[IRCA] TP 6 Oct Victoria version

The big guns were indeed big...though 1566 didn't quite get there. And there were a few interesting moments, not least of which can develop Colin's comments about CBC's lack of language lessons. Heck, even NHK's English is more interesting, e.g. at 1412UT: "I was a dog until this morning", "are you sure he is sane?" "I was born behind the convenience store", and a routine involving the words "park" and "bark". DXing can sure be, uh, broadening. Pity there weren't singing lessons on HLCA, at least not for the brief period it was up.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK woman in Japanese 1351UT
774 JOUB Chinese lessons 1355UT and other times. Still making an appearance at 1429UT
828 JOBB Chinese lessons 1358UT. Erratic peaks.

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

747 JOIB Chinese lesssons 1353UT
972 HLCA? female pop music vocal 1304UT; otherwise pretty lacking this morning
1566 HLAZ organ music 1340UT, fading down to woman in Japanese

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

567 JOIK woman talking //594 1335UT
891 JOHK woman talking //594 1354UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

603 soft vocal music 1331UT, typical of HLSA
612 woman and man talking, DU English? 1358UT; gone by hour
738 pop music 1344UT
792 light vocal music 1332UT
837 JOQK woman and man talking //594 1342UT
873 JOGB English lessons //828 1412UT
1053 Korean jammer 1348UT, also mostly MIA today
1089 JOHB whooping voice of the English speaking lady cut through the crud briefly 1411UT //774
1287 man in Japanese? 1359UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

531 702 864 1008 1314 1386 1593

best wishes,

Nick
