Theyve had a few STA's in he last 3-4 years, 10 to 100 watts with a
longwire from a site in town...December wouldve been when the new site was
being built

WBBM 780 off the air  View Printable Version

In the wee hours of both May 2, 1988 and October 15, 1989, while DXing from Iowa City, I caught WBBM completely off the air and, both times, heard what sounded like opera music, albeit faintly. But neither time did it ever rise up strong enough for me to get an ID. To this day, I've always wondered if it was Radio Coro that I had snagged.

BTW, Rick, thank you for the tip on WELD-690. Heard them on the Muscatine, Iowa KiwiSDR last night.

I'm getting some weak music and a fair amount of noise. I can't really
tell what kind of music, but it's not a talk show. Might be .01 on the
high side. I'll just log it as Nome Alaska and go to bed! Jim Renfrew,

In case anyone needs this station for their log, KSOP is breaking from C&W
music for Utah Grizzlies hockey and as I send this they are between the 2nd
and 3rd periods.

Took a lot of sleuthing to figure this one out, but it is a new station for
me.
