Unlike yesterday both the low and high band Asians received a majorÂpropagation boostÂduring sunrise enhancement, with 558-HLQH finally strong enough to get through the KPQ splatter on the hot-rodded PL-380 at 1342. 531-JOQG also built up enough strength to confirm the 594 parallel around the same time, while 1503-JOUKÂwas the star of the high band with aÂvibrant run during sunrise enhancement.
Â
At my 1300 start time the band sounded pretty subdued, with only theÂJapanese big guns on 594 and 693 and 1566-HLAZ managing fair strength in and out. Asian signals stayed at a modest level until around 1320, when 747-JOIB suddenlyÂcame out of the noise toÂa very good level with its English lessons. The otherÂNHK regulars on 594, 693 and 774 got the same boost,Âwhile the KBS2 parallels on 558 and 603 both reached steady audio around 1328 with speech by the deep-voiced maleÂ(with 558 fighting the KPQ splatter). The strength of 558-HLQH reached an exceptional level around 1330, which was fortunate because most of the time the only way it could be recorded (through the KPQ splatter) was to record it on 557 kHz. By 1340 almost all the low band Japanese were on potent runs, and I decided to check a long-term target on these hot-rodded portables, 531-JOQG. Sure enough it was there at a weak level with Japanese male and female talk // 594, the 19th TP station to be received on these FSL-enhanced PL-380's (after 558-HLQH was #18). The high band also had one standout performer around 1345, with 1503-JOUK going on an energeticÂrun similar to the low-band Japanese around 1345. Besides these there wereÂfair signals in and out from 972-HLCA and the 1053-Jammer throughout the session, and threshold audio from the CRI stations on 1044 and 1323 (but never strong enoughÂfor positive language identification). On the other hand the strength of both 531-JOQG and 558-HLQH was the best that either station had managed during the entire season here, with 558's strength at 1330 similar toÂthose of the bi gun Japanese signals on 594 and 747.
