The first was KXBT-1640 in Vallejo. Testing was first suspected on March 3, 1996 (20 years ago today!), the first test ID was March 9 and regular sked began on March 19. They held a CP for 1620, but operated on this frequency instead.
The second was KGXL in Costa Mesa. Testing was first suspected on October 29, 1997, the first test ID was November 21 and regular sked began on December 29.

Does anyone know the first 2 stations that came on the expanded AM band in
California back in the 1990's? I logged both of them, but have lost my
