[IRCA] TP 26 Mar Victoria version
Well, I'll have to take Bruce's word for much of this morning. I
have a local intermittent noise source that decided to un-intermit
overnight, right through to 1405UT this morning. It ruins the
western Flag (20 dB increase in noise level around 1100kHz is the
worst, but it mostly takes out the whole band.) The north Flag has
quite a bit better noise response, but I didn't switch to that until
1345UT. But at least that showed off the short, sharp, limited
passband sunrise enhancement from about 1348 to 1353UT, over
1300-1600kHz, even with the noise.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
not quite
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
1422 JORF assumed with woman in Japanese 1351UT followed by slow jazzy vocal
1566 HLAZ man in Japanese 1240UT managed to cut through the noise
1575 VoA likely with man and woman in SE Asian language 1349UT; also
noted with woman in SE Asian language 1407UT after the noise ended
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
594 JOAK man in Japanese 1245UT
693 JOAB 1238UT with man in Japanese //774 in spite of CBU splash and
the noise.
774 JOUB as above 1238UT and for a couple of minutes afterwards
1332 woman singing ballad with oriental flavor peaking at 1350UT
1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1353UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
1242 man talking 1350UT, Japanese inflections in it
1386 NHK2 as below //1593 1350UT
1494 man mumbling 1352UT
1593 NHK2 deep voiced man talking //1386 at 1350UT
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)
1179 1314 1359 1404 1503 1539 1584
best wishes,
Nick
