[IRCA] TP 17 Aug Victoria version
An odd morning, Asia earlier, generally weaker than yesterday, some
Aussie and New Zealanders towards 1300UT, spread across the band, not
just the high end like the last couple of mornings. A few real
mysteries, 603, 684 and 1422.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
1566 HLAZ woman in Japanese 1240UT
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
the above passing through
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
747 JOIB English lessons 1210UT
828 JOBB woman in Japanese, peaking 1153UT, //774 which was much weaker
1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1223UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
603 soft vocal music 1233UT. If Korea, has turned up the modulation
from last season. Talk at 1236UT too faint to get any hints. Next
song was a little bouncier, so maybe NZ after all? Nothing on 765
though, and no other NZ at this time.
612 4QR man talking //702 which was very weak, 1255UT
675 RNZ National laid back music 1259UT, 6 pips on hour, last
slightly elongated, then woman talking.
684 slow pop vocal 1255UT, not //612, 702. Rhema?
738 pop music 1218UT
1053 Korean jammer 1228UT
1287 woman talking rapidly, Japanese inflection? 1247UT
1422 woman talking rapidly 1302UT, man at 1304UT slower, almost DU
English sounding, but then again maybe not, hints of Spanish or
Tagalog? Greek with a DU accent?
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)
756 891 954 1026 1098 1116 1494 1503 1548 1593 1611 1629(hum)
best wishes,
Nick
