I saw the JA chatter on the Topband list too. Nothing heard here in DC though I do have a friend from work who is going to Laos next month to âwork 160â with a group of hams on DXpedition.

My regular morning routine usually includes a trip to see if thereâs any carrier on 738 while pointing southwest. Sometimes there is despite a huge signal from a local on 730 and Zoomer Radio on 740. Last time I got ANYthing TP was right after a 2012 DXp to coastal Maine where I heard a few. I came home and was able to âseeâ a couple of carriers but no audio and it didnât last long.

When things did work here from TP-land - back in 2009/10 - it was 747, 774, 693 and 945 that I got audio on. Never had much luck with hi-band TPs here other than carriers on 1566 and 1548 during our annual Labor Day âwindowâ to DU.

After checking 738 I use 760, 770 and 780 as my âguidesâ for how things are going. If, while pointing west, I can hear XEABC under WJR I stick around. If not, I swing the array south and see if Colombia is in, if it is I check 770 to see if Cuba/VZ are giving WABC fits and if Radio Coro is over WBBM on 780.

If none of those are happening itâs a âtypicalâ morning and I go make coffee and check email.

Sometimes I come back to see if thereâs a sunrise âbounceâ but lately I get so disgusted with conditions I just go on up and shower leaving the radio to gather dust.

Iâm sure I miss some things that way but until I get my own DX Fishbarrel itâs sufficient.

Cheers.
