As I have occasionally and recently spelt out, DentroCuban Jamming Command --- a name I totally made up for the agency responsible for jamming. The Cubans have never corrected me with the official name. as that would amount to admitting that it exist. Glenn

CUBA [and non]. 11860, Sunday Feb 24 at 1409, pulse jamming against

Something`s always wrong at DCJC.

Logs
** CHINA [and non]. 9825, Feb 24 at 1417, CCCCCCI, i.e. Chinese
Communist Chinese language co-channel interference, CNR1 jamming of
VOA Mandarin via Tinang, PHILIPPINES. Also checked Feb 25 at 1459 with
LAH until CNR1 off at 1500* leaving VOA ``Washington DC`` sign-off in
the clear. One of them at least 20 Hz off-frequency, likely VOA, but
VOA is gone before I can measure it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000 S9+10 but JBM, 6165 a bit more mod, 6100 a bit more than
that but still under-, only 6060 VG signal and modulation, Feb 25 at
0638 check of RHC English. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH AFRICA. See USA: WRMI

** U S A. 9955, Mon Feb 25 at 1421 as I tune in WRMI, during AWR
`Wavescan` Jeff White is making a brief update to his report two weeks
ago from HFCC Tunis that Sentech might be closing down its Meyerton
SOUTH AFRICA, SW transmitter site at Marchend --- now it`s confirmed!
As of March 31, end of B-18 season. Says BBCWS relays will be moved to
MGLOB MADAGASCAR; Channel Africa might continue on internet only.

Responses to this already: Bill Bingham says to the WOR iog:

``I wouldn't be surprised to see it return in the future, probably in
a new guise, and as DRM only. That would seem to fit with our
government's apparent fascination with all things digital. Either
that, or one hand at Sentech doesn't know what the other hand is
doing. As of October 2018 it seemed that shortwave was here for years
to come:
https://www.ee.co.za/article/is-there-still-room-for-shortwave-radio.html
Bill Bingham, Jo'burg, RSA``

Jose Jacob, India, who also forwarded the Wavescan announcement:

``The online schedule of Channel Africa shows that their schedule is
till 27 March 2019. It is an odd date as the B 18 schedule ends only
on 30 March 2019. So they may go off early???

http://www.channelafrica.co.za/sabc/home/channelafrica/frequencyfinder

They are conducting a Listeners survey also this week:

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1970 monitoring: Ivo Ivanov
confirms: ``GERMANY, Reception of World of Radio via HLR on 7265 CUSB,
Feb.24:
https://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/2019/02/reception-of-world-of-radio-via-hlr-on_80.html
1131-1200 7265 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg to CeEu English Sun, weak signal``

Also confirmed Sun Feb 24 at 2149, the 2130 on WRMI 7780, fair.

Also confirmed UT Mon Feb 25 at 0230 on WRMI 5950, S9+10, but 9395 a
JBA carrier as usual. (Strangely the WOR skedgrid shows this on 9395
but not 5950!)

Also confirmed UT Mon Feb 25 from 0402 on Area 51 webcast; and JBA at
0426 on WBCQ 5130.099, NF down from ~5130.48 area!

Also confirmed UT Mon Feb 25 at 0430 on WRMI, JBA carrier on 9955, but
on webcast as every week interrupting the ``Hallelujah`` song filler
from 0425. Next:

2330 UT Monday WRMI *9955 to SSE
0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 7730 to WNW
* also webcast; direct linx to these and many others at:

Complete WOR sked, all affiliates, satellite, webcast, AM&FM, podcast:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

(I`m so far behind, that I do not expect to have WOR 1971 ready before
later UT Tuesday) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, Monday Feb 25 at 1515, still no signal from KVOH;
OSOB is a JBA carrier on 17780 from BBC Ascension. Ditto both at 1734
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Re my previous reports of Vietnamese from KBXD, Stephen
Luce, Houston replied Feb 22: ``Glenn, regarding Vietnamese on 1480:
KLVL in the Houston market is currently running a Spanish language
religious format, mostly music, so not them. This "brokered time"
station has had several different programmers with short-lived formats
recently. KBXD in DFW can really get out during critical hours; it
often severely bothers KLVL at my NW Harris County QTH.``

1480, Feb 25 at 1348 UT, I`m rechecking for Vietnamese from KBXD, but
never hear any; in fact, suspect KBXD Dallas is off. KQAM The Big
Talker, Wichita is dominant so anything else is fighting it when
nulled as much as possible. First I`m getting a gospel huxter in
English (San Antonio or Memphis?); at 1400 while KQAM is in local
news, something else in Spanish, same station switched or different?
Mention AC 713, so that`s Houston, and 1402 Radio Vida slogan, which
is not listed for KLVL Pasadena. Now there is a SAH of 2 Hz, rather
than 0.75 Hz I measured Feb 15 between KQAM and KBXD. But this could
still be KBXD varying slightly in frequency and varying greatly in
programmation.

There is a Radio Vida in Dallas, but website has no info on a
frequency or callsign! http://radiovidadallas.com/ altho stereo praise
music in Spanish autolaunches. And it seems the Radio Vida in Houston
is on 1380. This is all very confusing. There are other 1480s in TN,
KS, CO and TX which could be involved in this mixture; but at least
the NM one is gone.

At 1407, KQAM starts ``hour 3 of Voice of Reason`` [sic] on this
``conservative talk`` station, which is also on FM, and live on KCTT-
TV, I thought he said, but the closest call to that of a real TV
station in Wichita is low-power KCTU (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4260, Feb 25 at 1358 UT, JBA talk, still there with R75
preamps off so think it`s a real signal, not overload, and most likely
a 3rd harmonic of something on 1420. But at hourtop I`m more concerned
with the mixture on 1480. At 1411, 4260 ruled out mix with strongest
locals on 960 & 1390, but too weak to be sure when I compare to 1640
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Logs
** CUBA [and non]. 11860, Sunday Feb 24 at 1409, pulse jamming against
weak presumed Republic of Yemen clandestine via Saudi Arabia, rather
than Radio Martà which has never operated 11860 beyond Monday-Friday.
Something`s always wrong at DCJC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15700, Feb 24 at 1405, CRI Plus relay is suptorted today,
while 15140 & 15230 RHC are overmodulated/distorted, but no spurs
found on 15 or 13 MHz bands. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9640, Feb 24 at 1448, RHC apparently pre-empted `En Contacto`
--- instead of Arnie & Marta we hear a discussion of Feb 24 as a big
day for ratifying the new Cuban constitution, and also about
``solidarity`` with Venezuela (meaning the Maduro dictatorship, not
the people of V.) Such also continues past 1450 instead of the medical
show; will they be back next Sunday? Something`s always wrong at RHC.

Recent spam from Diario de Cuba, allegedly datelined Habana, with
contrary views:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 6090, Feb 24 at 0137, VIRI in Spanish, S9 but undermodulated,
discussing Venezuela. Genuine Latin American accents are heard on
VIRI, so don`t be fooled, as they reach out to correspondents or
sympathizers (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 4015-USB, Feb 24 at 0125, music and immediate ID
break as Wolverine Radio, then blues, S9, found here after nothing on
6.9 MHz band. Many reports here
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,51341.0.html
that it had just QSYed from 6950 with song titles having a day of the
week in them, as also displayed in SSTV signpost (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 12035.7, Feb 24 at 1406, VOT music and English talk is only
S2-S5 with flutter, notably inferior to Turkish on 11815.0, tho HFCC
registrations indicate should be vice versa: 500 kW on 12035, 250 kW
on 11815, and azimuths USward only 5 degrees apart (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1970 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
February 23 at 2215 the 2200 on WRMI 9955, S5-S9.

Richard Lemke, Alberta, caught a new airing! 0030 UT Sunday Feb 24 on
WRMI 7730, replacing an IBC Radio time almost two months after new
episodes stopped (but not the next ex-IBC time, UT Sun 0130 on 9395).

Also confirmed UT Sun Feb 24 starting at 0427 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM,
Wentzville MO, as usual editing out as much of the musical theme
opening as possible; S9+30 and not much QRhAM during the 160m contest.
Earlier check at 0144 had WD5K calling CQ contest right on 1860-LSB.
That`s Thomas C. Johnson in Dallas. Next:

2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE
0230 UT Monday WRMI 5950 to WNW, 9395 to NNW
0400vUT Monday WBCQ *5130v Area 51 to WSW
0430 UT Monday WRMI *9955 to SSE

** U S A. 4980, Feb 24 at 0129, Spanish as WRMI on long past normal
2400*, seems religious but not hearing enough to decide if SMTV
segment; and off the air at 0132 recheck. Meanwhile 5010 WRMI was
already off (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9395, Feb 24 at 0129, S9 of WRMI dead air, 0130 Bob Biermann
plugs his `YWS` without any specific times or frequencies (too many?),
0131 into Oldies instead of defunct IBC Radio as still on skedgrid.

7780, Feb 24 at 0131, this WRMI is playing Mideast music, so World
Music fill? Certainly not `Worship in your Home` as still on skedgrid.

While checking the above at 1642 Feb 24, the WRMI skedgrid has Jeff
White logged in as well as three anonymous creatures: Loris, Unicorn,
and Dumbo Octopus (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1430, Feb 24 at 0500 UT, short-notice but widely-publicized
DX test prompted by engineering work at WION, Ionia MI is supposed to
start now but nothing noted in first biminute, just huge pileup of
roughly equal signals, nothing readable; length of test unknown, but I
decide to recheck later:

At 0558 UT now I hear a 1 kHz tone; or could it be a JBA TA carrier?
Rather too late for Djibouti, Ukraine is inactive; leaving only some
very/low powers in UK, Greece and Italy. I don`t have a chance to
detect whether it`s on 1431 only as in DX, or 1431 & 1429 as in
modulation from a domestic. I keep listening intently for almost the
next hour on the DX-398 aimed NE/SW, whence the tone peaks as if from
WION. At 0600 there is a pause and then a lower-pitched tone, one half
kHz, or 440? 0605 another tone audible, and 0608 peak stronger, stops
about 0613. If there had been a Morse code ID during this span,
probably could have copied it. Todd Skaine says WION runs a Morse code
ID at hourtop even during normal programming. Otherwise: occasionally
rising slightly above the din is TexMexmx, or maybe a real Mexican
like at 0627. At 0634, ad for Schlotzky`s (?) restaurant in
Belleville, i.e. KZQZ St Louis as in following jingle --- that`s the
station I mainly expected to hear in the way of WION, altho KZQZ night
pattern is unfavorable thisaway. No more tones heard until 0650. But
what I heard earlier correlates with other DX monitors (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
