UNID (Colombia?) 4939.995, SEP 9 2350 - Possibly the reported new Colombian
here at 0050 tune, dominant over co-channel presumed R. San Antonio on
4939.71. Lively Salsa vocals, brief announcement/possible ID by woman at
2358, ballad past the top of the hour the back to Salsa. Unintelligible ID
by woman at 0008 then back to music. Lots of lightning crashes this evening
hampering reception.

Also noted with same offset in passing last evening.

Instead of using that word cheating, I came up with a saying..” “I suspect
but can’t prove the station is suffering from night pattern and power
facility compliance issues”

I’ve had stations running double digit or low triple digit power and had
several DXers claim that station must be cheating with zero ability to
prove it

The WNJC 1360 test will be 0400-1000 UTC (Midnight EDT to 0600 EDT) Saturday and Sunday Mornings (Late night Friday and late night Saturday).

All credit should go to Duke, the station owners, and Paul Walker. He’s doing yeoman’s work at lining up DX Tests.

The idea of doing back-to-back long duration tests was actually Duke’s with no prodding from the CPC. This is the advantage to having a ham radio operator for the Chief Engineer. DXing isn’t foreign to him—it’s baked into the DNA.

Hoping the propagation gods are with us, and we start the new season off with a real bang.
