[IRCA] EXPERIENCE WITH LARGE LOOPS
Finally in possession of a Wellbrook ALA-100 (sometimes us old folks move
slowly).
I'm intrigued by the idea of a large magnetic loop and seeking war stories
from anyone who has built these larger-circumference arrays.
Wellbrook suggest a 60-foot circumference is about as large as you should go
to take full advantage of the amplifier.
At our upcoming DesertDXPedition in Utah we plan on chasing signals below
500 kHz. What I'm curious about is whether such a large loop is necessary
to give us a leg-up on long-wave. Might we do (almost) as well with smaller
antennas?
This group is extremely responsive and supportive, and I'm looking forward
to your thoughts!
Cheers!
