[IRCA] TP 5 Dec Victoria version

An odd morning here. A couple of apparent DU....maybe two stations on 1566, some big guns making sudden appearances, a couple of them sticking around, and all at odd times.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

might have been too much to hope for

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

774 JOUB man saying "let's get started with day 3", English lessons 1450UT
972 HLCA, had put in several appearances after 1430UT, but peaked at 1535UT with woman in Korean, only foreigner on the band by now
1116 4BC man in DU English 1341UT
1575 presumed VoA,though no ID at 1500UT; man and woman in SE Asian language various times from 1437 to well past 1500UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

612 laid back vocal music 1334UT, talk by man at lower level, and also laid back; didn't sound like DU English
747 JOIB man and woman, English lessons //774 1450UT
1566 HLAZ assumed with man in Chinese 1439UT, but a couple of minutes earlier had been pop music about 3Hz high from HLAZ. The presumed Yanbian station seemed to be only about 1 Hz high from HLAZ from the Gabriola files from 23 November, and it perhaps was helping to generate a SAH this morning, but nowhere near audibility

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

828 JOBB man and woman talking, news jingle //774 1450UT
1206 man talking 1451UT, too messy for a language guess, usual off channel carrier for Yanbian 1386 woman singing, almost a sort of chanting, maybe over drums 1434-1436UT. New Zealand making an unexpected appearance?

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

738 891 1053 1098

best wishes,

Nick
