` Mackerell, NZ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2209) ** OKLAHOMA. Sept 21 around 18 UT, OG&E crew spotted at work nearby: they are replacing an electric pole for some reason, but they say the transformer atop is not a new one. I thought maybe this was finally in response to my line noise complaint, and it does seem to have diminished somewhat, but still very buzzy as I approach the pole later with my DX-398 on MW and SW. It had also been a noise peak area driving by on caradio. They blamed a new cable TV provider installing on their poles (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2208 monitoring: confirmed now thrice in a row on WRMI: UT Thursday September 21 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, VG direct. Also confirmed UT Thursday September 21 at new time of 0100 on WRMI 9955, S9 into Maryland SDR with no jamming audible. `Circuit Rider` gospel huxter was chopped off in progress, but 0100 is his endtime also on other nights. Also confirmed UT Thursday September 21 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5010, S9/+10 into Bonaire SDR; and 9395, S9+15 into Maryland SDR. Next: Also confirmed Thursday September 21 NEW TIME at 1400 on WRMI 9955, S8/9+10 direct vs high storm noise level, no jamming audible. WRMI 9955 schedule: since I was not hearing any jamming vs WORLD OF RADIO at 0100 UT Thu Sept 21, I took a look at the System B skedgrid to see just when jamming would now be ``necessary`` --- and see NO obviously Cuban exile programs on it any more. There used to be a weeknightly strip at 6 or 7 pm ET, Radio Libertad, was it? Gone. Maybe for a while, as not included on the outdated Aoki entries for 9955. Of course the Cubans will still jam any ex-exile frequency for years to come, at least sporadically; I recently noticed poor Brother Scare late at night getting pulse-jammed. What about the Programming page? No exile programs there either. What happened to them? At least there is still Radio República on RMI via France 9490 and jammed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2209) ** U S A. Re: WTWW coming back by end of Sept? --- On Sept 14 I reply to George McClintock: ``George, Tnx. Does this mean something other than Scriptures for America? Or would there again be some SFA too? George McClintock 9-15-2023`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) 5085, later 9475 THE TINY TRAP On MSNBC at 0204 UT Sept 20, Laurence O`Donnell refers to Vietnam as ``that tiny country the size of New Mexico``, having been bombarded so excessively. Yes, per my Almanaque Mundial of 1987y, Vietnam of 329,556 sqkm vs New Mexico of 315,115 sqkm --- but TINY? Come on.
