Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Sept 30 at 1806 tune-in, good
S6/S8 into Argentine SDR, LRA36 probably has been on for a semihour,
just now signing on, Juan Benavente with `Uniendo Voces`, joint
produxion of RAE, Antarctic Command, and Universidad Nacional de
Quilmes. 1810 `Historias del Sexto Continente`; my lunch break and too
much else going on to monitor much, 1858 closing credits for Quilmes,
into `Noticias Australes` about Ushuaia. 1955 about ham ops from
mountains; 1957 contact info closing ham news segment, 1958 brief
Morse code; 1959 `Momento Musical`; 2105 recheck, still with song.
Walt Salmaniw, BC, remarx to the WOR iog, ``signal is steadily
improving into Masset, and is now (2104) at fair to good level. I'm
expecting it to improve to excellent levels! 73, Walt``. So I check
direct here at 2128, still not expecting it, and indeed no trace. 2238
music, now peaking up to S9+10 into Argie remote. They were to get a
new 10 kW transmitter; is this it already? 2300 still going strong.
2335 still on with noisy echoic SFX? hitting S9+15, surely about to
close. Uniendo Voces ID. 2340 plays canned sign *on* announcement,
by mistake? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 15034 USB, confirming my obs of no info from Trenton, on
Sept 30 to the WOR iog: ``Trenton Military - 15034 kHz. Tuned in at
1634 and off at 1700 UT. S9 signal into central NC. Aviation weather -
no report received for all locations. Doug White, KA5ETS, Carrboro,
NC`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 5800, Sept 30 at 0616, lite pulse jamming vs open
carrier totalling S9+5/25, as once again, WRMI must have failed to
turn off #10 transmitter at 0400, and the DentroCubans are all set in
case any exile programming resume. Meanwhile they will pollute
innocent frequencies for the greater good of info blockade (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE. Chris Mackerell, NZ, replies to my last report about 6100:
``Race website with tracking:
https://minitransat.fr/
French bread for while you listen from one of the race sponsors:
https://www.laboulangere.com/
Cakes too :-) Cheers, Chris`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** HAWAII [and non]. 6501 USB, Sept 30 at 0624, S9+30 robotic marine
weather quoting numerous coördinates in Pacific Ocean, somewhat
overmodulated / distorted, as so often the case with USCG
transmitters; can`t they do better? EiBi shows NMO Honolulu at
0600-0635. 6501 is timeshared with other USCGs: NMN Chesapeake VA, NRV
Guam, NOJ Kodiak. Only other time for NMO is 1200-1235; but `shares`
may overlap, like: NMN until -0615, -1215. Do they coördinate in real
time to avoid that?

Also VFF Iqaluit, Canada could use 6501 anytime, via 3 different
sites:
cb-Cambridge Bay, Victoria Island NU 69N06'53"-105W01'11"
hr-Hay River 60N50'27"-115W46'12"
in-Inuvik NWT 68N19'33"-133W35'53"
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11530, Sept 30 at 1527, JBA, only signal in the
11.5s, presumably current spot for the Turco/Kurdo radio war between
Recep the jammer and Dengê Gel via Uzbekistan? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)fs

** LIBERIA. 6050, Sept 30 at 0621, JBA carrier now tho none recently
in regular bandscans, ergo ELWA, as Manuel Méndez has just reported in
the WOR iogroup: ``Log in Reinante, NW of Spain, Sangean ATS-909X,
Tecsun PL-880, cable antenna, 8 meters. 6050, ELWA Radio, Monrovia,
*0557-0611, 29-09, interval signal, identification at 0559: "Good
Morning this is ELWA Radio ....", English religious comments and
songs. Reactivated after about three months out of the air. 15421``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Sept 29 at 2200, token English from SNR is VG direct
into portable DX-398 with a few feet of clipon. 2205 feature is about
paella since Sept 20 was World Paella Day: interview with a Spanish
chef now dishing it out in USA; 2212 next subject is wines, interview
about Galicia. Late in the semihour I discover somewhat better
reception on 15520 beamed the wrong way -- about same strength but
less fading than 17855. Likely more and more the case in darkening
October until drop to 9690 at monthend (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SWITZERLAND [and non]. Chris Mackerell, NZ replies to my last
report about DRM: ``Yes, stereo is available in DRM and has been for
many years, but of course requires more bits than mono, so needs
better reception conditions. Back around ~2005 DW DRM broadcasts from
Sines were often in stereo and provided some very good reception here
in
New Zealand. KTWR has also done some excellent tests in stereo in the
past. Cheers, Chris`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Sept 29 at 2200 and several further chex, nothin`
but noise into DX-398 portable with reelout. If really on the air --
and a good ~30% chance it`s not -- it may as well not be, insofar as
reaching a CNAm target. Did not get to computer in time to check it at
UTwente, but by 2320 or so, definitely not providing any extra German.
Quite the contrary with reception from SPAIN, q.v.

11785, Sept 30 at 2158, VOT not off the air, S9+20 into UTwente with
IS & English IDs. Timesignal way early by ~half a minute before 2200
and s/on. Overmodulated and distorted, much worse on music. After news
dated today, 2213 travelog about Sakarya again; 2220 multi-lingual ID
filler reel, music; 2227 always-by-your-side promo; 2228 Geomarked
Products about tomato seeds, music; 2233 with-you-24-hours promo; 2234
`Gripping Piles`; mostly music; 2252 canned s/off, 2253 IS. 2255
restart IS, but chopoff before any spurious German IDs (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. The blasting high line noise level I was complaining about
has diminished somewhat but not eliminated. Not sure if this result
from any OG&E effort. Now it`s more sporadic bursting than continuous.
Unrelated, but my Icom ICR-75 is now sidelined as its audio output is
no longer normal even after warmup or leaving it on continually. The
JRC NRD-545 is now my primary rx, using the same 100` E/W longwire as
the Icom, u.o.s. Frequency measurements to 3 decimal places not
practical, only 2 at most. Noise level is still worst on LW, S7/S9,
but slight lowering again JB audiblizes fringe NDBs in the daytime
beyond Oklahoma, Sept 30 at 1539:
332 kHz MCW, IC, Wichita KS, listed 400 watts
395 kHz MCW, CA, Newton/Harvs KS, 25 watts
407 kHz MCW, HRU, Herington KS, 25 watts
I`ll know things are again close to normal if I can hear in daytime:
293 kHz MCW, FBY, Fairbury NE, 25 watts just beyond Kansas.
I am still not hearing 255 kHz MCW, SW, Stillwater OK. If really on as
some allege, must be on reduced power from listed 25 watts
That leaves the only day audible Okies:
341 kHz MCW, EI, Enid, 25 watts but JBA despite proximity
515 kHz MCW, PN, Ponca City, 25 watts but always much stronger than
anything lower on MW or LW - maybe partly due to better receiver
sensitivity and shorter antenna (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2210 monitoring: confirmed Sept 29
NEW time of Friday 2200 on WRMI 9955, JBA on portable DX-398 with
reel-out clipon, but sufficient to recognize. Hope reception better
elsewise and elsewhere. Carrier seemed to be on already at 2151; music
at 2153, but not the IS & ID loop to ``top of hour``; 2159 canned
`WNYW` style ID and 2200 WOR theme. Tnx, Jeff, for another airtime.

Also confirmed UT Saturday September 30 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, S9+40
into Georgia SDR. As often, a bit of extraneous music between ID and
my opening.

Confirmed Saturday September 30 at 1600 on WRN N America webcast.

Confirmed Saturday September 30 at 1928 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+15
into nearby SDR, about 4 minutes into so started early circa 1924.

No new financial support this week, which might have been sent via MO
or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WBCQ `AAAWWW` check on webcast, UT Sat Sept 30 at 0000;
interrupts `WTO` theme early. 0004 says trimulcasting on 7490, 5130
and 3265 --- what about 6160-? Yes, something else, `The Intelligence
Report` at 0006 check. What does the program sked show on 6160 at
00-01 UT Sat? still `AAAWWW`. Only time listed for I.R. there is 00-01
UT Tue on 7490. I check the offsets into NH SDR: 6160 -68 Hz =
6159.932; 7490 -74 Hz = 7489.926; 5130 +186 Hz = 5130.186; and 3265
+128 at first but steadily updrifting in a few minutes to +177 where
it slows down; by 0034 down to +133 descending slowly. Meanwhile Allan
was fiddling with phone lines, musing about UFOs and AI, with ``my
beautiful wife`` Angela on remote while he`s in MC, meaning Monticello
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13845, Sat Sept 30 at 1531, astounded to hear Arabish on
WWCR-3! YL speaking, bit of music, then OM presumably sermonizing.
What does program sked show? STILL with wrong UT conversion times, 6
hours instead of 5 ahead of Central! No hint of anything non-English!
Since we know `The Talking Machine Show` is really at 17 UT Sats on
WWCR-2 12160, as we listen to it every week, including later today,
this means the Central times are correct if assumed CDT rather than
CST, and all the UTs in the right column SHOULD read one hour earlier.
This `international` SW station on air for sesqui-decades still hasn`t
understood UT. But if no correxions be made, will again become
accurate from Nov to Mar! Unless we be forced to stay on DST: how is
that legislation going? More important matters right now.

Anyhow, sked at 10-11 am CT Sats on 13845 is: `Your Firm Foundation`
with Frank Ricks -- so is that what`s in Arabic, or is it something
completely different? There are 5 other times for that title on the
sked, so check if they be Arabish: Fri 1230-1300 on 15825; Wed
2100-2200 on 9350; Sat 2200-2300 on 9350; Sun 2300-2400 on 9350; Mon
0500-0600 on 4840. Still dated as of Sept 1, but should soon get
another update as of Oct 1. At the obvious program website I see
nothing about non-English, nor anything about being on SW (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, Sept 30 at 0645, S9+5, enough signal to discern that
RV is modulating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VATICAN. 13830, Sat Sept 30 at 1529, VR ``Christus Vincit`` IS,
1530 ``Laudetur Iesus Christus``, s/on in Amharic mentions Ethiopia,
then some Horn-of-Afric-ish music; S7/S9, the SSOB = strongest signal
on band, except for North Americans, 13605, 13845. One more instance
of SMG`s ability to send bigsigs in the opposite direxion - are they
really 180 degrees off, or merely with no screening to diminish
back-lobe radiation? 1530 bc HFCC-registered as 250 kW at 98 degrees!
That`s way off, toward Persian Gulf & Sri Lanka. Another anomaly:
Ethiopia is more like 140 degrees. 13830 has lots more for EAf in
store, various languages after 1600 via Madagascar instead, in which
case we would get overspill from its forward beam; and 17-19 back to
SMG (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 17790, Sept 30 at 0131 check, again no signal into Utah
SDR, rather than PanAm from WRMI? as heard 48 hours ago (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 15034 USB, Sept 29 at 1450, CHR Trenton Military is JBA
with ``no report received`` perceived a few times. Is it prop, or
altho on, is it QRP? I don`t have the patience to monitor such a poor
signal for complete several-minute sequences, but random chex since
reactivation have heard nothing but NRRs here nor on 6754 USB at
night. Has anyone, or is this completely pointless? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** FRANCE [and non]. 6100, Sept 29 at 1524 tune-in, `La Boulangère`
MiniTransAt special hour via TDF Issoudun, S9+25 and nothing yet on
alternates 5975, 13735 nor 15300 into UTwente. Weather info in French,
alternating immediately with same in heavily-accented English by same
announcer. La Boulangère means female baker, why?? At 1527 switch to
recitation of rankings in the yacht race so far with distances
traveled. 1534 closing, ``à demain`` and into rock music which I
expect to fill out the hour like last time, a James Bond theme. By
1540 I realize it has gone off but am hearing some weak talk instead.
During the bc there was also slight CCI from this understation, i.e.
CRI in Russian via Kashgar, East Turkistan, land of imperialist ChiCom
genocide against Uyghurs and other Moslems. HFCC shows it`s 100 kW ND,
so not much signal toward Europe, target area rather CIRAFs 30SE, 31SW
and 40E (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ITALY [non]. 7290, Fri Sept 29 at 1815, IRRS SW is S9+5/15 into
UTwente, and nil on second harmonic 14580, in `Shortwave Report`,
recordings of DW and other stations, i.e., the time slot from which
WORLD OF RADIO was canceled months ago. But Dan Roberts is chopped off
halfway thru at 1830 for IRRS SW ID and Feature Story News; 1833 S
Asian song, and plug their alt identity as European Gospel Radio, same
repeated at 1845 after non-gospel music fill, then more of that. 1852
cut to discussion of AI. *1857 ACI starts from 7295 CRI English via
Kashgar. 1858 back to a song. 1859 IRRS s/off 7290, to continue on
1323 kHz. Aoki and EiBi claim the secret 7290 site is Bulgaria. See
also USA [and non] WOR monitoring (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11535.0, Sept 29 at 1458, algo JBA, only signal in
11500-11600 range, presumably Dengê Gel via Uzbekistan? and/or Recep
the Turkiyeish jammer. Listening carefully across 1500 hourtop,
continues with no timesignal, so not CNR1 jammer; and since not
off-frequency, not Sound of Hope either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, Sept 29 at 1500, Voice of Martyrs, Korea,
intro in English of Dhivehi -- pronounced DEE-veh-hee, 1501.5 switch
to YL in that language quoting from Proverbs. Only S6/S9 direct but
much better than Asian signals on band generally weak and/or
disturbed, so whence? Australia, Taiwan, or Big Secret? (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 101.5, Sept 29 circa 2030 UT, still dead air in $ tereo
into caradio from KOCD Okeene. Along a busy rush-hour artery street,
also found dead air on 87.9 and 93.1, the latter at least also in
$ tereo; obviously unfed hungry RF feeders in vehicles (Glenn Hauser,
Enid, WOR)

** SWITZERLAND [non]. 15420-15425-15430, Sept 29 at 1601, Claudius
Obrecht`s special hour of his electronic music, as publicized, 100 kW
via Woofferton UK eastward toward target India. After finding Pune and
Bengaluru SDRs blocked due to something (else?) DRM requiring full
resources, I get it via #3 of the four 9K2RA SDRs in Kuwait. First
time I have listened to one of his music specials, and enjoyed till
1659*. He makes frequent announcements in German, sometimes also very
heavily accented English, and sometimes talking over his music. Plugs
his website. No dropouts or QRM. Display shows 10.26 kbps, not sure of
bandwidth but nothing hifi for music, and mono of course. I bet he
made it originally in stereo. Is stereo possible with DRM? If not, why
not: that could be a major selling point, but no doubt if employed
would make it even less robust. ID at 1620: ``This is C. M. Obrecht
Shortwave Radio`` - perhaps he need a catchier title? CMOS Radio?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2210 monitoring: confirmed Friday
September 29 at 2054 the 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz only,
S9+10/13 into nearby Noale SDR, and for a change no CCI, so Smooth
Radio, Brighton, England, UKQOGBANI, may have already closed down
forever. 2059 usual false s/off, 2100 Feature Story News, 2108 start
`The Shortwave Report` again with Dan Roberts, but bound to be chopped
off air in a few more minutes. Yup, -2111.7*, and still nothing else
on open frequency. See also ITALY [non].

Be prepared for disappointment, but WRMI sked shows a new time for
WOR, Friday 2200 on 9955, shortly to be confirmed, i.e. Next:

** U S A. 5085: George McClintock confirms WTWW resuming UT Tuesday
October 3 after an hour of PPP, 4 hours 7dpw have been purchased at
01-05 UT by: ``Bishop`` Bob Biermann! That`s `Your Weekend Show` and
`Truth 2 Ponder` guy with lotsa hours already on WRMI: far-Christian
and far-right. He had been engineering at WRMI but I think for some
time he has been living somewhere else, fighting cancer or something.
His voice is still on many recorded WRMI IDs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR

UNIDENTIFIED [non]. 17790, Sept 29 at 0209, checking 24h after the

** CUBA. 15140, Sept 28 at 15140, RHC is JBA into NH; at 1832 no
signal detected, boding ill for English at 19-20 but busy with WOR did
not get around to rechecking. The Other Side:

``READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW September 25, 2023 RUSSIA-UKRAINE

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11535, Sept 28 at 1506, JBA carrier, only signal
below 11620 and above 11500. Likely current radio war channel between
Recep`s Turkey jammer and Dengê Gel, presumably via Uzbekistan.
However, EiBi shows Sound of Hope, Taiwan, long hours on 11535.2 but
no jammer; did not seem to be off-frequency. But SOH also in Aoki as
*jammed on 11535 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2210)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sept 28 at 2158, VOT English not off the air
today, ex-11785.003, so different transmitters? But poor only S7/S8

even more considering internet delay. Something`s always erroneous at

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2209 monitoring: confirmed UT
Thursday September 28 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9/+10 into Maryland SDR.

NOT confirmed UT Thu Sept 28 at 0100 new time on WRMI 9955, as
confirmed for first time last week, already gone, replaced by `Antena
DX` from Panamá. Tsk2, it`s up against another Spanish DX program,
`Frecuencia al Día` at same time on 5010.

Skedgrid has already been updated, but now shows another *new* airing
for WOR, Friday at 2200 on 9955: hope that can be confirmed, and stix
as would become first SW airing of new editions.

Confirmed UT Thursday September 28 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+10/18 into
Maryland remote:

Also confirmed on WRMI 5010, S9/+12 into Bonaire SDR.

Also confirmed Thursday September 28 at 1423 the new 1400 on WRMI
9955, poor S4/S7 direct but no jamming audible; last SW repeat in
weekly cycle.

No new financial support this week, which might have been sent via MO
or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to:

** U S A. From Dr Hj Biener: ```Dear Glenn, I just copied your weekly
Digest and found this item of interest:

``230921 [and non]. WRMI 9955 schedule: since I was not hearing any
jamming vs WORLD OF RADIO at 0100 UT Thu Sept 21, I took a look at the
System B skedgrid to see just when jamming would now be ``necessary``
--- and see NO obviously Cuban exile programs on it any more. There
used to be a weeknightly strip at 6 or 7 pm ET, Radio Libertad, was
it? Gone. Maybe for a while, as not included on the outdated Aoki
entries for 9955. [...] What about the Programming page? No exile
programs there either. What happened to them? At least there is still
Radio República on RMI via France 9490 and jammed (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WORLD OF RADIO 2209)``

Looking at WRMI schedules that I downloaded 230103 and 230218:
230103 Radio Libertad is listed at the System B schedule at Mo-Fr
1900-2000 h ET
230218 Radio Libertad is not listed at the System B schedule any more.
Instead we find religious and DX related programmes at Mo-Fr 1900-2000
h ET.
Interestingly, both System B schedules are listed as „Effective
October 31, 2022“

Thus for the record we can conclude that this exile customer left the
station in early 2023. According to my files Radio Libertad has been
the only Cuban exile broadcaster using broker services of Radio Miami
International (beside Radio República) since about 2017/18. The
website https://www.radio-libertad.org/
is still there and provides a distorted stream.

Kind regards, Hj. (Dr Hansjoerg Biener)``` (via Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF
RADIO 2210)

** U S A. 5130.233, Sept 28 at 1533, WBCQ Trumpmitter is JBA daytime
into nearby NH SDR; inaudible into Maryland (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7505, Sept 28 at 0650, S9+40 open carrier, no doubt WRNO:
about to expand to all-night again? Or forgot to turn off after 0400
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2210)

UNIDENTIFIED. 17790, Sept 28 at 0212, gospel huxter in English about
anti-Christ, S9/+10 into Utah SDR; 0230 switch to another with no ID;
off at 0303 check, so closing ID if any missed. Following this thread
on the WOR iog:

Andy Reid, Ont. at 0104: ``I am hearing something on 17790 that was on
well before 0100. Singing or chanting. Some vocal. No trace of the
BBC.``

Walt Salmaniw, BC, at 0131: ``Call To Worship by the Zion Chapel is
the name of the program. Very strong into Masset. Then into Welcome to
Bible Adventures with an Australian accented announcer at 0130.
Transmitter hum is noted (not loud, but there) Walt``

Walt at 0201: ``At 0200 an ID: "You are listening to Radio PanAm".
Huhh? Walt``

I, gh, reply at 0205: ``That would be Pan American Broadcasting,
a.k.a. Radio Africa (toward S America) as on WRMI 17790 at 15-21, so
WRMI extended, or another site? Not on WRMI grid. Glenn``

Wolfgang Bueschel: ``test of B23 season request channel?``

Kenneth Vito Zichi, MI: ``I've noted WRMI on 'early' and playing their
typical 'pop/rock' oldies BEFORE Pan America programming comes on.

15770 is also nominally 24 hours but obviously propagation doesn't
allow it to be heard such in any one place even if they are on the
air.

I think Jeff W likes to experiment and although I'm sure it isn't
'cheap', apparently the power bills to run a SW transmitter either
aren't as bad as so many would like to imply or it is 'worth it' for
him?

I'm still amazed that so many people who identify as 'broadcasters'
seem to have nothing nice to say about the medium and appear to only
wish it a speedy death. That makes little sense to me. 73. //Ken Z``

17790 I check again next day Sept 28 at 2230 into Utah SDR and
UTwente: no signal, nor circa 0030 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO
2210)

** VANUATU. 7260, Sept 28 circa 0650, RV is JBA but can perceive some
modulation. Checking via Brisbane remote, Tony Rogers reported
yesterday its 7260 and 3945 channels were on but with dead air (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2210)
